OFFICIAL : SINGAPORE TO EXIT CIRCUIT BREAKER ON JUNE 1

Singapore will end the circuit breaker on June 1, with measures to be progressively lifted in various stages.

As the risk of a resurgence of the corona virus among the community is still considered high, the Government will first resume economic activities that do not pose a high risk of transmission in the first phase, which is announced by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Ministry of Trade and Industry.

“Those who have been working from home so far should continue to do so, and employees should go to the office only where demonstrably necessary,” they said.

After the announcement of the lifting of the circuit breaker measure, government authorities have stated there the rise in new community cases may rise.

Hairdressers and barbers will be allowed to resume all services, beyond just basic haircut services. Furthermore, all home-based businesses that operate using a delivery or collection model will also be allowed to resume.

Other services which would be allowed to open includes motor vehicle servicing, aircon servicing, printing, basic pet services, school bookshops and retail shops selling school uniforms.

Sad to say, the majority of retail outlets and other personal services will however not reopen in Phase One. F&B outlets will continue to be closed for in house dining.

“Everyone should continue to leave home only for essential activities, and should wear a mask when doing so. As seniors are a particularly vulnerable group, they should continue to stay at home as much as possible,” the authorities said.

Visiting of parents and grandparents will be allowed which enables families to spend quality time together. Sadly, siblings will still not be allowed to visit each other.

Pre-schools will gradually reopen from Jun 2 and this would also include students from graduating cohorts in the primary and secondary levels. Colleges will arrange to have half of their students back in school at any one time.

Healthcare services such as specialist outpatient services, medical procedures and chronic disease management will resume as well.

YOUNG PUNKS CHALLENGING CIRCUIT BREAKER RULES

Singapore is going into the last 2 weeks of the circuit breaker, many of us had stayed home during this period of time. However, for some, they see these measures like a joke.

In recent days, a photo of 2 young girls taking a photo together without wearing a mask was circulating on social media. In her post, she had even indicated a caption that says “F**K THE FINE”.

These can be seen as though they are challenging the law. The circuit breaker measures are in place to protect ourselves from getting infected by the COVID-19. Apparently, the girls were not taking it seriously and make a fool of themselves.

According to the law, anyone who is caught not wearing a mask will get a fine of $300 and $1000 for repeat offenders.

ESSO RAISE PUMP PRICE BY 3 CENTS A LITRE

With fuel prices at a very low price, it is evident that petrol prices should be low. But the actual price of petrol in Singapore proves otherwise.

Fuel prices hit an all-time low and petrol companies were slow to ‘react’ to the new prices.

But Esso increases their price by 3 cents per litre, shortly after fuel prices gone up from $19.30 to US$35.50. The increase of 3 cents was ‘quick to react’, it only took them one week.

Where is the fair play?

This is their new price

  • 92 Octane – $1.98/L
  • 95 Octane – $2.02/L
  • 98 Octane – $2.39/L

Meanwhile, our neighbours in Malaysia announced that are not raising transport fares as fuel prices are TOO LOW.

NON S’POREAN INVESTIGATED BY SPF FOR ROBERTSON QUAY GATHERING

The internet went crazy when there was big crowd drinking and having their fun time at Robertson Quay despite the circuit breaker.

Shortly after the incident went viral, the authorities have talked action against them

According to a Facebook post by Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Masagos Zulkifli

Some photos of crowds along Robertson Quay have been circulating this past weekend. The Circuit Breaker can only work when everybody plays their part. We will enforce against anybody found breaching safe distancing measures. The Singapore Police Force have traced a number of the individuals who gathered in the area. These persons are non-Singaporeans, and are currently under police investigation.

Urban Redevelopment Authority officers have been patrolling the area. Most of the operators and individuals are complying with safe distancing measures. But some restaurants were selling take-away alcohol, which had contributed to individuals gathering around these premises. URA issued a written direction to these restaurants on 17 May to immediately stop selling take-away alcohol. URA will continue to monitor the area with the SPF to ensure compliance by operators and individuals. Enforcement action will be taken against business operators and individuals found to be in breach of safe distancing measures.

We urge everyone to abide by both the letter and spirit of the law to contain COVID-19. If you see any offenders, please don’t just take photos for a posting. Report it through the #OneService app with specific details and photos.

The Circuit Breaker has been ongoing for almost 6 weeks. We have about 2 more weeks to go. We are seeing progress from our collective efforts. As of 17 May 2020, the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of 8 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 3 per day in the past week.

However, the fight against COVID-19 is far from over. Countries around the world are racing to curb a second wave of infections. We must stay cautious and resilient to keep our loved ones and Singapore safe. Let us continue to stay home as far as possible. Remember to observe safe distancing and wear a mask if you need to leave your home.
