“Me and my bf had this fight two years in. Mainly because I felt like we aren’t spending enough time together and when I brought up that topic he went all mad.

He would choose to cancel our plans last min to meet with his friends instead, gave me promises but broke them anyway, and I’ve found his habit of blaming ppl (sth like gaslighting) when something goes wrong.

I’m not sure when he developed all those traits & habits but I didn’t notice them when we were friends or at the beginning of dating….

So… when I tried to talk about those He’s like “What do you want me to do?” It seems like he couldn’t change for the better and I also felt that maybe I was pushing too hard to spend more time with me.

Stupid of me to think that only if I could change my perspectives and be more understanding, we could fix this again.

Tried to be accommodating

I tried to adjust myself to his plans. Our meet-ups become unplanned ones and even if they got canceled, I tried not to feel hurt. I would pretend to enjoy every little time we have together but at the back of my mind, it was like, this man would ditch me any min for something else.

This man will shout at me for every little thing that goes wrong when it’s not even my fault…TBH, when I adjusted myself, our relationship overall improved but I’m always in a terrified state.

Some days, it gets really exhausting and I will burst out crying at night. I don’t even know why am I trying anymore…. doubting whether I can continue like this…”

Ride hailing apps like Grab and Gojek to name a few have been around for quite some time in Singapore, bringing convenience in the daily lives of many who rely heavily on Taxis and private transportation services.

Recently, a post was seen on social media talking about one Gojek driver’s daily driving routine, resulting in fellow drivers having mixed feelings on whether it is wise and safe to have a daily driving routine like this.

In this post we will take a look at the said driver’s daily routine as well as the comments from some of the fellow drivers.

The said driver

The driver in question is known as Brian.

According to the Gojek website where they proudly present their featured drivers, Brian had started driving with Gojek due to the pandemic taking a toll on his business as his business requires traveling overseas and he was no longer able to do so.

Driving routine

Gojek describes Brian as an “all-day warrior” as he aims to drive almost every day unless he has commitments with his family.

Brian drives a whopping 12 hours a day from 11am to 11pm on Mondays to Thursdays, taking two short half an hour breaks in between his driving for his meals.

This routine lets him achieve his targets of about $300 – $350 a day on the said days.

Fridays are a little different for Brian as he starts driving from 6am to 9am, before continuing from 2pm to 11pm.

When it comes to the weekends like Saturdays and Sundays, Brian drives a whopping 14 hours a day with 3 breaks in between, enabling him to hit his target of $400 – $500 daily on weekends.

The amount of $400 – $500 daily is after taking into consideration the platform fees and service charges which Gojek charges every driver and after incentives.

Enjoys driving

Despite putting in the long hours each day, Brian said that he finds that the daily incentives given to him are quite achievable within his typical driving routine and he stresses that he is not a driver who will go all out and put in the extra effort to drive.

He finds that these earnings that he achieves are satisfactory in his standards and he is happy and does not feel any stress.

Advice to fellow drivers

Brian advises fellow drivers to take care of their health, keep a positive mindset and recharge with their loved ones.

He also advises drivers to drive smart and be patient as the demand for Gojek rides is high and always there.

Comments from fellow drivers

Fellow drivers have taken to Facebook to comment on Brian’s driving routine.

Most of the comments were sarcastic and in disbelief even though they might have meant it as a joke.

Some commented that the way he drives is a ticket to being hospitalized and some said that doing so will mean that the sacrifice of family time will be a lot.

One commented that the rest were just being jealous of Brian’s earnings and said that he does not deserve to be labeled a slave just because he is fighting for his own rice bowl.

Another called for positive thinking instead of thinking negatively.

Whatever it is, what Brian does is still a decent living and if he is comfortable and alright with it then we ought to respect his wishes.

After all, we do not know what is going on behind why he chose to stick to this routine.

370 NEW CASES REPORTED ON 12 DECEMBER 2021, 5 DEATHS

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported a total of 370 new cases on 12 December 2021 with a total of 5 fatalities.

Case details

Of the 370 new cases, 355 cases belonged to the local community and four cases belonged to the foreign worker domitorites.

The remaining 11 are imported cases.

Lowest since Sept 8

The cases reported today is the lowest since 8 September 2021, where 349 cases were reported.

Weekly infection growth rate

The weekly infection growth rate is now at 0.61, 0.01 less than what was reported on Saturday when it was at 0.62.

This rate refers to the ratio of community cases of the past week as compared to the week before.

The growth rate has been reported to remain under 1 since 13 November 2021, which indicates that cases are falling.

Total toll

The four fatalities today brings the total death toll in Singapore to 794 and the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic is now at 273,362.

VEHICLE MAKES ILLEGAL U-TURN, CAUSING MOTORBIKE TO CRASH & FALL

A video showing an accident which reportedly happened today (12 Dec) at about 1109 hours along Tampines Walk has been seen on social media.

The accident was between a Honda Shuttle bearing the number plate of SLV6250Y and a motorbike which the footage of the accident was seen from.

Accident details

A closer look at the footage shows that the motorbike was travelling behind the Honda Shuttle just minding his own business when the Honda Shuttle suddenly made an abrupt right turn without signaling its intention.

To add insult to injury, the U-turn was made illegally.

It resulted in the motorbike crashing into the vehicle as there was no way the motorcyclist could avoid hitting the vehicle.

Upon impact, the footage showed that the motorbike fell onto the road.

Road Traffic Act

Under the Road Traffic Act, Chapter 276 Section 140 subsection 13 (1),

Drivers or Riders of any vehicles are not allowed to make U-turns at any road intersections, junctions or any openings in a road divider unless the driver or rider is permitted to do so by a road sign.

Yishun South NPC has recently shared a post on their Facebook page about the recent routine checks that they did together with Police officers from the Secret Societies Branch (SSB) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Photos of the joint checks were also uploaded together with the post on Facebook.

Reminded the public to stay away from secret societies

As part of the routine checks, Police officers from both Yishun South NPC and SSB reminded members of the public to stay away from activities related to secret societies.

They were also urged to report any information of people engaging in activities of an unlawful nature to the Police immediately.

Informants identities will be confidential

The post ended with Yishun South NPC assuring that the identities of anyone who give information about unlawful activities to the Police will be kept confidential.

Any submission of criminal activities can be done via the Police’s i-Witness portal here or they may also call the Police hotline at 1800 255 000.

CYCLIST BEATS RED LIGHT, ALMOST GOT RUN OVER BY CAR & BECOME HUNGRY GHOST

A video emerged online showing a female cyclist jaywalking (or jay-cycling) across the road when the traffic light was red.

She almost got run over by a car, but thankfully the driver stopped in time and she escaped unscathed.

The video begins with the car driving along the road somewhere in Tampines, before passing through a traffic junction below the TPE Flyover from Tampines Avenue 7.

The traffic light was green in favour of the vehicle at the time.

A female cyclist was seen riding her bike halfway across the road when the car then came to a stop to avoid a collision.

The errant cyclist then continued on her merry way as if nothing had happened.

Potential penalties

Cyclists who fail to conform to traffic lights signals are liable for a fine of up to $1,000 for first-time offenders and/or a jail term of up to 3 months.

Repeat offenders face a fine of up to $2,000 and/or a jail term of up to 6 months.

A netizen shared how his wife was having porridge and found a sharp fragment inside, scratching the inside of her mouth – he immediately contacted the stall to notify them of his find.

According to Mothership, he had ordered a sliced beef porridge on 11 December at around 9 am from Mui Kee Express at Cluny Food Court located at the Botanic Gardens.

He said that he wasn’t sure if his wife had swallowed any smaller pieces of the fragment before it was discovered and that she only discovered it as she was chewing on a piece of beef before swallowing.

He described how things could have been unimaginable had she swallowed the fragment, which appeared quite sharp.

The incident has also been reported to the Singapore Food Agency.

Eatery responds

The man then revealed that Mui Kee contacted him and provided a refund, and he was informed that there were no glass objects in the kitchen.

They suspected that the sharp object was from a broken plastic container but was unable to confirm anything.

Mui Kee said that they are investigating the incident and preliminary findings indicate that it could have been from one of their storage containers that broke.

They described the incident as being “isolated” and have given the customer a $100 voucher as well.
