SG NETIZENS SHARE THEIR RELATIONSHIP DEAL BREAKERS ONLINE

0

A post was seen online where Singaporean netizens shared about what were the different types of relationship deal breakers enough for them to end a relationship with their significant other.

At the time of writing, there were already 170 comments shared by netizens.

Here are some of the comments

  • not a fan of smoking; one can be hot af but the moment a cigarette is lit, it’s gg for me. no offence to smokers. it’s just not my thing.
  • when my partner keeps comparing me with others (can be anything in terms of looks, status, wealth, etc). anyway I don’t have this problem because I am single af with no matches since I am subpar
  • Incompatibility in ideology where one person see something as normal or beneficial while the other see it as immoral or evil.
  • Difference in opinion about children. Be childfree all you want, good for you, but I want kids. When I was still dating, opinion about children is one of the first few things I talk about. Idgaf if people think it’s something that’s “too soon to talk about”, I wasn’t going to waste my time on someone if they don’t share the same views on me about that.
  • Maturity. Not actual age, but how mature they are (I’ve seen a 35yo teenager before)
  • Pretty much anything really. I thought I needed a partner’s support to reach my full potential when I was younger. Now I realised I’ve been through quite a bit and made it out better, so I think I’ll be fine on my own. Not at all convinced I need a life partner to live a whole, complete and fulfilling life at all. I just need to set goals I want to achieve and you guess the rest. That’s the key to a happy life.

WOMAN WORKING IN “PRESTIGIOUS” BANK OVERWHELMED WITH WORK, HIDE IN TOILET TO CRY

0

I’d like to share my story. I started working for a prestigious bank after graduating in 2018. I had aimed to stay at least 2 years but after literally 2 weeks I was already sending out resumes to other firms. I was unfortunately placed into a team with the most workload in the department.

There was so much work my teammates and I would mostly tabao and eat lunch at our desks, and we were OTing like everyday. I only managed to stay with them 9 months but I vividly recall crying in the atas toilet and crying on the grab home at 2am every month end.

I had nightmares, mood swings, panic attacks before month end and fell sick very often from burning the midnight oil. I had sought advice from my family and boyfriend but they just told me to stop being such a pussy. (Great support system right)

Because I was always applying for jobs, I had to secretly attended my job interviews during my lunch break, lying to their HR that my current job didn’t allow me to learn much and other excuses (just employ me plsss). I think I attended close to 15 interviews before landing a FT offer at an MNC, and the HR assured me they adopted a good work life balance culture.

I deliberated this offer for awhile as I wanted to see if there were better ones. At that time my mother had to suddenly undergo surgery so I requested to take leave to look after her. My manager said no. The leave quota had already been filled so I had to work.

That was the final straw for me. To me I had been working for 8 months, OT-ing daily, suffering so much and my manager was indirectly saying “work comes first, I don’t care about your family”.

I stepped outside my office and used my phone to email the other company accepting their offer, went back to my desk and did what had only been a dream to me since week 2.

I copied a resignation template off Google, typed in my notice period with my last day of service, printed it and handed it to my manager. It was 31 Dec 2018, what a way to start the new year right.

Served my notice, got out of that hellhole and started my next job at the MNC and I’m still working here today. I really love what I do now and am so much happier. Plus I get to leave work at 5pm on the dot 今天明天every天 yayy. Absolutely zero regrets quitting my previous job.

I’d say that if you’re financially able to sustain yourself in the next 6 months pls do your mental health a favour and leave. But before you start on your next job ask yourself what is the problem with your current role. Do you not like the type of work? The people? The amount of work? The culture? etc…

Once you can identify the issue, address it in your next job interview, see what your prospective employer has to say and gauge if you’re a good fit for the role.

ELDERLY MAN ATTACKED BY 4 TEENS @ JURONG – “HOW CAN I POSSIBLY FEND THEM OFF”

0

A 67-year-old elderly man was reportedly robbed by 4 youths while on his way home at Jurong East from the hawker centre.

The incident happened on 13 July at about 6.15am, at Block 225A Jurong East Street 21.

The elderly man, Mr Chen, was walking home from the Yuhua Village Market and Food Centre when he was attacked and felt an impact on the back of his head.

Speaking to Lianhe Zaobao, Mr Chen said that he was stunned at the time, and he then turned around to see who attacked him.

It was at that time when someone tried to take his valuables from his shirt pocket, and he then used his hand to protect his pocket.

He told Zaobao that he saw about 4 people aged between 13 to 16 running away from the scene, mocking him as they fled.

He then followed them for about 500 metres after noticing them wearing same shorts and suspected that they were from a school nearby.

The teens then realised he was following them and attacked him with a broom, hitting the back of his head and knocking him onto the ground, and kicking his hand.

Chen said that he only had $6 in his wallet but the young robbers didn’t know, and that they were “young and strong, h ow could I possibly fight them off?”

He later made a police report and the four young robbers were identified in the police’s CCTV footage.

The youths were later arrested for theft and theft in dwelling, and will also be investigated for their assault on Mr Chen.

MAN SAYS WHEN LOANING MONEY TO FRIENDS, DON’T EXPECT IT TO EVER COME BACK

0

I know there are people out there who have loaned friends money before. My main question is do you regret it or not and if so why?

Long story short; I am doing fairly well for myself, 32 have large savings and am paying off a mortgage on my own house. That being said I have loaned friends money to stay out of debt many times, as I already went down the road and it is hard to rebound. 90% of the time they make it up but there always are the cases where they just can’t.

Most recent situations:

  • My best friend’s kitten had broken its leg and I covered the medical bill as my friend had no way to pay it.
  • I noticed my friend struggling to survive the month so I decided to halve his payment and asked him to set a budget for his pot use.
  • An old friend will generally come to me if she ever needs help and 9 times out of 10 she repays any loan. However her classes interfered with her work schedule and she is in the process of looking for a new job, so I won’t see the money anytime soon. I told her to just focus on school as the loan I gave her was for her books.

Just want to clarify, in my situations I always can part with the money I loan out. I don’t give my friends a timeline or anything to pay me back, I just say here is the $$ pay me back whenever you can if you don’t I won’t be helping you next time. The thing I’m trying to find out is if people have good/bad stories about loaning money to a friend.

Moral of the story, When you loan money out don’t expect it to ever come back

EMPLOYEE IN SMALL LOCAL BUSINESS CLAIMS BOSS OVERDUED HIS WAGES FOR 2 WEEKS

0

A post was seen online posted by a netizen who works as an employee in an unknown small local business.

In the post, the employee says that he or she has been working for the business owner since May and at the start of July had sent his or her timesheet to the boss.

The employer also told the netizen that the wages would be transferred to them by a end of a particular week but the employer ended up owing the netizen wages till date.

Here is the story

“I’m working part time for a small local business with <5 employees since May. I sent my hours to boss at the start of July, boss said will transfer by end of last week, I asked again this weekend, still unread. I haven’t had to work again so no chance to ask in person. Its not a very huge amount (500-1k) but I’m worried as I didn’t sign any contract and everything was over messaging. Should I contact boss again?”

Here are what netizens think

  • Please don’t ever work without a signed contract. You are still due your salary regardless but not having a signed contract makes it a little more difficult to throw the book at the errant employer.
  • If the key terms of employment (e.g. pay and hours to work) were mentioned and agreed upon in your messages, you do have a contract. Please file an employment-related claim at the TADM website ASAP if your ex-employer still does not reply. There is a time limit on these types of claims. Ofc, give chance first la. Bug them a bit more, then tell them you’ll report them if they don’t reply/ pay up first.
  • Call him lah. Tell him your grandmother needs the money to pay doctor. When can he transfer to you. Sometimes people very busy never read text.

MAN BOUGHT 24K GOLD CHAIN FOR $8K TO SHOW OFF HIS SUCCESS, END UP IT’S FAKE

0

A netizen shared how he bought a 24k gold chain for about $8k to show off how successful he is, but later found out that the gold chain was a fake.

Here is what he said

I recently made over $30k from crypto after investing in Ethereum back in April, and its price has been steadily increasing ever since.

I wanted to show off my success by buying a gold chain, and I thought going overseas to buy would be much cheaper than buying the gold chain in Singapore.

So I went to Bangkok all by myself to look for cheaper gold chains and also to unwind a little bit, get drinks and have a short holiday there.

I mingled with the locals and met a woman who told me that she deals with gold jewellery at prices lower than the market.

I then went with her to her shop bought a 24k “solid gold” handmade gold chain that was about 20 inches for about $220,000 baht (SGD$8,300+) and was very happy with my purchase.

I went around the bars wearing the huge chain on my shirt, feeling the eyes on me.

I came back to Singapore and continued wearing the gold chain whenever I went out, feeling very proud of myself and like I was on top of the world.

It is amazing how jewellery can boost a person’s self-confidence, even as a man.

It was not until 3 weeks later when the gold colour of the gold chain started fading off, did I realize that the “gold chain” that I spent $8.3k on was actually a fake.

And just like that, my self-confidence came tumbling down from the sky.

I went back to bkk to look for the woman who sold me the gold chain but I couldn’t find her, so i made a police report and returned to Singapore with my tail between my legs.

MAN READS 1 INVESTMENT BOOK & THINKS HIS READY TO CHALLENGE WARREN BUFFETT

0

A man shared a story about his friend read a book on investment and thinks that he is smart enough to challenge the “stock king” Warren Buffett.

He then took to the hills, after losing a chunk of his savings.

Here is the story:

There are two kinds of people in the world of investment, winners and losers and it comes down to even more sub-categories in both winners and losers.

I have a friend who belonged to a sub-category of the “investment losers”, he started working about 6 months ago after he completed his national service and wanted to find an alternative income.

So he bought an investment book off Amazon and started reading it, after reading the book he claims that he knows everything about stocks and he is confident that he can earn a big chunk from the stock market.

He even confidently proclaimed that he will be better than Warren Buffett.

Initially, he made small wins here and there and started to be proud and flaunt his earnings on branded goods. This attracted the attention of his friends and some of his friends decided to invest in him by giving him $5,000 each to invest.

However, just 1 week after he received the money from his friend he lost almost 60% of it and started to panic.

He called me and asked what I should do and I really have no idea how to help him. I then told him to be honest and tell his “investors” about what actually happened.

But things escalated and his friends are now calling him a scammer.

Here is what a veteran investor thinks:

I’d say the average beginner invests too much in the wrong thing and too little in the right. They buy one share of GOOGL because it’s “expensive” and 1000 of AMD because it’s “cheap.”

They get scared and sell on one-day downswing. They buy AAPL because the new iPhone is announced, see a mild one day return, and think they’re geniuses.

They do all of this trading looking at returns of a hundred dollars, patting themselves on the back, while ignoring $10 trading fees in and out.

They don’t think about taxes.

They don’t focus on retirement savings first.

They don’t minimize unnecessary debt.

They do all of this, and then, hopefully, one day, start fixing a few of those mistakes. Maybe not all of them, but enough, and then they’re not really beginners anymore.

WOMAN BRINGS IN “BAGGAGE” FROM BF’S PAST TO BREAK UP WITH HIM, REGRETS INSTANTLY

0

I’ve been with my bf for almost a year a now, everything was going well until I found out that at the start of our relationship (3-4 months in), he was still infatuated with an ex-colleague that he never got together with.

They went out on a couple of dates, he confessed but it didn’t work out. Which was the reason why I found him on tinder – he was just there to clear his mind from that episode and by a random spark of chance, we clicked and got together.

To give abit of background, I’ve had a bad history of being cheated on/lied to only to find out later – naturally I do have my walls/insecurities, although I try not to amplify it in the current relationship.

This incident took a toll on me and we had a few HTHTs to talk things out. As much as he tries to convince me that he has left it all behind at this point and he loves me very much, there was this one question I asked him to be totally honest about.

I asked him if he would leave me for N (ex col) if she reciprocated his feelings at the start of our relationship?

He told me yes there’s a chance that he might have but he would not trade me for anybody now. In the months that we were together, he has also never met her or intentionally chat her up.

He has been apologizing for the hurt caused and admitted that he was selfish for doing so – I asked for a break-up but I guess I wasn’t ready for it either, so it’s been a few weeks since I’ve found out… but I have never been the same.

Most of the time I feel like an option, I get very irritated at the smallest wrong that he does thinking he owes me 3 months of my life living like a replacement and I lash out frequently and then feel bad. (cannot control lol)

Through these few weeks, despite my craziness, I can feel the effort he has poured in to be a better bf and to patch things up. However there’s this voice in my head which keeps reminding me of how he could have left me at the start and this fear that it might happen with someone else in the future (to which he gave me his word for but words are cheap ain’t it).

I’m not sure what to do, or where to go from here so any answers would be appreciated.

GRAB FOOD RIDER ‘SANCTIONED’ BY GRAB BECAUSE ‘CONSUMER ALWAYS RIGHT’

0

A netizen took to social media to voice displeasure about Grab Food after his sister who is working as a Grab Food delivery personnel was allegedly ‘sanctioned’ by Grab for not replying to the customer who was trying to communicate with her using the in-app chat.

He explains that his sister received three grouped orders which was given to her by the Grab app which means she has to deliver the orders to three different locations.

The customer in question who was trying to communicate with her had apparently waited for a ‘long time’ for his or her Grab Food order to arrive and according to the netizen had probably reported his sister for not replying him or her.

The netizen also showed screenshots of the conversation between his sister and the customer on the Grab app as well as Grab’s message to his sister after the customer reported on her.

The message by Grab however looked a little dubious due to the standard of English in the message.

In the alleged message by Grab, Grab mentioned that they have ‘sanctioned’ the delivery personnel and also mentioned to her that the ‘consumer is always right’.

Here is what the netizen said

“Be careful of this customer yesterday my sis had to pick up 3 order then this customer msg my sis cause wait long and to make it worst is his location is the last place to deliver lol. Not sure if my sis was rude because it’s contactless leave on hook but he reported her. “Consumer always right” you can get sanction for not replying to consumer?

Recently grab has been in the limelight for being to harsh on their driver partner without proper investigation”

Here are screenshots of the conversation with the customer and Grab’s message

Here are what netizens think

  • Customer is not always right and Grab should have protected its partner by listening to both side of the story rather than come out with customer is always right….
  • If u cant make it on time due to stack orders.. if they take time to listen to you. Just explain and apologized first. Always say sorry first. Dont talk about other shit first. If u apologized and then they dont care , just walk in.. then its ok. At least u apologized. Other matters they can report to Grab. But do send them a message.. sometime vocal telling them is not enough.. do sms them
  • Not all customer is always right, we have our human of right also. Grab answer that is totally wrong by siding just to their customer.
  • First time i see customer complain to Grab u are rude to him.. customer is always right in Grab side.. but it all vary from the situation. If customer get violent and scold vulgar words.. then he is not right. But if u as a rider did not do your part. Like explain or apologize. And talk back rudely.. then rider is wrong..
  • Grab customer oso don’t understand riders oso human ma , will need to wait for merchant to prepare the order watch out for traffic lagi yours so unlucky stack and is the last to be send , every Grab rider wants to be quick , the faster to complete order the faster new order come in the more the money come in too
