FRESH GRADS SHOULD NOT BE SO PICKY ABOUT 1ST JOB

0

There are always complaints here and there about their first jobs. A man said not to be so picky on their first jobs.

Here is what he advice

“Want to put some encouragement out there to graduating students. Especially those who received less than satisfactory offers and feel disappointed at what employers are offering you out of school.

It doesn’t matter that much. It matters what you do after getting a less than satisfactory salary (If you’re satisfied, don’t read further).

I’m not from CS or well paid courses so when I took on my first job with a salary slightly below 3K monthly, it was pretty amazing. I ignored culture and got into a really bad job. Thank goodness I manage to get myself out of it.

Remained motivated, kept working hard and did not restrain me to my job scope. Looking back, this helped me because I always had so much to share during interviews.

Finally, after changing a few jobs (I was “approached” each time), I’m earning at least triple of what I had 4 years back.

So, friends, you are what you set yourself up to be. If someone paid you less, try set yourself to accomplish tasks that could justify why you should be paid more (help the company earn more, help others in your team grow, help your boss get recognised… etc). That way you’re setting yourself up for success.”

Here is what netizens think:

Go for the job, learn what you can and move on. Remember that there is no such thing as loyalty in a company. When you leave thousands more are behind you waiting to get that job. If you have an offer take it first. You can always omit those short jobs in your resume.

If the boss is good stay around longer and see what you can learn.

WOMAN COMPLAINS ABOUT HAVING SMALL CHEST, BUT HUSBAND LOVES IT

0

A netizen shared about how his wife has been complaining about how small her chest it but he loves her just the way she is.

Here is the story:

My wife and I have been married for 27 years. She’s always had a small chest. They were perkier when we were first married at 20 yo. They were bigger when we had our children and now in our late 40’s they are a bit saggy.

My wife has complained for years about how small they are. We’ve talked about augmentation and had put it off due to how the procedure was done (we know there are new ways) and the possibility of her losing some feeling.

I am going on a business trip and she is going with me to lay on the beach and by the pool for the 4 days.

One of the nights we may be going to a cocktail party so she has been trying on some of her dresses. She had on her cute little black one and again complained about her small chest because she doesn’t “fill out” the upper half of her cocktail dress.

I turned to her and said, “You know what babe? I wish you had a bigger chest too.” She replied, “I knew it!”

Then I told her “but it isn’t for the reason you think” I wish she had a bigger chest so she didn’t feel so self-conscious about how she looks in that dress, or her swimsuits or her blouses. That is the only reason.

I love her just the way she is!

Ladies, when you have a man that loves you more than anyone or anything on the planet please know that he loves you for who you are!

Everything my wife has been through has sculpted her body to the perfection I see in front of me every day. She birthed my children so that bit of belly she never got rid of is a testament to the sacrifice she made being pregnant.

So are those saggy puppies that fed our babies and those are the memories I will cherish.

Every scar, wrinkle, ache, and pain comes from a life well lived and shared with me.

This is love and I hope everyone reading this experiences this in their life.

Editor’s note: Very touching, I’m happy for you two.

GUY MIXED UP LANGUAGE, ASKS GF FOR ‘MOUTH’ IN FRONT OF HER PARENTS

0

A guy shared a story about how he mixed up the languages and did not pronounce what he had intended to correctly in front of his girlfriend’s parents which led to him saying something of a total different meaning.

He adds that he had the intention of asking his girlfriend to play games while he was over at her place but ended up asking her for some ‘mouth action’ instead because of the mixed up of words.

Here is the story

“I was over at my girlfriend’s place for dinner one night at the invitation of her parents who wanted to get to know me.

We have been dating for a couple of months and I have yet to meet her parents as they were also busy with running their own business and did not really have the time for social interactions outside of their work schedule.

Let me clarify a few things first before I continue the story.

  1. My girlfriend is Filipino and sometimes they tend to reverse a word instead of saying it normally.
  2. The Filipino translation for the word “play” as in to play games is “laro”.

With those two pointed out, you might already have an idea where this thing is going.

I’m having dinner with my girlfriend’s family and her siblings and parents were on the table and I was invited over for dinner today because we’re supposed to have met long ago instead and this was quite belated.

After eating, I invited her to play games and unconsciously said “tara, oral” which roughly translates to “come on, oral” although I meant to invite her to play games.

The moment I realized what I said, I immediately followed up with the name of the game I want us to play.

Her parents hasn’t talked to me yet ever since then and one of her siblings is always giving me funny stares.”

GUY ACCIDENTALLY SPILLS HOT TEA ON HIS ‘JOYSTICK’

0

A guy shared a story of how he woke up one day and made some hot tea to drink like he always does everyday.

He happened to be rushing out for work that day and brought the cup of hot tea which he had just poured for himself into the toilet to drink while he prepares and get ready for work.

While he was down to his birthday suit, he took a sip of the tea and accidentally spilled some of it on his body and eventually on his ‘joystick’, causing it to burn.

Here is the story

“This happened on one of the mornings which I woke up late and was rushing to work.

I like to drink hot tea in the morning. The hotter the better as it wakes me up and perks my spirit. It has become a routine which I never fail to do in the morning.

My favorite mug to hold my morning tea is a gigantic one with my initials on it, it could hold up to almost one litre of tea.

Anyway, I made my morning tea, and right as I finished stirring in the honey, I felt the sudden and immediate urge to take a dump.

So being the gross person that I am and also because I wash rushing as I was already late, I took my tea with me to the bathroom.

Everything was fine until I tried to drink from my mug with one hand. It slipped right before it got to my lips, and fell all down my chest, stomach, and ‘joystick’.

Honestly, my ‘joystick’ got the least of the burn, but you can’t tell that to all those nerve endings.

Needless to say, I will not be drinking hot tea while in my birthday suit again, maybe unless I’m leaning over the sink.

Maybe I should learn to appreciate iced tea?”

2ND GEN PRC MAN SERVING ARMY IN SG, WRITE COMMANDS IN CHINESE

0

I am a 19F local dating a China guy with a really curious trait. Whenever he has trouble remembering how to pronounce cheem-sounding English words, he will transliterate it into Chinese and memorize that instead. For instance, “doing it” becomes “谁输儿 阴特扣死“ (shei-shu-er yin-te-kou-si), which I find so funny I make him say it every time he wants to do it.

But yesterday when I was helping him to spring-clean his room for CNY, I stumbled upon this army notebook of his. I recall that he told me as a second-gen PRC he had to serve, and he was a Platoon Sergeant, so I was curious and had a look at what he wrote. Lo and behold, it was full of Chinese transliterations of army commands and on one page, there was a full-blown Tang dynasty-esque poem:

扑了吞吐握右方 (pu-le-tun-tu-wo-you-fang)

扑了吞吐色迪呀 (pu-le-tun-tu-se-di-ya)

可可男露无乳撕 (ke-ke-nan-lu-wu-ru-si)

盘蛋卡拉盘盘蛋 (pan-dan-ka-la-pan-pan-dan)

巴黎死色囊地利 (ba-li-si-se-nang-di-li)

I only recognise “sediya” and “senangdili” cause I hear that all the time in morning assembly back in school, but the rest look like gibberish. Anyone understand this?

Here is wht netizens think:

  • thanks for the morning lolz.Anyway it’s not uncommon. Japanese Katakana was derived for the same reason – to deal with words and phrases not in their native tongue.
  • Reminds me of Wong Fei Hong learns english from 十三姨
  • Platoon watch your front..platoon Sedi-a! (Attention).. Ke-Kanan Lu – RUS!(Right dressing).. Pandang Ke-Hadapan Pan – DANG! (Eyes to the front).
  • Very impressed! At least he make an effort to remember the commands using his creative!
  • Once u go tiong u cant turn back
  • 3rd one is me kanan lu rus (checking alignment when falling in)4th one is Pandan ke hadapan pandan= turning head back to the front after checking alignment5th one is Baris Senangdiri= contingent? At ease.

MUSCULAR GUY CAN’T FIND A GIRL BECAUSE THEY THINK HIS DIET IS WEIRD

0

A “shredded 6 pack” guy shared how he thinks most girls don’t want to date people like him because of his strict diet.

Here is the story:

OK hear me out. 3 years ago I decided enough was enough and started my path to getting lean and gaining muscle. I succeeded I have a visible 6 pack and I’m currently doing a clean bulk.

My overall appearance is good I think. The thing is, every time a girl is interested in me and we start to date they quickly start to get annoyed by the fact that I’m extremely picky or selective with my food.

I don’t drink, I don’t eat trash food, etc. They think that I’m a weirdo or something like that.

And I don’t blame them but… How did you think that I got this physique? Just doing exercise? (one girl once told me I spend too much time in the gym also).

Obviously, I’m not saying you should want or accept my obsessive actions but I’m so sick of people assuming you can get my body with like going 3 days a week to the gym.

Netizens comments

  • Just get yourself a 6pack girl
  • Hold out for a woman you’re compatible with. Shes out there waiting for you too.
  • Real talk, man – join a crossfit gym.
I started working out at one and realized that every girl in there was really fit. And they all worked on their diets and that’s kinda what they were focused on. You might have some good luck there
  • When I started dating my fiancé he was a gym rat and super clean eater. Not that I ate ‘junk’ but every time I’d suggest something to eat he’d say “I don’t eat that”. One day I literally responded with “what DO you eat?”. It was fine with me that he didn’t eat bad foods but eventually for him he started eating the same things as me. Within a year he stopped going to the gym, and started gaining weight, not crazy weight but he wasn’t shredded anymore. Now 5 years later we both go to the gym and eat good.
I would say in the beginning of dating just plan to go to a restaurant that sells foods you would eat. This way it’s not so noticeable that you eat strict foods and your date can have whatever they want.

WIFE UNABLE TO EXPRESS LOVE TO HUSBAND, SHE THINKS IT’S SAD

0

My husband is an extremely expressive and affectionate man who will shower me with “I love you” and “I miss you” daily. Even if we just met that morning, he will text me “I miss you” in the afternoon.

On the other hand, I can’t. I almost never send such messages or say these things first, and I even find it hard to say I miss you. The only time when I really felt that I miss him was when we were still dating and our busy schedules kept us apart for about 2 weeks. That was when I told him “I miss you so much can’t wait to see you”

Apart from that, I am not a very caring person as well, I realised this because I don’t show much care and concern even to my own family and friends.

Someone can post an extremely emotional post and I wouldn’t comment or get in touch, my husband can injure himself (so far only minor injuries) like hit his shin against the bed frame, stub his toe, or I accidentally elbow his stomach but I wouldn’t feel inclined to be like “omg are you ok?” and show lots of care. Instead, I’m like “you see la, tell you don’t run into the room” or “be more careful lei”

I sometimes wonder do I have a problem? Do I not love him enough that’s why I’m like that? Or is it normal to be not expressive? I feel bad because I do love him, I just cannot bring myself to lovey dovey with him like other couples do, and it’s sad that he cannot receive the same kind of affection he gives me.

Here are what netiezns think:

  • There’s many forms of love language. Some use actions like hugs, some use words, acts of service etc. You can google and understand more. From the things you say like “you see lah…. ” it reminds me of my parents who would say similar things to me when I fall down as a child. Basically who you are now as a person, how you react to things, is basically how you were brought up as a child, your experience growing up in situations like these resulted in who you are. There’s no right or wrong way. Basically for me, my husband is the lovey dovey one when we got tgt and I would cringe fr it. Bcos my parents aren’t the ones who would shower me words of affection but rather the tough love sort. But over the years, I appreciate what my hub do more for me and the love language from him. Everyone loves differently. And it’s ok!
  • It’s ok sis. My wife also like that, different people express love differently. When I tell her “I love you”, she will reply “k” or stare at me and say “You got other woman!”. I think she feels my overwhelming love! Just that she dunno how to reply because she’s no good in words. I don’t mind. I think your hubby won’t mind too.So It’s perfectly ok not to be expressive in words. There are different love languages, acts of service is also a way to express your love for each other.

GUY RELEASES GAS AT CLINIC, DOCTOR DOES THE SAME BACK

0

A guy shared a story of how he once went to a clinic for a medical checkup and released too much gas which stunk up the whole room, angering the doctor.

The doctor then did the same back to him during the medical checkup when the man was required to take deep breaths.

Here is the story

“A day before my medical checkup, I had to fast a certain period so I ate a lot earlier in the day.

My colleagues wanted to have mala and satay at a nearby coffeeshop and so we decided to have lunch there.

As I was required to fast after a certain time and I was afraid that I might be hungry after the time came, I ate a lot from what we ordered.

This caused me to keep going to the toilet and also let out a lot of gas throughout the night and even in the morning of my medical checkup.

I reached the clinic for my check up half an hour earlier than my appointment time. After registering, the nurse walked me back to the examination room and told me to wait for the doctor.

I had been waiting about five minutes when I farted.

It was those loud and airy type and I knew that I needed to excuse myself for five minutes before the exam started.

I stuck my head out of the room and told the nurse that work called, I’ll be back in five minutes please let the doctor know if he comes by and I am still not back

I returned to find the room had not aired out completely and in the middle of the room stood my doctor with his arms crossed with a very annoyed look on his face.

I apologised and continued with the lie about needing to call work as I did not want to smell my farts.

He nodded and told me that was fine and to hop up on the table and proceed to start with other checkups first.

We arrived at the part of the checkup where the doctor has you take multiple deep breaths while he listens with a stethoscope.

On the first take a deep breath command as I started breathing in the doctor let loose, farting so loud they could hear it in the waiting room.

He then told me, its a 1-1 draw now.”

STORE STAFF TOOK PHOTO OF CUSTOMER’S BABY BECAUSE “CUTE”, ANGRY MUM ASK HER DELETE

0

For Parents in Sg: Asking a stranger to delete a photo of your toddler

I was at a clothing store with my toddler today and I caught one of the sales assistants quietly snapping a picture of my daughter with her phone. I know she didn’t mean any harm as I overheard her mumbling the word “cute.”

Regardless, I was very uneasy with a stranger having possession of my toddler’s photo and requested that she delete the picture. She complied (at least, I think she did).

Now in hindsight, I’m wondering if I overstepped any boundaries. Technically speaking, the lady didn’t do anything illegal. If she had denied my request, there was probably nothing I could have done either.

Fellow parents in Singapore, have you had any similar experience and what would you have done?

Netizens’ comments

  1. No you didn’t overstep any boundaries. It doesn’t sound like you were nasty to the salesperson either, so it’s all good.
  2. This is one example that you can control. Sure, go ahead. But there are situations you can’t, eg school photos which might be shared by other parents on their social media etc. So I have to manage my expectations as a parent myself, I can’t feel uneasy with every stranger who has my kid’s photo, because they do. But we can nurture our kid, ask them to learn to say no/consent.
  3. Yes, this has happened to me before.
Correct it’s not illegal. But that doesn’t make it right either. It’s inappropriate to take pictures of children without asking their parents consent and people need to learn that.
I once had a lady taking pictures of my child at gardens by the bay in the water play – in swim wear. I was sitting behind her on the stairs and I could see on her screen how she was zooming in on my child, taking pictures. I told her she needs to delete these immediately and also from the “delete” folder with me watching. Imagine this had been man. Then you might understand how very very inappropriate it is.
Another time I witnessed a young man on the bus filming a sleeping baby in the stroller. I asked the mother with a loud voice so everyone could hear if she is aware this man is filming her sleeping baby. The mother was shocked and close to tears. Again I asked the man to delete the material. EDIT: the mother thanked me for calling out the situation as she didn’t notice what was going due to where she was standing. She was in complete shock.
This is a completely unacceptable practice and it needs to be called out and stopped. Get the parents consent. But not like this.
In your case OP, I’d say had she denied I would have left a hefty review on that shop’s Google page to tell everyone their staff is taking pictures of children without the parents consent and then refuse to delete it.

WOMAN “ACCIDENTALLY” SHOWED HER WET NEHNEHPOK TO BOSS, END UP PIK POK PIAK TOGETHER

0

i work in a coffee shop and it was one of those days where it was a bit slow and many of my co-workers were on leave so it was just me and him.

we always were good friends with each other so we were talking about stuff when i wanted to show him a pic of something i made on my phone.

thats when a customer walked in so i put the phone on the desk with the screen still on and helped the customer.

now a couple days ago i did take a steamy, just out of the shower and all wet photo of my chest…

when i walked back to my boss i could see he didnt touch my phone but he was looking at that pic in the bottom where it shows the other pics in my photo album.

he smirked at me and stared at chest and i felt a bit uneasy until i saw my phone and got very flustered and left for home early…

two hours after im home i get this message from him saying he’s havin a boring night and if i wanna come over and hang out and watch a movie with him..
