INHUMANE OWNERS “EXECUTES” DOG DUE TO INCONVENIENCE

A married couple puts their adopted dog to sleep as they were “unsuccessful in rehoming their dog”.

Director of Exclusively Mongrels Limited (A CHARITY THAT HELPS HOMELESS DOGS), said in a Facebook post:

Today, we received a tragic news.

Loki, a pup that we rehomed 2.5 yrs ago had been put to sleep by his humans. A perfectly healthy dog was put down. He would have been 3 yrs old in 2 months’ time.

The reasons:
‘He bit a girl the other day. And last week I was bitten too…’

‘We wouldn’t want to risk it with the baby and everything..’

‘And we tried rehoming him but not successful ..’

The humans have just had a baby last month. Isn’t it ironic that they brought a life to the world but decided to end another?

Why didn’t you consider engaging a dog trainer in the past 9 months to prepare Loki and you for the arrival of the baby?

You could have at least returned Loki back to us. We would have done our best to find him a new home. After all, that was the promise we gave him when we rescued him.

Just like that, you have unilaterally destroyed the meaning of euthanasia, which essentially means “a good death”. Did an apparently happy and healthy dog who perhaps simply nipped at someone in play deserve death?

Euthanasia is used as an ETHICAL MEANS to preempt suffering, it is NOT an indiscriminate death sentence.

Today you have truly realised the phrase “die like a dog” for Loki, for he has met the most miserable of ends.

I’m sorry Loki. I was the person who brought you to your killers. I’m sorry for choosing a wrong home for you. I’m sorry you had to die through no fault of yours You were mercilessly EXECUTED.

Loki’s owners, if you are reading this, one day your child is going to ask you, as all children do, if she can have a dog.
And you will remember Loki.
And then you will not be able to look her in her eyes and tell her that you executed him in cold blood because of her.
I hope you live with that guilt each time she asks for a pet.
A pet whom you senselessly murdered.
And please do not ever get that dog that she asks for.

Cos you are not worthy of a dog.

13 CORONA CASES DETECTED THROUGH RANDOM TESTING AT POLYCLINICS AND GPs

13 cases of the Corona Virus have been detected up over the period three months, through random routine testing on patient’s samples with influenza-like symptoms at GPs and polyclinics.

The Sentinel Surveillance Programme

This “random testing” is a public health surveillance programme called the sentinel surveillance programme which has been ongoing since 2007. This programme is being practiced as a solution to monitor the spread of COVID-19 in the local community.

Health Minister Gan Kim Yong stated “The idea is to pick up cases that otherwise would not have not been detected.”

“Under the sentinel surveillance programme, about 300 to 600 samples are tested monthly for common respiratory viruses, including influenza viruses”, said MOH.

MOH further stated that : “There is no evidence of widespread community transmission. Contact tracing is carried out for all confirmed cases.”

COMPANIES USING DIRTY TACTICS TO PAY LESSER OVERTIME WAGE

A story was shared on Reddit Singapore, the thread described how her aunt had encountered an unfortunate incident with a company that is using dirty tactics to pay their staff lower overtime wage.

Here is the story

My unemployed aunt recently found a hiring ad online, its a “packer” job in a food processing factory, so she applied for it since its CB period now, and many companies have stopped hiring for the moment.

The ad promised a salary of 1.7k excluding OT and other allowances. 1.7k for a factory job, why not?

After my aunt was offered, she was told that the 1.7k consisted of $700 Basic Salary + $1k “Fixed Allowance”. We were quite perplexed as to why they’d want to divide the salary into two different components.

Turns out, this is a very smart tactic used to cut down on OT cost. I did some math, and here’s what I found

When your basic is 1.7, your hourly rate is $8.9, so OT rate at 1.5 times is arnd 13.35.

But when you break it down into 700 + 1000, your hourly rate is based on the 700 basic. So in this case the OT rate at 1.5x became 5.5 dollars per hour!

Then when you OT a lot, the difference adds up. So if you OT 30 hours in that month, using 1.7k base will give you 2.1k+ before CPF per month. But when you use 700 base, it gives only 1.8k… a difference of almost 300 dollars!

In the end, we advised her against taking up the offer and got her to try others. To me, this is just too smart.

NURSES DANCING TO COFFIN DANCERS SONG WHILE CARRYING BODYBAG WITH COVID-19 LABEL

A Tiktok video had gone viral featuring 4 nurses dancing to the recent popular hit the coffin dancer song. The video is believed to have been shot in a hospital located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The nurses involved had yet to be identified and little do we know if the “body” in the bodybag is real.

This had sparked a debate on social media if such behaviour is acceptable given the form of professions these nurses are in. Some feel that topics on lives and death should be respected instead of treating it as humour in a time of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

however, Some netizen does show their support to the nurse stating that nurses should get and need some downtime and fun while at work. They can’t be always hard and serious at work. They should learn how to relax for their mental wellbeing, especially at this stressful period when COVID-19 is still ongoing
