GIRL GETS NEWLY HIRED EX-BF FIRED ON HIS 1ST DAY OF WORK

0

I (f26) dated this guy (m27) in university for about 2 months. I broke up with him because he was boring, we didn’t share any common interests and I just realized he was a “nice guy”.

For the next 2 years, he wouldn’t leave me alone, he took the same classes and would hang out always near me, always sat at a nearby table in the canteen, etc. It was creepy but he never did anything aside from staring at me and saying hi like 5 times a day, so I had no way to report him.

When I graduated I started working on a big company and got promoted quite fast, now I manage a fast-growing team and because we’re urgently hiring and I was on vacation the last month I didn’t interview any of the new hires.

I got back on Monday and the first thing was to meet the new hires, when he appeared on my zoom screen I froze, gave them a very lame excuse and disconnected (not the most professional I know).

I contacted HR and explained my situation, I told them I couldn’t work with him and that I’d resign if they couldn’t change me to another area, luckily the director was really understanding and gave me the day off until they find a solution. Today HR called me to say they’ve fired the new hire and to continuously manage the team as usual.

At about lunchtime my phone started blowing off with texts about how I abused my power to get him fired, I don’t know how he got my number but he and a lot of people I haven’t talked with since university are hella mad at me.

I never asked for him to get fired so I don’t think I’m in the wrong but my boyfriend says I forced HR hand as it’s easier to replace a new hire.

HUNGRY GHOST MONTH IS HERE ONCE AGAIN, HOW TO STAY SAFE FROM UNWANTED SPIRITS

0

The Hungry Ghost Month is upon us once again (16 August is the 1st day of the lunar 7th month), and during this month, the gates of the underworld are open for restless spirits to roam the earthly realm to satiate their hunger.

Our deceased loved ones and ancestors also come back to the land of the living to visit their loved ones.

This is a month where it really pays to be careful, because you never know who or what might be lurking around in the corners around you.

Things to avoid during this month

1. Avoid outdoor activities at night: One of the fundamental beliefs during the Hungry Ghost Month is that malevolent spirits are most active at night, when the Yin energy is the strongest.

Staying out late is non-advised because, well, the spirits are at their strongest at night.

To minimize the risk of encountering these spirits, it is advised to limit outdoor activities, especially after dark. While this may seem superstitious, it is a mark of respect for the beliefs of the culture and shows consideration for those who hold them.

2. Refrain from swimming or going near water bodies: Chinese folklore holds that water is a conduit for spirits, and during the Hungry Ghost Month, it is believed that malevolent spirits may lurk in water bodies.

Spirits of people who have drowned are doomed to find a “scapegoat” to replace them so that they may move on. Who knows? You just might be the unlucky chosen one.

To ensure safety and avoid potential encounters with restless spirits, it is advisable to avoid swimming or engaging in water-related activities.

3. Avoid redecorating or moving houses: The Hungry Ghost Month is not considered an auspicious time for making significant changes, such as moving to a new house or redecorating.

It is believed that such actions could disrupt the spirits and invite negative energy. To respect this belief, it is better to postpone any major changes until after the month has passed.

4. Refrain from wearing red or black clothing: Red is believed to attract spirits, while black is associated with mourning and death.

During the Hungry Ghost Month, it is advisable to avoid wearing these colors to prevent drawing unwanted attention from wandering spirits. Opt for lighter and more neutral colors instead.

It is widely believed that spirits are attracted to the colours and black. They might try to “wear” your clothes and inadvertently possess you.

Also, while we’re talking about clothes, don’t hang wet laundry outside late at night as wandering spirits may “wear” the clothes and get into your house when you bring the laundry in.

5. Avoid staring into mirrors or reflective surfaces at night: Mirrors have long been associated with the supernatural, and during the Hungry Ghost Month, it is thought that malevolent spirits might appear in reflective surfaces.

Staring into mirrors at night is seen as disrespectful and may even be considered an invitation to these spirits.

6. Avoid unnecessary whistling or singing: Loud noises, including whistling and singing, are believed to disrupt the spirits during this sensitive period, and also attract their attention towards you.

To maintain a harmonious atmosphere and show consideration for cultural customs, it’s best to keep unnecessary noise levels down.

7. Do not step on offerings or altars: Throughout the Hungry Ghost Month, people often set up altars and offer food, incense, and other items to appease and honor the spirits for them to “eat”.

It is considered disrespectful and inauspicious to step on these offerings or altars, as it is believed to offend the spirits and bring bad luck. This is pretty self explanatory, imagine if you were having dinner and somebody messes with your food. You’d be angry too, right?

Similarly, don’t look under the prayer altar. It is not advisable to be “kaypoh” and look under the prayer altar. Spirits might be having a feast there and they do not liked being disturbed.

8. Avoid engaging in risky activities: Whether it’s signing important contracts, starting new ventures, or taking part in extreme sports, the Hungry Ghost Month is not the ideal time for such endeavors. There is a belief that the spiritual energy during this period may influence outcomes, so it is best to exercise caution and delay any risky activities.

9. Don’t look back when your name is called: It is believed that everyone has three “lights” of “Yang” energy on their bodies, one on their forehead, one on each side of their shoulders. These lights are supposed to protect you.

So when you turn around, you extinguish one of the lights and essentially make yourself vulnerable to spiritual attacks. However, if you do have to turn around, turn your whole body so that you won’t extinguish any of the lights.

10. Don’t sit at the front row at Getais: This is pretty common knowledge by now, the front rows at Getais are reserved for the wandering spirits to have an unobstructed view of the show.

11. Don’t use cameras at night: You wouldn’t wanna capture something photobombing your selfies, would you?

12. Don’t talk to yourself: Talking to yourself is an open invitation for spirits to interact with you, because the spirits might think you are talking to them.

13. If you feel cold all of a sudden, don’t panic: It would appear as though a spirit is nearby and you have caught their attention, especially if you get the chills and start having goosebumps.

Pretend nothing happened and carry on with whatever you are doing, because the last thing you want to do is to make the ghost think that you can see them by acknowledging them.

Stay safe

The Chinese Hungry Ghost Month is a time of reflection, reverence, and caution. Observing these cultural taboos is not only a mark of respect for the beliefs of the culture but also a way to foster a sense of unity and understanding.

By avoiding these actions during this spiritually significant month, individuals can show appreciation for the rich tapestry of traditions that make up the Chinese cultural landscape.

BF ASKED FOR SHORT BREAK FROM GF TO PIAK OTHER WOMEN TO “GAIN CONFIDENCE & EXPERIENCE”

0

My (20F)bf (20M) wants to take a break to sleep around with other women ?

My boyfriend of six years and me have been together since our schooling days. When we dated he had never had a gf before so it’s only been me who’s been his first partner in bed & I have had a fair share but still not experienced much (he has been my only partner).

Recently my bf told me he wants to sleep around with other women to gain experience in bed and gain more confidence in himself and his skills in the bedroom.

he told me he’d want a 6 month break but eventually he’ll come back to me after that 6 month break because he knows who he has and doesn’t wanna lose it.

At first he wanted to stay together and f with other women but still be together, only different is just be allowed to cheat with my consent basically.

I feel weird that he even wants to sleep with other women when he can gain what he’s seeking with me both experience in bed and confidence so I don’t understand why he needs to have it outside of us.

Also he told me that if the 6 month break happens while he is f-ing with other women, I can’t f with other men.

Personally me I don’t sleep with just anyone & I don’t mind sleeping with just one man all my life. I don’t like sharing and i love to follow dating the traditional way, so it’s upsetting that he thinks this way.

I would like advice from anyone who can help me figure out what he actually wants. I feel like he does not love me enough because I Believe if he did he would not feel the need to ask for a break to go sleep with other women ?

EMPLOYEE REGRETS WORKING HARD, DIDN’T EVEN GET ANY ANNUAL PERFORMANCE BONUSES

0

Do u regret either working too hard or not worked hard enough when u were younger?

When it comes to career, there are generally 2 thinkings. Some pple believe you shld cheong and hustle hard when you are young and in your prime years. Grab opportunities and fight to climb the career ladder etc. Another group of pple will think it’s better to take it easy, prioritizing work life balance and health and just doing what is needed in the job and nothing more.

Just wonder at your current stage of career, do you regret working too hard at your earlier years? Or do you think you should have tried harder?

Netizens’ comments

  1. I regretted working hard at the start of my career only because it was for the wrong job. It was for a back office role in a bank where the hours are long and the pay was not that great. Role was also as a contract staff and they only converted me after perm staff colleagues left.
There was literally no incentive to work any longer than the stipulated 8 hours. Compensation was the same regardless of how many hours I worked. As a contract staff, I was also not entitled to the annual performance bonus. Was a complete waste of my time there.
  2. I regret not working smart. Working hard is fine as long as it is on the correct thing. Don’t be a dumb worker though.
Example: I have a very sneaky colleague who only takes on project that have high visibility. Meaning management is looking over the project closely. He refused to take on β€œgrunt” jobs. Those who end up working overtime for all the routine grunt job usually get pass over for promotion. Of course that sneaky colleague is actually good at what he does so boss tend to pass project to him also.
  3. Working hard in your 20s gives you more options later in life. When you have attained a decent level of progress in your mid-late 30s, you can decide whether to chiong even further or take your foot off the gas a bit (at a comfortable salary).
However, you would need to learn to pace yourself even when you are chiong-ing to avoid burnout.
  4. I worked very hard in my earlier years. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have gotten the opportunities that led to my current life. I was young, energetic and had no kids. It’s much easier to do that in that circumstance.
Yes, it would have been nice to work less and rest more for those years but in my industry if you want to get anywhere, you have to work hard.
There are maybe 10-20 years you can work at that pace. After that, it’s going to be physically difficult.
It just depends on what you want in life.

STAFF TOOK EXTRA WORKLOAD BECAUSE BOSS PROMISED PAY RAISE, GOT CONNED BY COMPANY

0

Coworker took on a manager’s workload for 1 year after being promised a raise and a promotion. Resigned because, surprise! It didn’t happen.

Three years ago our team used to have three people: Our Manager, my coworker, and me. Workload was balanced and we get along well with each other. It was great.

Then our manager resigned for a better position elsewhere. Management promised to find a replacement, and they’d appreciate it if the both of us can split her duties between us for now. We shrugged, because it really wasn’t too bad back then during Covid.

A few months later, they never did replaced her. No response after poking and prodding. Then blindsided us that they no longer have the headcount.

More responsibilities piled up as business returned to normal. Our workload were increasing week after week. I declined taking on more by citing how full my current plate is.

My coworker, however, was oddly jumping at the chance of taking on more projects; small to big, more often than not manager level stuff.

Attending so much meetings and working with our stakeholders. Despite how he’s already overtiming during the weekends just to catch up. It was noticeable: he’s gotten more and more tired and snappy due to the stress.

But perhaps they were grooming him to be her successor. Management was not my cup of tea for now so I was happy for him.

Then he submitted his resignation just last month. Lasted almost 1.5 years. I found out later via the grapevine was that he was denied the promotion this year, and so he found another place with better benefits, salary and a functioning team. Not surprising at all.

As for myself, during his handover I was informed I would be taking on his workload alongside my current one. So in total I would be taking 2 executive’s and 1 manager’s responsibilities. No talk of raise, promotion, or even when they’d get a replacement.

So obviously not being stupid, I started looking elsewhere. I was prepared to be unemployed as I sure as hell wasn’t staying even without getting a new job, but I got lucky with two interviews just within the week of sending out applications.

Recieved a great offer just one week after submitting my resignation letter, with a 35% raise and better benefits.

My last day is next week. The department is low-key panicking as they can’t find someone else to replace us both so soon.

They’ve resorted to give the workload to two other contract staff, who were hired for something else and did not expect this. Obviously, they were not happy, and I try to complete my handover with them to the best of my abilities.

I will never understand what management expected from this decision.

MAN WRAPPED HIS KKJ IN BANANA LEAF FOR A WEEK TO MAKE IT “SMELL NICE”, REGRETS IT

0

I wrapped my penus in a banana leaf for a week

I get a lot of unwanted hard ons with dribbly pre-come. So by the end of the day my underpants normally stink like a sun-dried condom and my D does too. Regular soap just doesn’t quite get rid of the smell anymore.

Now, my grandma always used to cook with banana leaves. It made meat really sweet and moist. She used to wrap warts in the banana skin too and said it healed wounds.

So I figured i’d give my wife a bit of a surprise before one of our infamous saturday night bonk sessions and use a banana leaf to clean up the smell of my D and make it taste a bit nicer, just in case she wanted to put it in her mouth.

I wrapped it up gently on a monday with electrical tape allowing the end to be open so it didn’t block my p-hole and took it off on a Friday.

However, my D didn’t look clean at all when I took it off. It was covered in white bleeding papules with snotty looking fluids.

For anyone interested in a scientific experiment, do not repeat this one. It is just not worth it.

  1. WHAT THE FK
  2. Respectfully… why not just carry babywipes with you and give yourself little wipedowns throughout the day?
  3. Do you understand why this happened????
Besides playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes??
Your bone zone is a sweaty area that’s kept in a confined area that doesn’t give it room to breathe This is why people get yeast infections when they dont clean.
Now you and your brilliant self took a banana leaf and wrapped it around your wet sweaty junk and then held it there.
The banana leaf decomposed and mixed with the sweat on your D.
Remember how you said the banana leaf smelled sweet? The banana leaf has sugars, sugars that got on your sweaty D while the leaf continued to decompose.
And wet sweaty sugary area becomes a breeding ground for yeast. The yeast continues to grow into your skin and it cracks..
Next time just rub some deodorant on your crotch or use some baby powder.

GUY MET ONLINE DATE IN REAL LIFE, WHO SAYS HE LOOK OLDER THAN HIS PIC & ASKED HIM TO LEAVE

0

This might sound like a rant, but I promise I’m not bitter, just disheartened. Had been talking to a lovely lady on a dating app, and things were going incredibly well.

We’ve talked on the phone for hours, and just really vibed. She told me multiple times I was incredibly sweet and funny, and that she was looking forward to going out with me IRL.

She’s pregnant, and had a craving for food (and possibly more), so i grabbed dinner and took a taxi to go see her, thought it would be a cute first date.

When I got there she took the food, thanked me, and said I look 10 years older than my profile pic, and slightly heavier, then asked if I can leave.

Now, the picture IS about a year old, and I am heavier than in the pic, but I literally told her my weight and warned her of my β€œdad bod” on the phone, and she just laughed and talked about her mom bod.

She also said I look like a β€œcompletely different person”, and no one else has ever said that before.

I didn’t really know what to say, so I apologized and left. I deleted my account on the dating app, but not before I noticed she blocked me. I’m compelled to give some advice:

TLDR; You don’t have to be good looking, but physically fit always trumps sweet and funny, even if it’s only by a bit. Also, if you’re going on a date, look better irl than in your profile pic.

Netizens’ comments

  1. I think you got used for food by a pregnant lady..
  2. This has nothing to do with you, it’s just a scam. You could look like Jackson Wang and it wouldn’t matter, she was just using you for free food.
  3. Imma jump in here and confirm.. you got scammed for free food.
Had nothing to do with you or your looks, and everything to do with you seemed nice enough to fall for it.
Sorry you got taken advantage of! Hope you have better luck in the future.

MAN MISUSED BOARDING PASS TO ENTER CHANGI AIRPORT TRANSIT AREA TO SEND OFF GF, ARRESTED

0

Earlier this week on 12 August, a 55-year-old man was arrested for misusing his boarding pass to gain unauthorized access to the transit area of Changi Airport.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a press release that the middle-aged man had allegedly bought an air ticket with the purpose of obtaining a boarding pass to use it to enter the transit area of Changi Airport, not to embark on a departing flight himself, but to bid farewell to his departing girlfriend.

The man’s actions directly violated the Infrastructure Protection Act of 2017, a law enacted to prevent the misuse of boarding passes for unauthorized entry into restricted areas of airports.

The Gravitas of the Offense

The Singapore Police Force said that they take such incidents seriously, recognizing the potential threat they pose to aviation security.

Police investigations into the incident are currently underway.

A Growing Concern

Unfortunately, this incident is not an isolated one. From January to August of 2023 alone, SPF has already apprehended 16 individuals for misusing boarding passes under the Infrastructure Protection Act.

These cases highlight a disturbing trend of individuals attempting to access transit areas for reasons other than travel, prompting authorities to tighten their vigilance and enforcement measures.

Changi Airport’s transit areas hold a unique legal status as Protected Places. This designation carries significant implications for anyone attempting to misuse a boarding pass to gain access.

The Infrastructure Protection Act of 2017 leaves little room for leniency. Those found guilty of misusing boarding passes to enter restricted areas face a maximum sentence of two years in jail, a fine of up to S$20,000, or both.

Signs displayed around airport

Some of the signs warning visitors of unauthorised entry were placed around the airports, stating: “Warning: It is an arrestable offence to enter the transit area if you do not intend to travel, even if you have a boarding pass”.

The Singapore Police Force also added: “The police would like to remind members of the public that the transit areas of Changi Airport are gazetted as Protected Places. Those who make use of boarding pass to enter the transit area for reasons other than to travel out of Singapore will be detected and arrested.”

ELDERLY WOMAN ALLEGEDLY TRICKED INTO BUYING $180 FAKE JADE BANGLE BY STALL VENDOR

0

A Facebook user shared on the Complaint Singapore Facebook page about how her elderly mother was allegedly tricked into buying

  1. a fake jade bangle for $180,
  2. a fake jade ring for $28,
  3. a magnet designed as a ten-thousand dollar note for $20 and
  4. a keychain for $38.

Here is what she said

“This incident happened on 8th august tuesday around 9am, after my mum had left the polyclinic after her blood test, as my dad given her six fifty dollar notes for her to pay her medical bills,

but the staffs at the polyclinic told her that they don’t accept cash, have to make payment by cards etc,

after that she happen to passed by the a street vendor selling accessories,

there’s this old man wearing red t-shirt and shorts whom seems to be in his 70s or 80s, tricked my mum into paying for fake, useless and worthless knick knacks items that includes a fake jade ring ($28), a fake jade bangle ($180), fake sg ten thousand dollar note replica fridge magnet with double sided tape behind ($20) and a gourd keychain ($38),

at first he asked my mum to buy the fridge magnet that cost $20, he told my mum (δ½ ζ‹Ώι’±ζ₯ζˆ‘ζ‰Ύη»™δ½ ) meaning you take out the money, I’ll give you back the change, my mum took out at $50 note, he returned my mum the $30 change,

after that he asked my mum to try on the jade bangle and even try to push the jade bangle into her left hand, despite she already felt pain he still try to force it into her hand, and asked my mum to pay for the jade bangle that was stuck in her hand,

she only wanna take out three $50 notes at first but she accidentally took out the remaining five $50 notes, total $250 he just took all of them from her hand amd said no to change (不用找了) then just picked another two items which was the jade ring and the gourd keychain and passed to my mum,

when she asked for her change back, he just plainly ignored her question!

He didn’t even bother to issue her a receipt for the items, during that day’s evening my mom and I put a plastic bag on her hand and tried to pull the bangle out gently at first and with a bit of force but we failed as it remained stuck in her left hand unable to had it removed,

the next day morning on 9th august wednesday morning my younger brother had finally managed to pull the jade bangle out of my mother’s hand,

on 10th august thursday, we went back to the stall in the eveing before his stall closes,

I question this old man that my mum didn’t intend to buy anything, why did you try to force the jade bangle and tricked her into buying these useless and worthless stuffs, he said that my mum wanted to buy them?!

I went on and said we wanna to return the items and get the full refund of total $270 back, but he said cannot, once he sold the items he doesn’t do refund, which I think is a load of bullshit!

A police report has been made on 10th august thursday, I seriously doubt that he even had any license to set up a stall like to con people of their hard earned money!

Everyone, please do beware of this unethical and unscrupulously old man cheater/swindler at *location redacted*
