JOGGER RAN INTO WOMAN CYCLING, CAUSING THE BICYCLE TO CRASH

0

A netizen shared how she was cycling with her mother at Marina Barrage when a jogger ran into her mother’s bicycle and caused her to crash.

He apparently didn’t apologize and allegedly insisted that it was her mother’s fault.

Jogging lane

The netizen’s mother was apparently near the jogging lane when the accident happened, with the netizen reiterating that she wasn’t on the jogging lane, but near it.

She also highlighted how her mother was wearing bright colours and her bicycle had lights on it.

Here is her story:

Jogger vs cyclist

“My mother ( in the photos) and I were cycling at the marina barrage lane when a random runner ( looked like he was in his late 30s) ran into my mother’s bike and crashed causing her to fall and get injured.

The guy didn’t apologise and said that it was my mom’s fault for getting into the (pedestrian/joggers’) lane.

He said that it was her fault for cycling in the pedestrian lane when she was only just near it.

Even if my mom was in the pedestrian lane she was wearing bright colours with lights on her bike and it would be impossible for the runner to not see my mom.”

1.7M TALL GUY SAYS HE IS SHORT – EVEN GIRLS ARE TALLER THAN HIM

0

A netizen shared how he is 171cm tall and lamented how he feels short in Singapore.

He said that he can count on 1 hand the number of guys he has seen who are below 171cm.

Here is his story:

Feels “171cm” is short in Singapore

“I knew I was not the only lone 171cm guy who felt short in Singapore.

Some guys my height might say this is ok, blabla it is not short. Oh really? I wonder if they really stepped out of their house and carefully observe the guys and girls around them, especially strangers. Or are they hiding in their own shell and ownself comfort ownself?

What makes it worse is those guys who claim they are short or have friends who are short. Really? I par par zao alot and the guys I carefully counted ( who are below 171cm ), can be done with 1 hand.

In fact I dont even remember the last time I saw a shorter guy. Most guys I see are humongous 180cm++ because my eye level is only at their shoulders.

The netizens who claim they are really shorter than me should be punished for fake news! It is easy to say than proving it.

If you really make a trip down to east coast, you will notice that even all those fitspo and biker ladies (yes gals…) are at least taller than 171cm. You wont even feel like a guy next to them.

And yes… comparing with guys is out of league. Why I claim this is because I frequent East Coast often and I survey a lot.

So to those bright minds of nation, the medical doctors, do you know of any limb lengthening procedure that has a high success rate?

My aim is to reach at least 185cm.”

Editor’s note: At least you are “down to earth”… Get it? because you are closer to the earth on the ground.

JOANNE PEH: THERE’S A REASON WHY “CONTRACTORS” START WITH “CON”

0

Veteran actress Joanne Peh shared a cryptic post onto her Instagram, saying that there is a “reason why (contractors) starts with ‘con’, though I cannot understand why it has to be this way.”

She then asked: “Do I look like a carrot?”

Renovation woes

Peh and her husband Qi Yuwu, bought a new home in September last year and started renovation works on it.

They had initially hoped to complete the works and move in by the end of the year – alas it has been a year and the renovation has yet to be completed.

With her recent Instagram post, she alluded to her contractor allegedly being dishonest.

Not all contractors are bad

Her Instagram post drew the ire of netizens who slammed her for her caption, with a netizen commenting that not all contractors are con men.

The netizen said that they are making an honest and hard living and that they don’t expect others to understand the difficulties that they face in their line of work.

Peh then replied that she understand where the netizen is coming from, reiterating that she believes in the goodness of people and that there will be bad eggs in any industry.

Who are you to tell me what I should share?

Another netizen called her out for criticizing the entire trade, to which Peh then told the netizen off:

“Who are you to tell me what I should be sharing and what not? Or even saying that I need to specifically say what had happened. If I do, it will attract the wrong attention and people will end up taking sides, that’s not the intent – which I will reiterate.”

HOMELESS ELDERLY SEEN SLEEPING ON CARDBOARD AT HDB VOID DECKS

0

Activist Gilbert Goh, the founder of a charity movement called “Do Something Good For Singapore”, shared the plight of at least 10 rough sleepers that his group chanced upon during an outreach session.

Several elderly people were seen sleeping on benches at void decks.

Here is what he said:

Difficult night to stomach

“A difficult night to stomach as we witnessed at least ten rough sleepers within a one-kilometer radius in the central part of Singapore during last night outreach.

Most of them are elderly Chinese men sleeping off the benches below the void deck of HDB blocks.

It’s an area which we have neglected all along as we are struggling with eight other clusters but with the removal of Changi airport under our list, we now could add one or two more on our clustered rough-sleeper weekly visitation.

We have been to this area last year but the one-year absence has seen the addition of alot more homeless folks – a similar phenomenon we witnessed in many parts of Singapore.

The Covid pandemic has rendered many elderly folks homeless more so due to the complexity of their lodging partnership with another co-owner than anything else.

As for last night’s outreach, we could only gasp in utter surprise and shock as in every HDB block we went to, there is at least a rough sleeper huddling in the cold and hopefully our blankets, mask, jacket and biscuits have provided them some hope that humanity is still around in this covid-hit harsh environment.

Do something good for Singapore – a charity movement to alleviate the hardships of displaced elderly Singaporeans.”

Roughing it out on the street

A quick look at the photos that Goh shared on his Faceboook showed a group of elderly men and women sleeping on benches at void decks.

An elderly man was seen sleeping on the floor with a makeshift cardboard bed that he set up.

Another man was seen outrightly sleeping on the floor of the street without even the minuscule comfort of cardboard.

An elderly man was also seen rummaging through the rubbish bin.

PRISON INMATES WITH COVID HOUSED AT SELARANG PARK COMPLEX

0

The Singapore Prison Service (SPS) said that there are 66 prison inmates infected with Covid-19 being housed at a quarantine centre, according to The Straits Times.

They are being housed at the Selarang Park Complex as of 18 November.

SPS said that some of the infected inmates who were infected across all the prisons are sent there – those who are asymptomatic and shared a cell with others will be sent there.

They added that they do allow inmates who are held inside single cells to stay in their own cell during the recovery because they don’t come into contact with others.

However the same cannot be done for those who are sharing cells with other inmates.

Those who were moved to the quarantine centre will then by taken care of by a team of healthcare officers.

However, with that being said, the centre is not a medical centre – those who require treatment will be sent to the nearest government hospital under supervision.

The decision to send the inmate to the hospital will be up to the prison medical officer’s discretion, according to the inmates symptoms, age, vaccination status and etc.

UNVACCINATED PEOPLE NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER VDS PLACES WITH PET RESULT

0

The Ministry of Health (MOH) provided an update to their 20 November press release, adding that unvaccinated persons will not be allowed to use Pre-Event Testing (PET) to enter Vaccinated-differentiated Safe Management Measures (VDS) places from 2022.

They explained that this is to protect the unvaxxed from infection because they are at a bigger risk of contracting severe illnesses.

With effect from 1 January 2022

At the moment, those who are unvaccinated can enter VDS places with a negative PET result.

However, this will no longer be the case from 1 January 2022.

Under the updated guidelines, only those who are fully vaccinated, recovered from the coronavirus and medically ineligible to get vaccinated will be allowed to enter VDS places such as hawker centres, coffee shops and etcetera.

Children under 12-years-old will also be allowed to enter VDS places.

This means that those who are unvaccinated by choice have about a little over a month to get themselves fully vaccinated before the rule change takes effect.

0

A netizen, Paul Ong, shared a story about how he left his wife’s parcel behind at a Wok Hey outlet at Northpoint City after buying food for her.

According to Mothership, Ong was afraid of incurring her wrath, the man then messaged the company on Facebook messenger and sought their help.

The company then replied him within seconds asking him to describe what the box looks like and confirming that it was left behind at the Northpoint City outlet.

They then did some checks and confirmed that it was indeed still there, being kept safe by the staff.

Well done to Wok Hey for saving this man’s life!

LARGE GROUPS HAVING GATHERING BESIDE BASKETBALL COURT

A video emerged online showing a large group of people gathering illegally at the side of a basketball court.

Many of the people were seen in large groups, with one that was especially large – there were about 11 persons inside the group in the middle.

They were seen mingling around with each other while the other group was playing basketball.

For non-compliance with safe management measures under the COVID-19 offenders may be jailed for up to six months, fined up to S$10,000, or both.

If they are caught by the Police for not wearing a mask or not wearing a mask properly they can be charged under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020.

ITEMS SEEN THROWN DOWN FROM HDB UNIT ONTO VOID DECK

A video emerged online showing a bunch of items being strewn all over the ground floor of a HDB building.

The items appeared to have been thrown down from the units above, although the reason for it is currently unclear.

A couple of chairs were even seen among the sea of litter.

There appears to be some sort of event being held at the void deck, although whether it correlates to the rubbish being strewn all over remains unclear.

A netizen speculated that a family could’ve been fighting in the units above and threw their possessions down from their home.

Potential penalties

Killer litter refers to things that are thrown from high-rise buildings that could cause death (ie. the chair that was presumably thrown down from the unit).

Persons convicted under Section 336 of the penal code for the throwing of killer litter, faces a jail term of up to 6 months and/or a fine of up to $2,500.
