Two Bangladeshi workers were thrown off a vessel that was docked at a Tuas shipyard on 28 March and fell onto the dock below.

The two men aged 30 and 42, were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The deceased were among three workers who were working on a scaffold built around a structure above the vessel that was docked, and the structure then suddenly collapsed at about 10pm, at 51 Pioneer Sector 1.

A part of the scaffold was then flung out of the vessel and the two men were then thrown off, and they were found motionless when the police arrived at the scene following a call for help at about 10.30pm.

A third Bangladeshi worker, a 25-year-old man, survived after managing to cling onto the structure and he was then rescued by the emergency response team of the shipyard and conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

Keppel Shipyard is the occupier of the site and is the employer of the 42-year-old deceased. while the other two workers were employees of Veekee Engineering.

Keppel Shipyard has been told to stop all works that involves the structure on board the vessel as MOM is investigating the incident.

Police investigations are also ongoing and at the moment, no foul play is suspected.

A man was sentenced to 27 months in jail after committing numerous charges from receiving money from criminal conduct, forgery and obstructing the course of justice.

56-year-old Singaporean, Mohd Jamail Khan Banakhani Shafi Khan was the director of Jars Technology Pte Ltd. Between May 23, 2016, and May 12, 2017, Jars Technology and Jamail received a total of USD343,120 and USD49,956 in their bank accounts, respectively. These monies were acquired through cheating offences committed both domestically and internationally.

He then moved funds from both bank accounts to local and international parties and utilized some of the funds for personal needs. The vast bulk of the proceeds from illicit activity was recovered throughout the course of investigations.

It is believed that he had gotten benefits for conducting the receive and transfer of the criminal proceeds.

During the course of the inquiry into the aforementioned transfers, Jamail furnished the Commercial Affairs Department with two falsified investment agreements.

Penalties

The offences of acquiring and transferring property having reasonable grounds to believe that the property represents another person’s benefits from criminal conduct are punishable with an imprisonment term of up to 10 years, a fine not exceeding S$500,000, or both.

The offence of forgery carries an imprisonment term of up to four years, a fine, or both. The offence of obstructing the course of justice carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, a fine, or both.

This is a post about how stupid and dumb must one be to do something like I did. It all started when I was in rush and getting ready to go out, had to go buy some stuff, go to get my car fixed etc.. and I received a text which was claiming to be from my bank, that I needed to reenter my information to keep using my app otherwise it will get deactivated. Which of course me being in a rush didn’t think much of it and just clicked on the link, which was conveniently in the text, and it took me to the bank website.

Where I could enter my information to log in, so I started to put in all my info which also included the card info and 3 digit code. Filled everything out and yeah it went through and it seemed that that was all I needed to do. Didn’t think much of it at that moment. I started to close everything and as I did that I noticed the number from which the text came. It was something random like 112233.

The moment when it sank in my soul left my body from panic, my hands started to shake, sheer panic. I tried to open my app to check if my account was already emptied, it just told me that my account might have been compromised and it advised me to deactivate it which I did right in that moment I couldn’t even check my balance, I tried to calm down, scour the internet for the tech support for my bank, it never felt harder to find a number in my life.

I finally found it, tried to call, finally got to an agent and then of course my phone disconnected the call because my prepaid phone card run out, I couldn’t even call back and they didn’t call me so the only option I had was to rush to the nearest store and fill my card which I had no money in my wallet for and paying through internet required authentication from my app which I couldn’t do because it was deactivated.

I remembered my mom was coming from her work at this time so I took the route she takes when going home(her work is fairly close to our home) so I went that way and thank God, she was there on her bicycle just on the way home, I pulled over told her to please let me use her phone that I will explain everything later, she was in shock(understandably) but she gave me her phone and I finally could make that call again.

So I spent about half an hour on the phone with the agent just explaining everything and him working on freezing my account and submitting an order to get my money back, they basically emptied my whole account… as expected, they took around $22,000… Which may not be that lot to a lot of people, but believe me, to me, it’s a LOT.

He told me that there is a chance I will see my money back, but nothing concrete, that I should go to the bank and finish everything and sign the documents. So I went, still in shock, my hands shaking, home to return my mom’s phone and tell her to please fill my phone card so I can make a call if anything happens, so I took a ride to the nearest bank, walked in there, explained the situation, they told me how dumb can I be, that they send information about stuff like this all the time so people know about it(of course not in these exact words).

So after all that they just basically checked everything, told me straight away that I will probably never see that money again, ripped my old card and got me a new card, the whole time I was sitting there, I was half dead just contemplating my life choices. Finished everything and walked out of there with 2 dollar on my account and no will to continue my existence.

Got to know this guy from Hinge by the name of Aiden. Conversation started normal then he will start introducing investing in cryptocurrency. He then gave you a link which linked you to this oriental wealth in mandarin and hkd. You are supposed to recharge fund via their recharge customer service team WhatsApp. The so-called customer service officer would give you random bank account to bank in the money. For the first investment it will be successful then this Aiden guy will ask you to invest more thereafter the link will not be accessible and you have to contact customer service which is another hk number. They will tell you that system under maintenance. After the system is up, this aiden guy will tell you that we missed the good timing to buy nodes and that we need to invest even more.

Fast forward to next day when they say you can withdraw the money. Their cs will tell you to pay tax and then your account will be frozen due to suspicious transaction and whatnot. That may seem like a long story but all these will happen within a day or 2. Just wanna share my experience to all of you, when the guy you know from hinge, tinder …. Etc gets pushy and persistent on asking you to invest. Something is very wrong. And if you were to ask you to recharge funds into random local bank account. Something is very wrong too. Scam don’t just happen to elderly. It will happen to young people like us too. Ny case is still pending police investigation and i called the bank to report as fraud. Hopefully able to take some money back.
