MM2 Entertainment has confirmed that the Ah Girls Go Army movie will have a sequel, according to CNA Lifestyle.
The production company spoke to CNA Lifestyle through a spokesperson, who said that the release date for the sequel will be announced soon.
The Ah Girls Go Army raked in $1.67 million at the box office as of 7 February, despite heavy criticism from numerous movie critics.
The movie opened on the first day of Chinese New Year and surpassed the $1 million mark after 6 days, including the sneak previews.
Ah Girls Go Army sees a group of women enlisting in the army because there were not enough men in the future, and it chronicles their journeys from the stereotypical pampered females into soldiers.
Director Jack Neo posted a video onto his social media on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year and celebrated the landmark $1 million made at the local box office, thanking the viewers for their support.
According to CNA Lifestyle, the production company’s spokesperson described the reception to the movie as mixed.
Ah Boys To Men actor Tosh Zhang also called out the perceived haters of the movie on his Facebook and Instagram.
