I’m lying in bed with my boyfriend, both of us exhausted from the passionate night we just shared.

As I was laying down there trying to catch my breath, I realize that something isn’t quite right.

Bf was digging his nose with the same fingers he used on me

I look over at my boyfriend and he’s casually digging around his nose with his fingers, the same fingers that he had just used to pleasure me.

I was totally disgusted. I mean, how could he be so comfortable to do something like that? It’s not only unsanitary, it’s also kind of creepy.

Then I realize that this isn’t an isolated incident. Whenever we have intimate moments, my boyfriend has a habit of digging his nose right after.

I’m starting to think that this is more than just a hygiene issue. Is he actually getting some kind of pleasure out of it? Is it some kind of weird ‘craving’?

Or is it just a gross habit that he’s developed over time and doesn’t even realize he’s doing it?

I’m not sure what to do. On the one hand, I’m really grossed out by the whole thing and I don’t think I can continue having intimate moments with him if this is a regular thing.

On the other hand, I don’t want to bring it up and make it into some big deal because I don’t want to embarrass him or make him feel bad about himself.

Decided to let it be and just observe first

So for now, I’ve decided to just let it be. I’m going to try my best to ignore it and just focus on enjoying the time we spend together.

However, I’m also going to keep an eye on the situation and try to figure out the root of the problem.

If I can figure out why he’s doing it, then maybe I can help him find a way to stop. Until then, I’m just going to take things one day at a time and hope that he eventually stops on his own.

I had just spent some money buying drinks for my friend, who had refused to buy me a single can of Coke when I asked.

I had spent about $300 in all excluding my original share and because he knew that I was paying for him, he had gone to town on all sorts of drinks but when it came to me, he refused to even buy me a single can.

Most stingy friend that I have ever made

I felt so angry. I had been so generous to him, and he was so stingy. I had thought that we were friends, but now I felt like I had been taken advantage of.

It was just a can of Coke which cost less than $2 and he did not want to even buy if got me when I asked him if he could help me get a can first as I needed to go to the toilet.

He gave me an excuse by saying that he would wait for me outside the toilet before we go and get drinks, indirectly telling me that he either wants me to get the bill at the convenience store again or asks me to pay for myself.

I sort of told him off a little and said I was thirsty and pleaded for him to go and get a can of Coke for me first, but he pretended like he did not hear anything at all.

When we got to the convenience store, I took a can of Coke and proceeded to the cashier.

I asked him if he wanted anything and he told me that he wasn’t thristy.

However after we walked out of the store, he changed his mind and said that he was thirsty and then went back to get a bottle of drink and paid for himself.

It was clear as F that he did not want to pay for me.

Decided not to hang out with him as often anymore

My friend and I never talked about what happened that day. He never apologized or acknowledged that he had taken advantage of me. He just acted like nothing had happened.

I thought that we were friends, but he showed me that day that he was just a user. I can’t believe that he was so stingy and ungrateful.

I will never forget that moment, and I will never be so generous with someone who doesn’t appreciate it.

When I started university, I was excited for all the opportunities and freedom that came with it. I was especially excited to finally have an allowance of my own; my parents gave me $50 a day to do with as I pleased.

It felt so liberating to be able to do whatever I wanted with my own money. I couldn’t wait to start spending it!

Spends without thinking

I felt like I was finally an adult.

I started to buy whatever caught my eye, whether I needed it or not.

I bought new clothes, went out for dinner, and splurged on other goodies as it did not matter whether I had enough money as every day when I wake up, I would see a $50 note waiting for me on the dining table.

On top of the $50 that I get, my transport expenses were also all paid for by a card which my Mum has supp for me.

So basically, the $50 was all for me to spend on whatever I want.

Boyfriend needs to budget his money, can’t afford my lifestyle

Meanwhile, my boyfriend was struggling to make ends meet. He was also a student, but he didn’t have the same allowance that I had.

He had to budget his money carefully and make sure he had enough for his meals and also other expenses.

While I was spending without a care in the world, he had to worry about where his next meal was coming from.

Began to look down on him

I began to look down on him for not having the same freedom that I had. I wanted him to be like me, able to spend without thinking instead of worrying and complaining that this or that is too costly.

He would mostly suggest that we eat hawker or the most fast foods like Macs or KFC which was still within his budget range.

However, I like to eat things like sushi and while I can see that he tries to accommodate me whenever I want to eat it and just starve for the next few meals in order to afford one meal like that, I couldn’t keep up with his lifestyle of just eating hawker food for most of my meals.

Results became worst

To keep up with me, my boyfriend also took up part time work just to have money to go out with me and eat with me whatever I want.

As a result, he did not do well in his exams and had to redo a few modules.

Yet, I chose to blame him for not prioritising his studies and try to chase money instead, not knowing that I was the cause of it and because he wanted to match up to me and please me.

Broke up with me afterwards

My boyfriend and I broke up shortly afterwards.

He told me that he finally had enough with trying to make me happy and match up with me. He told me that we both belong to different worlds.

I was in one where I had everything easy in life while he had to work for what he wanted.

I was at first angry with him for using such a lame excuse to break up with me but as time when by and I stepped into the workforce, I finally understood what he meant and his intentions.

Now that it has been almost 8 years since we graduated, I couldn’t help but think that if I were to be more prudent and understanding, things between us might not have became this way.

He was really the one that got away.
