CYCLIST ATTACKED BY WILD BOAR @ PUNGGOL, SUFFERS MULTIPLE FRACTURES

Sharing this post for Awareness for PCN riders at punggol to keep a look out for wildboars. And the importance of Cycling Safety Gears. This incident may happen to anyone passing by this route especially elderly and young children.

My dad was knocked down by an Adult Wild Boar while cycling on 29th November 2022 around 8PM. He is in his 70s. A Seasoned PCN cyclist, cycling 200km – 300km every week for the past 2 years. Weather was good so he took the opportunity to go for a Solo ride.

As he was coasting down the bridge (shown in picture), he noticed an Adult Wild Boar in the opposite direction of PCN suddenly charging towards him from 45degrees and knocking him off the bike. The huge impact caused him to land face down on the tarmac with a cracked helmet.

I can’t stress the importance of wearing a Helmet even when riding on PCN which probably saved his life. Luckily he heeded my advice.

Super grateful for a couple who witnessed the incident and came to help.

They walked him and bike to the nearest HDB block at 669B Edgefield plains before contacting me to pick up and sending to SKH A&E.

His Entire face was covered in abrasions and cuts to eyebrow which require stitches.

Initial Observation was his hands shoulders and collarbone are all intact. But after detailed X-ray and CT scans it was discovered that there were multiple fracture to his cheekbone. Facial Specialist informed him there would be a high chance of surgery as the cheek bones was critical in supporting his eyes and maintaining his face structure. Will be having a follow up visit in 2wks time. 🙏

Am I right for refusing to give some of my money to my dad?

Every Saturday evening, my 69-year-old dad goes to the pub.

Because of the current cost of living crisis, he’s been drinking less because alcohol prices are a lot more expensive than they were this time last year.

I don’t have a job because I’m disabled, so I have an insurance that pays me out money regularly. This payment gives me $1000 every four weeks. Half of it already goes towards my parents’ bills (I live with both of them, along with my twin sister).

Both of my parents are retired now, so my sister is the main breadwinner of the family.

Today, my dad ran out of pub money. He’s not happy about this whatsoever. He hates being stuck at home, and he has an EXTREMELY short temper (so this doesn’t help one bit). I currently don’t have a debit card.

So, about an hour ago, my dad kept hounding me to give him money so that he could go to the pub. I straight up said to him, “No. It’s not your money at all.” He then went red-faced at me, and shouted “YOU LIVE UNDER MY HOUSE, SO YOU LIVE UNDER MY RULES. GIVE ME SOME OF YOUR MONEY NOW!” I continued to refuse to give him my money, so he stormed to his room and slammed the door behind him. He’s still in his room, and he won’t come out until I apologise to him.

Am I wrong for refusing to give my dad some of my money so he can go to the pub?

82-year-old Brazilian footballing icon Pele, issued an update on his health after reports emerged online by several notable journalists (who quoted Brazilian outlet Folha) about him not responding to chemotherapy and having been moved to end-of-life care.

He said on Instagram, “My friends, I want to keep everyone calm and positive. I’m strong, with a lot of hope and I follow my treatment as usual. I want to thank the entire medical and nursing team for all the care I have received.”

“I have a lot of faith in God and every message of love I receive from you all over the world keeps me full of energy. And watch Brazil in the World Cup too!”

The hospital where he is receiving treatment at, Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, issued a statement on 3 December, saying that Pele is in stable condition and that his health status had a general improvement.

Pele has been undergoing treatment for bowel cancer since last September.

CONSTRUCTION CRANE USED FOR DEMOLITION, TOPPLES OVER @ UNIVERSAL STUDIOS

A video emerged online showing a construction crane toppled over at Universal Studios Singapore.

According to The Straits Times, the crane is used for demolition work by a construction company, and it toppled over on Saturday (3 December).

The crane was seen lying on its side in the video that was posted by Facebook user, Jonas De Thuong, as onlookers nearby gawked at the sight.

A spokesperson for Resorts World Sentosa said that no guests, workers or team members were injured in the incident.

They added that the safety of their guests and team members remains their top priority and that they are “thoroughly reviewing the event, cooperating closely with the authorities and have stopped the contractor in possession of the site from any further site work while this review takes place.”

There are currently 42 workplace fatalities so far this year, which is the highest tally in four years.

This is a joint media statement between the Australian Border Force (ABF) and Australian Federal Police (AFP).

​​An international traveller has been issued a $3,000 fine and will have his visa cancelled after arriving at Perth Airport with the illicit drugs GBL and MDMA in his luggage, as well as a quantity of prohibited steroids.

The man was noticed by an ABF officer who took him aside for a luggage inspection when he arrived on Wednesday 16 November 2022 on a flight from Singapore.

He had answered ‘no’ on his Passenger Declaration Card as to whether he was carrying any goods that may be prohibited, however a search of his luggage uncovered around 100ml of GBL, six capsules of MDMA and a variety of prohibited anabolic steroids.

ABF A/g Commander West, Vesna Gavranich said the ABF officer who first noticed the Singaporean national is currently completing officer training at the ABF College, and their instincts were spot on.

“Travellers entering Australia attempting to bring in any illicit or prohibited drug into the country should be aware ABF officers receive world-class training around their important role of protecting our border, and this detection is another demonstration,” A/g Commander Gavranich said.

Australian Federal Police Aviation Inspector Shona Davis said the AFP is committed to working together with the ABF to prevent any amount of drugs from entering the country including through our international airports.

“We are warning travellers arriving in Australia with drugs in their possession, they will be detected and face the consequences of the law,” Inspector Davis said.

After the man was referred to the AFP, he appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday 17 November, pleading guilty to three charges:

  • Importing Border Controlled Drugs, Namely Gammabutyrolactone (GBL), contrary to section 307.3 of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth)
  • Importing Border Controlled Drugs, Namely 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), contrary to section 307.4 of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth); and
  • Importing prohibited import, namely Anabolic Steroids, contrary to section 233 of the Customs Act 1901 (Cth).

The man will be excluded from applying for a visa to re-enter Australia for three years.

CNB aware of his arrest

According to The Straits Times, the Singapore Central Narcotics Bureau has also been made aware of his arrested and is investigating.

There is a chance the man could be prosecuted in Singapore as well, as it is illegal for Singaporeans to use drugs overseas even if it is legal.

She said that the driver remained in his car initially and tried to “look blur”, before alighting and smelling like he had been drinking and was talking slowly.

Watch out for this PHV driver. Stopped at the carpark crossing to let the car pass. The driver stopped and honed and waved us on to cross.

My son and I walked until we were in front of the car, then the driver began to move off. Almost knocked us down but luckily nothing happened.

The driver didn’t want to come out at first and tried to look blur. Then he came out. He smelt like he was drinking and talked dam slow.

Very tired dealing with an insecure colleague.

How do you deal with an insecure colleague who constantly disagrees with you for the sake of disagreeing?

I work with this colleague and I’m new in the company for a few months. Boss seems to be extra nice to me and I do find I may be getting better treatment but that’s also because I believe I got more work done faster than expected. This colleague often shows up late, leaves early and spends her time disturbing others to chit chat. I don’t see her getting much done during office hours. So recently I’ve been assigned to help her as she declared she can’t meet her deadlines. I sensed she wasn’t happy about it as I’m her junior. The way she talked to me, any human would be able to sense her hostility towards me. I may be wrong but I suspect her coldness towards me is that maybe she feel that I may take over her job one day.

It was only when I needed to contact her regarding the projects that I realised she had blocked me. I just want to ride over getting the work done so I emailed her but she doesn’t reply too. When I try to discuss with her at work she would disagree to everything that I’ve suggested. Because she refuses to talk to me, I ended up doing most of the work alone but I submitted both our names as it was originally her projects. All my ideas that she rejected were actually accepted and highly discussed with interest during the meeting so I was sure I picked out suitable highlights to focus and improve on.

Due to the ‘success’ of the first team project, I have been tasked to team up with her again as she still have pending projects. Now, on top of working on my own assignments, I will likely be doing her work on my own again.

On one hand, I didn’t want to completely take over her work as I thought this should be the reason why she is cold towards me. But at the same time, I would really rather get it all done with minimum conflict since she is unwilling to have a proper conversation with me. I am aware my superior has a rough idea what’s going on. I do not wish to cause my colleague trouble too. What can I do to improve the situation? She is very hard to talk to so I really don’t know what to do. I do not wish to involve a 3rd person as I fear making matters worse or start any gossip.

I really like this company and enjoy my work so I don’t have plans to quit because of this. Help!

I met this guy not even a week ago and he has already told me “he will be my friend until he dies”, he is constantly spam texting me, he works nearby so he always comes in on his hour break, and he acts arrogantly a lot and brags about things he’s done.

foodpanda wtf is this? Your rider handed me this bag without even having the integrity to tell me that everything is spilled inside!

I had to open and to find out for myself. This is the second time, today, I am receving spilled items from your rider.

The first was just the drink but this time everything including the food. I was eagerly waiting as did not had my dinner and was so hungry but only to be shocked, disappointed, frustrated receive this trash.

Contacted your help chat and all they could do is to provide me a refund and keep making false assurance that they will highlight the matter to the relevant team because I don’t see any improvements.

The services just keep getting worse! I suggest your riders need retraining on proper handling of customer’s food and need to be upkeep their behaviour ethically.

Honestly i won’t push all the blame to rider… Some vendor/merchant their packaging really lousy… If you take a typical BBT cup but just use a cup cover, definitely will have spillage… But if you seal it 99.99% wont spill unless the seal broke off…

PPS. honestly people who complained spillage etc should try being a rider for themselves for a month… Not saying you cannot complain but sometimes you just need to be in someone’s shoes… No one does a perfect job every time… People screwed up you move on…
