ANG MOH CANNABIS ADDICT PRAISES S’PORE DRUG LAWS, SAYS IT “SIMPLY WORKS”

TikTok user Tom Birchy, who purportedly grew up in Singapore and described himself as a cannabis addict, shared his thoughts about Singapore’s drug laws following the recent execution of a Singaporean man who was found guilty of drug trafficking.

Birchy said that Singapore’s tough stance on drugs have spared the country from the damage that drugs cause, as seen in other countries.

He said that he grew up in Singapore and is now living in Thailand where cannabis is legal, and he shared that he is a cannabis addict who consumes of about 3.5 to 7 units of the drug daily.

However, he commended Singapore’s drug laws and says that it “simply works”, sharing that during his recent visit to Singapore, he never considered looking for cannabis because of the strict laws.

He did mention that he believes cannabis should be legalised across the world, but conceded that a small country like Singapore doesn’t have space for a “massive drug problem”.

Birchy added that Singapore is doing a “bloody good job” at controlling the drug situation in the country, although he did mention in another separate video that he doesn’t agree with Singapore’s classification of drugs.

But he added that it is up to Singapore to make and execute their laws.

Netizens’ comments

  1. Legalise. Regulate. Educate
  2. Please tell that to Richard Branson
  3. I agree with you but I think it’s an isolated case for singapore, the unique country allows for it to work, I don’t think you could universalise it.
  4. thank you sir for being honest and understanding our stance on being tough on drugs.
  5. Both ends of the spectrum work. You can either be really free or really tough. It’s the middle range that’s a problem.
  6. Tom, did you have a good sleep when you were off it in Singapore or did you notice any difference
  7. Very well explained. But even with the capital punishment being pushed out for drug trafficking some still are willing to risk their lives for it…
  8. shocked its legal in Thailand now, first time I found out. when I went there in 2019 it was massively illegal

ANG MO MAN ‘UNCOMFORTABLE’ AFTER HIS COLLEAGUES ALL FIND ‘CHICKEN’ ON BUSINESS TRIP

0

Very uncomfortable at a new job after hookers were involved in a business trip.

Context

So I got hired by a company and relocated to deal with the operations here.

First few weeks were ok so far. My colleagues, despite their blunt way of communicating sometimes, are professional, “to the point” and do their job.

As this company is in semiconductors industry with a bunch of operations in Asia, frequent business trips to other countries in Asia are to be expected and are part of my job.

So a few days ago I came back from my first trip in another Asian country with some of my new colleagues, and I admit to be baffled by what happened here.

The first days of the trip was pretty usual: we dealt with the client, endless meetings and negotiations. Things then went well and objectives were pretty much met. So we decided to relax, go visit the city and eat at a restaurant.

That’s where things started to get weird: while we were drinking beer, my colleagues decided to hire local hookers for the night and blow some celebration.

I was quite surprised, cause they all are married with kids. But hey, its their private life, they do they and none of my business. I still felt it was gross, lame and cringey. But, again, as long as no one is hurt, they are free men.

They wanted me to get a ‘hooker’ for myself as well

However, they started to peer pressure me to go with them and participate in this hookers party thing. Scrolling pictures of girls on hooker websites, showing them to me “Which one would be for you? This one! You think she’ll be able to fit you in?” while laughing.

I mean, I am in a relationship too and they know it. I refused and frankly started to get pissed because they insisted, mocked me etc. Then, one of them a bit drunk angrily said that basically my attitude won’t help me integrate the company and become part of the “pack” (ie the team).

I immediately left the bar and left for my hotel. Next day we took the plane back to home, I was alone, felt really ostracized, didn’t talk to them during the fly while they were exchanging words and talked job things.

Supposed to go back to office this Monday, at one hand not so sure I want to go back there, on the other hand I blame myself for not handling the situation well and not having proper social skills to navigate through these tough situations.

Maybe I should’ve bought a hooker without really consuming her? Just to bamboozle them into thinking I did as them?

Netizens’ comments

  1. such accidents are only to be expected in an increasingly hot-tempered culture.
  2. A perfect example of egotistical drivers refusing to give way, such drivers very common in SG because wasting $100K on a piece of paper does funny things to people’s character.
  3. My admiration to these drivers is who willing to lay down their lives (and love ones) for their right of way.
  4. If seniors accident, people will say ban seniors from driving. So like this how ? Ban everyone ? Asking for my senior dad.
  5. Every drivers think they are F1 drivers … must also win first?

MAN HAVING SUPPER @ GEYLANG, SUDDENLY CAR CRASHED BESIDE & ALMOST HITS HIM

A video of an accident emerged online showing a car going off course and crashing into another car that was parked at the side of the road along Geylang Road.

The video was shared on Telegram group SGRoad Blocks/Traffic News.

The Singapore Police Force said that they were alerted to an accident on 28 April at about 3.40am at the junction of Geylang Road heading towards Kallang Road after Lorong 37 Geylang, beside a coffeeshop.

A black car was parked in a parallel parking lot beside the coffeeshop, as seen in the CCTV footage, and a couple of customers were seen in the video seated beside the road and having their supper at the coffeeshop.

As they were eating, a white car suddenly swerved off the road and crashed into the parked car, resulting in the parked car being pushed onto the pavement, grazing one of the pillars and almost hitting a customer nearby.

VIET BU MARRIES A SPOREAN, KENA ‘THIRD WORLD’ TREATMENT BY MOTHER IN LAW

0

I [F27] have been in Singapore for 6 years and my mother-in-law treats me like I’m living under the rock!!

My mother in law thinks that South East Asians other than those from Singapore are uneducated

For context, I am from Vietnam and have been together with my Singaporean husband for two years and have been living with him and his parents.

She asked me if knew what an air conditioner is and if it was a new thing to us!!! She’s done so many ridiculous things like ‘ teaching’ me how to spell the word ‘ low ‘ and ‘ brunch’ when I didn’t ask for despite of the fact that I speak English.

She also kept telling me that my parents in Vietnam ‘can’t afford’ things when she has no clue about their business and how much they make.

I used to make my husband’s family some Vietnamese food and snacks for most our meals and because of that she labelled me as ‘poor’ because that’s what we eat.

She even thought that I never had anything local to Singapore or any other dishes from other countries before I came here which is unbelievable!!!

Worst part is that she dare to think that any South East Asian not from Singapore are all uneducated!!!!!!!

I hate to see her but I don’t want to make my husband sad.

We’ll also be having our wedding ceremony in Vietnam this November for my family, relatives and friends in Vietnam and having her there will absolutely be a nightmare.

What do I do?

Here are what netizens think

  • Talk to your husband, forget the “im scared to hurt his feelings”. Shes literally making a hate crime out of you, and if your husband doesnt put and end to it, might be the end of your relationship, cause girl if it aint stopping now better say goodbye to it ending ever.
  • Try to talk to your husband. This isn’t something you should try to protect him from. He’s an adult and he should know what his mom is doing to you. Don’t just lay there and take it from her.
  • Tell your husband! You need to know BEFORE you marry if he is going to be supportive of you or put his mother first. Do not put it off.

If you don’t tell him, this could end up being a lifelong problem. Always be honest with your husband, and do not set yourself on fire to keep him warm. You deserve happiness as much as he does.

WOMAN FELL INTO LIFT GAP @ AIRPORT AND DIED, DEAD BODY FOUND 3 DAYS LATER

According to a report by Tribun Medan, an Indonesian woman, Asiyah Sinta Hasibuan, fell to her death after falling into a huge gap between the lift and the ground outside while she was exiting the lift.

The shocking incident took place on 24 April at the Kualanamu International Airport in Medan, Indonesia and was caught on CCTV.

Her dead body was later found 3 days later at the bottom of the lift shaft, on 27 April.

The CCTV footage, which has been circulating on social media, shows the woman entering the lift, which has doors on both sides.

The doors behind her then opened first but she was unaware and appeared to be confused as the doors in front of her stayed shut.

The doors behind her then closed and the lift appeared to have stalled as the woman started to panic, as she then pressed the buttons on the lift and took out her phone to make a phone call.

The doors in front of her then opened and the woman then took a step forward, without realising that there was a huge gap between the lift and the floor, and she then fell to her death down the gap.

Supposed to meet her niece

Asiyah was on her way home at the time when she got a call from her niece who was having problems with her documentation and stopped by the airport staff.

She rushed to the airport and called her niece while inside the lift, and her niece found it weird that her aunt didn’t show up and became unreachable.

The niece then asked the airport staff for help to look for her aunt, but the staff couldn’t find her, saying that they had even checked the elevators, which they described as working fine, with no signs of Asiyah.

The niece couldn’t contact her aunt and ended up missing her flight, and she then reported her aunt missing the next day, saying that she was in a lift at the time when they lost contact.

Staff members at the airport later came across a foul stench coming from the lift a few days later, and a maintenance team was then deployed to check it out, and that was when they discovered her body.

The case was then reported to the North Sumatra Police with the airport authorities assisting them with the investigations, and that was when the police discovered that Asiyah had fallen through the gap when they check the CCTV footage.

MAN BOUGHT SPOILED PERFUME FROM SHOP @ JURONG, CAN’T EXCHANGE EVEN THOUGH HE GOT RECEIPT

0

I am quite a regular customer that the sales girl also agreed from Beauty Language at Jurong Point .

Bought a Hugo boss unlimited perfume today at 7pm. Went home after bought dinner. Try at 8pm open up. Found the pump was totally defective cannot even pump out after many try.

Immediately hurry back to the shop worry she closed. Reached there about 8.30pm. Show her she agreed the pump defective and honestly 1st time in my life I came across this incident .

She told cannot be exchanged even i just bought with receipts. Cos without the plastic wrapped I cannot exchanged .

She says I could be buying from other places. She cannot return to the supplier. I was angry I am be accused.

Secondly i suggest why not she open the exchanged bottles n take the plastic wrapped with this defective bottle with box returns to supplier Bureka . She insisted cannot be done. Cos I don’t hv the plastic wrapped with me . Cos I think I hv throw away.

Attached photo is I go back n dig out . I told her if she has tell customer that any defects must hv the wrapped not receipt.

What the use of receipt n i came back the same day to ask for the exchange. What about if I bought for someone as gift.

Other shop told me can be exchanged with receipt as long they know u just bought. Who on Earth think will keep the wrapping.

I only keep the box wrapping . Never ever will patronise this Beauty Language beside is more expensive than I can get from elsewhere after I found out later after this incident.

Be careful receipt doesn’t guarantee exchange. They will lose a regular . Plus friends of mine will be more careful if they choose to buy from any shop

MAN’S UOB ACCOUNT HACKED IN THAILAND, BUT HE HAS NOT BEEN THERE FOR 7 YEARS

A man’s UOB account was deducted of almost $1,000 in Thailand but he had not been to the country for over 7 years. The man was confused and he seems to have trouble getting compensated from UOB bank.

Here is what the man said:

My UOB Visa card was hacked at Thailand whilst I have never been there in past 7years! After complaints through phone calls more than 3 times, this is the reply I got from UOB customer service! No refund ?! My SGD984.79 just gone with poor UOB cybersecurity.

What should you do if you become a victim:

Report to the police, bank and SPF will assist to carry out the investigation and also file ur case to MAS. Worse scenario, file to fidrec to fight for your case. During mediation, fidrec will negotiate with UOB to see if they are willing to provide u with some goodwill. Otherwise, go to adjudication at a fee of $50. Ask for their t&c on the part of the unauthorised transactions.

It is immaterial of adding ur card to your wallet with sms for your case as they said the BBK transaction was done otc. Did u not disable overseas transactions? Check again. Unless they are referring to you that u cannot raise a dispute because you had added your card to your wallet. A possible hack on your phone to retrieve card details is possible but they said the BBK transaction was otc. Another possibility may also be that ur card is misused by your family. Think thru if anyone went to bbk during the alleged period.

If ur phone card details are hacked, it is not the bank’s cybersecurity too. It is dependent how strong your phone’s security. Not sure about other phone brands, iPhone requires pin to each time when we use the card from wallet at otc.

Here are what netizens think:

  • UOB, extremely poor customer service!
  • Should just cancel UOB card if it is unsecured. Have been so many news of UOB cards been scams.
  • Seems like the person in Thai used either Android pay or Apple Pay via their phone after adding it, puzzle how they get the pin to add the card into their phone or just excuses from UOB? Anyway few years back before Covid my UOB card was also suddenly transact in overseas, some ulu country and charged under Airbnb usage. After I saw the sms notification I immediately called scam department and was told my card will be blocked and new card and refund will be sent to me. Few weeks later I was issued a full refund from UOB

“PEOPLE SAY BTO WILL PROFIT MACHAM DON’T NEED BUY ANOTHER HOME TO STAY”

A netizen pointed out to those people thinking that buying a BTO is a profit says that “they are dreaming”.

However, some netizens argued that some might move overseas or rent a home but most people won’t do this.

Here is what he says:

Alot of people say buy BTO then sell can profit 200 – 400K or even more. But that is one of the dumbest ways to make money.

Lets say you buy the BTO at 100K, you sell it for 500k minus CPF repayment and other fees maybe you profit 390K (This is a high estimate, it’s probably much lesser than this).

But what happens after that?

You upgrade to a condominium then continue paying debts again for another 20-30 years? That don’t sound good.

You downgrade to a smaller flat and earn practically next to nothing? Going in a big circle to earn that small amount of money. Not to mention a smaller living space.

You buy a same size HDB that cost already the same amount and lose money from fees and etc.

You go for 2nd BTO and become homeless or pay rent until its your turn? Wait another 5-6 years you probably pay over 200k in rental (5 years) and your BTO cost you over 100K.

Come on lah, these people are dreaming

So whats the point?

People say BTO will profit macham don’t need another home to stay. If you moving overseas and have no intention coming back then you will probably profit for real since homes from our neighboring countries are much cheaper.

If your someone relying on BTO profits to buy a condominium then your probably not earning enough meaning you will enter another debt till an even older age.

If your intending to rent with your BTO profit’s, it is not feasible as well. Your profit will run out in about 10 years if you rent a 4 room flat. If you include inflation, fees and tax, it’s even lesser.
