A 41 y.o woman who was suffering from mental disorders pleaded guilty in court today (15 Oct) to three counts of voluntary causing hurt to her maid as well as ill treatment of a child.
She physically abused her maid by choking her with a towel and also pressed a hot lighter on her own daughter.
It started in December 2017 when she slapped her maid twice in the face. The maid was then further abused almost every other day whenever she made mistakes such as not finishing her assigned tasks or for oversleeping.
The maid was given the expectation to finish up her assigned chores by the time the woman woke up.
In 2018, the woman woke up to find that her maid did not complete her cleaning of the living room.
Angered by it, she verbally scolded her and abused her physically by slapping and kicking her.
She then grabbed her by the hair and pushed her head against the wall before rolling a towel and wrapping it around the maid’s neck which choked her.
The maid cried out and struggled to breathe and was eventually released by the woman.
In a third incident where the woman saw her maid dozing off for a while at 5.15am, she kicked her which caused her to fall inside the toilet.
The maid finally decided that the abuse that she received was enough and she escaped through a window when her employers were inside their room.
She was found by a member of the public who called the police and took her to the hospital as she was suffering from multiple bruises and scratches over her body.
In October 2019, the accused started abusing her own daughter.
The 9 y.o girl at that time was preparing for her upcoming examinations when the accused asked her to vacuum the floor.
However, the girl replied that she wants to finish up her preparations first which enraged her mother enough to use the metal tip of a heated lighter to press it on her forearm.
When asked by her husband, she claimed that she was only using the lighter to scare her daughter as she has seen her daughter playing with the lighter and did not know that the metal tip was hot.
The accused was finally referred to a psychiatrist at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and was diagnosed with major depressive disorder, obsessive control disorder as well as some psychotic symptoms.
The psychiatrist also said that her mental illness played a part in her committing the offences.
The accused has not been sentenced by the judge, who asked for time to review the findings and the submissions from the prosecution.

Gary Joseph Bates Holland, a 37-year-old Briton who was a former teacher at One World International School, pleaded guilty to using abusive language on a public servant and breaching Covid-19 measures.
He was sentenced to a fine of $4,000 on 14 October for using vulgar language on a police officer while drunk.
Two other charges were taken into consideration during his sentencing, namely:
On 26 June 2020, the police were informed about 2 drunk persons causing trouble near Jurong Point.
Sergeant Muhammad Nasri Mustafa and Sergeant Chua Kian Tiong were deployed to the scene and arrived in about 4 minutes.
They saw Holland being spoken to by the mall’s security.
The two officers also noticed that Holland was not wearing a face mask at the time and asked him about it, to which he replied that he didn’t know where it was.
Holland then threatened to kick the officers if they didn’t stay away, as they were trying to approach him.
He (Holland) said that he would “take them down” if they touched him, before using vulgarities on Sergeant Nasri when asked for his IC.
He then uttered: “You police can’t do anything to me”.
Holland then looked away for a moment when Sergeant Nasri then pinned him down while Sergeant Chua arrested him.
As he was being arrested, Holland continued to shout vulgarities and screamed: “You can’t arrest me!”
Sean Lee Yang, 27-years-old, was sentenced on 14 October to 6 months imprisonment after being charged with installing a pinhole camera to film guys inside a gym toilet, and for destroying evidences meant to be used in court.
The unemployed NUS graduate had disguised a pinhole camera as a hook inside a men’s toilet at Anytime Fitness, a gym located at Hillview Rise.
He wanted to secretly film men peeing inside the toilet.
Lee bought a spy camera from Lazada in August 2020 and intended to use it to secretly film men peeing to satisfy his fetish.
His modus operandi included going to the gym during differing timings, sometimes about 3 times a week to deploy the camera, planting it below the dryer and directed it towards the urinals.
He would then use the gym to work out before retrieving the camera and reviewing the footage, retaining the ones that captured genitals.
He would then watch the videos for his own pleasure.
A gym cleaner grew suspicious on 10 August 2020 and discovered the camera, placing it inside the gym staff office.
Lee then waited for the coast to be clear before entering the office to steal the camera before leaving the scene.
Scared that the videos would be used against him, he then discarded the camera and memory card into a rubbish chute near his home.
But his actions were caught on the gym’s CCTV.

Soh Rui Yong, Singapore’s infamous marathoner, has recently posted his Facebook comparing his lawsuit to the lawsuit between instagram page @sgcickenrice and youtube channel, Night Owl Cinematics (NOC).
Netizens in the comment section have apparently started to KPKB, calling him out for using an unrelated case to bring himself back to the spotlight, and also for self bragging.
Some netizens have however backed him up and recognised what he has done for the local sports scene.
Irregardless of what their views are, their saga continues.

A video emerged online showing a group of 3 boys trying to fight and push a large girl.
They were seen pushing her with all of their might but she barely moved an inch.
The incident didn’t happen in Singapore.

The matrep filming the video was also heard shouting:

A netizen has recently uploaded a video of his Corgi and her puppies on his Tiktok. This video is not taken in Singapore and its is only a parody.
The video first started showing the owner taking different seasonings and pouring it into the pail where the litter of puppies are lying.
The mother Corgi leaps on the owner and looks on as he is continuously putting the seasoning on the puppies with the playful intention of cooking them.
We would expect the Corgi mum to protect her babies but what happens next is hilarious, as the Corgi mum runs to a bottle of sauce on the floor, picks it up and passes it to the owner seemingly approving of his decision to cook her babies.

According to Shin Min Daily News, 38 y.o Evelyn Hoi recently passed on after fighting against for a few months against stage 4 lung cancer.
Her husband, Royston Lim, 41 told reporters from Shin Min Daily News that Hoi first started experiencing chest pains in June, and was subsequently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.
This was despite the fact that Hoi was never a drinker or a smoker, and had led a ‘fairly regular life’.
Even though she received treatment, her condition worsened quite quickly.
Hoi then planned her own funeral in accordance to her wishes and her likings about 10 days before she passed on.
Hoi’s sister also spoked to Shin Min reporters and told them that Hoi has always been someone who was generous, enjoys giving and seeing others happy.
Thus she planned her own funeral to be a happy occasion instead.
This included giving out gummy bear candies to attendees of her wake and 200 TOTO tickets to bring them good luck.
The wake was also decorated with Hoi’s favourites in life, such as Bubble tea.
On top of planning for the funeral wake itself, Hoi had also planned to give out her branded bags and possessions to her family and friends to be kept as a memento of her.
Hoi had also handwritten letters to her immediate family members and her husband about six hours before her death despite suffering from pain.
She requested everyone to only read the letters after she had passed on.
Lim added that marrying Hoi has been the luckiest thing that could ever happen to him and that Hoi’s positivity even at her darkest hour also impressed the medical staff who were looking after her.
He also shared that Hoi loved to travel and her only regret in life was not being able to travel to countries like Thailand and Europe due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Food and bubble tea from I-Love-Taimei 我爱台妹 has always been consistent. But just yesterday my lips felt a sharp cut pain upon trying to drink from the straw.
My reaction was fast enough to withdraw myself away though it’s enough to give me some cold sweat because I was that close to cutting my lips. Just hoping they can look into the quality of their straws. It would have been a bloodied mess if drinks are given to kids or people who are excited with their bubble tea.
