THREE TEENAGERS ARRESTED FOR THEFT OF MOTORCYCLE WITHIN 10 HOURS

The Police have arrested three teenagers, aged 17 years old, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle. 

On 15 September 2023, the Police were alerted to a case of a motorcycle being stolen from a carpark along Pasir Ris Street 12. Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras and closed-circuit television (CCTV), officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the three teenagers and arrested them on the same day. The stolen motorcycle and helmet were also recovered. 

One of the three teenagers will be charged in court on 18 September 2023 with theft of a motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine. Police investigations against the two other teenagers are ongoing. 

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

1. Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
   
2. Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
   
3. Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
   
4. Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard;
   
5. Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended; and
   
6. Do not leave spare keys inside the motorcycle storage box.

In a bizarre yet comical incident captured on CCTV, a Malaysian-plated motorcycle rider’s ill-fated attempt to pilfer motorbike parts has become the talk of the town.

The incident, dated September 14, unfolded in a peculiar sequence of events that left both the motorbike owner and amused onlookers in stitches.

The Mysterious Thief Strikes

The CCTV footage, though not crystal clear, offers a glimpse into the unfolding drama. A shadowy figure is seen lurking near a parked motorcycle, which happens to be a brand-new, eye-catching model adorned with intricate gold embellishments.

The motorbike’s owner, who remains off-camera, can be heard exclaiming, “There! He’s trying to shake my thing! Then cannot.”

The “thing” in question is presumably one of the bike’s side mirrors or another piece of equipment attached to the vehicle. It appears that the thief’s attempt to steal the item ends in failure, prompting a hasty retreat.

He swiftly mounts his own motorcycle and speeds away, leaving the scene with nothing to show for his efforts.

“Cannot, he’s gone already,” the motorbike owner says as he commentates over the video, his voice laced with a mixture of amusement and relief.

Round Two: The Thief’s Return

Just moments after his initial failed attempt, the thief experiences an inexplicable resurgence of determination. With an unexpected u-turn, he heads back to the scene, ready to give it another shot.

“Try one more time sia,” comments the motorbike’s owner, his commentary mirroring the sheer audacity of the would-be thief.

However, much to everyone’s amusement, the second attempt also ends in fiasco. The thief’s mission to dislodge the coveted item once again proves fruitless, and he departs empty-handed, albeit with some unintended scratches on the gleaming new motorbike.

The Singapore Police Force has successfully apprehended two individuals, aged 44 and 34, in connection with a case of theft. The arrests come after a swift and diligent investigation into an incident reported on 3 September 2023.

At approximately 9:35 AM on that day, the Police received a report of a theft that occurred along Chander Road.

According to preliminary investigations, the victim had been asleep at the location when he was suddenly awakened by an unknown individual attempting to steal his handphone and a sum of $30 in cash.

The thief allegedly passed the stolen items to an accomplice before both individuals made a hasty exit from the scene.

The breakthrough in this case came through meticulous ground enquiries and the invaluable assistance of images captured by Police cameras and CCTV footage.

Officers from the Central Police Division worked tirelessly to identify the culprits, leading to the subsequent arrest of the two suspects on 14 September 2023.

During the apprehension, the stolen handphone was successfully recovered and confiscated as a crucial piece of evidence in the ongoing investigation.

Further inquiries have revealed that the arrested men are believed to be connected to additional cases of theft.

TWO MEN ARRESTED FOR THEFT

The Police have arrested two men, aged 44 and 34, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft.

On 3 September 2023 at about 9.35am, the Police received a report of a theft along Chander Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had been sleeping at the said location when he was awakened by an unknown man purportedly stealing his handphone and cash amounting to $30. The man then allegedly handed the items over to another man before they both left the location.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the men, aged 44 and 34 respectively, and arrested them on 14 September 2023. The handphone was recovered and seized as case exhibit.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the two men are believed to be involved in other cases of theft.

The men will be charged in court on 16 September 2023 with theft with common intention under Section 379 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, or both.

The Police have zero tolerance towards such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) recently executed a rescue operation to save a man who had fallen into a canal at Telok Kurau.

This incident, which unfolded on Sunday, September 17, showcased the quick thinking and selflessness of both observant passers-by and the dedicated SCDF officers.

The Desperate Plunge

The drama began when vigilant members of the public noticed a man in distress, attempting to claw his way up the steep, algae-covered sides of the canal. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, they swiftly alerted the SCDF.

A Heroic Collaboration

Sam Young, a member of the “Love Cycling SG” Facebook group, captured gripping images of the rescue operation as it unfolded.

SCDF officers, perched precariously on the canal’s inclined sides, worked meticulously to hoist the stranded man from the murky waters.

In the photographs, the evidence of a rescue attempt by Good Samaritans was also evident. A makeshift ladder, securely fastened with a nylon rope to the canal’s railings, bore witness to the collective effort to save a life.

Saw the man struggling

Young’s involvement in the rescue mission began when he was cycling along the Telok Kurau park connector that fateful morning. His attention was drawn to a middle-aged man struggling hopelessly in the canal, unable to ascend its slippery sides due to the thick layer of algae.

Although Young was unaware of how the man had ended up in such a predicament or the duration of his ordeal, his instinct to help was unwavering.

He borrowed a ladder from a nearby residence and, with the assistance of a compassionate passer-by, secured it to the canal railing using a sturdy nylon rope.

However, Young’s altruistic intentions were met with a stern warning from another passer-by, who rightfully pointed out the dangers of his proposed rescue mission. Simultaneously, someone had already reached out to the SCDF for professional assistance.

The Race Against Rising Waters

Young, the photographer and a witness to this heart-pounding incident, highlighted the increasing peril faced by the trapped man. He mentioned in his post that “the water level in the canal was getting higher,” underscoring the critical timing of the rescue operation.

In a display of gratitude and admiration, Young extended his heartfelt thanks to the SCDF for their unwavering commitment and rescue of the stricken man.

SCDF’s Swift Response

The SCDF said that on September 17, at approximately 10:10 a.m., they received a distress call near Lorong L Telok Kurau. Arriving swiftly on the scene, SCDF personnel discovered a man trapped in a drain.

They then deployed a ladder to extract the stranded individual from the perilous situation. Following the rescue, medical personnel assessed the man’s condition, but he declined further medical attention.
