Following the Covid-19 infection of a doctor, nurse and 3 patients at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), the hospital has announced on a Facebook post that no visitors will be allowed in the wards until further notice.
TTSH explained that this is part of the necessary measures responding to the infections from the hospital.
An unnamed source from TTSH has said that the hospital ward is in a “lockdown”, and that they are checking with staff members and contractors if they have gone to the affected wards between 18 and 28 April.
Context
Among the infected staff members is a 46-year-old female nurse from the Philippines who was deployed at Ward 9D.
She developed a cough, sore throat and body aches on 27 April, before seeking treatment at TTSH.
Her test results came back positive for the coronavirus and she was warded at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) on the same day.
The nurse had received her first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on 26 January and her second dose on 18 February.
Among the other affected parties are a doctor and 3 other patients in the same ward.

Following Shane Pow being dropped by Mediacorp, his role in the drama, The Heartland Hero, will be taken over by James Seah.
Shane Pow, who was charged with drink driving for the second time and one of the guilty parties present at actor Jeffrey Xu’s illegal birthday party held at Terence Cao’s home which breached Covid-19 safe distancing measures, will fulfil his outstanding commitments until 4 May 2021.
He will be filming until episode 31, with James Seah taking over from him for the remaining 99 episodes.
This is the first time in Mediacorp’s history that an actor has been replaced by another actor halfway through a Chinese drama.
The drama’s producer, Leong Lye Lin, said that the script will not be rewritten to fit Seah into the role.
Seah has since commented on the upcoming replacement plans, saying that it was complicated as Pow is his good friend.
Seah said that he was sad but when Shane heard about it, he was very encouraging and told him that if he needs any help, let him know.
Leong also revealed that she received a text from Pow, apologizing.

A Singaporean family on a midnight grocery hunt, who was harassed by the infamous racist auntie who is in the spotlight recently for harassing others by accusing them of harassing her, has come out and responded to a video the woman took in 2019.
The humble family was gracious in their response, with one of the family members, Ismail, posting a statement on Facebook.
He revealed that they did not know of the videos until recent events have come to light.
He even said that the family would like to reach out to the racist auntie so that they can apologize to her if they made her feel uncomfortable in any way.
He added:
“Maybe we were too engrossed in peanut butter!”
He highlighted that they are aware that it’s an invasion of privacy, but all the family can do is report the video to YouTube.
He appealed to everyone to chill and relax, highlighting that one bad apple doesn’t represent the entire community.
He summed up his post, revealing that the family went for Smuckers’ Peanut Butter and Jelly in the end.
A video from the infamous racist auntie’s YouTube channel resurfaced recently, showing her following and filming a Malay guy.
The video was taken in 2019
The guy could be seen minding his own business and enjoying his bubble tea, when the woman followed him down an escalator and filmed him.
She then confronted him, mumbling something incoherent – the only words we could make out were “intimidate me” and “put it on YouTube”.
Based on the limited number of coherent words muttered by the racist auntie, we were able to decipher her message – in short, she was accusing him of “intimidating her”.
The guy then looked confused and lost, asking her “what did I do?”, before walking away from the harasser.
