A 17-year-old teenager has died from his injuries after a basketball hoop structure falls on him yesterday night(July 26).
According to the Police, they were alerted at around 8.43 PM that a boy was found injured beside the structure at Blk 18 Bedok South Road.
The boy was sent to the Changi General Hospital and he was unconscious throughout the journey, the boy later died from his injuries.

The East Coast Town Council is deeply saddened by news of an unfortunate incident which happened in the evening of Monday, 26 July 2021 at the basketball court next to Block 18 Bedok South Road.
Based on the initial information received, a basketball hoop structure had collapsed and fell onto one of the users of the court. For the safety of our residents, we have closed the basketball court with immediate effect so as to conduct a thorough check on the integrity of all structures there. Our heart goes out to the victim and his family.
We will work closely with the relevant agencies to provide support and assistance to them.I
n the meantime, police investigations are ongoing, and we would like to appeal for witnesses of the incident to contact Bedok Police Division at 1800-244-0000. The Town Council is also cooperating with the police in the investigations
ICA officers foiled an attempt to smuggle duty unpaid cigarettes into Singapore.
Officers at Tanjong Pagar Scanning Station detected anomalies in scanned images of a 40 feet shipping container, and found contraband cigarettes hidden in 18 paint drums that were declared as “colouring materials”.
A total of 234 cartons x 200 sticks and 111 packets x 20 sticks of contraband cigarettes were seized.
According to an advisory that was posted at the KFC outlet of Fairprice hub. A staff working in the restaurant was tested positive for COVID-19 on 25 July 2021.
The staff was last in the restaurant on 22 July 2021.
The KFC outlet is currently close and advising customers who have visited the premises on July 22 to monitor their health or visit the doctor if they feel are well.
KFC did not indicate how long the closure would be.
Another dead body was found at the foot of a HDB buillding.
It is unclear when the incident happened, although the video surfaced online earlier today (26 July).
A Singapore Police blue tent usually used to cover up dead bodies was seen set up at the foot of the block, with the immediate area being cordoned off.
A police car and ambulance was seen at the scene, as well as several police officers around the area.
The incident happened at Block 44, Owen Road.

A 64-year-old man pleaded guilty on 26 July to 4 counts of sexual penetration of a minor under 14.
11 other similar charges will be taken into consideration during sentencing.
The victims and accused cannot be named due to a gag order.
What happened?
The man was working as a dishwasher and stayed alone at a HDB flat at the time.
The 13-year-old victims were staying in the same block as the man, and they got to know him through their father.
The man would meet the victims’ parents and ask for cigarettes.
The boy would run into the man occasionally at a nearby coffeeshop and ask him for cigarettes.
The man then eventually invited him to his flat to chat, the boy went on 2 occasions and asked him for cigarettes.
The boy then visited the man’s home some time before June 2016 for the third time and the man then played p*rnography on his laptop for the boy to watch.
The boy asked for cigarettes and the two then smoked together while watching p*rn, which was showing a man performing a sexual act on another man.
The man asked the boy if he could do the same to him and the boy complied.
The boy then felt disgusted but took $20 and a few ciggs from the man before leaving.
In June/July 2016, the boy wanted cigarettes and went to the man’s flat, knowing that the man would give him money and cigarettes for the sexual acts.
Targeted the boy’s 13-year-old sister
The man then began asking the boy’s sister for similar acts.
In May 2017, the girl was with a friend at a void deck when she chanced upon the man.
She asked him for cigarettes because she remembered her brother told her that the man had give him some.
The man said he didn’t have any on him and asked her to go to his flat later.
The girl’s friend was waiting at the staircase as she went up, with the offender telling her that if she wanted cigarettes she cannot bring a friend.
The girl then went to the man’s flat alone a few days later, who asked her to take off her shirt before he passed her a cigarette.
The girl refused in shock but the man told her that it would only be for a while.
The girl then did as she was told and the man molested her, he then asked her to perform a sex act on him, which she did.
The man then gave her $40 and told her not to tell anyone what happened.
A few days later the two met again at a void deck and he invited her to his house for cigarettes, where they smoked and the girl performed a sex act on him upon his request.
He then told her that he had no money that day but would give her some the next time he saw her.
She was given a few sticks of cigarettes and a few days later took $50 from him.
The crimes were revealed in 2 November 2019 when she lodged a police report claiming that her father had raped her.
The offences were uncovered during ensuing investigation and the officer then lodged a police report 4 days later.
A netizen shared a story of his curiosity saying that he wants to go to Geylang to procure some illegal services from women of the night at Geylang.

A 40-year-old man pleaded guilty to three charges of endangering the safety of a child, failing to present himself for a urine test under a supervision order, as well as voluntarily causing hurt.
He was sentenced on 26 July to 17 months jail, a fourth charge was taken into consideration during his sentencing.
What happened?
He was reportedly under a drug supervision order but didn’t show up for his urine test on 22 July 2019 without a valid reason.
The man then went to the police post to lodge a traffic accident report involving his company van.

The officer managed to catch the baby (thankfully) and passed her to his colleague before resuming his chase, eventually nabbing him.
A SAF regular committed a series of crimes against 3 victims and he is faces ranging from molestation, penetration and sexual penetration of a minor.
A gag order has been declared to protect the identities of the victims.
The 24-year-old SAF regular started breaking the law since he was 19-years-old.
First victim
He met a 15-year-old girl in 2015 on Facebook and brought her out for a movie and followed by penetrating the minor. The accused was only 19-years-old then.
Second Victim
He met up with his secondary school friend on 10 June 2018 and was out drinking with her, as the night falls the victim get more and more drunk as they were having an alcohol buffet, the woman fell hit her head, vomited and eventually lose consciousness.
The accused escorted the victim out of the drinking premises and told his other friends that he will bring her home as the victim’s parents will get angry if she returned home drunk.
After bringing the victim back to his home he took a shower and realised that the victim was still unconscious. He then violated her with no protection and the victim did not know what had happened.
She only found out later when she confronted the accused as her privates felt uncomfortable. The victim later went to the hospital and found out that she was positive for chlamydia and Gardnerella.
13 September 2018 – Hotel in Geylang
She meets another secondary school friend and the victim was confiding with the accused regarding the problems of her boyfriend.
They had three litres of beer and the accused started molesting her, the victim resisted and told him to stop. He later proposed to the victim to go to a hotel but the victim did not agree.
He then claimed that he will book a private hire to send her home but the vehicle drove to Geylang Golden Star Hotel located along 31 Geylang Lorong 8.
He kept tried to persuade the victim into the hotel and promised that he won’t do anything to her, the victim believed and follow him into the hotel room. The victim was later molested after leaving the shower.
After the victim resisted, the man knew that he won’t have a chance of doing anything with her and went to sleep.
The victim later reported the incident to the Police.
10-year-old girl
The man met a 10-year-old girl online through the mobile app Tinder in June 2019, the man tried to play “truth or dare” with the 10-year-old and successfully tricked her into sending a nude photo of herself.
Charges
He was assess at Institute of Mental Health (MOH) and reports said that he does not have a sound mind.
He was assessed at the Institute of Mental Health and found to have paraphilic tendencies but not to be of unsound mind.
The Prosecutor Tan Yen Seow is pressing for at least 15 years’ jail and 15 strokes of the cane.
