277 PEOPLE FALLS VICTIM TO PRC OFFICIALS IMPERSONATION SCAM THIS YEAR

0

Since January 2022, there have been at least 277 victims, with losses amounting to at least $30.3 million.

Victims would receive voice-recorded phone calls allegedly from the Ministry of Health, the High Court or other government agencies. When the victims followed the instructions on the call to make further contact, the call would be directed to scammers claiming to be a police officer. The scammers would inform the victims that they were being investigated for money laundering and other offences. The scammers would direct the victims to do any of the following:

  • Provide their personal information and bank account information
  • Open bank accounts
  • Transfer money from their bank accounts to other bank accounts ostensibly for the purposes of Police investigations
  • Report their movements daily
  • Meet unknown subjects to hand over or collect fake documents from them
  • Keep the investigations secret

Victims would only discover that they had been scammed when they realised that there were unauthorised transactions made from their bank accounts, or when the scammers did not return the money they had transferred for the purported “Police investigations”.

The Police would like to emphasise that overseas law enforcement agencies have no jurisdiction to conduct operations in Singapore, arrest anyone or ask members of the public to help with any form of investigations. The Police will never ask you to transfer money into another bank account for the purpose of investigations.

MISSING 23 Y.O JAPAN AV STAR FOUND DEAD, WITHOUT CLOTHES & TIED TO A TREE

Rina Arano a Japanese adult actress was reported missing on 8 June 2022.

Less than 2 weeks after the missing person report, the 23-year-old woman was found decomposing in Hitachiota, Ibaraki Prefecture forest.

The body was found just 6 meters downslope from the road. She was tied to a tree and she did not have any clothes on her.

Rina is a freelancer who charges over SGD$1,000 per shoot which involves her doing videos and photo taking.

CCTV footage revealed that she was last seen on June 5 with a man who has been contacting her and she had entered his car.

The 33-year-old man who left with Rina immediately became a suspect and subsequent investigations revealed that his car’s dash camera recorded his vehicle to the forest where Rina was found.

The 33-year-old man denied the allegations of any involvement in the crime and claimed that he was a photographer who did a photoshoot with Rina.

Autopsy reports revealed that the woman’s throat was crushed believing that she was strangled to death.

Investigations are ongoing.

NETIZEN SAYS PARENTS SHOULD NOT JUST GIVE CHILD IPAD AS “AUTOPILOT” TOOL

Most people who have children, don’t seem to fully understand what they are getting into.

As I am at the age where most of my friends are married and having children/had children, many around me have started to ask why my wife and I do not have any yet.

The answer is simple. Unless you truly want to have children, and you want to devote your time towards nurturing a child, you should not have children. This answer often makes people around me uncomfortable as it seems like it is a direct jab at their life choices.

Many around us tend to have children simply because it seems to be the “next step in life”. Or perhaps as some form of insurance against old age as they may have a child or two to care for them as they age. Sure, these are valid reasons as long as you nurture and love your children.

Downhill

But this is where it all goes downhill. Where parents only want to enjoy the fun parts of parenting and dump the rest to everyone and everything else around them.

Instead of spending quality time educating and nurturing the child, many young parents like to whip out the iPad so the child can go on “autopilot” mode and they can use their mobile phones or computers in peace. The amount of actual human interaction that the child receives is what helps to nurture and allow the child to grow as an intellectual.

Children are brought to the world by their parents and if their own parents don’t even want to spend time with them, then what kind of childhood are these children going to go through? It takes a lot of real love and patience to really nurture a human being, and it simply cannot be reduced to 30 minutes of interaction spread across a day. Let alone creating your “insurance” as a side piece.

After years and years of watching how people can say things like “Parenthood is the best thing that can happen to you” or “the sacrifice is all worth it” while whipping out the iPad at the dinner table for their child and blasting Baby Shark while the domestic helper attempts to feed the child and they sit there themselves to use their phones, I’ve come to the conclusion that it is no easy feat being a parent. A true parent, not a sperm donor or egg incubator.

I know that this post will likely not make any difference, but I would like to suggest to couples that are considering to have children, to really understand what you are getting yourselves into. Should you choose to embark on the journey of Parenthood, I applaud you and sincerely hope you nurture a good and responsible human being to be part of our society.

RESIDENT THREATENS TO SUE FLYER DISTRIBUTOR FOR GIVING HIM A FLYER

0

Got berated and threatened for distributing flyers

I am a 49yo housewife. 3 months ago, I started real estate agents flyers distributing at HDB door-to-door.

The remuneration isn’t great, ($0.03/pc) it’s OTOT job, relatively easy (albeit tiring) fits my time schedule and i only need to work about 2 to 3 hours, earn some small pocket allowance and basically also regard it as workout job.

i know it can be annoying seeing flyers stucked at the side of the gate, some residents will put up a notice ‘NO FLYERS’ or ‘WE ARE NOT SELLING OUR HOUSE’ and will skip their units when i see such notice.

Some residents will politely decline, some will take it from me, and there was a teenage resident who hollered at me to remove the flyer. I take it in my stride.

Yesterday, a resident left his gate and door wide open. I slot the flyer at the side of the gate. As I was at the next unit, he came to the door, pointed the flyer I stuck and asked ‘What is this?’

I quickly apologized & took it back. He asked ‘what are letterboxes for?’  I naively thought he was providing me a suggestion. No, he was creating a window to lash at me.

I went on to reply ‘the letterboxes are locked, and we were told to go from unit to unit’. Thats when he raised his voice ‘letterbox are locked for a reason. It is precisely the reason we dont want to receive these. Don’t you people get it?’

I tried to calm him down and explain further, that I didn’t see any notices being put up indicating…. and he cut me off by saying ,”Just go lah. Do you want me to sue you and trust me i sue someone before. GO!”

I apologized to him for the 3rd time and went on with my job.

Honestly, I was quite disturbed by this incident.

Why would he want to go as far as threatening to sue me? Did he feel gratified after berating me ? On what grounds can he sue me? People sue for a reason, especially monetary. But there was none here. It is an empty threat obviously.

Is being a flyer distributor a very lowly regarded job. I still have 3 more blocks to cover before the end of the assigned blocks.

Should I still continue? I don’t seem to be the right person especially when I haven’t got over the incident with the disgruntled resident.

GUY TOLD GF HE’S GOING TO FEMALE FRIEND’S HOME TO DRINK & SLEEP OVER

0

My bf wants to get drunk alone with his female friend and sleep over with her

We’ve been dating 3 years and he’s known her for maybe 10 months. They became pretty close while our relationship became strained due to going long distance for the past year.

He sees her somewhat often but has never really made plans to visit me without my initiating the planning in some way over the past year.

He told me today he’s going to go over to her place, get drunk and sleep over.

I feel like he’s being disrespectful to our relationship, but he dismissed me and said “the plans are kinda already set in stone, so…”

What do I do?

Netizens’ comments

  • You dump him. He is showing you who is first in his life and it isn’t you.
  • That’s wildly disrespectful to your relationship, especially that you voiced your concern about it crossing your boundaries. The “already set in stone” is a BS excuse. I think the only answer is to end things now before it gets worse.

PRC MAN & WOMAN ARRESTED, 1.1K CARTONS OF ILLEGAL CIGGS & $6.3K CASH SEIZED

Singapore Customs arrests three men and a woman and seizes 1,100 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes

Singapore Customs arrested four suspects – two male PRC nationals, a male Singaporean and a female Singaporean – aged between 25 and 42, and seized 1,100 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes in an operation on 28 June 2022.

Case information

During the operation conducted in the vicinity of Waringin Park, Singapore Customs officers observed brown boxes being transferred from a Singapore-registered van into a Singapore-registered car parked side by side. Suspecting that the brown boxes contained duty-unpaid cigarettes, officers moved in to conduct checks on the three men and woman, and uncovered 150 and 950 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes in the car and van respectively. All four persons were arrested.

The duty-unpaid cigarettes, two vehicles, and cash amounting to $6,300 found on the two PRC nationals suspected to be linked to duty-unpaid cigarette transactions, were seized in the operation. The total duty and Goods and Services tax (GST) evaded amounted to about $93,940 and $7,470 respectively. Investigations are ongoing.

Buying, selling, conveying, delivering, storing, keeping, possessing or dealing with duty-unpaid goods are serious offences under the Customs Act and the GST Act.

Offenders can be fined up to 40 times the amount of duty and GST evaded and/or jailed for up to six years. Vehicles used in the commission of such offences and proceeds of sales of duty-unpaid cigarettes are also liable to be forfeited.

Members of public with information on smuggling activities or evasion of duty or GST can call the Singapore Customs hotline on 1800-2330000 or email [email protected] to report these illegal activities.

MAN SAYS EX-WIFE SMELLY, WASHES HER HAIR ONCE EVERY FEW WEEKS

After getting divorced and spending some intimate time with women, it made me realize something about my ex wife…

…and it’s how awful she smelled. I just thought it was normal since we married young and were together for quite some time. But her hair always smelled PUTRID.

If we were cuddling, her hair and scalp literally always smelled like someone deep-fried sweat, and then let it sit in the sun all day. That’s how her hair always smelled.

She would go weeks in-between washing her hair but she would always just say “it’s not healthy to wash your hair often”. But then her head was a literal grease ball.

After spending some time with new ladies via bumble + tinder, it’s like the most magnificent revelation: That women CAN have proper hygiene and their hair can smell AMAZING.

My mind is simply blown, and it makes me so very grateful for following through with getting a divorce.

To all the women out there with hair that smells like berries and other tantalizing scents, I salute you. That is all.
