Dani Zulastri Mohamad Salim, 22, was charged on 2 April with voluntarily causing grievous hurt likely to cause death.

He had used a Chivas glass bottle to hit the victim, 30-year-old Justin Chua Yong Jie, on the back of his head on 20 March at about 10.45pm.

He was allegedly struck on the head while walking to a convenience store following a meal with his friends, along Merchant Road.

He was on his way to buy a drink at a 7-eleven outlet nearby alone and after the attack, he managed to return to the restaurant to ask his friends for help.

They were shocked to see him covered in blood and called the ambulance for him.

Chua reportedly had no idea who attacked him and he required at least 20 stitches on his head, as a video surfaced online showing him covered in blood and being attended to by paramedics. (The video has since been taken down).

He had suffered cuts on his head that were about 10cm long.

Three other men were charged earlier this week with common intention of causing grievous hurt to Mr Chua, they are namely:

• Taitus Wong Wei Zhi, 20
• Noor Shah Ryzqa Azman, 20
• Mohamad Amirul Shafi Abdullah, 22

Dani has since been remanded and the quartet will return to court again at a later date.

Two-man were spotted fighting in a coffee shop. The CCTV footage of the coffeeshop dated March 13 2022 in the evening.

The man with the cap dragged the other into the coffee shop and eventually punched him till he hits the ground.

The man wearing the black shirt was seen bleeding in blood. Passerbys tried to stop the man with a cap it took at least 3 people to separate the two of them.

After the fight stop, a woman can be seen handing tissue paper to the defeated man, the man wearing black left the scene leaving bloodstains on the ground.

The land border between Malaysia and Singapore finally reopened on 1 April after more than 2 years since the pandemic hit.

People were seen crossing the borders excitedly, as hordes of motorcyclists cheered with their arms in the sky while waiting to cross into Malaysia.

An elderly man carrying a sling bag was also seen running on foot across the border as he shouted excitedly, “MALAYSIA BOLEH!”

Malaysians were also seen walking on foot, across the entire distance of the Causeway and also running jubilantly upon reaching the customs.

The borders between the two countries have been closed since 17 March 2020, and more than 200 people were waiting at Woodlands on the eve of the border reopening, waiting to cross, according to ST.

About 500 motorcyclists were also reportedly waiting at Tuas for their vehicles to be allowed to cross the border.

Travelers who are fully vaccinated from both countries are now able to cross the land borders via all transport modes without the need for any Covid tests or quarantine.

They also no longer need to take VTL buses to enter both countries and there is also no more cap on the number of daily overland travelers.

A false ceiling reportedly collapsed right in front of a couple at Ang Mo Kio Hub on 29 March, on the 4th floor as they were walking past the Cathay Cineplex ticketing kiosk.

The man, Eugene, spoke to Mothership and said that had his wife, Samantha, walked a little big faster, she would’ve been hit by the fallen debris and possibly seriously injured.

Eugene told Mothership that he was on his phone and Samantha was walking a little in front of him when the ceiling crashed in front of them.

He said that he looked up and saw his wife shocked, and that she was standing in front of the pile of rubble, about 3 to 5 metres away.

He described the rubble as consisting of metals, nails and glass.

Eugene added that his wife had stopped just in time to turn around to look at him and she then heard cracking sound from above, and that had she not done that, she would’ve been right under the rubble.

An SDA then approached the couple to make sure they were okay before taking a photo of the incident and making a report.

A staff member of the mall then barricaded the area as the couple walked away from the scene, after another man had arrived at the scene to examine the rubble.

The mall management has since apologised to them and are looking into the incident, and will follow up with the couple after they have finished their investigations.

AMK Hub said that this was an isolated incident and that they are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable shopping experience for all shoppers.

The SCDF shared onto their Facebook page about a fire that broke out at Block 121 Bukit Merah View on 30 March at about 11.45am.

At approximately 11.45am today (30 Mar), SCDF responded to a fire at the above-mentioned location.

Upon the arrival of SCDF emergency responders, the fire was already raging in the living room-cum-bedroom of a one-room residential unit on the 2nd floor.

Firefighters from Alexandra Fire Station and Central Fire Station donned breathing apparatus sets and carefully manoeuvred their way into the heavily smoky unit. The fire was extinguished using a water jet.

The rest of the unit was affected by heat and smoke damage.

Two persons from the affected unit had self-evacuated prior to the arrival of SCDF forces. In addition, about 35 people from the affected block were subsequently evacuated by Police and SCDF.

A person sustained burn injuries while another four persons suffered from smoke inhalation. SCDF conveyed them to Singapore General Hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
