There are people who prefer to use their own containers to da-bao (takeaway) food for various reasons, some to save money on the package fee while others are hoping to reduce the use of plastic. A netizen posted a story online and said that his mother was scolded for doing so.
Here is the story:
A recent incident happened to my mum. Wonder if it happened to anyone before. this happened a few weeks ago when my mum went to this Yong Tau Fu stall at Blk 964 Jurong west st 91 NTI Foodcourt during lunchtime.
My mum brought her own container (as usual everywhere she goes to buy food) but this man gave her a good scolding for doing that, saying that she was making lives difficult for them. Why can’t just dabao like everyone else.
He continued scolding and started giving nasty remarks and even unnecessarily said why not bring your own chilli packet container and just cook at home. or don’t take more chilli than the number of packets you buy. My mum was really angry and scolded him back. Wanted to cancel and walk away but she couldn’t because he already took the money.
He also told my mum go and complain or she wants. she came back to tell us what happened. But we realized we are also helpless to what we can do except to not buy from their shop ever again.
So really, sometimes we are even scared to reduce packaging waste or bring our own containers now.

At one point in your career, one would often think is earning more happiness or living a peaceful life having good job happiness. Everyone has a different point of view. A girl posted her story online claiming her displeasure with her partner just because the guy wants to be happy.
Here is the story:
Can anyone give me advice how to deal with an unambitious partner?
Don’t get me wrong, my boyfriend is not some lazy bum who is jobless and sits at home doing nothing. We both have been working for 3 years and he is an executive at some MNC.
We are currently earning about 4.5k each. He is an unambitious and lowkey guy at work who just does enough to keep his job but doesn’t aim for more. Once, his boss wanted to put him on the company’s leadership track but he rejected. He has also been approached by a headhunter offering him a higher paid but more intensive job and he rejected as well.
The reason he gave is that he just wants an easy life at work (which he currently is) and doesn’t want more stress. After work, he just comes home to relax and play games, netflix etc while I see some of my friends around my age who are taking part time masters/ online courses or doing side hustles etc. Character wise, he has everything a girl can ask for in a partner- kind, caring, fillial, humorous and considerate.
But his unambitious side is really what kept bugging me. Given his credentials- FCH, high IQ, good ppl skills and he can speak well professionally, I know he has the potential to achieve so much more.
Now he’s just putting his career on autopilot simply put. I know it’s hard to change a person’s nature but should I just accept him for who he is? I know that if I settle with him, I will always live with the idea that he could have achieved much more but never went out to.
