A 31-year-old woman was sentenced to 10 months and 2 weeks of jail after pleading guilty to 6 counts of assault against her maid.
According to the court documents, the maid was under the employment of the abusive woman between December 2017 to May 2018.
It was reported that the woman has been abusing her maid repeatedly by slapping her, dragging her by her hair and even hit her with objects such an umbrella or broom.
Events that triggered the abuse
- Not applying ointment on the woman’s baby
- Singing to the woman’s children
However, the last straw that triggered the maid to the escape was when the woman called the maid a prostitute and accused the maid of wanting to seduce her husband. The woman then hit the maid with a broom.
After the abuse, the maid decided to escape the abusive woman by climbing down 15 storeys from the balcony. A police report was made the same afternoon.
Aside from being jailed, the woman has reportedly paid the maid more than $7,000 in compensation.
