GANGSTER TELLS TAXI DRIVER “LIMPEH SALAKAU”, REFUSE TO PAY TAXI FARE

A video emerged online showing a taxi driver and a passenger having a dispute inside the former’s vehicle over the route taken and the fare.

In the beginning of the video, the two were seen arguing, with the passenger asking the driver to make a turn but the driver replied that there was only one way for him to go.

The driver then stopped his car ahead, and the man then asked him to reverse his vehicle and enter the “road” that he wanted.

The driver told him that he can’t reverse because the road that they were on was presumably a one-way road, and the man then told the driver to stop the car there.

Upset with the driver, the man said: “Walan eh, just now can make a turn but you don’t want to turn, knn. You drunk I not drunk leh.”

The man then gave the driver a few dollar notes, which was lesser than the fare, and the driver then held up the money to show the man.

The man asked the driver how much was the fare, and the driver told him it was $11, to which the man then argued that the driver made a wrong turn, “I still need to pay ah?”

The driver then asked the man, “so you don’t want to pay?” which the man then affirmed twice.

The driver then told the man that he was going to call the police, and the man then challenged him to do so, “call lah!”

The man then alighted from the taxi and the driver then told him not to run away, and the man then went back into the taxi and shouted “EH LIMPEH SI SALAKAU EH LAH! (translation: eh limpeh is from the 369 gang!)”

The taxi driver then went to the back of his taxi and scolded the man for vomiting inside his cab, as they continued their argument outside the taxi.

The man then told the driver that he would pay the money if the taxi driver reverses his car into the road that he wanted him to turn into earlier, “LE GOSTAN WA HENG LE! AI GOSTAN MAI? CCB!”

Potential penalties

Under Singapore law, it is illegal to be a member of unlawful societies in Singapore. If found guilty of being a gang member, offenders may be fined up to S$5,000, jailed up for up to three years or both.

MAN ENDED UP AT WOODLANDS CHECKPOINT AFTER HIS BUS FOLLOWED ANOTHER BUS “BLINDLY”

0

A man in Singapore, 46-year-old Huang Shao Xiong, was on board bus service number 170 on his way home and eventually found himself stuck at the Woodlands Checkpoint without a passport, and ended up having to spend another 45 minutes to go home.

Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, Huang recounted the incident and said that he was on Bus 170 on 14 April at about 6.30pm in the evening, boarding the bus from King Albert Park MRT Station.

His destination was at Block 25 Woodlands Centre Road, where he had planned to alight one bus stop before the Woodlands Checkpoint.

For contextual purposes, bus 170 is supposed to pass the Woodlands Train Checkpoint, before stopping at Block 25, and then on to Woodlands Checkpoint.

However, on the day of the incident, the bus drove past Woodlands Train Checkpoint and didn’t stop at Block 25, instead driving straight towards Woodlands Checkpoint.

Huang said that when he realised that the bus wasn’t stopping at Block 25, he immediately pressed the “bus stopping” button to let the driver know that he wanted to alight.

But the driver didn’t stop and Huang ended up being driven to Woodlands Checkpoint instead.

Because he never expected to be at the checkpoint, he didn’t have his passport with him. He said that he was on edge throughout and was fearful of being asked to show his passport.

He was afraid of being seen as breaking the law if he couldn’t produce his passport.

Huang said that his commute home usually takes about 40 minutes, and that he usually reaches home at about 7.15pm. But on that day, he struggled to find his way home and ended up reaching home at 8pm, all worn out.

The Vice President of SBS Transit’s Customer Experience and Communications, Grace Wu, told Shin Min Daily News that the driver of Bus 170 had blindly followed the bus that was ahead of him at the time, Bus 170X, which doesn’t stop at Block 25.

As such, the driver of Bus 170 then mistakenly followed the 170X’s route and missed the stop.

Wu apologised for the incident, saying that they are sorry for the distress and inconvenience cause to the passenger(s) who were affected, and added that they have taken action to make sure incidents like these are not repeated.

Huang has also lodged a complaint with SBS Transit, which apologised to him; however, he doesn’t intent to accept the apology.

Tucked among the solid carbohydrates was the green caterpillar, which appeared to be dead, all curled up and unmoving.

Although at first glance, the caterpillar might’ve been mistaken for a piece of long bean, but on closer inspection, you can tell that it’s a caterpillar.

Disgusted with her find, Yong said that she immediately lost her appetite, and speaking to AsiaOne, she described it as being “not the worst meal” that she has had, although she mentioned that from now on she will be checking her food before eating it.

Not the first case of foreign things found in food

Earlier this week, a woman found a whole staple bullet inside a prawn roll from a packet that she had bought from Sheng Siong Supermarket.

She had bought the prawn rolls home and fried it, before cutting it into smaller pieces and that was when she discovered it.

She was initially planning to feed it to a child but thankful she managed to discover the staple bullet in time and didn’t give it to the kid.

And earlier this month, a woman found a lump of tissue inside her sugarcane juice drink that she bought from a hawker stall in Balestier.

The lump of tissue paper was found underneath the ice inside the cup and she only found it when she was about done with the drink.

She subsequently fell sick and they reported the incident to the Singapore Food Agency and the Police as well.

WOMAN WARNS OF CHIKOPEK UNCLE WHO PCC BESIDE HER INSIDE THE BUS, POLICE ALERTED

A netizen on Facebook, said in a post that she was asleep for about 30 minutes on the upper deck of a double decker bus during her commute, as reported by MustShareNews.

She said that she was woken up as she kept hearing ringing sounds coming from beside her, but didn’t think much of it, merely giving a look at the uncle who was sitting across from her.

She was wondering to herself what was the uncle doing as he made the noises, but she then went back to sleep because she was too tired.

She was eventually woken up again by the noises the uncle made and she then looked over and stared at the uncle, but she then fell asleep again.

The OP soon woke up again for the third time when the noises got even louder, and she suddenly thought about what her boyfriend said about a man who stimulated himself to girls on the bus.

She then fully awoke and looked over at the uncle with her half-opened eyes, and saw him doing some “gestures” in his seat and moaning.

She said that she didn’t know what to do and went on to our on her earphones and fiddled with her phone because she couldn’t go back to sleep anymore.

The uncle then stopped moaning and his “movements” also slowed down as well.

The OP then followed the other commuters and left the upper deck of the bus for the lower deck instead, but the uncle followed her down and alighted soon after.

She said that she didn’t manage to record the uncle in the act, but managed to record him alighting from the bus.

She posted the video online and another netizen commented that her friend was on the bus at the time and had filmed the uncle in the act.

The commenter said that she has sent the video clip to the OP, who will be reporting it to the police.

Contraband cigarettes

The dangers of contraband cigarettes in Singapore are many. They pose a health risk to smokers.

Contraband cigarettes are often produced without the same quality control measures as legal cigarettes, meaning they may contain harmful chemicals and toxins at higher levels.

This puts smokers at risk of developing serious health conditions such as lung cancer, heart disease, and respiratory illnesses.

Another danger of contraband cigarettes is the potential for organized crime and gang activity. The illegal trade of cigarettes is a lucrative business, and criminal organizations may use the profits to fund other illegal activities.

This poses a threat to public safety, as these criminal organizations may resort to violence and other forms of illegal activity to protect their interests.

Potential penalties

The buying, selling, conveying, delivering, storing, keeping, having in possession or dealing with duty-unpaid goods are serious offences under the Customs Act and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act.

Offenders can be fined up to 40 times the amount of duty and GST evaded, jailed for up to six years, or both. Vehicles used in committing such offences can be seized.

Type of OffenceComposition Amount
Failure to declare or making an incorrect declaration of cigarettes1st offence: S$200 per packet or per 20 sticks or part thereof

3rd offence: S$800 per packet or per 20 sticks of part thereof

AUNTIES & UNCLE FIGHTING OVER SEATS & THROWING CHAIRS @ GETAI EVENT, FINED $1K EACH

A huge fight previously broke out in August 2022 involving an elderly couple and another elderly woman over seats at a getai performance, and the misbehaving elderly trio were each fined $1,000 on Friday (21 April).

The trio, 70-year-old Neo Kway Chuan, his 66-year-old wife Long Kai Buay, and 71-year-old Ong Geok Sang, were each fined $1,000 after pleading guilty to 1 count of affray for fighting in public.

They were at a getai performance along Arumugam Road on 10 August last year at about 5.30pm, and Ong (the short-haired woman seen in the video clip) had placed some paper slips on a few chairs to “chope” the seats for her friends.

Neo then removed the slips of paper as he and his wife and sat down on two of the chairs, prompting Ong to confront him and they got into an argument.

Neo told the woman that she shouldn’t be hogging seats, but she scolded the couple for taking the seats that she had hoped.

A fight soon broke out with Ong and Neo picking up chairs to attack each other, Ong then threw a chair at Neo’s wife Long but she missed, and the two women then fought it out.

The couple then started throwing punches at Ong and the other attendees and staff members at the getai show then stepped in to break up the fight.

Ong then called the police at about 6pm saying she was assaulted, and all three of them were arrested.

Recap

A fight broke out among a group of middle-aged people at a getai event in Macpherson back in August 2022.

The short-haired auntie, who was wearing red, was seen in the video picking up a chair and throwing it at the other auntie’s face, who was sitting down on a seat.

The auntie, who was wearing black, then got up and picked up a chair, and swung it at her aggressor, as the two came to blows – the black shirt auntie was seen tussling with the red shirt auntie and hitting her on the face

Another man wearing a black shirt then jumped into the fray and socked the red-shirted auntie in the face multiple times.

Several onlookers then stepped in to break up the fight, as the red-shirt auntie was seen bleeding profusely on her face.

Arrested

Three people, including a 69-year-old man, a 65-year-old woman and another 71-year-old woman were reportedly arrested on the spot following the fracas.

The police are investigating the incident and the 71-year-old woman was conveyed to hospital.

Auntie’s side of the story

The short-haired auntie who was seen in a viral video throwing a chair at another woman before getting socked in the face repeatedly by another man, has since come forward with her side of the story.

The fight happened at a Getai at Lor Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple Association, located at 15 Arumugam Road, on 10 August.

The short-haired auntie told media outlets that she reserved a seat for her friend at the Getai, but the couple in the video then arrived and threw away a cup of coffee and bun that was left on the seat, before sitting down.

She added that she received 2 stitches on her face and is adamant that she has done nothing wrong.

However, several netizens who purportedly know her said that she regularly chopes seats when she’s not supposed to.

WOMAN JEALOUS OF NEW CHIOBU AT OFFICE, ALL THE GUYS ASK HER OUT, BUT WHEN SHE JOIN NO ONE CARE

0

I (f27) am so jealous of the pretty girl (f29) at our office

A couple of months ago, a very pretty woman joined my company. Her team sits a couple of desks away from mine.

90% of our company is male and most of them make a song and a dance to talk to her. I asked her out for lunch after she just joined, but she was already booked for a couple of weeks because so many of our colleagues wanted to meet her. Needless to say, that was not the case for me when I first joined.

I always considered myself to be attractive. Not stunningly beautiful, not everyone’s type, but not bad looking either. But realizing how my colleagues treat a pretty women makes me realize I am not considered pretty. And it hurts more than it should.

I am also jealous of how easy it was for her to fit in. After only a few months she is better connected in the company than I am. And I am outgoing.

Some days, when a colleague ignores a question I ask him just to listen to something she says, I question not just my looks but my entire attitude. Maybe I am giving off annoying vibes? But then again, I am doing my job and asking questions is part of that.

This is post is not supposed to say something negative about my colleague. She is a really nice person and I know that me being insecure around her has something to do with me, not her.

Netizens’ comments

  1. I believe everyone feels the way you do, men and women. Being stunningly beautiful is like a superpower we all wish we had, but only a little percent of the population has it.
It might be unfair, all the advantage they have over us, but that’s just the way it is, don’t let it bother you, it really is one of those things in life you have to deal with, you get one life and one body, love it as it is and don’t compare it with others.
  2. I wouldn’t think too much into it. Its maybe that whole new fish vibe. Personally I’d just stay in my lane and concentrate on yourself. It may turn feral if you let it get to you, say a comment you may say gets taken out of context. If you say 90% are Male, maybe that has something to do with it.
