TWO WOMEN FINED, BARRED FROM OWNING ANIMALS FOR ABANDONING PET DOGS
Two women, Mdm Tan Lee Cheng, 46 and Mdm Lu mei Hua, 43, were caught and fined for abandoning their pet dogs. They were also given a six-month ban from taking care of any pets from the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA).
Mdm Tan was fined $4,000 for abandoning her son’s Jack Russell terrier. The dog was found wandering around Gangsa Road and Lompang Road last September. Upon investigation, Mdm Tan’s reasoning for abandoning the dog was that her son was not able to take care of the dog, which was given to him from a friend.
The dog was handed over to a welfare group and later died due to a medical condition.
As for Mdm Lu, she informed her domestic helper to release her pet toy poodle at a void deck in Ang Mo Kio because her dog bit her daughter’s finger. The poodle was not licensed. She was fined $3,500 for abandoning her pet as well as for keeping an unlicensed dog.
The poodle was then sent to a fosterer for care and has since found a new home while investigations were ongoing.
Those who abandon their pets could be fined and jailed for up to $10,000 and 12 months on their first time of the offence.

EMPLOYER NEVER PAY MAID SALARY FOR 1 WHOLE YEAR!!!
A 30-year-old woman was charged on Tuesday for failing to pay her maid’s wage for 1 full year, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) announced today.
Li Jun, a Singaporean, faces 13 charges for breaching the Work Permit Conditions under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.
She had failed to pay her maid, a Myanmar national, any salary between 7 March last year and 21 February this year, which amounted to $5,700 in total arrears.
She faces up to a $10,000 fine and imprisonment of up to 12 months or both per charge. Her case will be heard again on 12 September.

$60M UPGRADE OF CENTURY SQUARE MALL IN TAMPINES TO BE DONE FROM SEPT
On Aug 16 in lieu for refurbishment, Century Square being oldest of three malls in Tampines said property manager AsiaMalls Management.
Expected completion of the $60 million investment is to be finished by the second half of 2018.
