RETURN OF THE THAI DISCOS, BUT INSIDE ALL S’PORE GIRLS WORKING AS A HOSTESS

0

A man shared a story online sharing his recent trip to a supposedly Thai Disco/pub but end up all Singapore girls.

The man stated that the Singapore girls working there gave him all sorts of ridiculous reasons for wanting to work as a hostess.

Here is the story:

When the pandemic hit us, many industries were affected. One of them is nightlife.

Previously, In Thai Discos there are always a lot of siam bu there working and entertaining locals to drink or play the dice and some even have the hopes of finding a husband in Singapore. Likewise, the local customers are also hopeful of finding a girlfriend.

So I went to this supposed Thai Disco joint but when I step in, Inside all the girls working are Singaporean. I don’t know if I too long never step out of the house to drink or if this is the new “Thai Disco”.

Back in the early 90s, there were still Singapore or Malaysian girls working in Joo Chiat as hostesses but it soon died down.

Looks like they are back again. So one of these very young-looking girls joined us for a drink and I asked why is she working there.

This is the reason she gave me

“I like to drink and working here is the highest income I can find”

I did not make any comments and drank regularly. Again another girl came along so I asked the same question again.

She answered:

“I cannot study and work here to earn more”

Another one:

“I single mother needs extra cash”

I suddenly got a flashback to my younger days, Then I started thinking why now so many girls work in this kind of place.

The manager of the place told me that now it is almost impossible to bring in girls from Thailand as it is getting “harder” to do so. Whatever it means.

He also said that now this era of young people is different from our times, they prefer easy money.

MAN SAYS THAT INSURANCE AGENTS LIKES TO SHOW OFF ALOT ONLINE TO COMPETE

0

A Singaporean recently posted on the HWZ forum stated that there is high peer pressure in insurance agencies in Singapore.

He stated how they would thank their leader like a cult and try to entice you to push for sales by showing you fancy cars and houses.

Here is the full story.

Does anyone of you have friends who are insurance agents?

I have a few. And I saw their IG stories, always posting such stuff

– going for xxx appt
– positive quotes only
– thank leader and worship like some cult
– always linking something back to the insurance

New agents usually have an orientation when they just join, or some kind of training camp. In the end, usually they have to present what they want to achieve. I saw IG stories before, on the slides, sure have these items

– expensive car
– condo
– expensive watch
– exotic holiday
– rich retirement

It’s an industry where materialism manifests itself at the very core

The entire insurance industry is operating in a systematically and fundamentally wrong way. Agents’ principals are the company, not the customers. How to act in the best interest of the client?

Makes me feel like they’re Insurance agents are trying compensate for something. Happy people don’t need to flaunt.

Personally, my opinion of them drastically drops. I always had a weird gut feeling about people who needed to flex. It always rubbed me the wrong way. Oh wowie, you have money? Congratulations, good for you, but so what?

There is a huge difference between talking about how happy you are because you’re financially stable in your insurance career and are able to live a good life and flaunting all your cash and assets around. One is a means and the other an end.

HUSBAND WANTS WIFE TO WEAR LINGERIE BUT HE GOES ONLINE TO SEE OTHER WOMEN

0

I don’t like Lingerie but my husband is into it!

Just like the above says, it’s itchy and expensive, I am a bit overweight since covid and work stress (been working on it) and feel insecure wearing it on top of that.

I once sent him some photos of me wearing some and the same day caught him looking at photos of other women online, totally killed the mood for me and just reminds me of that incident. It made me feel like I wasn’t special or just some commodity or something I dunno but it made me feel gross in a way that I can’t really explain it.

He asks but I just don’t want to, I have zero motivation and I feel like it’s just commodifying myself for him or something.

Is it wrong for me to see it this way?

A part of me feels like I should just buck up and do it it’s probably no big deaal, but another part of me feels like that would be demoralizing. On the other hand, I don’t want to hold this incident over him forever but I dunno I just can’t get past it, I don’t know what would help either, we’ve talked about it and he’s apologized but said he can’t help but be into it.

I don’t know what to do or how I can sort of mentally fix this if that makes sense. I’d appreciate your thoughts.

WOMAN PAYS FOR MEAL, EGOTISTIC MALE FRIEND GOES MAD AT HER FOR PAYING

0

Asked my male friend out to dinner. Wasn’t a date. I just wanted to have some food. He was in the bathroom when the bill arrived and since I asked him to dinner I just paid the bill.

He got extremely irritated and explained that it looked like I was “the man in a relationship” and that it’s a “universal cue that when the bill is coming a woman goes to the bathroom while the man pays”. So this made him look like… a woman?

I told him he could pay me back if he was so pissed about this but apparently that’s not enough for him.

It’s about how much I humiliated him in front of the restaurant staff and other guests. I couldn’t help but laugh at this point. I was a waitress for years and I never gave a f who paid the bill.

After a bit of back and forth apparently, the only correct way for me to pay the bill is to either slip him cash or a card and let him hand it to the staff.

You’ll I just can’t with this bull. This is a 33yo man. 33 YEARS OLD. Freaking out because I, his good friend, PAID FOR HIS FOOD WRONG.

Lord help me.

BF BUYS EXPENSIVE CONDOMINIUM TO SHOW OFF AND TELLS LOWER-INCOME GF TO PAY HALF

0

My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years. We have our issues about each other, but accept them for the most part. That is, until we bought our condominium together.

Our loan instalment comes out to 2900$ a month. He makes 95k a year while I make 42k in comparison. However, he insists we pay the instalment as evenly as possible (1370 and 1180 a month respectively) because his argument is that we share an equal amount of space so we should pay the same amount. This transcends into us splitting costs (bedding, meals, bills) equally.

Before you assume I’m a gold digger and I do not pull my weight, we eat almost all our dinners and weekend meals together, and because we eat out so much, it comes out to $500 in purely food expenses for me.

He doesn’t want to cook any of the meals and even though I make my lunch and breakfasts consistently at home, we go to mid-end restaurants every time we are together.

I make about 2300 per month after the deductions. However, after utilities, ezlinkcard (I don’t own a car and travel extensively throughout the day for my job), my gym membership, instalment, food, internet, and all the other finances of life, I am barely breaking even while he puts away half of his paycheck into his retirement account.

Our weekend activities are not cheap either.

Museums, trinkets, travelling, it all adds up and when he pulls out his wallet to pay and I don’t take it instead, he gets upset with me that I don’t try to pay him back.

When I confronted him about my budget and spending, he said I just have to manage my money better. He doesn’t take me seriously or my concerns, and I am so fed up.

I still love him, but I cannot do this anymore. Am I wrong to not want to pay about the same for the instalment? Is he in the right?

WIFE TELLS JOBLESS FOREIGN HUSBAND TO LEAVE AS HE USED HER LIKE A BANK

0

I (42F) moved in with my now husband (37M) a little over 2.5 years ago when the pandemic hit. My income disappeared and he has never had a proper income because of the economy.

We struggled every day for every dollar just to eat and pay for the basics. We were happy and developed a deep love for each other.

I’m now employed online and we live in a normal house. I’m supporting both of us and his dreams of opening a business of his own.

He has anger issues. He recently threw my handphone at the bed in anger and partially ruptured the tendons in my ankle. I’ve forgiven him for things and it doesn’t help that my reaction to being yelled at is to yell back. This has gotten better as we have worked on it.

The business needs everything. I’ve paid out $10K cash already and this is after the FIRST one I funded for him last year which tanked. He says he wants the business to provide for me so I don’t have to work anymore. He has felt inadequate our entire relationship because he’s not making money which is why I’ve been devoting all of my income to support him.

He says that once the business is open he may have to stay late at times and I need to be flexible with my expectations. I understand but our marriage always needs to be first priority.

He had the signage printed for the windows. English is not his first language and because we want the business to look attractive to tourists, we are using English. He texts me to show me that the signage done – much to my surprise. And it’s spelt wrong.

I explained calmly that it needed to be corrected before we pay. I asked to be included to proof the changes before it was reprinted. Instead, he promised me the guy would fix it, took the money out of the bank, paid him, and had it reprinted And it’s still wrong.

I told him he tricked me into paying for signage that was wrong when I said we wouldn’t pay until it was corrected.

He stayed out until 9:30 last night. He said he had been at the shop and had texted me to let me know. But he had texted me at 7:30. I’m not allowed to question him otherwise I’m trying to be controlling.

He got the cash out of the bank for the monthly rent and I asked him last night if he paid it. He said yes; he showed me his wallet and that it was empty. I asked him where the receipt was; he said at the shop. I said then you’ll be able to bring it home tomorrow and he said yes. I asked where he got the money for the new lighting he installed and he froze and said, “I made a mistake. I’ll fix it.” (He used the rent money.)

And I told him the business is obviously more important than me, all I am to him is his bank, and I won’t do it anymore and that our relationship is over. I’ve given him the option to talk about our problems and today either make a final decision as to how to function as a couple or to go our separate ways and his response was that I clearly want to be free and want another man and am tired of him.

Should I put an end to it?

APPLE ADMITS MAJOR SECURITY RISK FOR iPhone, ipads and iMacs, HACKER CAN TAKE FULL CONTROL

0

Apple has warned that the company’s iPhones, iPads and imacs have serious security risks that could give attackers complete control over the devices. The tech company acknowledged the issue in its new security report, acknowledging that it was “aware of reports that the issue could be actively exploited.” Security experts say users should update all affected Apple devices.

These include iPhone 6s and later models; several iPads, including all iPad Pros and iPad Air 2s of the fifth generation and later; and Macs running MacOS Monterey. This issue also affects some iPod models.

Rachel Toback, chief executive of SocialProof security, said the company’s explanation for the problem was that a hacker could gain “full administrative access to the device” and “execute any code just like you”.

Apple did not disclose further details about the attack or who carried out the attack. Apple says its latest update provides “important security updates and is recommended for all users.”

The company’s iOS 15.6.1 update comes a few weeks after the release of iOS 15.6.

The vulnerabilities were reportedly reported by anonymous researchers.

“Apple iOS 15.6.1 is an important update,” said independent security researcher Sean Wright, and the vulnerabilities highlighted by Apple “could be chained together to give an attacker full remote access to a victim’s device.”

To upgrade to iOS 15.6.1, go to the “General” tab in settings, then the “Software Update” tab.
