0

A 42-year-old man was arrested for allegedly drink-driving following an accident between a Maserati and a Mercedes near the Great World shopping mall.

The man is purportedly the driver of the Maserati GranTurismo.

The Singapore Police Force said that they were alerted to the accident on the evening of 4 February at about 7.43pm.

The accident took place along Kim Seng Road, heading towards Outram road, and involved two vehicles.

A video of the aftermath of the accident made the rounds on social media, with the Mercedes being seen in the video almost turning over after mounting a kerb outside the mall.

The Maserati GranTurismo was seen behind it with its right number crushed and destroyed.

Two of the passengers, a 38-year-old and a 6-year-old, who were believed to be inside the Mercedes, refused conveyance to the hospital.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force assessed one of the passengers to have sustained minor injuries, and at the time of writing, police investigations are ongoing.

Netizens’ comments

  1. Good. Rainy day, and these people rushing to meet their makers instead of being more cautious!
  2. Playing bumper car on the road with expensive car is damn loaded
  3. Workshop towkays all shout “Huat Ah!”
  4. Actually, this junction to turn out is really dangerous. Plenty of blind spots and making it discretionary is quite risky. I dislike traffic lights but hate accidents even more. LTA should review the suitability to add a traffic light.

RESIDENT BURN OFFERINGS ON FLOOR, DESPITE BIN LOCATED ONLY 5 METERS AWAY

Locals seem to have a problem following rules, especially the elderly. They often ignore signs and warnings and instead rely on their own instincts and beliefs.

This is especially evident when it comes to the practice of burning paper offerings at non-designated locations.

This is a long-standing tradition in Singaporean culture, and is often done in order to commemorate the dead or to thank the gods for their blessings. Burning paper offerings is done by burning offerings such as paper money or items such as gold, silver, and other items of value.

This is done in order to ensure that the deceased are provided with everything they need in the afterlife or to thank the gods for their benevolence.

Unfortunately, many Singaporeans choose to ignore the warnings and signs that forbid the burning of paper offerings at non-designated locations.

A netizen who saw the photo said: “His religion should teach about being considerate”

Cleaners and low-floor residents are often the ones that have to suffer from the ashes and the cleaning up.

Here are what netizens think:

  • I think the government should seek advice from religious leaders on the size of the burning bins n procedures. We are a small country and we are also eco-conscious. So coming out with a procedure on how to burn offerings that are both traditional n eco-friendly is important to change our habits. Let us buy the idea not force it on us.
  • Sugar cane can’t go in la, should use the 1 open fencing then no issue.
  • it’s damaging property. There are allocated places for it. Which are specially designated because they’re safe. And one of it is right infront of that spot

BOY ATE MOULDY HOTDOG FROM COFFEE CHAIN, FURIOUS MUM GETS ONLY A VOUCHER AS COMPENSATION

0

Facebook user Keabadian Cinte shared how she bought a chicken sausage roll from a Zus Coffee outlet in Malaysia for her son.

She said that the roll was delicious but when he took a second bite, said that there was an “added flavour” in the roll and that the sausage tasted funny.

They removed the bread from the roll and saw that the sausage was covered in white and green mould, and even the bread had mould from the sausage.

She said, “thankfully he removed the bread from the roll or else he would’ve eaten the whole mouldy sausage.”

She said that the roll was disgusting to look at, and added “who knows how many weeks they have been reheating this bread.”

The woman said that her 8-year-old son had eaten and swallowed about half of the sausage roll without knowing that it is mouldy.

She added that she confronted the staff at the Kuala Lumpur outlet, who then threw away all the hot dogs on display after being informed about it.

She was then reportedly compensated with a “buy one get one free” voucher from the shop as a form of compensation, which she discarded.

The mother added that thankfully her son didn’t suffer any stomachaches from the mouldy sausage roll.

MAN SAYS THOSE THAT TAKE PICTURES & MUST SHOW THEIR ROLEX ARE ‘SHALLOW’

0

I had never been one to judge people for their choices, but I had to admit, I thought people who took pictures with their Rolex watches were very shallow minded.

It was something that I noticed more and more on social media.

They can be taking photo of their breakfast but the main focus of the photo was always their Rolex watch.

It seemed like people were always trying to one-up each other by showing off their Rolex, as if it was some sort of status symbol.

I know that people like to show off their wealth, but it was something that I just couldn’t wrap my head around. Why would someone feel the need to prove their worth by flaunting their Rolex?

It was like having a Rolex meant that they had made it in their lives and that nothing else mattered.

It seemed like such a shallow way of thinking, and it made me feel uncomfortable.

I decided to voice my opinion on the matter in a post on a popular social media platform. I was immediately met with a barrage of comments from people who disagreed with me.

Some people said that I was being too judgmental, while others argued that people should be able to do whatever they want with their money.

I tried to explain my point of view, but no one seemed to understand. I was starting to get frustrated, as it seemed like no one was really hearing me.

I eventually gave up and decided to just ignore the comments.

Unfortunately, my post caught the attention of a few Rolex enthusiasts. They started to send me messages, telling me how dumb I was for making such an ignorant statement.

They also sent me photos of their Rolex watches on purpose and said that I could never afford it even if I wanted to.

I had never expected to be on the receiving end of such hatred and resentment. I had never intended to offend anyone, but it seemed like I had.

I felt awful, and I knew that I had made a mistake by speaking out against something which was honestly none of my business.

From that day on, I learned my lesson. I realized that people take pride in the things they own and that it wasn’t my place to judge them for it.

COUPLE SAY NO POINT HOLDING LAVISH WEDDING, SPEND ON HONEYMOON BETTER

0

My fiancé and I recently decided that we would rather spend our wedding budget on our honeymoon than on the wedding itself.

We have always been fairly independent and have never been the type to need a lot of fanfare to do something, so when it came time to plan our wedding, we knew it was something that we wanted to keep as low-key as possible.

Rather than spend a lot of money to entertain people that we don’t really know or those that will not be there for us in our lowest moments, we decided to just hold an ROM and invite only our family and close friends and then spend more on our honeymoon.

Our families are very understanding and have been supportive of our decision. We have explained to them that we would much rather spend the money on a honeymoon we would never forget.

We have been planning for months and have finally narrowed down our honeymoon to a few destinations in Europe. We can’t wait to embark on our journey and explore the continent.

We know that some of our friends may be disappointed that we are not having a formal wedding, but we think that it’s important to remember that we are doing this for us.

We want to keep our wedding budget low and focus more on the marriage itself. We are more concerned with the marriage than the wedding, and we feel that this is the best way to do it.

We have told our family and friends that if they would like to contribute to our honeymoon, they are more than welcome to do so.

We appreciate their generosity and understand that this is something that a lot of people want to be a part of. We want to thank everyone for their understanding and for supporting us in our decision.

Ultimately, we know that it is our decision and that we can do whatever we want. We just want to make sure that we save enough money to have the honeymoon of our dreams.

We plan on doing a lot of research and saving up the money we will need in advance. We are excited to explore the world and have the time of our lives together.

We are thankful to have such supportive friends and family that understand our decision and are willing to help us make our honeymoon dreams come true.

We are also thankful to have each other and to have found someone we can share this journey with.

We can’t wait to start our lives together and have an unforgettable honeymoon.

A 4-room HDB unit in Tiong Bahru is being rented out for a mind-boggling $6,200 per month, and the rental fee is reportedly the highest amount for a flat for the whole of last year.

Shin Min Daily News reported that the 4-room flat that measures 1,200 sq ft, is located at Block 17 Seng Poh Road, and is among a group of old HDB blocks built by the Singapore Improvement Trust before the Housing Development Board (HDB) came about.

The most recent rental transaction was in December 2022 for $6,200 per month, according to HDB’s website, which broke the HDB flat rental record for last year.

The flat at Block 17 Seng Poh Road isn’t the only unit that fetched a rental fee of $6,200 per month, with another nearby unit, a 3-room flat at Block 35 Lim Liak Street also being rented out for $6,200 per month, despite being smaller than the Seng Poh Road fat at 947 sq ft.

MAN DRINK TILL HIGH SAY HE WILL TREAT, NEXT DAY ASK EVERYONE SPLIT BILL

0

The day started out as a chill drink session.

My group of friends had bought a few towers of beer and to drink just like our usual routine.

We were all having a good time and when we were almost done, my friend decide to keep the party going by getting a bottle of whiskey.

We all started drinking from the bottle and after a few hours, my friend was getting very drunk.

He then proclaimed loudly that he would treat us all to shots.

He kept buying rounds of drinks for all of us and we were having a great time.

After a few hours, my friend started to get a bit too rowdy and the bartender told us it was time to go.

My friend still tried to pick a fight with the bartender but we managed to pull him away.

The next morning, I woke up and remembered the events of the night before.

I was counting the bills from before the shots when I received a message from my friend who said he wouls treat us the shots.

He had split the bill which he said he would treat equally amongst everyone there, including the girls.

In the end, all had to split the bill and it was more than we all had expected.

The rest of us were all a little shocked by my friend’s behaviour and some insisted not to pay because my friend clearly said he was treating.

Instead, my friend denied saying that he had said he was treating the shots and insisted that we all paid our share.

A small argument ensued between some of them which made the situation very tense.

In the end, some of them fell out with my friend because they said that he was not true to his words and they didn’t want the same situation to happen again.

This also taught me never to take a drunk man’s word for what it is.

WOMAN NOT HAPPY WITH GRAB DRIVER FOR TELLING HER TO BRING BOOSTER SEAT FOR HER CHILD

0

TikTok user @jessicachubb shared how she was with her 4-year-old child on a Grab ride home, when the Grab driver told her to take GrabFamily in future if she has kids with her, according to The New Paper.

The woman said that she booked a Grab ride from Katong V as it was raining, and after getting into the vehicle, the driver told her that she should’ve brought a child booster seat or booked the GrabFamily service instead.

The woman added that her journey was just a 2-minute drive and that there were only 2 passengers inside the Grab car at the time.

Her 4-year-old child is shorter than 1 metre, and didn’t meet the minimum height requirement of 1m-1.35m to ride without a child seat, according to Grab’s policies; but the Grab driver still accepted her booking and gave her a ride home.

Her rant has got the netizens commenting that the driver was in fact, well within his rights to reject them, while some other commenters asked her if she’d take the blame if the driver got in trouble.

Another netizen pointed out that the driver still accepted her booking and sent her home, and questioned what was she so upset about.

She has since turned off the commenting on her video.

MAN GOES KTV EVERY NIGHT, BLUFF HIS GF HE DOING ‘BUSINESS’

0

At 35, I had already achieved all the goals I had set out for myself and I was feeling aimless.

I had done well in my career and had a loving family, and relationship with my gf, but something was missing.

I felt like I was just going through the motions of life and needed something to spice it up.

So, I decided to start going to a KTV every night. It was a great place to let loose and get away from the everyday stress of life.

The nights at the KTV were always exciting, filled with singing, drinking, and flirting with the ladies.

I felt alive and carefree, like I was living my life to the fullest.

However, I was hiding this new hobby from my gf. I told her that I was going out to do business every night and she believed me.

I felt guilty about lying to her, but I didn’t want to lose out on my newfound freedom. I told myself that I would tell her the truth eventually, but I never did.

Unfortunately, my secret was eventually discovered.

My gf had noticed that I was coming home late at night and started to suspect something was up.

She hired a private investigator to follow me and he eventually caught me at the KTV.

When she confronted me about it, I lied and tried to deny it, but she knew the truth.

My gf was furious and confronted me with the pictures from the PI.

She said that I had lied to her and broken her trust. I was devastated and felt like I had ruined my life.

I had spent so much time and energy trying to keep my secret and it had all been for nothing.

I had thought that going to the KTV every night would make me feel alive, but all it did was ruin my life.
