PAP RAISED $50K FOR CHARITIES TO CELEBRATE MOTHERS’ DAY

The People’s Action Party (PAP announced on their website that they have raised $50,000 for charities as part of their Mothers’ Day celebrations.

Here is what they said

The People’s Action Party (PAP) Women’s Wing (WW) and the PAP Community Foundation (PCF) have raised $50,000 to help the disadvantaged and vulnerable within our community as part of their celebration for Mother’s Day.

Attesting to its commitment to make Singapore a better home for everyone where no one is left behind, the Party’s Women’s Wing brought together partners for a collective effort to support the vulnerable among us. 23 Members of Parliament (MP) within Central Singapore District have rallied community partners to support this fundraising effort for charities located within the district. These charities are Dyslexia Association of Singapore, Homeless Hearts of Singapore, Home Nursing Foundation Senior Activity Centre, Montfort Care – Kreta Ayer Family Services and REACH Family Service Centre (Bishan).

Organising Chair of WW Mother’s Day Celebration and MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC Joan Pereira said that PAP Women’s Wing decided to raise funds on a district-level, starting with the Central District, to give greater visibility to the good work done by these charities within the district. “Through our fundraising effort, we hope to reach out to the different groups within the community, including the low-income, homeless, and vulnerable families and help them. We hope fellow Singaporeans will do likewise to help the vulnerable in our midst.”

Besides this fund-raising effort for Mother’s Day, over 200 PAP MPs, activists, union members, and partners also gathered at a bazaar at the NTUC Centre which involved six social enterprises that support women. Casting a spotlight on recognition and support of caregivers in this year’s celebration, a key highlight of the event was a sharing session where caregivers shared the challenges of taking care of their loved ones, the support they received, and their dreams and aspirations.

Chairwoman of PAP Women’s Wing Mrs Josephine Teo reiterated that the community has an important role to play in supporting caregivers. “Majority of caregivers are women, even though more men are now involved. Regardless of gender, caregivers have their personal needs. Whether it’s promoting fairness at the workplace, sharing domestic responsibilities, or providing a listening ear, we can all play our part to better support them. The PAP Women’s Wing will continue to rally the wider community to take action in support of caregivers. Today’s Mother’s Day celebration is an example.”

BODIES OF WOMEN WITHOUT CLOTHES FOUND STRANGLED TO DEATH IN HOTEL ROOM

The dead bodies of two women without any clothes on were found inside a hotel room in Macau, with strangulation marks on their necks, according to The Standard.

The bodies were discovered at the MGM COTAI casino-hotel resort in Macau, with the fire department receiving a request for assistance on 7 May at around 1am.

Officers found the bodies of the women by the window with bruise marks around their necks, and the police were then alerted.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the women were choked to death, but there was no evident signs of a struggle.

The case has since been referred to the Judiciary Police for investigations, and they confirmed that they are investigating the deaths as a double homicide.

The police believe that both women were strangled to death with a bathrobe belt, and they had no visible resistance wounds save for a scratch on one of the deceased’s arm.

The murderer reportedly cleaned up the scene, with no identification documents belonging to the women at the scene.

COUPLE CAN’T SLEEP BECAUSE NEIGHBOUR PIAK PIAK VERY LOUDLY

0

A bit of context is needed and I apologize it may belong. It all started when my boyfriend (m27) and I (f27) moved in last year.

We introduced ourselves to our neighbour (f30ish) and she seemed great, super nice. We quickly learned that the soundproofing of this building is nonexistent, you hear everything. Regular toned conversations, showers turning on, TVs, you name it, we can hear it. I have tried my hardest to be a quiet and respectful neighbour but the neighbour this is about didn’t seem to care and often watched her tv at full blast and would have loud conversations on the phone at all hours. But it didn’t really bother me that much, what can you do?

A few months after moving in our neighbour had a guy “friend” over and it was loud. Headboard banging, slapping, screaming, loud. It was hilarious we thought, the first time. But this turned into an almost daily, almost always around noon, occurrence for about a month and this girl had lungs.

I could hear it everywhere in the building, toilet, downstairs. Just when I was beginning to get fed up with it and contemplating complaining to management, see I work from home and it was incredibly disruptive, it seemed someone else had enough and complained before me. Ah, the sweet relief of quieter sx.

The screaming was toned down to moaning and I didn’t feel as assaulted in my own home anymore. I do think she thought we complained because she wouldn’t look at us anymore after that but I didn’t care, it was worth it.

Fast forward to two months, she and the guy and slowly was getting louder again. But I felt like I could deal with it since they normally happened around noon, or at least no earlier than 9. I had started working some days in the office as well so I wasn’t home to hear it as much, and most days I was gone before 7 am for my second job.

7:30am and I’m startled awake by a banging noise followed by some squeals and moans. I grabbed my pillow wrapped it around my head and tried to ignore it and sleep. 8am and I’m wide awake the noises were growing louder and the headboard was slamming with impressive force. I could feel the rage boiling up. My sleep is precious to me, I work two jobs and one is very heavy manual labour. Without thinking twice I grabbed our headboard and slammed our wall (the wall we share with our loud neighbor) and yelled not very nice things along the lines of “omg shut the f up” and “I’m so sick of this”. The silence from her side was incredibly satisfying at the moment and it has been beautifully quiet since.

SIA PASSENGER SAYS ONBOARD MEAL “DISGUSTING”, ARMY FOOD BETTER

A Facebook user, Anderson Soh, shared how the food that he was served on a Singapore Airline flight, was disgusting and called it worse than army food.

Soh, who was flying on SIA from Singapore to Bangkok, said in his Facebook post:

“Do you believe this food is served (on an) SQ flight… omg damn disgusting food… I thought I was flying with budget airlines, I think budget airlines Nasi Lemak even taste better.

It was a big difference compared to pre-covid… Very disappointed with SQ….”

SIA responds

A spokesperson for SIA responded to the man’s grievances, saying that it is part of their new regional economy class meal concept for short haul flights.

SIA said “This comes with a main dish and a dessert, and provides our customers with a greater variety of local Singaporean and international favourites using sustainable tableware.

SIA did not compromise on the amount and quality of the food in the new meal concept. We have swapped the traditional casserole for a paper box that holds the same quantity of food but is much deeper.

That way, our chefs have been able to introduce a greater variety of dishes to the menu including a wide range of Singaporean favourites such as congee, laksa, and gravy-rich mee siam that were previously not available in Economy Class.

The new regional economy class meal concept also supports our sustainability journey,” explained the spokesman.

The paper used in the main course box and cup are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified, and bamboo cutleries are also provided to significantly reduce the amount of single-use plastics. The paperware also weighs 50% less than before, lowering fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

All of the waste is also brought back to Singapore and fed into an eco-digester, where it is converted into alternative fuel pellets.

We thank our customers for their feedback, and we would like to reassure them that we remain committed to providing an enhanced experience when they travel with SIA.

MAN RAGING BECAUSE WIFE GOT A TATTOO, ANGRY UNTIL LEAVE HOUSE

0

My wife (27F) got a tattoo and I (29M) am inexplicably furious when I look at it or her now. Where do I go for help?

This is so beyond my character and it’s so stupid but the emotions are real and they’re out of control.

I’ve been having panic attacks into the months leading up to it every time its mentioned, but I soldiered on thinking I would get used to it.

She got it yesterday and now any time I see her, and doubly so if I see that thing, I feel nothing but pure contempt, hatred, and resentment.

I’ve had to completely remove myself from the household for the time being or I risk doing something stupid. This isn’t like me at all and i have no idea what’s going on. It’s just a tattoo!

I love her so much, and she loves it and I want to be happy she’s happy but instead I feel no love or even care for her when I’m in the same room. I’m scared of myself.

I’m just looking for some perspective on what I should do. I recognize how messed up my own head must me right now, and how stupid this is.

This isn’t me. I want myself back. I’ve already cut some deep verbal wounds because I want her to hurt, we separate rooms I calm down, realize how stupid I’m being, go to apologize, and my blood is boiling again when I see her.

I need help but I don’t know what help I need. Please, any direction on where to go or what to do.

I’m prepared to be crucified. I deserve it. I am the bad guy here.

WOMAN BOUGHT SHI LI FANG MALA TANG, FINDS MORE THAN 10 INSECTS INSIDE

A Facebook user, Cheryl See, shared how she bought Mala Tang from Shi Li Fang via food delivery and halfway through her meal, she realised that there were insects inside her food.

To her horror, she found more than 10 other insects inside her food, with the little bugs looking like Sichuan peppercorn, but with legs.

The incident took place on 4 May, after she had placed an order for the Mala Tang via Grabfood at about 6.23pm.

She added that she suffered stomachache and diarrhoea, but it wasn’t bad enough to warrant medical attention.

She then left a feedback via the Grab app for the restaurant at Junction 10, and her relative also passed by the outlet to give them her number to update her.

See has yet to receive a response from the restaurant at the time of writing.

The incident has also been reported to the Singapore Food Agency, with the SFA sending representatives to the outlet to conduct checks, but found nothing wrong, save for some holes that they found in the shop that could probably harbour the bugs.

NSF CAN’T STOP SLEEPING DURING HIS BOOKOUTS, WASTING FREE TIME

0

1 year into the service , & previously my shifts were god-tier, 7 in 7 out, which meant I could spend 1 entire day sleeping/ lazing around before I use my remaining 6 days to do things I need to do.

Now with my 4 in 2 out schedule. Things have been really tough , my bookout has been reduced to 2 days, and it staggers. (E.g If my bookout this week if Saturday, Sunday, my next one would be Fri & Saturday).

I still tend to spend 1 day napping I’m left with 1 day to do things I really want. Recently had to cancel plans with a friend cos I was too tired to go out..

I really want to Maximise & have a life outside of ns commitments but it seems like a challenge.

I’m posted to a unit where my it’s very intense & adhoc, which means if there is ops that suddenly occur in the middle of night , it needs to be addressed asap.

I’m in a unit where it’s daily ops so no jungle & activities like bmt , just policing in incarceration facility.

So I’m wondering for my stay in combat guys how do you make the best of your 2 days out ? It seems my plans have to stop until I ord in ~365 days

Netizens’ comments

Last 2 nights of your stay in sleep more than the 7hrs of uninterrupted rest. Used to have the same problem as you but i legit nap 2 days away.

After i started sleeping more in camp when nearing book out i feel my time out of camp was not so shag

GUY DULAN BECAUSE COUPLE BEHIND HIM INSIDE CINEMA KEEP TALKING

0

This happened yesterday.

I was watching Dr Strange 2. There was a couple sat beside me. One of them reached first while the other was late and missed out the first act of the movie (about 10mins or so).

So when the BF came, the GF started explaining what happened in the beginning (i assume). At first, i thought it was fine because she is basically helping him catch up.

A few minutes later, i hear murmers from them again. It continued for another 4 or 5 times for the next 5 minutes and i wasnt having it anymore.

I turned to the BF and said “Bro, can you keep the discussion for later? We trying to watch here.”

He replied and i quote, “Ok. You dont have to be rude about it.” They then proceed to move to another empty seat.

I was like WTF? Was i being rude for telling him to shut up? And whats wrong with peoples theatre etiquette nowadays? Its not my first time experiencing this since the cinema opened.
