ICA SEIZED OVER 100,000 PACKETS OF CONTRABAND CIGARETTES @ TUAS

According to a media release by the ICA, Over 10,000 cartons found after conducting security checks yesterday. The amount of contraband cigarette found is equivalent to more than 100,000 packets. The contraband cigarettes were found on two Malaysian trucks at Tuas Checkpoint on 24 October 2019

At around 5.15 am a Malaysia Truck declared bringing in printer parts but was found with 5044 cartons of contraband cigarettes instead.

Just a few hours after the first Truck, another truck attempted to bring in 5000 cartons of contraband cigarettes hidden among household goods.

A 27-year-old and 37-year-old Malaysian was arrested. The total duty and tax of the contraband cigarettes amounted to $920,990.
