SINGAPOREAN FACE RACISM IN ITALY PISA AIRPORT. (VIDEO)

This was how we Asian were treated at the Pisa Airport Tax Refund office today in Italy, just bcos our skin color is different? We spent good money there and yet were treated 2nd class. Never will my hubby & I to step onto Italy soil again. I PUI! Better to spent my money elsewhere.

Friends, pls feel free to share this post to tell the story how “well” we were treated by the Italian police and bulldozed out of the queue by the Russians.

VENDING MACHINE THAT DISTRIBUTES $50 FOR $3, STUNT GONE WRONG OR SHOWS STATE OF SINGAPOREANS?

0

You have seen the videos of people pushing the vending machine in hopes of getting an immediate profit of $47 on the streets. But is there a hidden story behind all this?

Photos and videos emerging online shows that hundreds of people queued (if you want to call that a queue.) up in hopes of earning some quick money from a vending machine. From the sources, you can say people of all ages, old and young, all hoping to earn some quick bucks.

But does this show another side of Singapore? Do we have an unquenchable thirst for cash? Or do we require a lot of money to survive in this tiny island?

With the recent announcement of an increment in tax in every sector, it may seem that people feel that Singapore is going to be an expensive place to live in the near future, more expensive than it currently is now. You can hear people of the older generations saying that the upcoming generations will have it rough. You hear younger generations complaining that their pay is not sufficient to survive.

Asking around the streets, NSFs are earning more than those who have served but they complained that it is not enough. The main complaint would be food and monthly bills. The pioneer generations are reminiscing about the old days where $50 can get you a trolley full of items back then as compared to maybe a few days of groceries now. Even we miss eating chicken rice for $2 to $2,50.

What are your thoughts? Do you feel that there is an imbalance between rising daily costs and the current pay? Or is it that we are greedy?

STARTING JULY 1ST, IT WILL COST MORE TO LEAVE SINGAPORE VIA FLIGHT!

0

They say the price increase is to help with the funding of Terminal 5, but let us ask the real question. Do we really need another airport in Singapore?

Singapore has been a favourite among the world to transit. Ask any of your foreign friends and they say the best place to transit is in Singapore. But for us Singaporeans who would like to experience the ‘joy’ of going into the waiting area of Singapore’s airport, we would soon have to pay $47.30 starting July 1st. This is an increment of $13.30, from $34 originally.

The price increase will not stop there. Every subsequent year will be increased by $2.50. That is to say, in 2019, the price will be increased to $49.80, then will be increased to a further $52.30 in 2020 and so on.

With Singapore aiming to retain that number one spot in the world as ‘best airport in the world,’ how much would it hurt the pockets of Singaporeans who would like to travel abroad. With Singapore voted as the most boring place to be in, we’ve figured that people would like to travel the world to see more sights.

Does this increment affect you? Do you think that this matter could be handled better?

The General Paper Study Guide for reference by past student!

0

I took general paper and while preparing for it I was just reading collections of articles dated up to 5 – 10 years back. So now as someone who’s “wiser”, here’s my recommendation:

Just do the current affairs question.

Current affairs is alive today. It’s never a better time to read about it with Trump and the fake news and the awakening of the public. So what are the broad topics in current affairs?

  • Arts & Culture (film, music, tv, netflix)
  • The Economy (income inequality, globalisation, consumerism)
  • Nationalism (immigration, conscription, laws)
  • Healthcare (Insurance, Subsidies)
  • Housing (affordability)
  • Media (biases), New Media (narcissism, censorship)
  • The Environment (Paris accords, coal, renewable energy, waste in oceans, recycling)
  • Business (Profits, ethics)
  • Science & Technology (cancer research, string theory, colonisation)
  • Foreign affairs (wars, olympics, UN, diplomatic relationships)

If you’re adventurous – Law (criminal justice, law enforcement) If you look at the past 3 years papers, there are at least a few current affairs questions:

2017

  • Can the use of animals for scientific research ever be justified?
  • To what extent are people judged more by their physical appearances than by their abilities?
  • Assess the view that attempts to control climate change can never be truly effective.

2016

  • Considering the money involved, should developing countries be allowed to host major sporting events?
  • ‘Human need, rather than profit, should always be the main concern of scientific research.’ Discuss.
  • Evaluate the claim that equality of opportunity for females is a desirable, but unrealistic, goal.
  • Assess the view that most natural disasters are the result of human activity.

2015

  • How far is it possible for one country to forgive another for its past actions?
  • How effectively is public health promoted and managed in your country?
  • Should there be any controls over the production of energy when the need for it is so great?

Granted, some questions were in the past when current affairs is still not as lively but hey, we are spotting this year’s questions right?

happy reading!

70 years old mother delivering meals to widowed daughter just to make sure she eats!

A 70-year-old mother has been delivering meals to her widowed daughter relatively consistently for as far back as three years,

As far back as the death of her significant other, the 40 or more year-old daughter has not left home.

The elderly lady takes 60 minutes in length travel by transport from Toa Payoh to Bedok Reservoir, where she would influence her daughter to open her door so as to eat.

Once in a while, she would quarrel and argue for two hours before the door would open.

All this was done  to ensure she eats her meals
