GIRL ASKED MAN TO START BUSINESS WITH HER, DEMANDS ROLEX & $3K SALARY FROM HIM

0

I met a girl who ask me to start a biz with her.

She sounded like a hardworking girl who wanted to learn how to do business. Then one day, she said she wanted to have a $3000 salary but I was not prepared to give $3000 for her to think of ideas for 6 – 12 months.

Maybe $500 is ok just to help out with her expenses and the rest she needs to focus on building up her business as money don’t fall from the sky.

Then to motivate her, I told her if she manage to score an investment I’ll get her a Rolex for her birthday as incentive but she heard it as I will give her “a Rolex For Her Birthday.”

And even though she didn’t get the investment, she has been asking me for the Rolex 4 – 5x a day, sometimes in the middle of the night at 3am.

When I confronted her about it, she said that it was something that “I promised her”, and I have no integrity.

And about the texting at 3am, thats because she is very alert during that time, and that’s the time she usually sends whatsapp messages. Its my fault that I am bothered by the 3am whatsapp messages about when is she getting her Rolex.

Then when we go for meetings during the day, she makes it a point to let me know before the meeting that she is upset that she is not getting the Rolex and after the meeting she ask why she cannot just walk into the shop and buy it there and then.

I am also very afraid to bring her to meetings because she will act like a big boss, and talk about ideas without thinking about cost or who is going to do it. So its like I am cutting down the cost of events from $300,000 to $15,000, and she is talking to the vendors with big ideas to bring it back up to 300k – 500k

She likes to send me articles about this person’s son that person’s daughter can spend what they want in the business they doing and also from their instagram they seem to be enjoying life even when they are doing business, not like her taking a $500 allowance and have no Rolex

But her dad is just a normal guy thats not working, staying in a 4rm hdb.

How should I encourage her to be realistic? Or should I get for her the Rolex?

Editor’s note: For the value that she is bringing to the company, even a $3 cup of bubble tea as a reward for her is too much.

NETIZEN ASKS IF PSLE SCORES WILL DETERMINE CAREER PATH

0

A post was seen online posted by a netizen who asked the community if PSLE scores impacted any of their lives in terms of what they were doing in their careers now.

Here is what she shared

Dear all, what were your PSLE scores and what are you doing in life now? I’m really curious if the scores really does impact our life in Singapore’s education system. I’ll go first. I got 234 for my PSLE and my parents were disappointed with me because I can’t get into RVHS. Math and science was A*, chinese was A, and english was a B+. Im currently working as a researcher with 5k monthly pay.

Netizens also commented on their scores and current career

  • PSLE 260, went to an IP school, now earning $3k at a startup. Guess I really peaked at 12.
  • In all honesty, quite a lot in my case. 260+ and though I underperformed at A levels, employers still hired me for the brand name of the schools I went to. Never had to apply for jobs, got picked based on connections and credentials. A good PSLE score can open the right doors that lead to the right people. I’ll admit it’s not the fairest system.
  • Got 160, pretty much got lost in life during sec sch for 2yrs and woke up. Currently 29, earning 4.3k, 3YOE, no degree. Frankly speaking, grades matters as much as you want it to matter. What matters the most is you know what to do in life or in your career. Everything will just fall into places naturally.
  • Got 185 for PSLE went to NA. Topped cohort in Sec 1 and got promoted to Express stream in Sec 2 despite some of my classmates got higher PSLE score than me cos some got 190+. After secondary school went to MI (3 yr A lvls) and now am gonna start uni in NUS next week
  • I got 166 for PSLE. Got into the worst NA class in my secondary school. Got 17 points for N-levels. No choice but to go for private degree. Fast forward many years later, currently waiting to enter a pretty alright law school overseas to do my masters. I was a verryyy late bloomer.

Editor’s Comments: Doesn’t really matter la to be honest, at the end of the day is how much money you can earn. Through legal means of course.

HUSBAND GAVE UP 6-FIGURE JOB FOR FAMILY, WIFE STILL CALLS HIM “EMBARRASSING”

Seeking advise to help for my husband

I am a 33 years old working mum of 2 son, 4 and 2 years old. My husband is 30 this year but he is very lazy.

I met my husband through a common friend 5 years back when he just returned from studies in the UK. We hit off pretty well as he’s witty and humorous plus he secured a very good career in an MNC company and decent family.

I’m comfortable with him taking the lead and planning for everything so I usually don’t have any inputs for his decision despite him always asking me for it.

I got my legs swept off by him and agreed to marry him after 1.5 years of relationship. But things start to change much after marriage.

He became very lazy whenever I asked him to do stuffs. Like when I asked him many times to get a driving license, he said that he never actually needed one as he has someone to chauffeur him around and taking PHV or cab is cheaper than owning a car in Singapore unlike UK.

I was pretty upset when he said that as a car would be convenient for checkups for my gynae visits and meeting up with my friends.

He does not help out much in housework except for washing of clothes, windows cleaning and fans as there are much more things to do apart from these. He will usually lounge around or sneak off to go for exercise once he is completed with those chores while I need to look after the kids. I told him there are many other chores to do but he always said that he will do later but never did.

His working hours are pretty hectic as he will usually reached office by 8.30am and will only reached home by 8pm. As I finished work earlier, I will usually picked up my kids from childcare and buy dinner, which is quite tiring when my cab doesn’t arrived on time or when the food delivery doesn’t come early and need to tend to hungry kids.

Travelling can be pretty tiring even via taxis. I always tell him to cab home but he likes to travel by MRT as it helps to save cost. Cabbing home can reduce an hr of travelling time which he can help me to tend to kids when i’m tired and he’s earning a high 6 digit figure per annual, I can’t figure out why he is so petty on money when I’m only earning  1/3 of his salary. Although he pays for all the cab rides and food but I just want him to share the load of actual parenting.

I felt so overwhelm by the fatigue that I actually quit my job to take care of the kids when my 2nd kid was born. I told my husband that he should spent more time to take care of the household but he often use work or a need to exercise as an excuse. I don’t understand why he needs to choose timing to go for exercise.

For weekdays, he has free time from 11pm onwards, but he can choose to go straight after work. For weekends, it’s even worse, he can opt for timing like 1 to 3pm where the kids are usually sleeping or 10pm onwards but he choose timing like 6am in the morning or 5pm in the evening when the kids are awake or going to be awake.

Things start to have a strange turn of events when he mentioned that he wants to quit his job and spend time. I felt very happy and relieve when he said that. But the downside is that, he told me that I may have to look for a job as he could have difficulty finding a job that has work life balance and decent salary. I was happy and disappointed at the same time, but I guess that’s life.

So I agreed and he quit his job and he’s taking care of the kids at home while I went back to the workforce after 2 years of being a housewife. Things are doing great for me as the workplace is good and the pay is much higher than my previous job, but not for my husband.

He has difficulty finding a manager entry level job as he is over qualified, having armed with an Imperial College degree and INSEAD MBA, he has difficulty finding a job that support work life balance and decent salary when he is willing to take up to a 75% pay cut.

Despite being at home, I find that the status of the house cleanlines is not up to my standard when I can find small peck of dust on the window grill when I do my spot check and he still has the tired feel when he doesn’t even need to work.

I don’t understand why can’t he take care of the house when I’m earning the dough. When confronted, he said that he is making pretty good money while being a day trader and suggested that we should get a maid to do the menial work while both of us earn the money but I don’t like strangers to stay with us.

I also urged him to be more active on job hunting as we have expenses to pay for. I need his contributions for my parent housing loan and our utility and my cab expenses. Luckily our 5 room is fully paid thanks to his investment.

He’s pretty lazy as his day trading can fetch about 5k for good months and 3k for bad month and has a emergency savings for 10 years without working, but it can be embarrasing for a guy to be unemployed for long time.

I asked my friends for advise but their responds are pretty mixed and I’m also dried up for solutions, which is why I would like to sought for more options to get my husband to help out more.

Editor’s note: You clearly don’t see the sacrifices that he is making and all you can think about is yourself, you don’t deserve your husband.

12TH CASE OF MONKEYPOX IN S’PORE CONFIRMED, 59 Y.O WITH NO RECENT TRAVEL HISTORY

0

Singapore’s 12th case (and 7th local case) of monkeypox was announced by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in a situation update on 2 August.

The case is a 59-year-old man with no links to the other patients and has no recent travel history.

The patient’s symptoms were not revealed by MOH, who said that he tested positive for the virus on Monday (1 August).

All the 12 cases of monkeypox in Singapore have so far been men.

Monkeypox Isolation Facility

MOH announced on 1 August that they are transferring all the clinically stable cases to a Monkeypox Isolation Facility (MIF), following the increase in cases.

This will be the protocol for monkeypox cases, in order to free up space in hospitals with patients who have more severe symptoms.

The cases in the MIF will have round-the-clock telemedicine support, and they will recover there until they are declared non-infectious and able to be discharged.

WOMAN WANTS BF TO PROPOSE WITH A GOLD BAR: “DIAMOND RINGS HAVE LOW RESALE VALUE”

0

My bf and I have been together for 2 years and we have been working for a few years now.

Recently we have been looking at engagement rings. After doing some research, I realised that diamond rings have very low resale value so I decided that I do not want a diamond ring anymore.

I read that gold bars have high resale value so I decided that I want my bf to propose to me with a 500g gold bar which cost around $40k.

He was happy when I told him that I do not want a diamond ring but he called me crazy when I asked him to propose to me with a $40k gold bar.

He then asked me why I want a $40k gold bar and I said the gold bar would be like a form of compensation for me. Like if he ever mistreats me in our marriage, I can sell the gold bar for some money as a form of compensation.

After trying to persuade him for like an hour, he still insisted that the gold bar is too expensive. But he has $60k of savings in his bank so buying a gold bar shouldn’t be a problem for him.

I’m sure he can afford to buy the gold bar but he is totally unwilling to buy one. Was I really crazy to ask for a gold bar?

Editor’s note: You seem like a person who is not even worth a $4 burger, what $40k gold bar you want lol

S’PORE MAN CHARGED WITH MURDERING WIFE, “SNAPPED” & WANTED HER TO STOP NAGGING

0

Singaporean Fong Soong Hert, was charged in court for the alleged murder of his wife in a hotel room, during their holiday in Newcastle, in December 2021.

He appeared in the Newcastle Crown Court on 1 August, and he said that he had “snapped” and wanted his wife to stop nagging at him.

He added that he had “lost it” and used a pillow to smother her to death, which corroborates the autopsy reports of her cause of death.

He had earlier denied the murder charge and pleaded guilty to manslaughter instead.

Background

The couple was travelling on the Isle of Skye in Scotland and he then suffered a bad fall on 27 November, falling down a steep edge after tripping and he then made it back to their hotel and was attended to to by staff/

He was sent to the hospital and stayed overnight, before being discharged the next morning, and the couple then continued their tour around Scotland in a rented car.

At their next destination in Inverness, Fong was still in pain and went to hospital for another checkup, and the couple then went to Edinburgh after that where they met their eldest son, and the trio then went to Newcastle by train.

The family then went to a football match and went sightseeing, and Fong had several falls throughout the trip and needed medical attention at the hospital once again.

Fong was discharged on 6 December and the couple then went back to their hotel at 12.17am, and there were seen on CCTV returning to their hotel room, and the victim was never seen alive again.

Fong later called his eldest son and told him “I hurt your mother, she’s gone,” before further adding “she’s dead.”

The victim, Madam Pek, was found on the bed and pronounced dead at the Newcastle County Aparthotel on 6 December at about 7.32am.

Northumbria police’s statement in December

“The children of a much-loved mother, who was visiting Newcastle from Singapore, have described how they have been left ‘truly devastated’ following her tragic death.

Shortly before 7.15am on Monday, we received a report of concern for a woman at an address on the city’s Westgate Road.

Emergency services arrived and found 51-year-old Pek Ying Ling was not breathing.

Sadly, despite attempts to save her life, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation was swiftly launched, and we arrested her husband, Soong Hert Fong, on suspicion of murder.

The 50-year-old was charged with murder overnight on Monday and has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on January 11.

Pek’s three sons are being supported by our specially-trained family liaison officers as they attempt to come to terms with their loss.

In a joint family statement, they said: “The whole situation is a huge shock to us.

“We were supposed to meet up for a family holiday, we are truly devastated.

“This is an incredibly difficult time for us so we ask that our privacy is respected while we grieve.”

First and foremost, we want to express sincere condolences to Pek’s children, family and loved ones, both here in the UK and back in her native Singapore.

We will continue to support the victim’s loved ones in every way we can.

The family have asked for their privacy to be respected so they can grieve this most tragic loss, and we ask that their wish is respected.

We also request people avoid any speculation about the case, which could impact the ongoing court proceedings.”

SG KITCHEN STAFF CALLS OUT RUDE & ENTITLED CUSTOMERS

0

Hi, I’ve worked in kitchens for 3+ years so far, and I would hear all sorts of customer encounters from my service staff colleagues that demoralises us, leaving us thinking, why are these guests like that? So i’m sharing some information from our side in hopes that you might empathize more with us.

If you make a reservation at a busy restaurant (not cafe), and you are late even exceeding grace period, not picking up calls/answering texts, the table is going to someone else that walks in (without reservation). Please dont make a fuss and treating us like we owe you a living.

If you decide to walk-in a restaurant without reservation, the host tells you we’re full, but you see empty tables around, they are reserved for guests that are coming ~ 10-15mins later. Its not we don’t want to let you sit, so please dont insinuate that we are dumb or dislike you to refuse you entry.

If you want your food to be served all at the same time (like in hell’s kitchen) actually for most restaurants it can be done, but if its at the lower end (saizeriya, swensens, etc), manage your expectations. Your pasta is probably gonna arrive 15 mins earlier than your baked mac & cheese in casual lower-end places. Service there may be different than more expensive places as these are the places entry-level staffs usually work at. Its common to see people complaining about bad service there but hey, you get what you pay for.

If you order beef medium-well / well done, you WILL have slightly longer waiting time than for usual dishes, because, well, it takes a longer time to hit that temperature.

If you want to split the bill, okay lah if your table 4 pax. But if your office group of 15 pax wants to split the bill, and 15 credit cards comes out, just know its gonna take LONG for service staffs to split, pls dont complain when. It would be easier if you guys just settle via paynow to each other, and let us bill 1 card instead.

Some restaurants give tap water for free, some charge for it, some only have sparkling/still water. So if you say, “What kind of restaurant doesn’t serve ____”, kindly know that we dont make the rules, someone else does.

Some of us just have that “resting b- face” and its not that we dislike serving you, that’s just how we look naturally, so please don’t be rude to us unprovoked.

So I hope you guys have some understanding of what we face on a daily basis, and please treat F&B staffs with kindness. You happy, i happy, everyone happy.

GIRL HATES WHEN BF SPENDS MONEY ON HIM, LOVES SPENDING MONEY ON HIM INSTEAD

0

Hate when my boyfriend spends money on me

Even before we started dating, I always paid for him (food when we had lunch, ice cream etc) and even now I pay for everything. He doesn’t have a job at the moment which is fine by me because I love buying him things, especially food.

The issue is that I’m going to university and will be working a lot less. In the beginning of our relationship I told him he could pay for dates after I start school (I took a gap year and I wanted work to jobs for fun and extra money but now I’ll have to give that all up for school)

However now I don’t even like the idea of him doing that. I don’t want him to spend money on me, at all. I love spending money on him and even have some expensive gifts in mind but the idea of him spending a cent on me just makes me uncomfortable.

I don’t even want a birthday gift from him. Whenever he buys me food, I always pay him back, even if it’s shared between us.

I don’t even feel okay with him spending too much on a ring for me if our relationship gets that far. If he bought some cheap $2 ring from the flea market I’d be happy with that.

I don’t know why I’m like this but I’ve always been this way.

Netizens’ comments

  • Are you some kind of reverse gold digger?
    • I guess we could call it gold giver?
  • Queens always spoils the kings but you gotta give him a window to prove himself as king. Good luck

DRIVER ROAD RAGE UNTIL FOLLOW CAMCAR HOME, HIGHBEAM EACH OTHER LIKE SECRET AGENTS

A netizen shared how he was cut off by another driver without signalling, so he highbeamed the driver to let him know and changed lane to avoid him.

The driver then drove slowly waiting for him to pass before tailgating him, honking at him and highbeaming back at him, before continuing to follow the driver home.

Here is what the netizen said

reckless cutting me off, without signalling, and cut me twice. Both without signal. So I highbeamed him. But I changed lane to avoid him thereafter.

I didn’t realise that he was slowly driving in front waiting for me to pass, and then dangerously tailgating closely to high beam me back, and horning non stop.

And he insisted to follow me, so I pulled over , to let him pass. But he slowly drive in front and when I moved off, he continues to follow me home.

So I stopped and threatened to call police, where he dare not to come out from his car to confront me but cursing and showing finger to me.
