0

A 54-year-old man was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment after pleading guilty to 3 charges of molestation on 30 January.

He had molested his stepdaughter, who was 17 years old at the time, from 2016 to 2019. before the victim told her mother about it and she reported him to the police.

The couple, who got married in 2014, are now divorced.

The man cannot be identified because of a court order protecting the identity of the victim.

What happened?

In 2016, the man was in the living room with the victim when they started teasing each other, and she then ran into her bedroom and closed the door while trying to hide from her stepfather.

He then opened the door and the two started wrestling on the bed, with the man resting his body on top of her before biting her on her chest over her clothes.

The girl then screamed for help and the man then left the bedroom.

The victim’s mother, who was in the kitchen at the time, went into her bedroom to see what happened but the victim didn’t tell her what happened.

On 19 March 2018, the man was with the victim in the kitchen when he tried to kiss her on her lips, but the victim struggled against him while resisting.

The man pinned her down on the floor and touched her private parts as she screamed for help and told him to stop, and she then left the flat after that.

About 3 months later, the victim told her boyfriend about what happened but stopped him from reporting the incident to the police.

The man then attacked her once again on 20 February 2019 at about 8.30am; he grabbed the victim’s right breast while her mother was in the master bedroom.

The victim screamed and the mother then rushed out to see what happened, but the victim refused to tell her mother what happened.

She eventually broke her silence later that evening and told her mother about it and she then lodged a police report.

PRC INFLUENCER FINED S$24K FOR EATING ENDANGERED GREAT WHITE SHARK

0

A video blogger from China was recently fined 125,000 yuan (S$24,313) after eating an endangered animal on her live stream.

She was previously caught in August 2022 and she was facing up to at least 10 years jail for killing and eating an endangered animal.

Somehow she got lucky for her first offense and got a hefty fine and avoided jail-time.

How it happened

In a video, the Food blogger said: “Today, I’m going to take a 100-pound giant farmed shark home to see my aunt…”

In the video, the food blogger named “Tizi” (提子) first came to the door of a seafood shop with a large package and she placed a shark into the package, attracting many onlookers.

Afterwards, “Tizi” brought the sharks back home for cutting and making it into a spicy dish and also grilled the shark meat.

During the cooking process, she put in a lot of oil, peppers and other seasonings, and finally ended with everyone eating the shark meat.

The upper left corner of the video is marked with the words “artificial bred and edible”.

Animal Protection

The video caused an uproar on the Internet. Some popular science bloggers pointed out that this shark is an internationally endangered wild animal, the great white shark, which is a second-class national protected animal.

She responded to the media repeatedly and confirmed with the seller that the source of sharks is regular shark and not an endangered animal.

However, the police in Nanchong, Sichuan confirmed that the shark in the video of the Internet celebrity “Tizi” is indeed a great white shark), and the case is undergoing investigations.

According to a lawyer at Beijing he said that the great white shark is a second-class protected wild animal in the “National Key Protected Wildlife List”. and added that the purchase has violated the provisions of Article 341 of the “Criminal Law”, suspected of endangering precious and endangered wild animals, or will face a penalty of imprisonment of not more than five years.

GF NOT HAPPY WITH THE WAY BF PROPOSED TO HER, HAD TO REDO IT & MADE BF CRY

0

My (27F) boyfriend (29M) proposed and it was a disaster.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years. He proposed to me in a beautiful but public place.

We wanted to take a picture and he told me to ask a girl nearby to take it for us.

She seemed very annoyed that I asked but begrudgingly stood back to take our photo, and this is when he got down on one knee and proposed.

I was mortified that this stranger was taking photos of this moment, especially one who wasn’t very happy to be doing so.

This distracted me and I just felt so embarrassed in that moment, and then she just handed me back the phone without saying anything or congratulating us.

I did say yes, but later cried when we were in the car because of the situation and how embarrassed I felt at the time.

He asked if he could re-do it, which we did in a more private way, and then I said yes again.

I thought everything turned out okay, but it turns out he was very hurt by my reaction the first time. He even cried about it, and I have rarely seen him cry about anything.

I told him that I was so sorry for my reaction and that it had nothing to do with him, that I was just embarrassed that a stranger who didn’t want to be there was watching our moment and made me feel so anxious.

I just don’t know how to fix it. We love each other so much, but I don’t want this to be our proposal memory forever. What should I do?

S’PORE IMPORTING 100MW OF ELECTRICITY FROM M’SIA, ENOUGH TO POWER 140K HDB FLATS

0

Electricity producers YTL PowerSeraya and TNB Genco have reached an agreement to import about 100 megawatts of electricity to Singapore, as part of a 2-year trial.

The electricity is enough to power approximately 144,000 4-room HDB flats in a year, and the agreement was marked with an official ceremony on 30 January.

John Ng, the CEO of YTL PowerSeraya said:

“YTL PowerSeraya, together with YTL Power International, is honoured to work with TNB Genco, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TNB, the national electricity utility in Malaysia, to contribute our part in diversifying Singapore’s energy sources and further enhancing the nation’s energy security.”

“We believe that this is the first step in our vision of a strong ASEAN power grid, where electricity imports may eventually form a key part of Singapore’s energy mix.”

Nor Azman Bin Mufti, the managing director of TNB Genco, said that the agreement was a positive step in strengthening the cross-border energy supply. and he expressed his hopes that the agreement will be the catalyst for future projects in the Singapore market.

The agreement between the two electricity producers will make up around 1.5% of Singapore’s demand for electricity.

YTL PowerSeraya was previously awarded a 2-year trial to import electricity from Malaysia back in October 2021, and is the only electricity producer with experience trading across borders.

The electricity will be purchased from TNB Pasir Gudang Energy Sdn Bhd, which is owned by TNB Genco, before being exported to Singapore.

36 Y.O MAN PREFERS ESCORTS THAN HAVING A GF BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF COMPLICATION

0

Is there something wrong with me for being happy alone? Am I selfish?

Is there something wrong with me? I’m happy but I can’t help but wonder if I’m wasting my life? Or if I am a bad son?

I’m 36 years old, only child from an upper middle class family, went to ACS, and after NS, studied computer sciences in the US eventually getting a graduate degree in machine learning and working for several years in Silicon Valley.

Then my grandfather died several years ago and left me a condo on Orchard Road and I moved back to Singapore.

Since then, I’ve lived like a hermit. I work from home (even before COVID) about 25 hours per week for an MNC. I don’t need to go to the office, I check in briefly with my boss once every two weeks online, I rarely have Zoom meetings.

I have essentially zero friends having lost touch with my everyone when I went to the States. In any case they’re now mostly married and/or on a career ladder with little time for much else.

My life consists of working when I want, eating and sleeping when I want (I have weird sleep habits), watching TV and movies, playing online games.

I enjoy cooking and eating so I set up an awesome kitchen and I teach myself recipes from around the world. If I don’t cook, I walk to a food court or even a nice restaurant nearby.

I’m sedentary but in great shape because I exercise daily in the gym and pool. I collect wine and recently even joined a private wine club on Orchard Road where I go occasionally … by myself… or sometimes with an escort.

I’m not interested in having a girlfriend or wife so yah, I hire escorts for that part of my life. Usually different ones, although I have a few regulars. I like the lack of complication.

My salary easily covers my expenses and the rest I put into ETFs for when I’m old and alone (as opposed to young and alone).

I have a car that I should probably get rid of it. I only use it to drive to my parent’s house for dinner once per week.

They’re in their sixties, still healthy and we get along well. I’m pretty sure they would like me to get married and give them grandchildren, but they don’t nag me although and we don’t talk about it.

I’m content (I think) but I can’t help but wonder if this selfishness is wrong. Should I do more with my life? Should I try to make friends and settle down with someone? Or can I keep doing this till I die?

SPIKE IN CASES OF FEVER & COUGHS @ NANYANG PRI SCH, CLASSES MOVED TO HOME BASED LEARNING

0

Nanyang Primary School has reportedly been seeing a spike in the number of cases of fevers and coughs among their students over the last few days, since 26 January.

The school sent out a circular to some of the students’ parents on 27 January and informed them of the situation.

They have also moved some of the classes to home-based learning for the next 2 days.

The school reiterated that their emphasis is on the safety of their students, which is of the utmost importance, and they will be cleaning and disinfecting the common areas of the school grounds.

According to The Straits Times, Nanyang Primary School had reportedly detected an increase in the number of students with fever, cough and sore throat for 4 days straight.

The parents found out that students across different levels were affected, and the school then “strongly encouraged” their students to wear masks this week.

The principal of the school, Madam Wong Li Peng, said that the encouragement to wear masks was a precautionary measure.

She also added that none of the cases were related to Covid-19, but they have nevertheless stopped all physical morning assemblies and reduced the number of school activities.

Some of the classes have also been moved to home-based learning temporarily.

GUY NOTICES MUM ACTING SUSPICIOUSLY, FINDS OUT SHE HAS BEEN TEXTING VARIOUS MEN

0

I’m (22M) studying in local uni, brother in NS, sis in Secondary School. Parents’ relationship has always been fluctuating, due to differences in education level, lifestyles, perspectives on: life, family, finances etc.

Past two years, Mom abruptly went cold towards Dad (breadwinner), started to abandon her role has homemaker (cooking, cleaning etc.) and started to work full time herself. She also started sleeping on a mattress outside, with the reason of escaping my Dad’s snoring.

Past six months, her hostility towards my Dad and general disregard for the family grew to become more obvious, she still obviously loves her children but she’s mostly not present at home (either out working or with her friends), and my Dad has to pick up on the homemaking roles (buying food for us, cleaning the house).

Us children chip in to help whenever we can, I’ve recognised a need for myself to step up for the family more and have done so to a reasonable extent (although I admit, not as much as I should’ve).

During this six months, we’ve (children) have noticed some pretty suspicious behaviour from my mother, she would be on a messaging app and then quickly swipe away or lock her phone whenever we walk by, pretend to lie asleep while phone is still in her hand whenever we go to the kitchen at night. But we gave her the benefit of the doubt and just ignored these instances.

On New Year’s Eve, my brother and I decided that we should just address this issue that’s been bothering the family for a year or so. We sat down and had a very emotionally intense conversation with our parents which led to all of us getting very emotional. My Mom admits she no longer has any feelings for our Dad and sees no way of reconnecting with him. They’ve both decided to try and work things out themselves. Mom went back to her room to sleep with Dad and they’re finally having conversations (albeit short, but it’s an upgrade).

I was hopeful that things might take a turn for the better in 2023 but Dad came home today and went off on a slight rant about how Mom still doesn’t care for the family and how he’s “tired”. I don’t blame him, he’s reaching his retirement years and he’s still working his ass off and has no one to alleviate a bulk of his burden.

My sister showed me a picture she took two weeks ago, a shot of my mom’s phone with conversation with various men, with messages like “miss you”, “safe journey home”, and “good morning”.

My worst fears have been grounded in reality.

I guess I don’t really know what to do now, my brother is having field camp now so i cant talk to him and I don’t have anyone else to ask for opinions for or experiences with this situation.

Would appreciate all and any perspectives, help, discussions

Thanks guys

21 Y.O WOMAN DIED ALONE AT HOME, BODY EATEN BY HER 5 DOGS WHO WERE HUNGRY

0

A 21-year-old woman in Taiwan, reportedly identified as Ms Huang, was found dead at her home and the authorities found that her body was eaten by her 5 pet dogs, according to ET Today.

Her dogs had reportedly eaten her body because they were purportedly hungry after their owner had died, according to Yahoo News.

The Taiwan police said during a press conference on 28 January that the 21 year old woman visited her family with her boyfriend for reunion dinner on Chinese New Year’s eve at about 6pm.

Huang then felt sick and went back to her home in Taichung to rest, and her boyfriend then went to work after dinner.

However, when the boyfriend returned home at about 10pm, he found Huang’s dead body and notified the police, suspecting that she was bitten to death by her dogs.

The body had reportedly been mutilated by her pet dogs in a gruesome manner, and the woman was then pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased’s face, head and thigh were bitten off until her skull and internal organs were visible, and the body was then sent to the forensics department for further investigation.

Huang’s boyfriend said that she had gone through kidney dialysis over the last two weeks and would develop symptoms of epilepsy, and had to take medicine for both liver disease and epilepsy.

Her home also displayed no signs of breaking and entering, nor was it damaged.

The forensics department said that Huang was eaten by her dogs after she had died and was not killed by her pet dogs.

She was reported to have 2 French bulldogs, an English bulldog, a golden retriever and another dog of mixed breed.

MAN ARRESTED, SELLS VAPE TO STUDENTS FROM WEST MALL RETAIL STALL

On 20 January 2023, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) conducted an operation at a retail outlet in West Mall, and a residence in Tampines, nabbing a peddler who sold prohibited electronic vaporisers (e-vaporisers) to students.

Large quantities of e-vaporisers and related components with an estimated street value of more than $11,000 were seized.

A 36-year-old male subject is currently assisting HSA in the investigation.

HSA carried out in-depth surveillance and intelligence gathering following a tip-off that a retail outlet in a neighbourhood shopping mall was selling prohibited e-vaporisers to students. HSA then mounted a covert operation to catch the e-vaporiser peddler.

The peddler was operating from his workplace at the mall and had stored the prohibited items there as well as at his residence.

A total of more than 400 e-vaporisers and 350 components were seized from these two locations.

HSA would like to remind the public that the Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act prohibits the import, distribution, sale or offer for sale of imitation tobacco products. These include shisha tobacco, smokeless tobacco, chewing tobacco such as Gutkha, Khaini, Zarda, e-vaporisers and their components.

Any person convicted of an offence is liable to a fine of up to $10,000, or imprisonment of up to six months or both for the first offence, and a fine of up to $20,000, or imprisonment of up to 12 months or both for the second or subsequent offence.

In addition, it is also an offence to purchase, use and possess such products.  The penalty is a fine of up to $2,000 per offence.  All prohibited tobacco items will also be seized and confiscated.
