A lot of it is due to the fault of our parents for spoiling her and telling her how special she is. She is beautiful, but by no means is she the supermodel she sees herself as.

However, he didn’t buy the tickets in advance and when they got to the cinema, they couldn’t get tickets for side by side seats and ended up sitting on the opposite sides of the cinema, far away from each other.

I’m 25F, dating a foreign guy who is 3 years older for about a year now. He is great – tall, handsome, works out reguarly, takes care of me, is attentive, great career and awesome in bed.

He is literally the man of my dreams… except for one aspect.

THE CORNERS OF HIS HOUSE HAVE A LOT OF SPIDERS AND THEIR COBWEBS AND I’M AFRAID OF SPIDERS AF. Like deathly afraid – will jump up, shriek, and run.

My family has always been helping kill them… and from young till now, I have never managed to kill one myself. The last time I found one in my room and no one was around, I ran out of the house until my brother came back to kill it.

Where he is from and raised, he doesn’t care about animals/insects and respects them – only killing them when truly necessary if they are pests (such as cockroaches, flies and mosquitoes).

Other insects he will catch and release. He allows spiders to stay in the house as he believes they will keep mosquitoes and flies away by eating them.

So now I’m at a conundrum…he knows I’m afraid of spiders and has been trying to convince me that they are good but I can’t…at the same time he won’t clear the spiders as he says without them, there were a lot of mosquitoes…

It seems kinda lame but our relationship is now at an impasse cause of…spiders. A bit desperate for some advice!

I am currently at a career crossroad. After merely two years full-timing in a deskbound job, I have realised that it isn’t for me. The 9-5 and Monday to Friday grind has proved to me that this is not the life I foresee myself being able to tolerate.

For some context, I am a creative, working in a design company that designs for the interior design industry. I acknowledge that I am privileged to be able to do the work that I do, because it is rare to be able to get paid a decent wage as a designer/illustrator and I do not have to worry about having to pay my bills.

I used to associate that to being successful as I’ve always assumed that it would be difficult and almost impossible for me to find a stable full time job as a creative in Singapore. However after being desk bound and having to stare at a screen all day has really made me depressed and unmotivated in life and am willing to take a pay cut just to get out of this mundane grind. I know I am only able to express these sentiments because of how fortunate I am.

Am looking to get in touch with any Baristas out there who might have any advice on how I should get started. I’ve looked through the skills future courses available but would like to seek out more alternatives first before I jump the gun. I am also spending a month’s sabbatical in Melbourne and would love to know if anyone has any barista courses there that they could recommend! 🙂

I (F,<30) moved back to Singapore after years spent abroad for my studies (undergrad and postgrad) and I’ve noticed some questionable behaviours from Singaporean men I’ve went on dates with. It’s a relatively small sample size but that got me questioning. Some first date experiences I’ve had:

Guy 1 said (word for word) – “you would have never gone this far in life without your parent’s help and support”. FYI, I was on full scholarship and was also paid to do my PhD.

Guy 2 had a very strong English accent (I do have an accent, nothing too strong tbh it’s more of a mix) so I assumed he studied abroad and asked. Well, he did an exchange in an Asian country. Noticing the awkwardness I changed the topic into work (what can possibly go wrong I thought – everything). He started full on bragging about his accomplishments for an hour (his accent was gone by then) and upon discovering I hold a doctorate, immediately changed the topic into talking about horoscope. He then proceeded to brag about how his horoscope is the best. At some point he also commented about how local universities are the best and he doesn’t see a need for people to study abroad. No prizes for guessing: he’s from a local uni.

Guy 3 flat out told me that I need to ask him for his time if not he wouldn’t make any for me because 1. He is comparably more successful than his peers (not sure why this is relevant), 2. He earns more (not true, I just didn’t see the need to reveal mine), 3. I seem to have lots of time (hello, time management?).

There are also some that never made it to the list, like asking for a role play: me as a doctor (I’m not even a medical doctor). Honestly though, do Singaporean men feel the need to put women down, or even worst, treat them like objects? And like I’ve said it’s a small sample size so obviously I am not generalising it to all Singaporean men, I may just be unlucky. I’ve never experienced this when I was abroad so it’s a whole lot of question marks in my head.
