MAN’S NEW SAMSUNG PHONE SPOILED, KENA $800 REPAIR CHARGE & PHONE STILL DAMAGED

0

A netizen by the name of Nubela, posted about his experience after buying a Samsung Galaxy Fold, sharing that the screen broke after less than a year due to wear and tear.

He claimed that his warranty was allegedly voided and he was charged $800+ for the repair at a Samsung Service Centre.

Here is what he said

I want to caution everyone based on my experience with Samsung’s customer service. In summary, the inner screen of my device broke in less than a year due to wear and tear.

Samsung voided my warranty, charged me S$800+ for the repair, and still refused to return my phone. I advise against purchasing Samsung products as their customer service has been extremely disappointing.

I am the owner of a Samsung Fold 4. A few weeks ago, the screen protector at the center of the inner screen began to lift. I planned to take it to the service center but kept postponing it until the lifting worsened over time. A tiny black spot then appeared along the folding line of the inner screen.

One morning, I opened the phone to hear a crunching sound, and the entire inner screen became unresponsive, with a thick black bar running through the middle of the screen.

Samsung advertises a Pickup and Delivery Repair Service for Galaxy Z Series. When I called about it, the customer service representative seemed surprised and told me that someone else would call me back to schedule the pickup in the next three days.

Understanding that there would be further delays for the actual pickup, I chose instead to book an in-person appointment at a Samsung Service Center.

Despite arriving on time for my appointment, I had to wait for an hour before being attended to.

The representative at the service center noticed a minor dent at the hinge of my phone and declared my warranty void. She insisted that the repair for the inner screen would cost $800+. However, she assured me that the technician would call me back to confirm the repair, which I agreed to.

After handing over my phone, I began to question the wisdom of fixing a device that seems to malfunction easily, especially given the expensive repair costs and the manufacturer’s questionable warranty terms. So, I decided to purchase a Pixel Fold instead and cancel the repairs when the technician called.

To my surprise, two days after submitting my phone for servicing, I received an SMS notifying me that my phone was ready for collection, even though no technician had called me.

Upon returning to the service center to address this issue, the staff insisted that I had agreed to the repair and would have to pay $800+ to retrieve my phone. The manager clarified that the technician would only call if the repair cost exceeded the initially agreed sum. They refused to ship the phone back to me and insisted that I sign a form stating my consent to the repair. When I refused to sign, the cashier snatched the phone from my hands, claiming that I couldn’t have it back until I signed the form.

Despite having paid for the repairs, I was not allowed to retrieve my phone.

After several emails and phone calls, customer support remained unyielding. They replaced the old parts of the phone and delivered it back to me. However, the phone came back with more damages than before. The stylus digitizer stopped working in certain spots. I ended up giving the faulty phone to my brother.

I recognize that my experience may be localized to the Singapore context, where consumer protection is relatively weak. The most significant action I can take is to share my story publicly and warn others never to trust Samsung.

Furthermore, I advise against relying on Samsung’s warranty. If you need insurance, consider getting actual insurance. I opted for personal device insurance, which costs around $13/month.

GIRL GOT A NEW JOB, 1ST DAY ARGUE WITH BOSS ALREADY THEN QUITS AFTER 20 MINS

0

I recently got hired at an F&B place. I had already seen some red flags from the store manager prior to my first day, however chose to at least go in and see if it wasn’t as bad as I suspected.

After getting in, I asked her how breaks worked as I know from past food jobs they can be a bit hectic. Additionally, my last job was negligent to make sure people got their breaks so I wanted to nip it in the bud early.

Her immediate response was to rudely say “Wow, I’ve never seen someone ask about that right after clocking in for the first time”.

I responded that my worker’s rights are important to me and she said “yeah, well they are to me too, but you should know your 15s (15 minute breaks) aren’t guaranteed and I do my best with lunches (30 minute breaks). And you should know I worked 17 hours straight the other day with no breaks so……”.

Obviously this put an awful taste in my mouth, and I spent another 10 minutes in my head debating my options.

I opted to just tell her “thanks but no thanks” and that it wasn’t a good fit. She asked if it was because of her, and I tried to politely sidestep and brought up my school and volunteer commitments.

She wouldn’t take this, kept being unprofessional and berating me, saying “I can’t believe you’re doing this to me.” For reference, I wasn’t on the schedule yet, and this was just a training shift. The shift was otherwise fully staffed.

She kept asking “is it me? Is it me?” And finally I just said “YES. Your unprofessionalism in this instance shows me I made the right decision.”

So, basically this will forever be my shortest time employed at a place. I quit after just 20 minutes, no regrets.

(Just for fun and because I am a bit petty, some other red flags I witnessed in 20 minutes of working there):

  1. Overcharging customers by always hitting the button for extra protein twice
  2. Filthy back of house. Like truly disgusting
  3. In the employee group chat, which I was in for only two days, each day no less than five people either called out or we’re going to be significantly late.
  4. She was already going back on what she said about working around my school schedule in my interview and trying to switch stuff up on me.

MAN SICK OF BEING THE SOLE BREADWINNER & HAVING EVERYONE DEPEND ON HIM FOR MONEY

0

I’m sorry if this makes me sound like an asshole but I am starting to feel resentment at being the sole breadwinner and I’m not sure how to get around these terrible thoughts.

I am a 32M only child from a poor family and married with a BTO flat coming along the way next year in Yishun because I picked the cheapest flat. For most of my life, my family struggled financially so while my childhood wasn’t terrible, I had to make do with not a lot of food and never travelled overseas. Family never owned a car and I lived in rental flats for a big part of my childhood.

I ended up focusing a lot on my education to break out of the cycle and managed to get into a local uni and studied a terribly boring course but one that guaranteed at least a stable but fairly median job. I also did not take any pocket money from my family since 14 and worked part time jobs even while in NS to save money for myself and support myself.

Working a few years out of graduation, I met my now wife who was working at the time but decided to quit suddenly because of mental health issues and have been unemployed for the past two years. My parents also conveniently decided to retire a week after I found my first job.

The past two years have been tough because I have saved almost nothing. I look at my bank statement and whenever the income comes in it goes out completely. One to parents, one to household expenses, one to bills, some to my wife, etc and I feel trapped. I hardly get to spend it on myself.

I feel like if I lose my job right now the whole system collapses, and everyone who is dependent on me has nothing. My parents just came to ask me for money again and I see that they have less than 10 dollars in their bank account. I cannot even fathom having kids because then it adds more mouths to feed.

I feel resentful and angry because while I’m hustling and struggling to make ends meet, it feels like everyone else around me is slacking and depending on me to just work and pay off everything. The worse thoughts came when I once accidentally blurted out to a colleague that actually if I had no family or dependents, my income would allow me to have a pretty comfortable life. But because I have people depending on me, I have to suffer as well.

I have thought ending it all or even running away from it all, because I see no end to it. And I don’t know what to do. I feel very resentful that I am carrying to weight of everyone, and my job isn’t so stable where layoffs do happen during economic recessions. Soon the house mortgage will come, along with children, and my parents medical bills will get more expensive, and I feel trapped.

GIRL PIAK PIAK WITH HER FRIEND THEN CUT OFF ALL CONTACT, “WHAM BAM THANK YOU MAN”

0

Slept with male best friend then cut off all contact

So I (21f) slept with my “best friend” (22m) and then told him I didn’t want to speak to him again. Now to add some context, we met nearly 3 years ago at university.

We started off as best friends and remained really close for nearly a year (platonic). We were very attracted to each other and one day we decided to f it and just sleep with each other.

At this time, we lived in the same dorm and decided to remain close friends with each other and just act like it didn’t happen. He would still make flirty remarks around me, and get jealous whenever I would speak or bring up another guy.

I thought it was weird but I would just ignore it and play off because I didn’t want to make it awkward. During the time living in the house, he started seeing a few girls, each girl he would decide to tell them that me and him slept together.

This of course putting me in an uncomfortable situation because women can be jealous etc.

Anyway we both eventually moved out of this uni house, he ended up getting in a relationship and I started seeing someone so we stopped speaking for almost a year.

Around a month ago, it was our mutual friend bday (both now single) and after having a few too many drinks, we slept together again.

I texted him the day after saying it shouldn’t happen again because we’re friends. He agreed and then said he only did it with me because there was no one else.

Obviously feeling used, hungover and upset I told him I didn’t wanna see his face again and blocked him.

Was i in the wrong here?

UNI STUDENT SAYS HE STUDY FROM PRI SCH UNTIL NOW, NO TIME TO GO OUT ENJOY LIFE

0

Singaporean teens have no chance to “live”?

For context, I am currently studying in uni, and while watching a school life drama, it just hit me how difficult it is to “have fun” in Sg.

Not trying to complain as I know how important it is to get an education especially in Sg but i just can’t help but wonder how much more interesting life would have been if i wasn’t always buried in a pile of textbooks.

Since primary school it’s just been non stop studying, especially for those aiming for top schools.

Then into secondary school where it’s primary sch on steroids; i averaged ard 4 hours of sleep then. With the rest of the hours studying.

Then into JC where it somehow still gets worse. Was honestly shocking how difficult it was, barely slept and even more studying.

Then for guys we go army where we r basically prisoners with responsibility for 2 years.

And now in uni it’s studying all over again.

Just thinking about how all i’ve done the past decade+ was study makes me feel like i wasted it. Sure i’m doing well in school and sure i have a better chance at a career, but when pple ask me about my life or hobbies, all i can say is “oh i just study lor”.

It’s pathetic. The study culture/ rat race is so rampant that to an extent, “fun” seems like a misuse of time.

It took me too long to realise this that i wasted my entire youth.

So for those reading, please go out and have fun, don’t just study all day cooped up in your room. Hang out with friends, do new activities.

What do you guys think about the study culture in sg?

MAN HITS 30 & FEELS LIKE ADULTHOOD IS A SCAM – EVERY WEEK JUST WORK, SLEEP, REPEAT

0

I hit 30, and I feel adulthood is a scam. Do you feel the same?

This thought hit me yesterday as I was spending my rest day. Woke up in the morning, had breakfast, hit the gym, back home. It was 1pm. And all I did for the rest of the day was to binge watch Netflix and my day is done.

Work week is also a routine. Wake up, shower, work, lunch, work, head home, shower, dinner and sleep. For five days a week. Its like you’re in a a simulation.

Today on the way to work, my playlist suddenly played a track from 2009. “I hope” by FT Island followed by “I’m a loner” and suddenly I’m transported back to 2009 and was hit by a wave of nostalgia.

Remember how when we were teens, it was an exploratory period and we wanted to try almost anything and everything. It’s you and your group of friends against the world.

Picking up the guitar and keyboard, start a random band which ended up going nowhere but you still find yourself smiling when you think about it. Impromptu travels to obscure places off the beaten tracks.

The chalets and bbq over the weekend where you rent bicycles and cycle to the red house and scaring one another along the way.

Driving to a secluded area where you’d just sit and laugh your ass off till morning breaks. Staying back in school after class ends to play PS4 at moberly.

We teased but helped our friend chase that one classmate he has a crush on but too shy to make a move. Life was simpler. And we told ourself to imagine the fun we could have once we get older; with more money and freedom.

Little did we know, it’d go downhill after. Depleting energy levels. Inability to enjoy your leave or activities without the thought of work lingering.

We have the money but not the time. Either because our leave isn’t approved or we’re just too tired and by time you’re we’re up it’s already 2pm.

And worst, you don’t have a group of friends to do it with since everyone is busy with their own schedules and you can’t find a common time.

We all wanted to grow up back then, but I’d do anything to go back to that time period. Life was simpler then. Do you feel the same?

S’PORE FAMILY STAYED IN HAUNTED CHALET, HEARD FEMALE SPIRIT CRYING & WATCHING THEM

0

This incident took place recently in 2023 when I stayed in a chalet with my family for 1 night. This chalet is not in Changi or Pasir Ris and nowhere near the east side of Singapore. I am not going to disclose the location either!

There were a few villas that we could choose but we picked just the normal villa since it is just for one night. We reached there around 1pm and to be honest, I already felt weird.

The villa that was given to us was far from the other villas and it was beside this forested area. For some weird reason, my grandma immediately said this when we arrived , “If anything you see or hear, don’t say anything”.

Even though it is weird to me, it is sort of normal for malay families to say this because we do not want to attract the attention of those things.

We started to decorate the chalet for my sister’s birthday party – setting up the balloons and unpack our stuff. At about 4pm, some of our cousins started coming for the party and my mum realised we do not have enough ice for all the guest.

So, I was asked to go to the nearby supermarket to buy the ice. When I was leaving the chalet, I have to walk out through the carpark and there was this man standing there just looking at my villa.

I did not have any thoughts so I just walked towards him since I have to walk past him to leave the compound.

When I walked past him, he asked me whether my family is staying there and I just nodded. Suddenly, he said to me “Be careful ah. This place quite active if you know what I mean. Especially your villa.”

I got creeped out so I faked a smile and made my way. When I came back with the ice packs, I noticed the man is now looking into the bushes behind our villa and he was just acting weird but still I chose to ignore him.

We had a total of 15-20 pax there around 7pm and everyone was having fun, nothing scary or whatever. That’s when the same man appeared again.

I was at the bbq with one of my cousins while the rest of our relatives were inside enjoying the air con and chit chatting.

He approached us at the bbq and said “Don’t stay outside for too long. There’s a grave here”. Our reactions was like “Wtf?”.

We just thought that he was a psycho and choose to join the family inside just to be safe you know. Still, nothing happened and all the guest went home at around 12am.

My grandma, parents and siblings have already washed up by 1230am and I was the last one since I was still eating the catered food.

I totally forgot about the psycho guy and was eating alone outside near the bbq pit. That’s when the disturbance start.

I heard someone calling me in the bushes that the man was pointing out, “psst…psst….” . Initially, I ignored it but suddenly I heard a faint cry from the same direction.

That was my last straw and ran up to the bedroom to sleep without even washing up. Thankfully, nothing else happened to me that night but when we reached home, that was when everyone started sharing their experience.

Firstly, my grandma said that she saw a woman staring at us in the forested area when we first reached and that’s the reason she said what she said.

She described the woman as a faceless being. My mum then said that when she was showering, she heard the same faint cry as me at around the same timing.

Nothing happened to my siblings but my dad shared that when he went to smoke near the forested area, he constantly felt someone caressing his hair and when he left that area, he heard someone called out his name…

After that day, my family and I decided that we would not longer book that chalet anymore. The first and the last. Do you know where is this place…

CYCLIST UPSET HE KENA HONKED, PUNCHES THE CAR & DENTS THE BONNET @ SUNGEI TENGAH

A cyclist on the road was seen in a video punching a car in a fit of rage after being honked by the driver at a traffic junction along Sungei Tengah, resulting in the vehicle being dented.

A Roadside Drama Unfolds

The incident, which has since gone viral, occurred earlier today (10 September) at about 8.45am, when a group of cyclists paused at a traffic junction.

Among them was a cyclist dressed in an orange and black ensemble. As the cyclists waited, a grey car, equipped with a dashcam, approached from behind.

The traffic light had already turned green as the group of cyclists slowly took off, with the cyclist in orange stopping to turn and look at the driver instead of riding off.

The driver of the car then honked twice at the cyclist to get going, to which the cyclist, clearly irritated by the honks, decided to take matters into his own hands.

He turned around and signaled to the driver, gesturing for him to move forward before punching his car twice in a fit of rage.

The sounds of the punches could be heard even from inside the car. The impact was not just audible; left a huge dent of the car’s bonnet.

Verbal Exchanges

The physical altercation didn’t end with the furious blows on the car’s bonnet. The cyclist and the driver exchanged heated words and profanities as they confronted each other.

Amidst the intense exchange between the cyclist in orange and the car’s driver, two other cyclists from the group, turned around and walked towards the driver and the orange cyclist.

The viral video, which garnered considerable attention on social media, ended with the driver of the car stopping under a nearby viaduct.

It is unclear what happened after that as the video then cuts off.

AUDI DRIVER CAN’T STOP IN TIME, MOUNTS KERB TO SIAM CARS IN FRONT @ SEMBAWANG

An Audi driver found himself in a situation when he was unable to stop his car at a red light, prompting him to take a daring maneuver by mounting the curb to avoid a potential head-on collision with the cars ahead.

This hair-raising incident took place on the morning of September 7, in the vicinity of Sembawang Park.

A Startling Sight on Sembawang Road

The incident, captured on camera by another driver, unfolded in a matter of seconds. As the dashcam rolled, the Audi driver, who was following closely behind another car, approached a red traffic light.

The car in front, obeying the traffic signal, began to decelerate, preparing to stop at the intersection.

As the traffic light remained steadfastly red, the Audi driver’s car showed no signs of slowing down. The driver, seemingly unable to apply the brakes in time, made a split-second decision and swerved to the right, mounting the central divider.

The dashcam footage captures the Audi car defying gravity, with most of its body precariously perched on the divider.

The Audi finally came to a halt just behind the car in front, narrowly avoiding what could have been a devastating collision.

The Audi Driver’s Perspective

While the dashcam footage offers a gripping visual, it’s essential to understand the Audi driver’s perspective. According to the post shared on the Facebook group SG Road Vigilante, the Audi driver was, in his own words, “unable to stop.”

In his Facebook post, the camcar driver described the Audi driver as being “sibei heng (super lucky).”
