MAN ARRESTED AFTER STEALING $12,000 WORTH OF MOBILE PHONES AT CLEMENTI

According to the media release, The mobile phone shop only uses wooden boards to cover the entry of the mobile shop. A man walks in straight and ignores the CCTV and steal mobile phones and accessories worth more than $12,000.

The theft occurred at 5 am on the 1st of May 2020 at an open cell phone stall below the HDB Block 727 at Clementi West Street 2.

The police issued a statement that after receiving the report, the investigation was carried out and The police officers of Clementi Police Station quickly confirmed the identity of the suspect through the on-site investigation and review of the CCTV.

The man was arrested on the same day, a 39-year-old man was arrested. All stolen merchandise was recovered.

According to the charge, the defendant Lin Chunliang (39 years old) was charged in court.

He stole a total of 28 items including mobile phones, chargers and computers with a total value of $12,198. Once guilty, he will be sentenced to up to three years in prison and face fines.

3RD HOUSEKEEPER WORKING AT NUH TESTED POSITIVE FOR THE CORONAVIRUS

According to the latest media release from the Ministry of Health, another staff working in the public health sector was tested positive for the Coronavirus.

The cases were announced by the Ministry of Health on the 2nd of May 2020. This is the 3rd housekeeper that has been tested positive for the Coronavirus.

On the 1st of May 2 housekeepers working at NUH has been tested positive for COVID-19.

Details

Case 17267 is a 27-year-old male Malaysian national who has no recent travel history to affected countries or regions. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 30 April, and is currently warded at National University Hospital (NUH).

8. He is employed as a housekeeper at NUH but had not gone to work since onset of symptoms.

COVID-19: 2 MORE PEOPLE DEAD, 5 MORE CLUSTERS, 447 NEW CASES IN SINGAPORE

According to the Ministry of Health, there are two more death cases.

One died from complications from COVID-19 while the other death is under investigations.

447 cases, bringing Singapore total to 17,548.

2 Deaths Case (Total at 17)

76-year-old Singaporean ha died from complications due to the coronavirus on 1st May 2020. He was warded at Changi General Hospital.

47-year-old Bangladeshi worker died on 1 May 2020, he was tested positive for Coronavirus AFTER his death.

The authorities are investigating the cause of death

SCAMMER POSING AS SINGAPORE POLICE ASKING FOR CREDIT CARD NUMBER

A video has gone viral after a Whatsapp call that originated with a number +92 and a profile picture of the Singapore Police Force.

The scammer asked for his 16 digit card number.

+92 is a number from Pakistan

BUBBLE TEA SHOPS THAT ARE CLOSED WILL NOT COME BACK ON THE 5TH MAY

F&B outlets need to be notified that they are allowed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) in order to continue operating their stalls.

According to Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong

Shops that are notified by the authorities are allowed to continue operations, he added that shops should not placed notices and state that the shop will reopen on the 5th of May as it might cause confusion.

Shops not allowed to operate unless notified by authorities

This includes bubble tea shops as they are considered non-essential services.

MTI made an announcement earlier that some F & B shops will be allowed to operate and open on the 5th of May. However, Wong said that these shops should be closed, at least until the 12 May 2020.

Mr Wong Said:

“I’m not sure why some of them have gone ahead without that notification. It may well be that they are hoping that things will be lifted after May 4, because we did say that we will review after May 4. But we are not opening up after May 4 at all, as you can see from the announcement today,”

Shanmugen: FAKE ACCOUNT POST “APU NE NEH” UNDER POLICE INVESTIGATION

The fake twitter account of a “Chinese women” who made discriminatory remarks against Indian workers online was neither female nor Chinese, and the authorities will take action against him.

Shanmugen posted a post on social media Facebook today (2nd) that a social media account called “sharonliew86” issued many discriminatory remarks against Indian workers a few weeks ago, including referring to the 2019 coronavirus as “apuneneh”

The police earlier revealed that they were investigating men who offended Indian guest workers through this social media account. Shanmugam said that the police investigation found that it was not the woman named “Sharon Liew” who made the remarks. He was not only a man. And it is not Chinese.

Shanmugam pointed out that the man deliberately incites anger, dissatisfaction and ethnic tension, and the authorities will take action against him.

COVID-19: 447 MORE CASES, SINGAPORE TOTAL CASES AT 17,548

According to MOH, 447 more people have been tested positive for the Coronavirus as of 12 PM 2 May 2020.

This brings the total cases to 17,548.

Most of the patients are work permit holders who reside in the dormitory.

Only Four Singaporeans and permanent residents among Saturday’s cases.

As the cases start to reduce, some businesses will be allowed to resume operation

BARBERS, HOME BASED BUSINESS TO RESUME FROM 12 MAY 2020, EASING OF CB

According to a press conference by Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong announced in a virtual press conference on Saturday, May 2, some activities will resume their activities as community cases are dropping.

Here is the list of activities

  • Manufacturing and onsite preparation of all food, including cakes and confectionery, ice cream, cocoa, chocolate and chocolate products
  • Retail outlets of food, including cakes and confectionery, packaged snacks and desserts, may be open for takeaway and delivery only;
  • Home-based food businesses may operate, but only for delivery or collection. Delivery and collection of food orders should be done in a safe and contactless manner, by appointment so that it can be spaced out, and there is no bunching of people.
  • Retail laundry services
  • Barbers and hairdressers, for basic haircut services
  • Retail of pet supplies.

School is coming back for students

Students will start in batches of small groups and return to school, priority will be given to students who are taking final exams such as N,O levels.

Workplaces will slowly open

Lawrence Wong said:

“safe distancing and a whole range of safe management practices that are critical to prevent the spread of the virus within the work premises”.

SOMEONE POURED KEROSENE AND COFFEE ON COMMUNITY CAT AT REDHILL

According to a Facebook page, that primarily cares for cats in Redhill, a cat has been allegedly abused.

The location is at Redhill Close Blk 82, the incident happened yesterday (1st of May 2020) around 6 – 10 AM

“Dear all, just a quick note. This is the cat at Redhill close blk 82 someone poured kerosene on her last week. Few days ago, aunt mok found someone poured coffee on her. It probably happened between 6-10am. Please help to keep a lookout if you stat around the area.”

“Also if you feed the cats, please ensure that you clean up. This leftover food is from blk 82-83. In this period of time there are residents who are pretty stressed/worried and will blame the cats for making the place dirty or yell at/scold our regular cat feeders who are feeding responsibly. Thank you.”
