PASSING DRIVER STOPPED TO HELP WOMAN HIT BY TAXI, KENA SCOLDED FOR BLOCKING TRAFFIC

0

A netizen sshared how he witnessed a woman being run over by a taxi at a pedestrian crossing, he then stopped his car and alighted to render aid to the victim.

However, he was scolded by a PHV driver behind him who honked and high beamed him for blocking traffic, thinking that he had “parked by the road side for fun”.

Here is what he said

witnessed an elderly knock down by a taxi. As an immediate response, I activated my hazard lights and alight to render help to the elderly.

After confirming that the taxi driver will take her immediately to A&E, I exchange contact with her just Incase the Taxi driver don’t wan to be held responsible.

Proceeded back to my car and apologize to those cars owner nearby that I may have blocked.

Once I move off, this crazy PHV driver keeps honking and high beam me without realizing what had happened earlier and deem I just park the road side for fun.

Went beside my car to show me hand gestures and scolded me for parking anyhow. I ask him to stop for a talk by he just changed lane and buzz off..

If you are stressed driving PHV, just quit please. Don’t treat everyone as your trashbin.

Netizens’ comments

  1. While it’s true that the PHV need not show you useless hand gestures, you should refrain from blocking traffic even if you want to lend a helping hand.
Your good deed doesn’t justify inconveniencing everyone else. Furthermore, the taxi driver already alighted to help the pedestrian and there was no apparent life threatening emergency.
  2. It is good that the cam car alight, try to help and exchange contact with the elderly.
I think you are doing the right thing.

CRAZY DRIVER DRIVES OVER ROAD DIVIDER TO MAKE ILLEGAL U-TURN, STUCK ON KERB THEN REGRETS

A video emerged online showing an errant driver driving recklessly and endangering the safety of other motorists and pedestrians.

The incident happened on 17 February and was captured on the camcar’s dashcam, and the driver of the Honda Civic was seen trying to make an illegal u-turn by driving over the kerb of a road divider.

However, the manoeuvre failed and the car was almost stuck on the kerb, before the driver reversed the vehicle and back to his original position.

The driver then drove away from his “crime scene”, moving forward before attempting another illegal u-turn at a pedestrian crossing, finally succeeding.

Here is what the camcar driver said

Saw something totally strange behaviour , no matter what the emergency, you should not endanger pedestrians and u turn at red light at pedestrian crossing and before that attempt to cross the road over the Center kerb.

Felt like waking up from a bad horror movie or something. Please have some safety sense please .

  4. Wow which driving school taught you this?
  5. License Buy from shopee.
  6. At least got one thing he did right, signal during the u turn

0

A video emerged online showing an elderly man stopping his vehicle in the middle of the road along the Pan-Island Expressway.

He then alighted from his van before gingerly and dangerously towards a car that was behind him (and filming the incident), as the other cars zoomed past him.

He was seen reaching into his pocket and taking out a piece of paper and he slowly approached the camcar, in the middle of the expressway.

The passengers inside the camcar were visibly confused and bewildered at what was unfolding before their eyes, as one of the passengers asked in Malay, “kesian lah, what this uncle doing? is he trying to ask for help in the middle of the road? Ask him what does he want.”

The elderly man was heard in the video asking for directions from the driver, who told him “a bit further up, one more junction to go.”

Netizens’ comments

  1. Dementia or what? How can stop in the middle of the expressway? Hope this get reported for his safety and other road users as well.
  2. He’s probably doing delivery and can’t find his way but He’s too old to understand he shouldn’t stop in the middle of the express way asking for direction. He should not be driving anymore.

STALLOWNERS @ CHINATOWN RAISE $25K FOR TURKEY & SYRIA EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS

0

The hawkers and merchants at Chinatown have banded together to raise money for the victims of the devastating earthquake that killed thousands in Turkey and Syria.

About 105 stalls took part in the fundraiser and raised about $24,900 in just a week for the victims, according to Shin Min Daily News.

A notice board with a list of the names of the participating stalls and the amount of money that they have donated were pasted on a wall next to the escalator on the second floor of the hawker centre.

The boss of Liao Fan Hawker Chan, Chan Hon Meng, spoke to SMDN and said that he asked his workers if they wanted to donate and help the earthquake victims, and more than 50 workers participated in the donation drive, raising $4,900 in just 3 days.

He said that they have been paying close attention to the tragedy in Turkey and wanted to let his workers take part in the charity, but didn’t expect such an overwhelming response and dedication from them.

The owner of Shang Hai Fried Xiao Long Bao, Jiang, also donated $500 to the cause and said that “when disaster struck, help came from everywhere. We decided to help after seeing the appeal for donations by the Chinatown Complex.

Jiang also added that “since we started our business, we have had support from our customers and so we also hope to help others. This donation drive shows the solidarity that we have, and we want to give back to society.”

WOMAN DISAPPOINTED WITH “HUSKY” CAKE SHE ORDERED ONLINE, DOG LOOKS PAK JIAO

0

Facebook user Niaom Ng shared how she purchased a birthday cake online with an artwork of a cute little huskey on it.

However, when she received the cake, it was nothing like the drawing advertised and it was even off-centre.

Here is what she said

Also sharing my experience with happy.cake.day from Carousell. They never responded to my request to leave feedback as well so I couldn’t. I will let the picture speak for itself, you can judge the quality of the artwork and the off-center positioning of the cake. It was really disappointing since it was a birthday cake.

There was also a delay in the delivery but that would be less of a concern if the cake turned out acceptable. Posting here because they don’t have other channels available for feedback plus admin turned off commenting on the other post.

Netizens’ comments

  1. This baker (I doubt he/she really is an experienced baker!!) is such a JOKE!!! Decorate the Customers Cakes like lousy trial & error arts!!
Please do not show advertised cakes photos in your Carousel, those are done by experienced and well-trained bakers which you CLEARLY ARE NOT ONE!!
Go back to the drawing table and baking class before you sell cakes again.. don’t be a dishonest seller cos the money you gained from it will not bring blessings to your life
  2. Another kitty case.. lol.. the drawing really cannot make it. I ask my sec 3 art student gal draw mayb beta.
Summore I read the previous post, the seller seem tat didn’t realise where the issue. Keep explaining the price for a 1kg cake is $65 + delivery $15….etc.
  3. Think she is busy and ask her kids to draw instead. Lol
  4. These fails surely makes everyone laugh. So in a way happy.cake.day is certainly living up to their name.

BOSS ‘PUNISHES’ HIS FEMALE WORKER BECAUSE SHE CHOSE ANOTHER GUY OVER HIM

Affair with my Subordinate Turned Awry

I am writing to get this off my chest.

Had feelings for my subordinate

2 years ago, I hired her to work directly under me. I later developed a crush on her and when we discovered that the feeling was mutual we ended up getting together.

Because she reports to me directly, our relationship could not see the day of light. We ended up spending most of our time together at her place or mine. The problem was, I saw what we had as a “relationship” but she saw it as simply an “affair” or “fwb”.

Unbeknownst to me, she started a real relationship with someone else shortly after. I felt cheated on and confronted her about it.

I felt like the rug has been pulled under my feet.

She explained that she had no clue I was serious about her because:

1. I never made plans for her to work elsewhere

2. I never told her the words “I love you”

3. I never formally asked her to be in a relationship with me

4. we never discussed about the future (i.e. plans of moving in together, setting up a family etc.).

The thing is, I was very happy and comfortable with the state of our relationship. And she never once mentioned she needed more. I genuinely thought she was happy! We spent a lot of time together and we would talk endlessly over the phone (when we couldn’t be physically together, because we live apart).

Tried to salvage the relationship

Not wanting to “lose” to the other guy, I tried to do 1 – 4 above. I started talks with my friends (of my level) to see if they are willing to take her in so we could finally be open about our relationship.

But how fast that could happen is not something that is within my control. As for no. 4, we started talking about the future but nothing could materialise until she starts working elsewhere of course. But it was all too little too late for her.

Throughout, I felt immensely inadequate. When I finally told her the words “I love you”, her response was “why now?”.

Meanwhile, I tried to make her see how the guy she is with, is no where near as good as me. And the truth is, he isn’t.

Save for the fact that I am her supervisor and I was comfortable where we were and hence did not take things further, I am better than him in every way. Handsome-er, more established in my career, more eloquent, and not to mention, I make a whole lot more than him.

So obviously, the fact that she wanted to be in a relationship with someone far worse than me, was a huge blow to my ego.

Anyway, fast forward, they decided to be together and they will get married soon. The worst of all is how I still needed to work with her. I honestly could not stand the humiliation and to an extent the feeling of betrayal.

Asked her to leave my team

I tried telling her to leave (I think she owes me at least that), which fell on deaf ears. Now I have resorted to actually doing things to make her leave (like not giving her the opportunities or promotion that she deserves).

Recently, she confronted me and asked if I was reprimanding her because she did not choose me.

Honestly, I just wanted her to leave and find another job, because I needed the space to heal (which I have already told her, and which she refused to do). And even if I was reprimanding her, am I all that wrong?

After all, no matter how I see it, I am the one who has been thoroughly wronged here and she is not the least apologetic about it.

WOMAN BROKE DOWN & CRIED BECAUSE SHE NEVER HAD A BF – “I NEVER HELD A MAN’S HAND”

0

A 28-year-old woman from Shanghai, China was seen in a video that has since gone viral on Weibo, breaking down and sobbing uncontrollably because she never had a boyfriend.

She was seen in the video having a chat with her sister-in-law about the pressures that she goes through in her everyday life.

She shared how she feels pressure from her job, money, expectations from her parents and seemingly being single permanently.

She also added that he hair is also starting to turn grey from all the challenges and stress that she is facing in her life.

Candidly speaking to her sister-in-law, the woman revealed that she has never held a man’s hand before in her whole life.

She said that she is unable to find love and has tried almost everything, from going out and meeting new people to going on blind dates.

The woman added that she is also feeling very pressured by her parents to find a partner for herself and that she can’t disappoint her parents.

“I have to brave it out for the blind dates,” she added.

She added that her limited finances are also strained even further because she spends a few hundred Yuan on dining out for each of her blind dates, which she was reluctant to as she lives within her means.

She added that she even begrudged herself for buying new shoes.

On spending her 28th Valentine’s Day alone, she asked defeatedly: “can I finally marry a man that I like in my life?”

18 Feb 2023

Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 133 suspected drug offenders in a two-week island-wide drug operation from 6 to 17 February 2023. 9 February 2023: 32-year-old Singaporean woman arrested for suspected drug offences

On 9 February, CNB officers conducted an anti-drug operation at a residential unit in the vicinity of Sembawang Drive and arrested a 32-year-old woman. A small amount of heroin, ‘Ice’ and various drug paraphernalia were seized from the unit.

The woman’s 2-month-old infant was also present in the unit. The woman, who was under investigation for drugs offences since last year, is suspected to have had used drugs illegally during and after her pregnancy. Appropriate arrangements were made to ensure that the welfare of the infant was taken care of, and the infant was subsequently placed in the safe custody of a next-of-kin.

Station Inspector Marlina Djumadi, a CNB officer who was involved in the operation, said:

“As a parent myself, we will always do things in the best interests of our children. I was saddened to learn that the woman may have continued to use drugs illegally during her pregnancy, possibly endangering the health of her newborn child. Illegal drug use is not a victimless crime – it has dire consequences on families and innocent children. I hope that the woman will be able to get the help that she needs, so that she will be able to better care, protect and provide for her child.”

Investigations into all arrested suspects are ongoing.

ELDERLY MAN BOUGHT A 32 INCH TV ONLINE, RECEIVED A PACKET OF TISSUES INSTEAD

0

An elderly man in Singapore placed an order online and paid for a 32-inch Xiaomi television after being enticed by the cheap price, and getting scammed by the seller.

The 61-year-old, Mr Shen Ruiqiang who works as a train engineer, saw a listing for a 32-inch Xiaomi TV being listed for about USD$138 on Lazada.

He then placed an order for the television straight away.

After waiting 4 days for his parcel, his excitement soon dissipated after he noticed a small pink package had arrived at his home in Chai Chee.

He then immediately realised that he had been scammed.

Shen looked through the shop listing once more and noticed that there was something off about the brand logo, it was listed as “xiao-miss’ instead of Xiaomi.

He said that he had been looking forward to going home that day and finally watch TV at night, but all he got was a small packet of tissues that weight less than 400 grams.

Shen reached out to Lazada’s customer service to request a refund but was told that he had to wait for the seller to agree to the refund and for the platform to evaluate whether it was eligible for a refund, and then go through the whole refund process.

Each step of the process could take about 3 to 5 days and ultimately up to 2 months for him to get his money back from the platform.

Shen then went to the police for help and he was told that he should wait for the platform to refund him, but if he didn’t get his refund then he can report the case.

Lazada has since responded that they have suspended the seller from their platform and that although they detect fraudulent sellers, they also encourage customers to check the price, product and customer reviews before buying anything.

MAN CHEATS FRIEND TO COME TO DRINK, SO HE CAN LEAVE HIM WITH THE BILL

0

I had a plan. It wasn’t a good plan, but it was a plan nonetheless.

I needed to get out of paying at the bar and I had a foolproof way to do it.

I was going to cheat my friend into coming out with me for a drink, and then I was going to disappear before the bill came.

It was Friday night at Jurong Vision Exchange and I was out with some friends at a local bar. We’d been drinking for a few hours, and the bill was getting pretty high. I knew I didn’t have enough money to cover my share of the bill as my credit card is near the limit, so I decided to leave before it came.

But I needed a way to get out without looking like a cheapskate.

That’s when I came up with my plan. I would call my friend and invite him out to join us at the bar. He would think he was doing me a favour by coming out, and he would be happy to pay for my drinks. Then, once he was there, I would sneak away while he was distracted.

I knew it wasn’t the most ethical thing to do, but I was desperate. So I called my friend and asked him to come out for one last drink. He happily agreed, and I was relieved.

When he arrived, I made sure to keep him distracted. We talked and laughed and drank for a while, and then I made my move. I excused myself and went to the restroom. I thought I had successfully pulled off my plan, but I was wrong.

I lost something even more, that friend who took the fall for the bill ended up telling all of our other friends.

He said he had come out to the bar to help me, and he wasn’t going to let me take advantage of him.

I was embarrassed and ashamed. I apologized and offered to pay for my drinks, but my friend refused. He said it wasn’t about the money, it was about me taking advantage of him. He said I should have been honest with him from the start.

After that, I realized how wrong I had been. I had tried to cheat my friend out of money.
