“Last night a woman was beaten up in Groove, Seomyeon, Busan.
Myself, Gabrielle, and some of her Indonesian friends went to groove in Seomyeon at about 23:00. When we got to the front to get our IDs checked Gabrielle was talking to me and the bouncer got irritated by this and threw her ID card on the floor.
As she was picking it up she asked him in Korean if he knew that he was being rude, and he then indicated to her to his friend and said 씨발 (this is incredibly rude in Korean). She heard him and incredulously repeated what he said and then he shouted at her to get out (in Korean) and started man handling her.
He was pushing Gabrielle then we both nearly fell down the stairs. We all started shouting at him and then one of her friends got involved and pushed him away because he was pushing Gabrielle. This (retracted) then proceeded to punch this poor woman in the mouth several times before I could get in between them and get her away from him. She was bleeding profusely almost instantaneously.
His punches tore up her lip immediately and blood began gushing everywhere, most of her friends (and me) were covered in her blood. We looked like we had been attacked because there were blood stains all over our clothes. We eventually got her downstairs and called the police on my phone and they thankfully arrived quickly.
The poor girl was shrieking from the injustice and the pain. The policemen went upstairs and took the man into custody but most of the people there are not hopeful that she will get justice because
1. She is a foreigner and he is Korean.
2. There was no CCTV footage.
3. The only real witnesses (myself and a few others) are foreigners and were with the victim so we are biased. For some reason none of the other Koreans in the line were asked to be witnesses… (side eye)
The thing that makes me so angry is that while the police were taking my statement his friend was laughing. He and his friend showed no remorse. He didn’t even have the decency to beg for forgiveness.
The policemen were very prompt and they were very understanding and tried their best to help settle the situation. Kudos to them.
There were some kind Korean people who saw the girl sitting in the road bleeding and someone bought some wet wipes and water and another one kept calling the police to ensure they arrived.
Gabrielle and I went to two different hospitals trying to find her friend and her friend needs stitches on her lip to close it up. Last time we saw her she was getting a CT scan to assess for any abnormalities.
Now, how could something like this happen with such a small provocation. I believe that this all began because of this f**king outdated, misogynistic and pathetic belief that men are superior to women. This idea is endemic in many societies (especially in Korea). This altercation happened because within this way of thinking, if woman doesn’t follow protocols and by doing so disrespects a man then she needs to be checked and punished. All Gabrielle did was not focus on the man as he was checking her card. I have done this so many times and no one ever threw my card on the floor. I am a male and thus I am seen as more of an equal. So I cannot embarrass a man’s ego as much as a woman can.
Furthermore, being a white foreigner is unquestionably more influential than being a foreigner who doesn’t look white or is from another Asian country. I do not mean to say that I think I am better or that white people are better but it is undeniable that we receive subtle benefits because of our race. Gabrielle and her friends are Indonesian and were treated as if they were sub-human. I was in between the two while he was hitting her and I was not hit once. Had it been a Korean woman, or a white woman, then I am sure this would not have escalated as quickly as it had.
The fact that this man felt that he had the right to hurt a woman who disrespected him and the way his friends encouraged this thinking by laughing at this woman’s pain is the reason why [redacted]. I have seen this in South Africa and I have seen this in Korea. I saw a guy in my high school repeatedly slap his girlfriend because she kept asking him difficult questions. This mentality that a woman who resists must be disciplined is so archaic and ridiculous.
We need to teach men everywhere to become better than this…”
A pregnant mother on Aug 30 committed suicide after being unable to take the pain while going into labour. It is reported by China Press that this happened at a hospital in Yulin China.
As per requested by Ma to be warded in hospital last Wed who is the pregnant as her due date was coming near.
The doctors advised her to opt for C-section after reviewing about her condition. It was recommended as it could minimise the risk to go into labour difficulties. Despite Ma’s family being well-aware of her condition the family refused to let go through the surgery.
As Ma could take the pain anymore, at around 8pm she jumped to her death from the fifth floor of hospital building. Efforts to save her by the doctors were all gone to the drain.

I went with my friend to donate some food stuff with the boys brigade, send some food stuff to the needy families. The food bag includes: cooking oil, rice, sugar and salt. The most shocking thing is that one of the family I went to is really those you see already will drop tears on the spot.
Son mental block and slight retard.Father have stroke and paralysed waist down cannot work and slight eye sight problems and using hearing aid.Wife deaf and mute, still attempting to mutter thank you when we present the food to the family.
I was like almost broke into tears then my friend noticed and pulled me out.
He told me, this is life. What we might not see daily don’t means its not happening. Grabbing me out of the house is actually respecting them, they’re needy family but they also human. Don’t let them see you tearing if not they also might feel offended.
They need our help but don’t take it as they are some pathetic beings.
We’re lucky we have a shelter when born, food during our baby stage, education while we were growing and jobs when we stepped into society. But there’re some who don’t have all these.
That’s y I really think we hobbyist are somehow lucky. We can buy fishes buy tanks. But when there are people who can’t even placed a proper meal for their family on a daily basis.
Garment only worried about their pocket not filled enough, increasing bus fare, gst, adjusting their pay but they forgotten there are people who need a lot more help out there.
If yearly the budget review for the garment draw out a portion for those in need maybe won’t have some much needy family around.
Bro, include me in your next trip. I would like to extend my service to them too.
Maybe can ask my church friends to extend their charity too.
Yesterday, I started off with shock and surprise to have monkey at my estate. I was joking around got funny “Monkey business” happening.
Not till only when I witness how this monkey snatch people bottle, food, drinks and near attack to some children (without the kids or adults provoking or playing with the monkey), and how this monkey can climb so fast upwards almost enter resident’s house.
Thats scary!
Although I have quit and left RC for good, I still feel is our Community effort and duty to help one another. Called AVA, ACRES, Town Council, Police to alert respectives with photos and videos. Also thankfully, a buddy, Midsean Tan, still in RC was at home. Came down and we run to tell residents close windows and help to ask people stay clear from monkey, together with my wife as well. O well, my wife is still unwell. Hahahaha.
This monkey smart. After called, it escape away and cross bridge to go other estate.
Today, same timing around 5pm, it returns again. This time, climb higher, move faster and even scratch a child’s leg. I even ensure the boy’s safety and make sure accompany him to lift and ask him go home.
I shouted my lungs to ask residents to close windows, even get shouted back why should they close. Hmm. Thankfully another resident shout back got stray monkey. I truly lost my voice since my throat also not very well
Again, alert all agencies, this time AVA came in time to meet the monkey. Monkey smart! Smell or know this guy is from AVA. It climb high up and wait. When got chance, it sneak off and cross bridge again to other estate.
Hmm. Will monkey be back tomorrow?
It is safe that especially when not at home, do close windows, as we do not know who and what will try to come in. And alert fellow neighbors, showing some community spirit to help one another when even small issues like this happen.
The MOST important is:
– Do NOT feed Monkey
– Do NOT engage Monkey
– Do NOT provoke Monkey
– Walk Fast away and maintain eye contact with Monkey
– Do NOT run away from Monkey
– Keep a safe distance away from Monkey
– Carry the child and move to safe distance. Do NOT carry child over Shoulder in case unable to balance
– Should Monkey become aggressive, contact the following:
AVA at 18004761600 and ACRES at 68929821
Sharing some love, some care, some concern, showing the Community spirit, unifying the Community.
Only this way, we can built a cohesive environment, where love is everywhere and anytime.
Hungry ghost month, not just ghosts out and about. Beware of your belongings. Bag nearly got snatched!
Some netizens said : “I am wary of human ghosts then spiritual ghosts. But sometimes spirits too can possess u and this is concerning. When one got possess, others think it is fake.”
while others: “Monkey do monkey snatch, so NEA should ban these activities in the park with there is monkey around those area. Pity for the cleaner to do cleaning.”
Thai woman ran off after receiving the dowries for each wedding. It has been reported in Thailand media that each of the weddings has dowries from 200,000 baht to 500,000 baht.
The last victim did not believe that his wife was the scammer until photos of her started to appear on Facebook warning public to be wary of this woman.
Currently, the Thai police are investigating this incident and even visited the woman’s parents to find out that her parents have also run off with her. She is currently wanted for questioning.
Some backstory: The C151 (oldest rolling stock on the North-South East-West Lines) trains are approaching 30 years of age, and LTA has opened up bidding for trains to replace the existing trains on the NSEWL. The new trains will be called CR151.
All of this is all fine and dandy, until you realise that “Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd., CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co. Ltd., Kawasaki Heavy Industries (Singapore) Pte Ltd. and Singapore CRRC Sifang Heavy Vehicles Service Pte. Ltd. Consortium” is bidding for the CR151 contract.
You may be asking “What’s wrong with this?”. Well, in Singapore, CSR Sifang/CRRC Sifang trains have been known to cause many issues. Not only that, the CRRC Sifang China made trains also have a whole other host of problems, such as battery boxes busting, and faulty STARiS displays (the blinking LED line maps you see), among others. SMRT has even suspected that they were the cause of the major train disruptions in 2011.
With this in mind, you would think that LTA would never choose Kawasaki Heavy Industries and CRRC Sifang again. That’s where you’re wrong!. LTA has picked the consortium not once, but three more times even after knowing about the faults. That’s for the C151B, C151C and CT251 contracts. It is more than likely that they will pick Kawasaki Heavy Industries and CRRC Sifang again.
Let’s look at the other manufacturers. Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles has never had any record in Singapore. Hyundai Rotem has done the refurbishment of the C151 trains. Both Alstom and Bombardier have built trains for MRT lines in Singapore. Alstom for the North-East and Circle Lines and Bombardier for the Downtown Line. Both have created fewer (reported) faults than the Kawasaki Heavy Industries and CRRC Sifang trains. As you can see, Alstom has the best track record in Singapore.
“Where do I come in?” Well, with enough support, we may be able to change LTA’s mind to pick Alstom for the CR151 contract. Remember, CR151 will supply 66 new trains for the MRT, which makes up 30% of the NSEWL. You can start by posting to LTA’s Facebook page saying that you do not wish to have CRRC Sifang picked for contract CR151. You can also get the hashtag #TeamAlstom trending on social media. Lastly, you can sign the change.org petition here!
Thanks for reading this and have a great day ahead!
I’m the victim of this incidence. The video showed here is only part of story when he kept recording me , I told my Daughter to record back for me & speak out, the truth can be justified. On 1st Sep night, after celebrate holiday in restaurant, I was a bit high but not drunk, the staff kindly on call this taxi SH6644K from comfort for us. While I boarded his cab at 11:22pm, I did not know it’s on call by staff of the restaurant, so I told my Daughter that must inform me anything before doing it. I did not scold my Daughter, just normal conversation. He started recording us while driving his car, paid attention to our conversation and suddenly interrupted, ” Don’t scold your Daughter inside my car, you want scold u can go home to scold, get down of my car. I f**k you!”
I replied, I didn’t scold my Daughter, and my Daughter also stand out for me, says ” why u said that to my mum, she didn’t scold me at all, And as driver u should provide service, not interrupt our conversation. ” He says to my Daughter, “you are so stupid ”
After he told us to get down of his car, he stopped at road junction while traffic light turned to red, I quickly opened door & pulled my Daughter out of his car, as he refused to continue service to us. He immediately called police with the fake statement ” drunk women with alcohol smell get down of cab with no reason “!
He kept video us & tell fake story to the officer, so I asked my Daughter to video him & speak out what happened inside the cab. That’s why I mentioned in the video to post on Facebook to let people judge.
It’s typical discrimination case, as he thought I’m the PRC lady, I told him I can exercise the same right as citizen here. Anybody encounter prejudice like me, Will react & fight for the right , nobody is willing to accept bullying in any country.
I ll let my lawyer to handle this incidence, i will be grateful if your page will take down this post ASAP.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia takes note of the reporting by online news portal The Independent SG (theindependent.sg) on the 31st August 2017 regarding a Singaporean man who died following injury sustained from a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) in Johor Bahru. Condolence to the family and friends of the deceased for the demise of this young gentlemen. However, the MOH would like to stress that there were no delay or demand for payment before treatment of this gentleman by Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) Johor Bahru.
In their article, theindependent.sg claimed that the deceased, a 25-year old Singaporean sustained critical injuries following that MVA, and alleged that there was a slow respond time by the ambulance from HSA up to 30 minutes. From the ambulance service records, it was noted that the emergency call was made at 2:57 AM on the 25th August 2017. The ambulance left HSA at 2:59 AM, arrived at the scene at 3:10 AM and departed from the scene with the patient at 3:15 AM. Kudos to the ambulance call services for a very timely response, with despatch time of two (2) minutes and response time of 13 minutes.
In view of his critical condition, the Singaporean man was admitted to the Red Zone upon arrival at the Emergency Department. Immediately, the emergency treatment as per the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) protocol was continued, which was already initiated by the ambulance team earlier. The Emergency Department team also initiated the necessary imaging (primary survey X-rays, CT-scan of brain, cervical and thorax), treatment (including intubation) and referral to the relevant team in a very timely and professional manner, without asking for any deposit since this is an emergency case. This is in line with the MOH policy as per the MOH Secretary General circular dated 4th March 2015 regarding deposit payment for foreigners in MOH hospitals.
In view of the injury to his brain, the patient was referred to Neurosurgery team, and urgent decompressive craniectomy plus removal of clot and intracranial pressure monitoring was planned without demand for any deposit payment. Subsequent to this, the family members arrived, and only then they were requested to make deposit payment as per protocol for foreigner patient; but it is important to note that the emergency imaging and treatments required were not withheld or delayed. However the family members opted for discharge at own risk (AOR discharge) and arranged for admission to a hospital in Singapore after understanding the risk involved of further delaying the surgery.
The MOH urges all relevant parties to be responsible in reporting and further commenting, as releasing inaccurate information and baseless statement can lead to misunderstanding and disrupt the harmony. The MOH has always valued life and does it utmost best to treat any patient, regardless of their background or nationality. This is in line with MOH’s ethos and corporate culture of “Caring, Professionalism and Teamwork”.
