A flat in Bukit Batok was sold in July 2022 for a price of $1.005 million SGD, which marked the first time a HDB flat in the Bukit Batok estate reached the Million Dollar resale club.

The flat in question is an Executive Maisonette flat and it is located at 289D Bukit Batok Street 25.

Lease of flat another 74.5 years

According to data provided by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) on its resale flat price, the flat has 74.5 years remaining on its lease.

The area of the flat spans 1,776 sq ft and it is on the fourth to sixth story of the block.

The price per sq ft is at $566.

Other flats resold at more than a million dollars

The flat which was sold in Bukit Batok is the fourth flat which was resold for more than a million dollars in a non-mature estate, with other estates being at Woodlands, Yishun and Hougang.

In the same month, a flat in Marine Parade was also sold for more than a million dollars for $1.01 million and had around 51 years and 9 months remaining on the lease.

Record month for HDB resale prices

July 2022 is also the month where HDB flats recorded new records in terms of its resale prices as another flat in the Dawson estate, a 5 room HDB flat, was also sold for $1.418 million.

In response to the United States of America (USA) House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi’s, travel to Taiwan to visit the island, China had started to hold live firing military exercises around the island since 4 August.

Pelosi’s travel to Taiwan is of upmost significance due to her position as she is second in waiting for the US presidency and it is also the first instance in 25 years since the highest ranking US official made a trip to the island.

China then reported that it would be conducting exercise in six different zones around the island, indirectly sending a message that it has the island surrounded.

They have also gave warnings to flights to avoid travelling into the zones where military exercises will be conducted.

No SIA flights travelling through Taiwan’s airspace except for those bound for the island

Singapore Airlines (SIA) had mentioned that at the moment, its aircrafts, both passenger and cargo flights were not travelling through Taiwan’s airspace.

The only exceptions are flights SQ878 (Singapore – Taipei) and SQ879 (Taipei – Singapore).

It only mentioned that SIA will be closely following the situation in the region and will make any necessary flight adjustments if the need arises.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) also had mentioned that on 2 August, China had sent a notice to all airlines banning all flights from travelling through areas which they would be carrying out their military exercises.

They added that Singaporean aircraft carries have all acknowledged the message and would alter their flights to avoid those affected areas.

The dead body of a man was found inside a canal at Geylang East Park earlier this morning (5 August).

The area was cordoned off by police officers who arrived at the scene at about 9am, and multiple police and SCDF vehicles were seen at the scene.

Several plainclothes police officers were also at the scene, along with Gurkha officers and police dogs who arrived at about 11.15am.

Witnesses there spoke to TheHomeGround Asia, saying that the deceased in the drain was half dressed and that there was also a pool of blood near the canal where he was found.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
