GIRL “FORCED” BY MUM TO BUY INSURANCE FROM SISTER WHO IS AN INSURANCE AGENT

0

I am a 24F and my sibling is a financial adviser. We are not at all close and the only reason why I bought a life insurance with her was under the “advice” of our single mother.

I only started working this year and I can’t help wondering – is there value in having a life insurance?

I understand it as a pay out upon death (or disability?) and truly the beneficiaries are the family members – but what if I am working towards building my own wealth and not relying on my future kids / family to take care of me?

Won’t the life insurance be meaningless in my situation? Any thoughts?

Netizens’ comments

  1. The term insurance that pays out on your death is more for the ones you’re leaving behind. If you die before retirement age, that could be a financial pressure on your dependants (e.g. if you have children, your spouse would have to support the children without your salary after your death, so the insurance payout would be to help them), and for disability, it’s basically in case anything happens to you before you’re able to earn enough money to retire. It’s a precaution because we never know what may happen to us.
  2. As a financial advisor, I also advise against buying whole life insurance… insurance is not meant for profit, it’s meant to replace lost potential income.
I would recommend you to just get term insurance which gives a lot higher coverage with lower premiums. Oh yes don’t forget hospital policy, this most important.

HUSBAND SMACKS WIFE IN THE FACE BECAUSE SHE INTERRUPTED HIS VIDEO GAME

0

My husband hit me for interrupting his video game

My husband is usually gone working, at the gym, or out with his friends. When he comes home, he goes straight to playing video games.

I understand he wants to relax. I bring him dinner, drinks, whatever he asks me for. In the morning I bring him coffee and breakfast. I take care of his laundry and everything. He provides a good lifestyle for me and our child and I like doing nice things for him. But I feel neglected by him. I feel like there’s a hole inside of me. All I want is a little emotional connection and affection.

We rarely spend any time together. He doesn’t talk to me about anything. He’s not mean but he is distant and cold. He is very indifferent toward our son and barely looks at him.

He doesn’t kiss me or comfort me unless he wants to sleep with me. Is this normal? I let him even when I don’t feel like it because I savor what closeness I can get from him. It sounds so pathetic but I almost cry of happiness and I wish it would last forever. When he’s finished, he’s back to disregarding me.

He buys me gifts which tells me he is thinking of me and I do appreciate them. But if I hug him he just puts a stiff arm around me or gives me a quick peck on the cheek.

I’ve wanted to tell him how I feel for a while but I couldn’t find the right words and time. I didn’t want him to think I didn’t love him.

He was playing a game last night. I brought him a drink he didn’t ask for as an excuse to see him. He said that I look sad and asked what was wrong. It felt good that he noticed for once so my feelings slipped out.

He said “I’m focusing right now, I’ll talk to you later.”

I rolled my eyes and muttered “sure you will”. He put his controller down, came over to me and hit me with the back of his hand. It was so forceful I stumbled and he steadied me.

He said “there’s your attention, don’t interrupt me again”.

This morning he told me that he shouldn’t have hit me so hard. Before he left he told me “I’ll take you somewhere nice soon, I want to see you smile”. He said he loves me. He usually doesn’t say more than “I’ll see you later”.

I feel surreal. My face still aches. I had to get this bruise for him to show me the little softness I want so badly?

LANDLORD RENTED OUT ROOM WITHOUT CONTRACT, WANTS TO SUE TENANT FOR VANDALISM

0

I am a Singaporean HDB owner. I recently rented out one of my rooms to a tenant, I have to admit that it was a short-term rental for about four months, and there was no paper contract signed between us.

But I have his facial image from the security camera I placed in my living room.

Recently, an argument broke out between us and after he moved out, I found out that he vandalized his room with paints and water stains, and holes on my walls.

I want to ask if there is anything I can do. Like, will the police arrest him given that I only have his facial image?

How much can I get from him to compensate for his damage to my property?

Netizens’ comments

  1. No black and white contract, illegal short-term rental in HDB. (Pretty sure never register tenant details with HDB haha).
I think you should just cut your losses and move on.
Ps. You do realize that HDB can literally repossess your flat back if you do something stupid like that right?
The so-called ex-tenant can report you and you get screwed instead.
  2. Did you inform HDB that you rented out your room? If you didn’t, what you did is illegal so you’d just have to take the loss. Worse is that there was no contract signed.

GIRL LIVING ALONE, SCARED BECAUSE DELIVERY-MAN LEANED IN & “SCANNED” HER HOME

0

Delivery man scanned my apartment when I opened the door

I was craving for some fried chicken so I ordered some food. When I opened the door, the delivery man leaned in and took a scan at my apartment. He didn’t even try to hide it.

Now, I’m a girl living by myself so this is alarming to me. I talked to a guy friend about what happened but he didn’t understand why it was such a big deal.

Maybe I’m just being paranoid but it seems right to me to be cautious while living alone.

Netizens’ comments

Looking into your apartment from the front door, do you have anything inside that is eye catching? Like bright colors, interesting furniture, artwork, animals roaming around etc.

I’m only asking because it’s possible him looking around wasn’t nefarious. Maybe he was admiring the space or curious about the layout. I’ll be honest, if someone has their door open, I will 100% try to casually look inside and see what it looks like in there even though we have the same layout. It’s just human nature, many people are naturally curious of how other people live and what they have in their spaces.

Of course you have every right to be concerned and if you feel like something was off then take the proper precautions.

Like others have said, get another lock and maybe a doorbell camera. There are many apartment friendly ones you can install.

In the future, I would say to just ask the delivery person to leave the food on the doorstep if you don’t need to give them any money. If you do need the door open, just crack it a little bit instead of having it wide open.

MICRO MANAGER HIRES ANOTHER MANAGER TO MICRO EVEN MORE

Manager too free

i used to report to my senior manager. but she micromanages us resulting in tardiness in her own work. so management hired a new manager for us to report to.

since new manager came in and took over much of the leadership role, senior managers seems very free.

-request meetings for most trivial matters

-correct our work by adding on our roles

-holding multiple retraining sessions whereby most of her words are “u go read in the website” while telling us that she holds such sessions to add value to our job

-tell us to brain storm how to add value to our job but did not give example or directions

we are already overloaded. everyone will frown when she starts talking. it means pointless talking. we suspect all the above are things she try to do while trying to pass her time and not by directive of management.

We dont have issue with new manager in case you are wondering. in fact new manager tries to reason to her only to be shot down by her senior manager.

sometimes i wonder why company opens up a new role without re-considering the roles of these 2 managers ?

Here are what netizens think:

  • May be longer term plan is to replace the Snr Mgr?
  • Senior mgr eh? overpaid and klkk type and then know when to appear busy, who to impress and how to create unnecessary work, LOL.
  • Because they got budget and need to resolve that senior manager problem.
  • Very normal. Adding on unnecessary layers and positions just to prove the point that they are being cost effective

The Taiwanese AV actress known as “dolly” has a height of 172 centimetres, plus an H-cup and she is known as “Taiwan’s most active AV actress”, attracting many male fans.

Unexpectedly, it was recently rumoured that his ex-boyfriend beat her up. She was beaten and injured all over her body. He also caused the 3 upcoming films which are in production to stop. She was greatly traumatized both physically and mentally.

Dolly said that the conflict between the two was caused by the fact that after she broke up with her ex-boyfriend, the other party still asked her to meet. She thought that the relationship could be salvaged, but after they slept together, she was shocked to find that her ex-boyfriend had a new girlfriend, and she was heartbroken.

She consumed a large number of sleeping pills, and the ex-boyfriend not only did not comfort or help to send her to the doctor, but instead pressed her to the ground and beat her brutally, and punched her in the face with fists for up to 5 minutes.

He only replied: “Our common living expenses!”

MAN HAD TO LIE TO HIS FAMILY AFTER LOSING HIS JOB, “FAKE GOING TO WORK”

0

I was fired from my job.

It just happened so suddenly; physically not well due to COVID, made a mistake at work and I lost my boss’s trust. While it seemed that I resigned on paper, in reality, it is more of a termination.

Like many people who are still in the infancy of their careers, I am still staying in my parent’s house. Of course, that meant that my loved ones would be worried if I said anything. Luckily, since working from home became relative normality, I can just act as though I was working from home, when in reality I am behind the monitor, sending resume after resume to find a role that suits me.

I had to create a story of why I left my role to my prospective employers.

I had to create a story whenever I went out for an interview as though I were going to my fictitious office.

I had to create a story whenever I wore a smarter-than-usual shirt for an online interview.

Failures, after failures, and even more failures; hiring freezes due to the world’s circumstances, being outmatched due to lack of experience, or simply being off-form for the interviews, I had experienced it all. Fortunately, after months of searching, I somehow managed to successfully get a new role.

However, the story is not over. I have to continue with the act. I have to act as though I am unhappy at my non-existent job. I have to act as though I resigned, and I have to act as though I am transiting to my new job. Once we reach the story finale, everything will be back to normal. It will be a new beginning.

I do not care if all the stories are a bunch of lies; I believe I did the right thing.

1ST SUSPECTED CASE OF HUMAN-TO-DOG MONKEYPOX TRANSMISSION DETECTED

0

According to a publication in The Lancet (a medical journal) by scientists last week, they have found evidence of a human-to-dog transmission of monkeypox.

Prior to the discovery, it was previously unknown if the virus could be transmitted to dogs.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have since updated their monkeypox guidance to include dogs as animals that are susceptible to infection.

The case in question was documented in France, after a pet dog was suspected of contracting the monkeypox virus from its owners.

The case involved two male partners who live together and were also sleeping with other partners, they displayed symptoms of monkeypox a few days after sleeping with other people.

About twelve days after they displayed symptoms, their pet dog developed lesions and eventually tested positive for the monkeypox virus.

The men had reportedly slept alongside their dog, and according to reports, they had been careful not to let him come into contact with other people or pets when their own monkeypox symptoms began.

The CDC recommends that persons infected with monkeypox, should avoid any close contact with animals, and that their uninfected pets should be taken care of by their friends or family in a separate home until the owners recover from the infection.
