Whenever there is a disaster of major event, there will always be people who takes advantage of the situation.

According to Malaysian media, The Star, a worker in Malaysia resorted to photoshopping his ART kit to make it look like a positive result in order to get free odd days.

The worker told the media outlet that he first took a regular test which shows one line (negative results).

He would then use a photo editing software to copy the line and paste if over the positive section depicting a positive result.

He even proudly told the media that “it is easy” and it would not be discovered easily unless someone look at the photo closely.

As the copied line is the original pixel density as the rest of the image, it would be almost impossible to detect if the photo has been edited.

The man said that he uploaded the photo to their local COVID-19 app and received a Home surveillance Order.

Another woman told The Star that she was forced to do same thing as she had no one to babysit her child.

The official in Malaysia stated that they will take actions against individuals who submit fake test results.

The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, challenged Russian president Vladimir Putin to a fight, with the winner getting Ukraine.

Musk said on Twitter on 14 March that he “hereby challenge Vladimir Putin to single combat. Stakes are Ukraine.”

He then added in Russian, “do you accept this fight?” as he directly challenged the Russian president to a fight.

Musk then added that he was absolutely serious when a Twitter user told him that he might not have thought his decision through.

Putin has recently been stripped of his black belt by the world taekwondo federation following his invasion of Ukraine.

Elon Musk added that “If Putin could so easily humiliate the west, then he would accept the challenge. But he will not.”

Minister of Education Chan Chun Sing shared how he was shown around Jurong Secondary School by their students, calling it a very memorable visit.

I was left in the good hands of Vivian, Yi Xuan and their schoolmates, from the moment I arrived at Jurong Secondary School.

They showed me around the school with great pride, deftly answered my questions, and shared many interesting details that reflected their interest and love for their school.

It was clear that the principal and teachers have tremendous faith and trust in their students – they are given space to lead independently and be themselves, and the confidence that this instils in the students shone brightly.

Jurong Secondary School was honoured to host Minister for Education and Minister-in-Charge of the Public Service, Mr. Chan Chun Sing. As JSS is one of the pilot schools for FSBB, Minister Chan was able to participate in common curriculum lessons to better understand what the FSBB Art and PE classrooms are like.

Hosted by our student councillors, Yi Xuan and Vivien, Minister Chan toured the school and its facilities, including the canteen and our very own POD Café to get a taste of student life in JSS.

Minister Chan also had dialogues with students to gather feedback and concerns. Additionally, the students shared their hopes for the education system.

The staff of JSS were delighted to engage Minister Chan in a conversation about the future of Singapore’s educational landscape. He shared some ideas and initiatives through which we can further enrich the lives of our students.

Thank you Minister Chan for gracing us with your presence and for being so candid with us as you shared your wisdom and perspectives.

A married woman confronted her “boyfriend” for interacting with other woman escalated from a verbal altercation into a stabbing case.

37-year-old Sui ShiYingHui drank several cans of beer before looking for the man at his birthday party.

Sui who is a Chinese National and Singapore PR was jailed for 8 months for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon.

Background

Although the woman was married she regarded the victim as a “boyfriend” as their relationship was close. The man knew that she was married and did not thought of her as a girlfriend.

On Augest 23 2021, the man had a birthday party and the accused arrive at his home and started arguing with the victim.

During the party the woman shouted vulgarities and claimed that she wants to take the life of the victim.

She went to the kitchen and picked up a knife and charged towards the victim and stabbed him in the chest. Although one of the man on the scene tried to stop her, she manage to break free and assaulted the victim.

The man suffered injuries with a 1.5cm cut on his left chase.

The Ministry of Education said that from today onwards, all individuals will be able to get their vaccintion done without appointments.

Persons who are eligible for the jab can just walk into any vaccination centre.

Here is MOE’s statement

From 17 March 2022, all individuals regardless of age who are eligible for COVID-19 vaccination will be able to walk in for their primary vaccination series and booster doses without the need for an appointment every day of the week, before 7pm.

2. This means that children aged 5 to 11 years can walk in with their parents/guardians to any paediatric vaccination centre1 (VC) to receive their vaccination doses. Similarly, individuals aged 12 to 17 years may now walk in to any VC offering the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccine to receive their primary vaccination series and booster dose. Individuals aged 18 years and above may walk into any VC offering mRNA vaccines to receive their primary vaccination series and booster dose.

Update on Paediatric Vaccination for Children Aged Between 5 and 11

3. As of 13 March 2022, about a quarter million children aged between 5 to 11 have signed up for COVID-19 vaccination. 444,000 doses have been administered, with 248,000 children receiving at least their first dose, while 196,000 have received their second dose. Among the students in our primary schools, 83% have received at least their first dose, while 69% have received both doses. In addition, over 29,000 children born in 2016 and 2017 have registered on the Ministry of Health’s National Appointment System. 28,000 have received at least their first dose, while 17,000 have received their second dose.

4. For the convenience of parents/guardians of children who may have missed their second dose appointment, they can re-book their second dose vaccination appointment or walk in with their child/ward to the same paediatric VC2 where the child received their first dose on any day before 7pm3 to complete the vaccination. Should the paediatric VC no longer be in operation4, parents/guardians may bring their child/ward to any paediatric VCs for their second dose. We strongly encourage children to complete both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

5. We seek the understanding and cooperation of parents/guardians to keep to the stipulated hours for the walk-in arrangement, so that we can provide a smooth and orderly vaccination process for all our children. Parents/guardians should release any prior bookings made, if they vaccinate their child/ward under the walk-in arrangement.

6. All children aged 5 to 11 must also be accompanied by one parent/guardian at the VC for their vaccination. On the day of the vaccination, parents/guardians should bring along Student Identification, or if not available, other forms of identification (e.g. Birth Certificate/Passport/SingPass) for verification. Parents/guardians will also be required to bring a signed hard or soft copy of the parental consent form, which can be downloaded at https://go.gov.sg/parcf.

7. Children who have an official record of their COVID-19 infection would be considered fully vaccinated after receiving a single dose of the vaccine post-infection. Children who had recovered from COVID-19 and have yet to complete their primary vaccination series are recommended to receive a single dose of the vaccine at least three months after the date of their infection to complete their vaccination. Children who tested positive on a self-administered antigen rapid test (ART), or via ARTs not done at an approved test provider, would not have an official record of his/her infection. These children would need to receive two doses of the vaccine to be considered fully vaccinated. It is safe for them to do so.

Update on Booster Doses for Individuals Aged 12 and Above

8. As of 15 March 2022, 70% of the total population have received their booster dose.

9. The Ministry of Health and the Expert Committee on COVID-19 Vaccination had previously recommended for all persons aged 12 years and above to receive a booster dose of mRNA vaccine offered under the National Vaccination Programme five months after completing their primary vaccination series. They are considered fully vaccinated for 270 days after the last dose of their primary vaccination series, and will require a booster dose to maintain their vaccinated status thereafter.

10. Persons who have recovered from COVID-19 infection and completed the recommended COVID-19 vaccination may receive a booster vaccination. It is safe for them to do so. They may receive the booster dose 28 days after infection, although they are recommended to do so three months from the infection and around five months after the last dose of their primary vaccination series (whichever is later) for better effectiveness.

11. Individuals aged 12 to 17 will require the consent of their parent/guardian to receive the booster dose, and should bring along their Student Identification, or if not available, other forms of identification (e.g. Birth Certificate/Passport/SingPass) for verification purposes. All children aged 12 to 17 will also be required to bring a signed hard or soft copy of the parental consent form, which can be downloaded at https://go.gov.sg/parcf. Parents/guardians of children aged 13 and above are not required to accompany them on the day of vaccination. However, children aged 12 will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian, as per the arrangements for the primary vaccination series.

12. We invite individuals and parents/guardians to take full advantage of the capacity and good geographical spread of our VCs, before more VCs are closed down in the coming weeks. The list of vaccination centres can be found at www.vaccine.gov.sg/locations-vcs.

  1. The paediatric VC at Yusof Ishak Secondary School (VC@YISS) has ceased all walk-in appointments for the first dose since 10 March 2022.
  2. Parents/guardians getting their child/ward vaccinated under this arrangement at VC@YISS can do so from Tuesday to Saturday before 4pm as the VC@YISS is closed on Sunday and Monday.
  3. Prior to this arrangement, children aged 5 to 11 could only walk in to any paediatric VC from Monday to Thursday before 7pm.
  4. The paediatric VCs at Nanyang Community Club (CC) and Queenstown CC were closed on 28 February 2022, while VC@YISS will cease operations on 1 April 2022.

PRC MAN ARRESTED FOR DELIVERING CONTRABAND CIGS @ CHAI CHEE

Singapore Customs arrested a 32-year-old male China national and seized 59 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes in an operation on 15 March 2022.

Details:

During an operation conducted on 15 March 2022 at the vicinity of Chai Chee Avenue, Singapore Customs officers spotted a red Singapore registered car. Officers moved in to conduct a check and found 59 cartons of
duty-unpaid cigarettes in the truck. A China national man, who was the driver of the vehicle,
was arrested.

Investigations revealed that the duty-unpaid cigarettes in the trunk of the vehicle and large amounts of cash was found on the individual.

The duty-unpaid cigarettes and vehicle were seized. Cash amounting to $6,258, which was suspected to be criminal proceeds from the sale of duty-unpaid cigarettes, was seized during the operation.

Court proceedings against the man are ongoing.

Penalties:

Buying, selling, conveying, delivering, storing, keeping, possessing or dealing with
duty-unpaid goods are serious offences under the Customs Act and the GST Act.
Offenders can be fined up to 40 times the amount of duty and GST evaded and/or
jailed for up to six years. Vehicles used in the commission of such offences are liable
to be forfeited

A Facebook user, Mai Surah, shared an appeal for witnesses regarding an alleged incident that happened to her on 8 March.

Here is what she said

Hi Friends!

I’m appealing for witnesses. Please help!

On Tuesday, 8 March 2022 at about 6pm, my husband noticed that there were 3 people loitering at the playground and taking pictures of our children who were playing there.

My husband approached one of them and ask him why they are taking pictures of our children.

This man (SDA #1) said “nothing concerns you”. and “I will delete them later.” and then shoved my husband. They began running away.

My husband then took his bicycle to chase after them while I try to keep up. I began taking pictures of them when i manage to keep up after the traffic lights.

While i was taking photos, one of them (SDA #3) pushed me down onto the road and i fell on my tummy knowing that I’m pregnant (i am 9 months pregnant) he kicked me while I was lying down trying to get back up.

During this time, a car drove by and honked at us. This happened at about 6:16pm along Woodlands Ave 1 Blk 536A.

My husband stopped the man who kicked me and manage to hold him down while waiting for the police. While the other 2 (SDA #1 and #2) ran away.

It turned out that these 2 men and 1 women were SDAs. I found the pass at the grass patch but we are still unsure if they are REAL SDAs.

Police came 10 minutes later. Report has been made and statements have been taken. My baby is thankfully alright although my face was swollen and sustained bruises. Unfortunately, we did not receive any updates from any source.

In order to make a stronger case, we need witnesses and the car that drove by to give their account on what they saw.

I have so many questions regarding these SDAs.

1. Why didn’t they identify themselves when asked? They also did not display their passes.

2. Why are they running away and appear/acting suspicious and violent?

3. Are they allowed to take pictures whenever they like and then delete them later? Who will supervise and ensure that they will delete later?

4. Will there be any disciplinary action taken against them? I hope the authority can shed some light on this.

HDB responds

We are aware of a social media post describing an incident involving our Safe Distancing Ambassadors who were carrying out their duties at Woodlands.

On 8 March 2022, three of our Safe Distancing Ambassadors were on patrol and taking some pictures for routine reporting purposes, when they encountered two members of the public.

An altercation arose, and our Safe Distancing Ambassadors have since made police reports.

Our Safe Distancing Ambassadors wear their passes so that they can identify themselves as Safe Distancing Ambassadors, in the course of their duty.

As the Police are investigating, we are unable to comment further and would urge the public to refrain from speculating on the incident pending these investigations.

I (30F) and my husband (30M) recently moved into this neighborhood at Punggol and we’re not loving it. The whole area gives off bad vibes tbh.

But we’re stuck here for a bit because of work so we’re sucking it up.

Anyways, our neighbors are.. interesting. They’re super religious and very uptight. They give off extreme classist vibes and are just fake all around. They have around 6 children and the youngest is a boy around the age of 13 or 14. Let’s call him James. My husband and I often hear James playing guitar almost everyday when his entire family is gone. We didn’t think much of it but he’s quite good.

Well, the other day, my husband was found out that James sneaks outside ur apartment and hides his guitar in our riser. We know it’s his guitar because the both of us can’t play instruments and we’ve seen the kid with the guitar

My husband was really upset. He said that the thought of someone opening our riser gave him the creeps and he didn’t want the kid to do it anymore. I agree(d) but I also felt bad for James. I suggested we talk to James while his family was out and I was also planning on telling James to hand us the guitar when he wanted to hide it instead of sneaking.

My husband got mad at this and said it wasn’t our responsibility to keep his guitar safe and that we needed to tell his parents so that they can keep him out of trouble.

We were still discussing what to do but I got an important call from work so our convo ended as I had to leave. I assumed we’d talk later but my husband immediately went to our neighbor’s house and told the parents what happened.

When I found out I was furious. Then it got worse when I noticed James crying in his backyard. I used to be that kid whose parents didn’t let her have any interests so I really felt for him. Ever since, I haven’t spoken to my husband unless it was regarding bills, food etc.

He’s calling me childish and petty which fine but he made a decision with no regards for my opinion or for what might happen to the kid. I ignored him which made him more upset. I told my best friend what happened and she told me that she doesn’t agree with his approach but I should stop with the silent treatment.

So I did but when I tried to talk about the situation with my husband, he said I needed to get over it. He’s getting the silent treatment again.

BANGLADESHI MEN WHO ALLEGEDLY RAPED WOMAN, REMANDED

Two Bangladeshi men, Ahmed Rayhan, 30-years-old, and Alam Foysal, 36, allegedly raped a woman near Pioneer Road on 8 March at about 12.30am to 2.20am.

They have since been remanded for psychiatric observation on 17 March at the Changi Prison Complex’s medical centre.

The two men are expected to return to court next month after also being previously remanded for a week to assist in investigations.

They appeared in court earlier today via video link before the court proceedings proceeded via a Bengali translator.

Rayhan was unrepresented in court while Foysal was represented by A Revi Shanker.

My 25-year-old girlfriend who worked as a nurse has had a rough year. She was diagnosed with epilepsy 10 years ago but her seizures have suddenly become very frequent and she was told by her doctor that she has to stop working until they can get her epilepsy under control again. I didn’t want her to eat through her savings so I have been financially supporting her as I work a decent paying job. This has made her incredibly depressed because she loved her job and she hates depending on others.

This Christmas my girlfriend and I agreed that we weren’t going to be doing gifts. But after such a bad year, I felt like she deserved something and I decided to go all-in and buy her a Coach bag. I spent $800 on it and I’ve been hiding it from her for two months.

I thought she’d be over the moon but this morning I finally surprised her with it and she literally broke down crying and then started yelling at me. She told me that I was purposely trying to make her look like a bad partner because she can’t afford to buy me anything and then said that I was treating her like a “sugar baby” which I thought was completely ridiculous.

I told her she was being dramatic and it’s just a bag, she should be happy. This argument went on for about an hour before she told me and I quote, “shove the bag up your A.” and then she called her sister to come to pick her up and take her to her parents.

We’ve been together for 6 years and this is the first Christmas we spent without each other so I’ve been upset all day. I called her repeatedly throughout the day but she ignored them all so I sent her a snarky text message “Thanks for a great Fking Christmas.” I think it’s understandable that I’m frustrated.

Around an hour ago, my girlfriend’s sister called me to tell me that my girlfriend had a bad seizure and she had to be taken to hospital and then her sister tried to blame ME for it because I “stressed her out.” I’m honestly that pissed off about this entire situation and I can’t even see my girlfriend because no visitors are allowed at the hospital due to the restrictions.

This is the worst Christmas ever and it’s all because I bought my girlfriend a present. How is it my fault, Because I feel like I’m missing something.
