NETIZEN GET FINE $53.20 AFTER HE FORGOTTEN TO PAY TOLL AT TUAS CHECKPOINT!

0

THE INCIDENT:
Today while going to JB using Tuas Checkpoint, second link, we forgot to pay for the $3.20 toll charges using our cashcard by honest mistake because it slip our mind. However the toll gantry open letting us exit to a hiding Certis Cisco officer behind the sign.

THE MODUS OPERANDI:
He immediately asked us if we paid the toll charges and we apologized immediately and said it was a slip of mind. However he demanded that we make a fine payment of $50 plus the $3.20 we short paid without any leniency or warning.

DOUBLE STANDARDS:
We asked the officer in charge why the system allows the gantry to open and let cars to go through without paying the toll. He said the system belongs to ICA and not LTA. Is system integration so difficult as Woodlands and Johor Checkpoints’ gantry does not open unless you pay toll charges.

IT IS A TRAP:
It is very obvious the Certis Cisco officer is hiding. He knows immediately that we forgot to pay while the ICA officer doesn’t. Its a trap to collect revenue obviously. We asked the officer, and he replied that he is not hiding, he just happens to be standing there. BS?

NO INTENTION TO IMPROVE:
We gave feedback to integrate the system to open the gantry after paying tolls and the officer ask us to feedback to their bosses ourselves as they cannot give feedback as their bosses will think they are trying to skive or change the system. They also said there has been many complaints of this issue, meaning to say nothing has changed. Isn’t feedback from the ground the most important for improvement? Why Singapore Certis Cisco and LTA doesn’t improve systems that don’t benefit themselves. If you cannot guard the well being of your staffs, how can you guard the well being of the citizens, and how do you make Singapore a better place for us?

This is not an issue of money but an issue of trust. Without a trustworthy system in a first world country, setting up traps like this to make a quick buck, it just is not right. With mindless soldiers in the front end following instructions blindly will cause the downfall of the organization and our future. Shame!

FOREIGN VISITOR IS GRATEFUL FOR SMRT STAFF IN ASSISTING THE RECOVERY OF HIS WALLET!

0

On October 17, I went to Singapore for one day business trip. At the first step on the arrival, it was a nightmare since my wallet had dropped immediately after reached Singapore. Could you imagine, losing wallet, credit cards and other necessary belonging in oversea at the arrival and a serious meeting is waiting for you in next hour.

After it was really hopeless, Mr. Sai Yusoff SMRT train driver at the Changi Airport has found my wallet and pass it to staff who on duty at the Tanah Merah station. You all did not only bring back my day, but the whole trip became wonderful. In addition you make me really trust the country of Singapore.

Million thanks SMRT for your great team. Please realize that my sharing here can not really express how I really feel and appreciate Mr. Sai Yusoff.

*Appeal for Witness* HIT AND RUN CASE IN YISHUN RING ROAD CARPARK!

*Appeal for Witness*
“hit and run case in Yishun Ring Road Carpark, beside block 109 and 110, on 16 October (Monday), 7.50pm – 9pm. My car, parked at the carpark lot 338, apparently was hit by another car who tried to park in carpark lot 337. When I came back, I realized my vehicle has a significant dent on the driver seat door and it can hardly open fully.

There was no note or anything from the culprit for apologies or compensation. I believe he must have sped off after the incident. This is a very irresponsible behaviour and I would like to urge the public to come forward if they have any information pertaining to this.”

NETIZEN CAN”T UNDERSTAND WHY SOME STUDENTS CAN AFFORD OVERPRICE SUGAR LOADED COFFEE BUT CAN’T LET GO OF $8 FOR STUDENT LIFE!

0

With the whole hubbub on that $8 student life fees issue, here’s my $8:

You’re only letting go of that $8 once a year and you’re only gonna pay for it at most 4 times in your entire life – will that really hurt your pocket that much?

I’d understand if you were financially tight (but to be fair you’d have bursaries/subsidies in place to already take care of that so it shouldn’t be a big deal in the first place) but if you’re living a relatively normal life why is that $8 such a big deal?

You wouldn’t mind letting go of $8 if it was a large-sized overpriced sugar-overload coffee but when it comes to stuff like this you start crying “it’s too much man!”

Sure, you might not participate in CCAs and you’re not one of those people who queue up for welfare packs. But other students do. There are people like me who look forward to that free foolscap that comes in every welfare pack every year. There are people who appreciate the free snacks that come inside the packs because free snacks. Maybe you wouldn’t appreciate them. But it’s not only just about you, isn’t it?

And what about those CCAs who do voluntary work? I’m sure part of what that $8 funds are those CCAs as well, who probably have to use of those funds for fundraising and their voluntary efforts. It might not directly benefit you, but isn’t it good to fund something that benefits society?

It’s about time people stop thinking only for themselves and think about others as well, because the world doesn’t revolve around them.

NETIZEN CLAIMS THAT LOCAL STUDENTS ARE THE SOME OF WORST PEOPLE TO WORK WITH

photo for illustration

Frankly, the local students whom I have projects together with are some of the worst people I have ever worked with (I asked a lot of foreigners about this matter and got the same experienced described from them) and then I have worked all over the world with people from very different cultures. Here are some tips for you Singaporeans who might ever consider pursuing an international career:

1. When someone ask you something – reply. If it’s in a group chat it does not have to be right away, but ignoring for days is simply rude (yes, you can see when people have read the message in WhatsApp as well). If it’s in person, just why? Who does that? Acknowledge the person ffs.

2. If you disagree with something someone says – speak up. That’s how you come up with new things, together. Don’t just go quit, dismiss that person as not good enough followed by ignoring whatever suggestion he or she might bring to the table later.

3. Don’t divide everything and refuse to meet up during the project. That’s not how you work together as a team. If you don’t discuss subjects properly, using your different point of views, the work will never flourish. Furthermore, the assignment might end up being shit since you are likely to be working toward different things.

4. If you don’t understand something an foreigner is saying – ask again. It’s completely understandable. But don’t turn to the other local group members and ask them to explain what ‘he or she’ is trying to express, when we’re still in the room. That’s just rude.

5. Invite all members into the discussion. Turning your back to the foreigner (literally), followed by using a lot of singlish words which we do not understand, is not to include someone.

P.s: I’m aware of the shortcomings of some of the exchange students (not doing their part etc), but it does not make above mentioned less relevant.

MY ELDER BROTHER LIKE TO PICK ON MY WEIGHT ISSUE BECAUSE I BEEN CHUBBY FROM YOUNG!

photo for illustration.

My elder brother M and I graduated from NUS with PHD in statistics years ago. We then applied for the same job at a normal company and managed to get it fortunately.

The job wasn’t simple for us at start but things always get easier when we work together. All problems would be solved eventually. It would be an understatement to say that he is a valued colleague of mine. I believe he feels the same way towards me too.

However, he got 1 massive issue towards me since young and have carried on till now. He never like me putting on weight and have always wanted me to be as small as possible. As a girl, I admit that i am quite chubby but at least i have a great personality. I am never negative and generally been positive throughout my life unlike my brother.

Why do people care so much about appearance? Why do people come up with so many methods to reduce weight? Why cant people take a 2nd moment to appreciate our personality and not overlook them? One day, i finally mustered enough courage to ask my brother just why.

Me : “Kor, why are you so mean towards me when its about my weight? Why can’t… you…” I stuttered as i saw his eyes started flashing in red. After a momentarily pause, he shouted : “Variance Sigma Square, you better start losing weight before i get people to apply reduction technique on u” . He stormed off right after saying that.

Oh well, why do i even bother. At least I have a cooler name than my brother “Mean Mew Moo Mu”. Maybe one day i just split into 2 and fight him.

NETIZEN IS THANKFUL FOR ICA OFFICERS FOR THEIR SACRIFICE ON PUBLIC HOLIDAY !

0

It’s Deepavali morning. 5-30 am, Changi Airport Terminal 1.

Our officers, including Hindu colleagues, are hard at work, manning immigration and baggage counters.

I am leaving for Laos this morning for ASEAN meeting on disaster management. I am happy to meet our hardworking officers and wish my Hindu colleagues a very happy Deepavali.

I shared some muruku with them. A special breakfast on a special day!

To all on duty this public holiday, thank you for your sacrifice!
