Facebook user Hirule Leo shared an alleged sighting of a King cobra, purportedly at Changi End, in the grass patch near Changi Beach.
The photo was shared on the Singapore Wildlife Sightings Facebook page, as Leo urged the public to be careful if they are in the area.
In the photo, the snake could be seen slithering on the grass while being surrounded by what appears to be crows.
Leo also alerted the people nearby because there were students around at the time cleaning up the beach, and he also tagged ACRES in his post.
A netizen commented and said that the location of the snake sighting was near a sculpture of a finger pointing towards the sky, along the Changi Coast Track (the Inscription Of The Island statue).
Up to 5-metres long
King cobras, also known as Ophiophagus hannah, are one of the most venomous snakes in the world. These snakes are mainly found in the jungles of Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent, where they are known to be one of the top predators in their ecosystem.
King cobras are known for their distinctive appearance, with their long, slender body and their hooded head. They can grow up to 5 meters in length and weigh around 9kg. Despite their intimidating size, king cobras are timid and avoid confrontation with humans unless provoked.
Potent venom
The venom of the king cobra is extremely potent and can cause severe damage to the human body. The venom contains a neurotoxin that attacks the nervous system, leading to paralysis, respiratory failure, and ultimately, death. The venom also has cardiotoxic properties, which can cause the heart to stop beating.
The venom of a king cobra can kill a human within a matter of hours, making it one of the deadliest snakes in the world. Even a small amount of venom can cause a fatal reaction in a person, and there is no known antivenom for the king cobra venom.
In addition to being dangerous to humans, king cobras are also a threat to other animals in their habitat. They are known to prey on other venomous snakes. They are also known to eat lizards, rodents, and other small animals.
Despite their venomous nature, king cobras play an important role in the ecosystem. They help to control the population of other snakes and small animals, and their presence in the jungle indicates a healthy ecosystem.
What to do if you encounter a King cobra
Remain calm
The first and most important thing to do is to remain calm. King cobras are aggressive snakes and can become more dangerous if they feel threatened. Stay still and avoid making sudden movements or loud noises that may startle the snake.
Keep your distance
King cobras can strike from a distance of up to 8 feet, so it is important to keep your distance. If you see a king cobra, back away slowly and try to put as much distance between you and the snake as possible.
Do not attempt to touch the snake
This may seem obvious, but it is important to never attempt to touch or handle a king cobra. Even if the snake appears to be calm, it can still be extremely dangerous.
Call for professional help
If you come across a king cobra, do not attempt to handle it on your own. Instead, call for professional help. You can contact NParks at 1800-476-1600 if you require assistance.

SCDF’s statement on Facebook
[Incident @ 55 Ubi Road 1]
On 7 March 2023 at about 8:55 a.m., SCDF was alerted to an incident at the abovementioned location.
Upon arrival, there was no fire and SCDF noticed that a section of the wall at the side of a building had collapsed.
About 100 people evacuated from the building prior to SCDF’s arrival.
One person was conveyed to the Raffles Hospital after sustaining a fall in the vicinity.
I never thought this would happen to me. I was at my friend-with-benefits (FWB) house, and I thought I was alone.
I decided to take a walk around his house, and thinking that no one was home, I decided to do it in the nude. I had been there a few times before, and I was confident that no one was there. Boy, was I wrong.
His family suddenly came home
As I walked through the living room, I felt a sudden chill run down my spine, and I immediately knew something was wrong.
I looked around and, sure enough, I saw that my FWB’s whole family had just come back. Everyone was staring at me with a mix of shock and horror.
I felt like I was in a nightmare, my heart racing and my face turning red with embarrassment.
I quickly ran back to the bedroom, grabbed my clothes, and tried to cover up as much as possible. I was so embarrassed, but I knew I had to face his family.
So, I took a deep breath and stepped out into the living room.
My FWB’s family was still stunned, but they were trying to be polite. His father asked me why I was running around his house naked.
I was so embarrassed that I couldn’t even get the words out. I just muttered that I was sorry and tried to make a quick exit.
My FWB’s mother, however, was more understanding. She told me that it was okay and that I was welcome to stay. She even offered to make me dinner. I was so relieved and grateful that I almost started crying.
After dinner, I was able to talk to my FWB’s family a bit more. We talked about our interests, our hobbies, and our lives. It was a nice conversation, and I felt like the incident had been put behind.
It’s been a few months since that embarrassing incident, but I still think about it every once in a while.
I learned an important lesson that day: always check to make sure a house is empty before running around it naked!
I have been in the workforce for many years, and one of the most important lessons I have learned is that it is essential to make sure that people know what you have done at work.
If you do not do this, they may think that you are not doing anything or that you are not as productive as you could be.
Before I blow trumpet, no one noticed me
I first realized the importance of announcing my accomplishments at work when I was starting out in my career. I was working in a large company and often felt like I was invisible.
I was working hard, but no one seemed to notice. I was not getting recognition for my efforts and it was really disheartening.
That was when I decided to start being more proactive about announcing what I had done. I began writing emails to my colleagues and supervisors when I completed tasks, letting them know what I had achieved. I also started sending out weekly emails with a summary of my accomplishments to the whole team.
People started to give me attention
The response was immediate and positive. People started noticing me and my work. I started getting recognition for my efforts and it was incredibly rewarding.
It also gave me a boost of confidence and made me feel more valued.
I also found that letting people know what I had done also helped me to stay on top of my work. When I sent out emails to my colleagues and supervisors, they often responded with feedback or suggestions. This was extremely helpful in improving my performance.
In addition, I found that announcing my accomplishments at work was beneficial for networking purposes. People often asked me about what I had achieved and it was a great way to start conversations.
It also showed people that I was an active contributor in the workplace and gave me the opportunity to establish connections with others.
Overall, I think that it is essential to announce what you have done at work. It is not only beneficial for recognition and networking purposes, but it also helps you to stay on top of your work and to feel more valued.
I have been using this strategy for many years and it has been incredibly beneficial for my career. I highly recommend that everyone in the workforce make an effort to let people know what they have achieved.
A video emerged online showing a ghostly encounter purportedly captured at Pulau Ubin.
The video was taken by a security officer, who captured what he claims to be the ghost of the famous German Girl Shrine on the island.
The security guard was taking a video of the island’s surrounding at night to inform his supervisor that he couldn’t do his “round check” because it was raining that night.
But as he panned his camera towards his right, in the distance beside some foliage, a figure wearing what appears to be an “old medieval gown” could be seen floating across.
The video then zoomed in on the figure, showing the purported ghost’s attire, with the lower part of the gown appearing to be puffier than the top.
The legend of the German Girl Ghost
The legend of the German Girl Ghost dates back to the World War 1 period (1914 to 1918). She was said to be a daughter of a German coffee plantation owner who lived near where the German Girl Shrine currently sits at Pulau Ubin.
Two names popped up from research into the story, via the past land deeds – Daniel Brandt and Hermann Mulingans, but in-depth investigations into the girl’s parents were inconclusive.
The story goes that the German girl’s family was taken away by British soldiers for internment but she somehow managed to escape. However, she slipped and fell into a quarry before dying, and her dead body was then found by the Boyanese people and covered up with sand.
Her body was later retrieved by Chinese workers who then gave her a proper burial, and the grave was then exhumed in 1974 to make way for quarry excavation works before being relocated to its current location, at the German Girl Shrine in Pulau Ubin.
Ghostly figure wandering along the beach
It is said that the German girl’s spirit remained on the island. Since then, visitors to Pulau Ubin have reported seeing the ghostly figure of a young girl in a white dress, wandering through the forest and along the beach. Some have even claimed to have heard her crying or calling out for her father.
The legend of the German Girl Ghost has become a popular topic of discussion among paranormal enthusiasts and ghost hunters. Many have attempted to capture evidence of the ghostly presence, with some claiming to have recorded eerie voices and strange apparitions on film.
Despite the many sightings and stories, there are some who believe that the legend of the German Girl Ghost is simply a myth. They point out that there is no historical evidence to support the story of the girl and her family, and that the legend may have been invented to attract tourists to the island.
Regardless of whether or not the German Girl Ghost is real, there is no denying the eerie atmosphere that permeates Pulau Ubin. The island’s dense jungle and deserted beaches make it the perfect setting for a ghost story, and visitors can’t help but feel a sense of unease as they explore its winding paths and hidden corners.
The legend of the German Girl Ghost at Pulau Ubin is a fascinating and spooky tale that has captured the imagination of many visitors to the island. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, there is no denying the eerie atmosphere of Pulau Ubin and the allure of its mysterious legends.
I remember the first time my friend, took me to her house. We had been best friends since the primary 4 but I had never been to her house before.
I was expecting a small, modest home, but instead, she took me to a beautiful semi-D I remember the large wraparound porch, the manicured lawn, and the inviting interior.
My friend’s family had been living in this semi – D for years, and it was a place of comfort and security for her.
Says that she is sad need to downgrade, end up still stay condo in orchard
Soon after, her family’s life had been turned upside down. Her father’s business had failed, and they were suddenly in financial trouble.
They had to make the difficult decision to downgrade their living situation and move out of the Semi-D.
Lisa was devastated. She had grown up in that house and it held so many happy memories. She was sad to leave it behind.
She whined about it to me and I genuinely felt sad for her, as she had a very nice place and her family and herself were all very nice people.
Turns out that her ‘downgrade’ was to a condo in Orchard
I thought that she would be moving to a HDB just like the average Singaporean but it turns out that her ‘downgrade’ was still an ‘upgrade’ to many of us.
So, her family moved into a condominium in Orchard and while many would have envied the house that they moved into, my friend said that it was difficult for her to adjust.
She was used to having all the space she wanted, and now she had to share a smaller living space with her family. She was also sad that she was no longer surrounded by the beautiful and familiar sights of her old neighborhood.
Thankfully she was not a spoilt brat and she adjusted
The transition to the condominium was difficult for her, but eventually, she began to adjust. She painted the walls of her bedroom a bright yellow, and she filled it with photos and mementos from her old home.
She also began to make new memories in her new home. She and her family took walks around the complex and visited the nearby park. Slowly but surely, the new condominium began to feel like home to Lisa.
I remember visiting her in her new home for the first time and was also ‘wow-ed’ by it.
She told me that despite the difficult circumstances that led to her family’s move, she finally learnt how to be contented.
She had learned to appreciate the small things in her new home, like the comfortable furniture and the convenient location.
She was also thankful for the close relationships she had with her family and the support they provided each other during this challenging time.
An elderly man in South Korea is being investigated by the police after more than 1,000 dead bodies of dogs were found in his home.
The grim discovery was made by a resident who was looking for their lost dog, when they stumbled upon the house with the carcasses.
Korean animal rights group Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE) posted a disturbing video of the dead bodies inside the house.
The group had visited the house, located in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi, South Korea; where the elderly man had allegedly starved countless dogs to death over a period of more than three years.
CARE said that the rotting dog bodies had formed a layer on the ground, and live dogs were kept inside cases on top of the decomposing bodies.
The dogs were also forced to eat other dogs that had died in order to survive, and CARE also found sulls and dead bodies piled up in various places throughout the house, including being stored inside barrels in the yard.
Miraculously, four surviving dogs were found inside the house among the decomposing bodies, with all of them suffering from either malnutrition or skin diseases, with two of them being in critical condition.
The dogs have since been sent to veterinary hospitals for treatment.
The Korea Herald reported that the grim discovery was made by a resident who lived nearby, they were looking for their lost dog on 4 February when they discovered the house full of dead dogs.
They then alerted the police who discovered more than 1,000 dead bodies.
an elderly man in his 60s who lives there, is being investigated by the police for allegedly violating animal protection law.
He had confessed to collecting dogs that were abandoned, and starving them to death; but CARE refuted his claims and said that he had received the dogs from dog breeders because they were too old or small to breed and their commercial value had gone down.
CARE said that the man was allegedly paid 10,000 won (or SGD$10,30) per dog to take care of them, and he then went on to lock the dogs up and starve them to death.

I had been married to my husband for twelve years, and I thought things were going great. We had our share of ups and downs during our marriage, but I thought we were in it for the long haul.
Caught him booking a holiday together with another girl
That all changed the day I caught my husband booking a holiday for two with another girl’s name.
I was cleaning the house when I heard my husband on the phone in the other room. I couldn’t make out what he was saying, but it sounded suspicious.
I decided to investigate and crept closer to the door. That’s when I heard him talking to someone about airline tickets and a hotel reservation. He was booking a holiday for two.
My heart sank when I heard him use a girl’s name. I had no idea who this girl was, but it was obvious my husband was planning a romantic getaway with her.
I stood there in shock as I listened to him make the arrangements. I wanted to confront him right then and there, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I was too hurt and too angry.
I managed to pull myself together, and I walked away from the door. I knew I needed to confront my husband about what I had heard, but I was scared of what I would find out.
I decided to wait until after he got off the phone to talk to him.
When my husband hung up, I went in and asked him what was going on. He had a guilty look on his face, and I could tell he knew I had heard him.
He told me he was planning a holiday for himself and another girl. He said he had been seeing her for a few months and that he was in love with her.
I was devastated. I couldn’t believe my own husband was betraying me like this. I wanted to demand answers, but I was too hurt to speak. I just stood there in silence as he packed his things and walked out of the door.
That was the last time I saw my husband. He never returned, and I never heard from him again.
