2ND ATTACKER WHO SMASHED GLASS BOTTLE ON STRANGER’S HEAD, PLEADS GUILTY

0

Another attacker who was part of a group that attacked a stranger at Clarke Quay, has pleaded to his crimes that were committed a mere 18 days after he was released on a supervision order for drug offences.

20-year-old Taitus Wong Wei Zhi was previously sent to the Drug Rehabilitation Centre (DRC) for the consumption of methamphetamine, before reoffending and ordered to go through informative training two years later.

He was released under a supervision order on 2 March 2022, and was required to stay out of trouble until 15 November 2024, which he failed to adhere to.

He ganged up on 30-year-old Justin Chua Yong Jie and attacked him with his friends near Clarke Quay on 20 March 2022, smashing a glass bottle on his head repeatedly, because his friend thought the victim was staring at hime.

Wong pleaded guilty earlier today (1 February) to one count of assault and one count of consuming methamphetamine.

His accomplice in the assault, Dani Zulastri Mohamad Salim, was sentenced yesterday to 8 months and 3 weeks imprisonment.

The case involving the third accomplice, 23-year-old Mohamad Amirul Shafi Abdullah, is currently still pending; while a fourth man who was present during the attack, 20-year-old Noor Shah Ryzwa Azman, was given a discharge not amounting to an acquittal back in August.

Context

The group of guys were drinking at Circular Road on 20 March 2022 at about 7pm when Amirul showed Dani the knife that he had in his possession.

Dani Zulastri Mohamad Salim, Taitus Wong Wei Zhi and Mohamad Amirul Shafi Abdullah were drinking alcohol on 20 March 2022 at about 7pm at The Mask Restaurant and Bar along Circular Road.

Another Noor Shah Ryzqa Azman was also with the trio at the time, and they shared a bottle of whiskey before leaving the bar at about 10.30pm.

Wong was carrying the bottle of whiskey with him and drinking from it as they walked around the area, and the four drunk men then ended up near the Riverside Point mall along Merchant Road.

They wanted to buy cigarettes and asked a security guard for directions to a nearby 7-Eleven.

The victim was with his friends nearby drinking at a bar before he left and went to the 7-Eleven by himself, crossing paths with Amirul.

Amirul thought Chua was staring at him and attacked him from behind with Wong, who smashed the whiskey bottle on Chua’s head, resulting in him losing a patch of his hair,

They also rained punches on Chua, who had fallen onto the ground by this point, and Dani Zulastri then ran towards them and joined in the assault after hearing the commotion, kicking Chua.

Ryzwa was watching the attack from afar, before fleeing from the crime scene with the trio, running towards the State Courts.

After fleeing, Amirul called Wong and told him that during the attack, he used a karambit knife and slashed the victim three times.

Chua then went back to the bar while he was bleeding to seek help from his friends, and an ambulance was then called.

He was conveyed to the Singapore General Hospital with cuts to his scalp, diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome and given 17 days of medical leave.

Wong was arrested on 29 March 2022 and a sample of his urine was found to have traces of methamphetamine.

His case has been adjourned to 28 February.

MAN GETS MBS VIP MEMBER BECAUSE HE WON $100K, LOSES ALL THE NEXT DAY

0

The day started off like any other. I woke up, got ready for the day, and headed over to Marina Bay Sands casino.

I had been going to the casino for years, but nothing had ever really come of it. I was always content to just have a good time and play some slot machines, but something was different this time.

I had a feeling that this would be the day that something special would happen.

Little did I know that my hunch was spot on. After a few hours of playing the slots, I hit the jackpot. I won $100,000!

I couldn’t believe it. I had never won such a large sum of money in my life. I was elated, to say the least.

The casino staff were ecstatic too. They congratulated me and told me that they wanted to reward me for my good luck.

They offered me a Paiza gold membership (the minimum VIP membership tier) which included access to exclusive VIP areas, promotions, and discounts.

I was thrilled and gladly accepted the offer.

It was at this moment, that he knew, he F-ed up

That night, I was feeling invincible. I decided to take advantage of my VIP membership and stay for a few more hours.

I went up to the Paiza room and was playing high-stakes games and betting more money than I had ever dreamed of.

I was winning a lot, too. I was having the time of my life.

But my luck didn’t last. As the night wore on, I started losing more and more. I kept going, convinced that my luck would eventually turn around.

But it didn’t. Before I knew it, I had lost all of the money I had won earlier that day.

The next morning, I woke up feeling embarrassed and ashamed. I had lost all of the money I had won in just one night.

I was devastated. I had thought that winning that money would be the start of something great, but it had all gone in the blink of an eye.

I learned a hard lesson that day that I will never forget. No matter how lucky you feel, you have to know when to quit.

One bad night at the casino can cost you a fortune. I’m thankful that I didn’t end up in debt, but I won’t be making the same mistake again.

MAN FINED $10K FOR STARVING HIS CAT FOR A MONTH CAUSING IT TO DIE @ SEMBAWANG

0

A man who left his cat at home to starve was recently fined $10,000 after causing the death of his pet.

25-year-old Khairulnizam Khan Kamalrozaman, was initially charged back in August with starving his pet cat to death, but his charge has since been amended to causing it unnecessary pain and suffering by not providing it with enough food and water.

Many people fail to take proper care of their pets. In many cases, people become pet owners without understanding the responsibility that comes with owning an animal.

They may not have enough money for pet food or veterinary care, or they may not have the time or energy to give their pet the attention and care it needs.

Sembawang

According to Channel NewsAsia, Khairulnizam’s offences took place from 25 December 2020 to 2 February 2021.

The cat was kept in his Sembawang flat, where he didn’t feed it enough water and food, resulting in the death of the cat.

He was expected to plead guilty on 26 October but requested an adjournment from the court to raise money for his wife who had just given birth 3 weeks ago.

He also claimed that he had an appointment with the Housing Board that he can’t miss because it would mean his flat being repossessed.

He was then granted an adjournment to December, where he will be pleading guilty to his offences.

The case finally ended when he was sentenced to a fine of $10,000 on Jan 30.

How he got caught

His neighbours caught a foul smell lingering around his unit and called the authorities to step in.

When the authorities arrived they found the dead cat and it was decomposing.

Khairulnizam was unable to pay the $10,000 fine and he was jailed for 20 days instead.

MAN THINKS GUYS WHO WEAR NO.1 ARMY UNIFORM FOR WEDDING GOT EGO ISSUES

0

Like every other eligible male in Singapore, I did my two years of National Service.

I was posted to be an infantry officer and I was proud of what I did and my time in NS. I respect people who wear a uniform and serve in the military.

Recently, I’ve been seeing too many of my peers who always whine about their time in NS getting married but choose to don the no.1 uniform as part of their wedding attire.

This got me to start to think that guys who wear the no.1 army uniforms to get married have serious ego issues.

Here are some reasons why I think so

For starters, it’s a bit presumptuous. It’s as if you’re saying, “Look at me, I’m special because I’m in the military.” It’s like you’re trying to make a statement about your service and show it off.

That doesn’t seem very humble.

The thing is, what are you trying to prove by wearing a no.1 uniform to your wedding?

By marching in with it, its like you and your band of brothers are trying to show off that ‘OH I am an officer’.

Come on, if you guys were really proud of your service you would not have complained and whined like a little girl while serving your two years.

It also takes away from what your bride is wearing, which is usually a beautiful dress. It’s like you’re trying to outshine your own bride.

Also, wearing your no.1 uniform can be a bit uncomfortable. It’s not designed for long periods of sitting or standing.

And if you’re having an outdoor wedding, it’s going to be even more uncomfortable. You’ll be sweating and uncomfortable, and that’s not a great way to start your marriage.

Lastly, I think it’s a bit of an overkill. You don’t need to wear your no.1 uniform to your wedding. It’s not like you’re getting married on a military base or something.

You can still wear a suit or tux and look great. Wearing a no.1 uniform just seems like you’re trying to show off.

I mean, you don’t see a random specialist wearing his smart 4 and wearing his ILBV and chiong-ing in to his wedding with his warfighter cry right?

So, to me, it seems like guys who wear army uniforms to get married have serious ego issues.

They’re trying to show off their service, outshine their bride, and make themselves uncomfortable in the process.

That’s not really the way to start off a marriage. It’s better to be humble and keep things simple. That’s the best way to start off a marriage.

0

According to an article by Today, a 56 year old man by the name of A Mathavan, was given 12 months of jail term for his latest stealing ‘tour’.

A Mathavan had a long history of petty theft offences and in sentencing him to the imprisonment term, the judge had said that hopefully this latest jail term can provide some ‘aid’ to the man.

Mathavan is also diagnosed to be schizophrenic, which is a mental disorder in where the affected person interprets reality abnormally.

Plead guilty to four counts of theft in dwelling

Mathavan had pleaded to guilty to a total of four counts of the theft in dwelling offence.

Another 10 charges, five of a similar nature, four of harassment and one for using words to wound the feelings of other religions and races were also looked into during his sentencing.

He did not had any legal representation but told the court that he was struggling with mental health issues and had committed the theft because he could not survive by himself.

He also told the judge that he could not find a proper job because he had records with the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and he also said that he had problems getting financial aid.

One of the charges against him was for stealing bread

Mathavan also said in court that he did not get enough money to survive which was why he stole bread.

He had also stole other items such as paper notebooks, soft drink bottles as well as shopping baskets belonging to the supermarkets.

The following is what happened

On 14 Sept 2021, the unemployed Mathavan went to Popular bookstore to purchase some items.

He then made payment at the cashier and asked the staff if he could leave his purchased items there and return later in the day to pick them up.

The staff then suggested to him that he choose the delivery service which he agreed and left the shop.

The staff then found out after he left that notebooks amounting to $50 were missing.

CCTV footage showed that Mathavan had took it while he was being attended to by the staff.

He then went back to the same Popular bookstore a few days later to steal a few batteries and also harassed another staff using ‘rude’ words.

Offended again a year later

A year later on 13 September 2022, Mathavan went to a Value Dollar shop to take four cleaning products which were worth around $8.50 and while he was stopped by the shop’s employee, he told her that he did not had any money and therefore the Police were involved.

On another two occasions, one in 2021 September and another in 2022 November, Mathavan stole soft drinks, hygiene and cleaning products as well as three shopping baskets.

He was finally arrested in 2022 November after the Police issued a warrant for his arrest for his multiple shop theft offences.

Wounded feelings of another race

On 16 September 2021, he also used words to wound the feelings of a Malay person at a MRT station.

Has history of theft offences

Mathavan had a long history of theft offences dating back to the mid 1980s.

In 2002, he was given ten years of preventive detention.

In court, Mathavan apologised for his actions and asked for leniency and said that he had problems because his mental condition kept relapsing.

For each count of his offence of theft in dwelling, he could have faced up to a jail term of seven years and also be liable to a fine.

GIRL LOOKS DOWN ON RELATIVES BECAUSE HER ‘ANG BAO’ ONLY $2

0

My parents had always told me to respect my elders, and especially those who had helped me throughout my life.

Growing up, I was surrounded by my grandparents and aunts and uncles who were always ready to give me advice.

This past Chinese New Year, my relatives gave me a lot of hong bao or red packets with money in them.

I was so excited to get the red packets and I thought it was really generous of my relatives to give me so much money.

I expected to get the same this year.

But as I opened the red packets, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed. Most of the red packets contained only two dollars.

I felt embarrassed and angry at the same time. Even though I was grateful for the gift, I couldn’t stop the feeling of receiving only $2 in my red packet.

I had expected more from my relatives because who still has the ‘face’ to give $2 for red packet nowadays.

I was so angry and disappointed that relatives I decided to never speak to them again.

If they can be such misers then there’s no point in me looking up to them again.

From then on, I decided to never trust my relatives again. I thought that if they didn’t think I was worth more than two dollars, then why should I bother with them?

I was so angry and disappointed that I felt like I couldn’t even look them in the eye anymore.

I just want to erase them out of my life and I vow never to entertain them anymore.

EXPAT IN SPORE SHOCKED THAT NORMAL SG OFFICE WORKER EARNS ONLY $3K TO $4K

0

As an expat working in Singapore, I was shocked to discover after speaking to my fellow colleagues that the average Singaporean office worker earns a salary of within $3,000 to $4,000.

I had heard about the country’s reputation for being a wealthy nation, and I was expecting the salaries to be much higher. But the reality is far from what I expected.

I had been living in Singapore for a few months and had done some research into the salaries of the people working here. I was surprised to find out that the average officer worker Singaporean earns around $3,000 to $4,000 a month.

This is less than half of what I earn and I always thought that given the high expenses needed in this country, their salaries should be much more.

The cost of living in Singapore is extremely high and it is not easy to make ends meet on such a low salary.

During one my Grab trips from my place in Bayshore to my officer in Downtown, I found out from speaking to the Grab driver that many of them had the necessary qualifications to get a job in the office.

However, they instead chose to drive Grab either full time or as a side line and choose to be their own bosses so that they can earn more than what the average office worker earns just to make ends meet.

Hearing this, I finally understood the plight many people which I have met during my time here are going through.

Even I myself, earning much more than an average Singaporean, has trouble sometimes trying to keep up with the monthly expenses incurred over here by my family and myself.
