40 PEOPLE EVACUATED FROM TAMPINES BLK 395 FIRE

According to SCDF a HDB unit located at  Blk 395 Tampines Ave 7 caught fire which resulted the evacuation of about 40 residents from the block.

At about 9.40am, SCDF was alerted to a fire at the aforementioned address.

Upon arrival, SCDF firefighters wearing breathing apparatus sets conducted forced entry into the smoke-logged unit on the 10th floor. SCDF rescued an occupant through the window of the affected unit. The fire, which involved a bedroom of the unit was extinguished with one water jet.

About 40 residents from levels 9 to 12 of the affected block were evacuated by the Police as a precautionary measure. A resident from the 11th floor fell during evacuation and was conveyed to Sengkang General Hospital.

The unit occupant who was rescued by SCDF firefighters was assessed by a paramedic and subsequently refused conveyance to the hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

BOY STUCK INSIDE WASHING MACHINE, BANG ON DOOR FOR HELP

A video emerged online showing a boy stuck inside a washing machine.

He was seen banging on the doors of the washing machine for help.

He was eventually let out.

A video emerged online showing a young boy being harassed by an uncle.

The uncle was apparently asking him to touch his kkb “for a while only”, “just 5 mins”.

He then asked the boy how often does he “jerk”.

All the while the boy refused and kept saying no.

EBIKES SPEEDING ON THE ROAD, FASTER THAN CARS

About 5 ebikes were seen speeding on the road, weaving in and out of traffic.

They were riding at more than 70km/h, faster than the cars on the road.

The speed camera even flashed at 2 of the riders.

The incident happened along Boon Lay Way on 2 July.

SECURITY GUARD KENA ROBBED BY MONKEY AT GUARD ROOM

A video emerged online showing a security guard having his lunch inside a guard room.

A monkey then jumped inside and startled him.

The monkey then reached out for the food, and the startled security guard gave it up.

The funny incident appears to have happened in Malaysia.

80 Y.O MAN FOUND DEAD AND FLOATING IN KALLANG RIVER

The body of an 80-year-old man was found floating in the waters of Kallang River on 3 July at about 8.40am.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

A huge part of the Kallang Park Connector was cordoned off and the area near the Kolam Ayer ABC Waterfront at Geylang Bahru was sealed off as well.

About 6 police officers were at the scene.

The police said that no foul play is suspected based on preliminary investigations.

The police are currently investigating the case.

SPEEDING DRIVER CRASHED INTO AND KILLED CYCLIST, JAILED

Johnson Yap, 49-years-old, pleaded guilty to one charge of driving without reasonable consideration and was sentenced on 2 July to 26 weeks jail and banned from driving for 8 years.

He was speeding at twice the road limit and crashed into a cyclist, killing him.

What happened?

Yap was driving along Tampines Avenue 3 on 21 November 2019.

He overtook a bus and sped down a few lanes, before coming to the pedestrian crossing where the 64-year-old victim was cycling and crossing the road.

Yap was driving at about 95kmh at the time and the speed limit was 50kmh.

He saw that the traffic light was green so he continued speeding, when he noticed the victim crossing.

He immediately braked but couldn’t stopped his car in time, and crashed into the victim, who was flung onto his car’s windscreen before landing on the road.

The impact was so great that the victim’s bicycle seat was ripped off and the handlebars dislodged.

The victim suffered an extensive skull fracture, a broken ankle and a deformed shin.

He later died from his injuries.

ICA OFFICER FOUND 10,600 STICKS OF CONTRABAND CIGS HIDDEN IN TYRES

On June 21, 2021, officials from the ICA’s Pasir Panjang Scanning Station thwarted an attempt to smuggle duty-free cigarettes hidden within a shipment of tyres labeled as “vehicle accessories.”

ICA officials sent the cargo for supervised unstuffing at the importer’s facilities after seeing certain abnormalities in the scanned picture of a 40ft shipping container, and duty-unpaid cigarettes were discovered concealed in the tyres.

A total of 530 packages equivalent to 10,600 sticks of duty-unpaid cigarettes were confiscated and the matter was forwarded to Singapore Customs for further investigation.

MAN FOUND DEAD, HANGING INSIDE SENTOSA TOILET

A 29-year-old man was found dead inside a toilet at Palawan Beach Walk, Sentosa.

He had apparently hung himself to death.

The incident happened on 30 June at around 7.47am, when someone discovered his body in the toilet.

The police were then called and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The site was cordoned off while police carried out their work.

The police have ruled out foul play, and investigations are ongoing.

EBIKE RIDER ON ROAD WITHOUT HELMET BECAUSE ITS HIS GRANDFATHER’S ROAD

A video emerged online showing an e-bike rider riding on the road.

He wasn’t wearing a helmet and could be seen weaving around traffic and vehicles, including a double decker bus.
