On May 1, the Singapore Police Force raided an office unit along Ubi Road 2 and found thirteen people aged between 21 and 33 mingling and consuming various drinks including alcohol.
According to the police, they violated COVID-19 safe distancing measures whereby only a maximum of eight people are allowed per social gathering. Karaoke equipment was also seized by the police during the raid
A 31-year-old man, allegedly to be the operator of the unit is also under investigation for providing alcohol without a licence.
The Singapore Police said that they received a report on 1 May about Goh allegedly taking part in a public assembly without a permit.
They explained that Goh did not have a police permit to carry out the public assembly.
The police then reiterated that organising or participating in a public assembly in Singapore without a permit from the police is illegal, and that it is an offence under the Public Order Act.
At the time of writing, police investigations are currently still ongoing.
Context
The placard being held up by Goh is likely to be in response to the growing concerns of imported cases from overseas, especially with India’s deteriorating Covid-19 situation.
India is currently the country with the world’s 2nd highest number of Covid-19 cases.

A video emerged online showing a YP speeding on the expressway and being posted onto Instagram by the driver’s girlfriend.
He could be seen driving at a speed of about 143km/h (we analysed the footage and tried to ascertain the speed – the video was too grainy), but irregardless, the speed was definitely in the triple-digits.
According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA), all open expressways in Singapore have a maximum speed limit of 90km/h, and between 70km/h and 80km/h in expressway tunnels.
Singapore saw 39 new Covid-19 cases yesterday (2 May), of which 14 were from the community.
28 of the cases are asymptomatic and detected during proactive screening.
This resulted in the total number of community cases per week to increase, in comparison to the weekly number of cases over the past few months.
The number of new community cases have increased to 51 cases per week, from the previous 10 cases per week.
Also, the number of unlinked community cases have also increased to 11 cases last week, from 3 cases the week before.
From 26 April to 2 May, 70 out of the 212 confirmed cases tested positive for their serology tests; 101 tested negative and 41 are still pending.
Tan Tock Seng Cluster
It is worth noting that the rise in local cases comes in the wake of the TTSH cluster, which is the largest so far and is still active, with fresh infections still occuring.
A video emerged online showing veteran Getai star Wang Lei getting fed up with the antics of his protege Zhu Zhen Yi for disturbing him during one of his Facebook Live videos.
Wang Lei was on FB Live selling some sort of frozen durians, to which Zhu asked whether he sells heated ones instead.
Wang Lei then became unhappy because he is relentlessly being disturbed during his live sessions.
He then said that he feels like pulling down Zhu’s shorts if he ever sees him, to see whether he has pubic hair, then using a rubber band to shoot his kkb.
Derek Ng De Ren, 19-years-old, was charged earlier today (3 May) with threatening to kill English Premier League footballer Neal Maupay, who plays as a striker for Brighton, as well as his family.
The threats were made last year in June and July, after Brighton beat Arsenal and the victim scored the winning goal; he was involved in a collision with Arsenal’s goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who ended up being stretchered off injured.
Maupay then issued an apology to Leno on Twitter.
As I already said, I'm sorry about what happened to Bernd Leno, I never meant to hurt him. I wish him a speedy recovery 🙏🏼
The English Premier League alerted the Singapore Police Force after the league investigated the matter and found out the “serious online abuse” towards Neal Maupay came from Singapore.
Ng threatened Maupay on Instagram by sending him direct messages on the platform.
His messages on 24 June, allegedly said:
“You think you will get away for injuring Leno? No way in hell bruv (sic)… But don’t worry you will be safe you won’t be hurt.
“It’s more fun watching you feel pain when your loved ones go through suffering.”
He then sent another message to Maupay on 26 June, allegedly saying:
“Your family will be attacked later in the day, just watch.”
Ng then sent another message on 1 July, purportedly saying:
“You think by reporting my account you’re safe? I will kill you and your family.”
Ng is intending to plead guilty to his charges and his case has been adjourned to 31 May.
As India’s Covid-19 situation continues to deteriorate, the country is seeing a rise in the number of their people using a new “remedy” to fight the coronavirus.
They are reportedly using steam inhalation for people with mild or asymptomatic symptoms in home isolation, as they believe that inhaling the steam fromt he nose and mouth can help to eliminate the coronavirus (this is not true by the way).
✅Perform warm water gargles or steam inhalation twice a day
Images of Indians mass using the fake remedy emerged online, with even the police officers from an Indian police station at Barkey taking part in the hoax.
Doctors are warning against doing so as the remedy was very unscientific.
They said that doing so could result in the scalding of airways and are seeing patients coming in for respiratory symptoms not due to Covid-19, but due to the hoax.
They are also seeing more cases of damaged airways and deteriorating asthma symptoms because of the fake remedy.
India is currently the country with the world’s 2nd highest number of Covid-19 cases.
