The new BTS meal launched by McDonald’s saw a buying frenzy erupt in outlets across Indonesia, with 13 outlets since closed temporarily due to Covid-19 fears brought forth by the mayhem.
Food delivery personnel tasked with picking up the meal named after the overtly popular South Korean boyband, were seen swamping the fastfood outlets.
Altercations broke out between those in line, with some of the deliverymen either not wearing masks or wearing them wrongly.
The outlets were slapped with closure tickets in Jakarta and other cities, in response to the overwhelming demand.
The South Korean Transport Ministry said yesterday (9 June) that the country is hoping to expedite travel bubble talks with Singapore and Taiwan to allow quarantine free travel for fully vaccinated people.
They are hoping for it to start as early as July.
They said that they are pushing to allow people who have taken 2 doses of the vaccine to go on group tours to countries with strong virus control measures in place, as well as being successful (relatively) at containing the pandemic.
The South Korean Transport Ministry added that talks are already underway with Singapore and Taiwan to sign a travel bubble agreement, and they are planning to reach out to other places such as Thailand and Guam as well, to discuss the possibility of reopening air travel.
An official said that the prospect of signing a travel bubble deal with Singapore is higher as they (we) have shown a lot of enthusiasm for such an agreement.
Singapore had previously planned to launch its first air travel bubble with Hong Kong in November last year, but plans were scuppered and postpones twice due to Covid-19 cases increasing.
A 21-year-old male student was sentenced to 30 months of probation yesterday (9 June) after pleading guilty to one count of molestation and one count of voyeurism.
He molested a male schoolmate during a sleepover as well as filmed a man showing in the campus gym’s toilet.
He cannot be named due to a gag order protecting the identity of the victims.
What happened?
The first victim was the guy’s male schoolmate whom they met in 2017 during their time in the school band.
They got closer after joining the band’s executive committee in 2018.
Both of them had a sleepover in 27 August 2019, and they both slept on the same bed.
The next morning, the guy pulled open the victim’s pants and underwear to take a photo, and he also inserted his hand into the victim’s underwear and molested him.
The victim later reported the incident to the police.
On 13 January 2020, the guy was in the campus gym toilet when he heard someone showering.
He then proceeded to film the guy showering by placing his phone under the cubicle.
But he was caught red-handed by the victim who shouted at him, and he retracted his phone before leaving and entering another cuble about 4 to 5 door away, and deleting the video clip before fleeing the gym.
The 2nd victim made a police report.
Investigations then revealed that the student had made similar recording before, but the recordings were deleted.
Norazidah Mohamed Zain, 33-years-old, was jailed on 9 June, for 4 months and 6 weeks for dancing naked while setting objects on fire at a back alley in Geylang.
She also admitted to leaving suspicious items at the Police Cantonment Complex, fully aware that they would cause alarm.
She pleaded guilty to one count of mischief by fire, one count of appearing nude in public and one count of placing a thing causing fear of harm.
SHe is the first person to be convicted for the charge of placing a thing causing fear of harm.
On 18 February 2021, Norazidah somehow managed to lie her way into the Police Cantonment Complex, leaving behind a white box containing a bluetooth speaker, a TV box, two remote controls, two charging wires, a red packet that contained several papers, a yellow talisman and a brooch; at the complex’s 2nd level.
She then left the complex at about 9am.
The objects inside an orange bag were found by an alarmed officer at about 4pm, and he called the security.
Norazidah was subsequently arrested and questioned, and she gave a slew of reasons for her presence at the complex; however she didn’t have a valid excuse for why she left the items behind.
Separately, on 18 March 2021, at about 11.20pm, She was spotted dancing naked and pouring powder onto the ground at a back alley in Geylang Lorong 20.
She also threw rubbish and cans into a fire on top of a metal box.
Police were notified and found burnt items, including beer cans and mosquito coils on top of the box.

A Facebook user, Nur Umairah, shared online about an encounter that she faced during her night run.
She was at Pasir Ris Park for her usual night run and on that night, she wanted to try a different route – so she ran all the way to the end of the park all alone.
To her right was lush, forested vegetation; and to her left was nothing but pitch black darkness.
She just continued running, without having much thought in her mind.
She then reached the end and turned around; and upon running back, she could hear a faint voice calling out to her from behind.
She then removed her earphones and listened, trying to figure out if it was something paranormal.
Her suspicions were proved right and she just bolted off and continued running while reciting her prayer.
Apparently, she took some photos at the time and after she edited them and increased the brightness, a figure of a woman sitting alone on a bench could be seen.
The man, Tan Boon Lee, 60-years-old, is a senior lecturer from Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP)’s School of Engineering, and he is currently suspended by the school and an internal investigation is being conducted; with NP considering the appropriate disciplinary action to be taken against him.
And now, new revelations about Tan racist behaviour has surfaced.
Used his classroom to share racist views about Islam
A former student of his class, Nurul Fatimah Binti Iskandar (@_new_rule_ on IG), shared that Tan would use their class period to have a full on discourse about Islam.
It escalated so badly that she ended up sitting on the floor outside the classroom while waiting for the unsettling speech to end.
She wrote that she was the only Muslim in the class at the time, and Tan would open websites on the projector and point out things that he didn’t agree with about the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w to the class.
Made disparaging remarks about Allah and Islam
She quoted Tan as saying the following:
“Only animals will treat their children like how Allah does to his people.”
What type of father tells you to worship him 5 times a day and threatens to send you to hell if you don’t?”
“We need to be smart enough to identify if the religion we follow is fake or not.”
Allegedly complained to NP but nothing was done
Nurul shared that she remembered being livid and trying to build up the courage to make a complaint, but nothing happened.
Tan also allegedly pointed to her and asked her if she agreed with what he was saying.
Nurul then emphasized that Tan should not be allowed back to NP after his suspension is over; that a racist Islamophobe has no place educating our youths.
Revealed to also discriminated against Christianity
Another netizen shared his experience with Tan, saying that he discriminated Christianity and caused an outrage in the class.
A man was seen in a video performing a prayer routine outside his flat, when his neighbour attempted to interrupt him by clanging a gong behind him.
The man, Livanesh Ramu, shared a video of the incident on his Facebook page.
Ramu was ringing a small bell and performing some prayer rites outside his own doorway, while a woman holding a gong, picked up a stick and used it to strike her gong repeatedly and animatedly, seemingly in mockery of his prayers.
He said that like many Hindus, the prayer that he was performing has been a part of his family’s 5-minute, twice a week prayer routine.
He added that his family has lived in their home for more than 20 years and never had any issues.
He then lamented that with the Covid-19 pandemic, shenanigans like his neighbour’s antics have become a new norm.
The ringing of bells is quite common in Hindu prayers and it is believed to drive away evil forces and allow divinity to enter the worshipper.
They are also meant to create calmness to help the worshipper’s concentration.
On Tuesday (June 8), a staff working at Four Leaves at Ion Orchard was confirmed to have the Covid-19 infection. The outlet has since closed and all staff working at that outlet were quarantined.
Another Four Leaves outlet at AMK that the staff went for training was also closed for cleaning, and all workers at that outlet will be undergoing swab test for Covid-19.
The bakery chain’s senior manager, Mr. Koji Tanabe said that a professional disinfection company was engaged to conduct disinfection for the Ion Orchard outlet on Monday.
The Ministry of Health said that the infected staff is a 35-year-old Malaysian woman.
A young guy went online to explain his side of the story about the fight that broke out between him and his ex.
Chelston said that the story his ex said was fake. He admitted that he did ask her for nudes, but said that he did not threaten her to send him her nudes.
He also said that his claim that his other ex was a player was justified as his other ex found a new boyfriend when the relationship was extremely unstable.
He also said that although in the video it looked like he slapped her, in actual fact he did not slap her.
He also released a video to further explain the situation.
