A woman was driving along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) when her car suddenly got impaled by a “flying” metal rod, like a scene out of the Final Destination horror movie.
The driver, Jesslyn Seah, shared about his terrifying experience on her TikTok page @ournextchapter.sg.
A Brush with Fate
On 5 September at about 11.20am, Jesslyn Seah found herself on the PIE, heading towards Changi Airport. Little did she know that her drive would soon turn into a heart-stopping ordeal.
Jesslyn Seah shared that she was passing by a construction site next to the Bukit Batok West MRT station when the unthinkable happened – a metal rod came hurtling towards her car.
The metal rod struck the passenger side of her windscreen, causing a sharp crack. Shards of glass flew into the car, landing on the passenger seat.
Jesslyn Seah’s recount of the incident is filled with gratitude, as she remarked “I should consider myself lucky because glass shattered inside the car and towards the passenger seat. Thankfully there is no one sitting there”
In the midst of shock and disbelief, Jesslyn Seah found herself pondering the source of the flying metal rod. She questioned whether it had been dislodged from the heavy vehicle in front of her or if it had originated from a construction site that was nearby at the time.
Reflections on Luck
In a moment of introspection, Jesslyn Seah contemplated whether she should consider herself “suay” or lucky. She confessed in her post, “I have never seen a metal rod flying like this before.” The sheer rarity of such an incident left her astounded.
Jesslyn Seah also highlighted the gravity of the situation, saying that if the rod had hit a motorist, the outcome could have been really serious or even fatal.
Jesslyn’s TikTok post
I am still traumatised after this incident happened this morning 5th Sep. This took place along the PIE towards Changi Airport next to Bukit Batok West MRT construction site at around 11.20am
I have no idea if the metal rod was from the heavy vehicle infront or from the construction site. It flew and hit hard on my windscreen.
I should consider myself lucky because glass shattered inside the car and towards the passenger seat. Thankfully there is no one sitting there and thankfully it doesn’t hit on my side otherwise the glass could have gone into my eyes.
This is a very serious matter. What if it hit into someone’s body or eye? This could endanger someone’s life especially to Motorist when they do not have any protection. Could the authority looked into this serious matter asap?
The rest please drive safe when you are near that area.
