MOTORCYCLIST WHO CRASHED & RAN AWAY FROM POLICE, ARRESTED & FOUND WITH KNIFE

A video previously emerged online showing a motorcyclist crashing before abandoning his motorcycle and running away from the scene, resulting in a couple of Traffic Police officers giving chase to him on foot.

He was ultimately arrested.

What actually happened

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said that the incident took place on 29 March at about 11.55pm, and a traffic police officer was riding along Geylang Road when he signalled for the motorcyclist to stop his bike for a vehicular check.

However, the motorcyclist refused to comply with the traffic policeman’s instructions and took off from the scene, speeding away.

The traffic police then pursued the fleeing motorcyclist, with the latter later crashing before fleeing on foot somewhere along Geylang Lorong 22.

He was chased by two traffic police officers who managed to arrest him along Geylang Lorong 24.

An eyewitness who was nearby at the time, spoke to Shin Min Daily News and said that after the man was caught by the police officers, a knife about the size of a palm was found on him.

He was then arrested for possession of an offensive weapon as well as a few other traffic offences, and was conveyed to the hospital conscious (because he had crashed before fleeing).

At the time of writing, police investigations are ongoing.

Recap

A video emerged online showing a motorcyclist skidding and crashing on the road, falling onto the pavement before getting up and running away from the traffic police along Geylang.

According to SG Road Vigilante – SGRV, who posted the video, the incident happened on 29 March 2023 at about 1146pm along Geylang Road, and was captured by another vehicle that was nearby the incident when it happened.

The motorcyclist was seen in the video skidding off his bike at the traffic junction of Geylang Road and Aljunired Road, hitting a traffic light before falling onto the pavement.

A traffic police officer riding a bike soon reached the scene seconds later from right behind the fallen rider, and the rider then hurriedly got back up on his feet and fled the scene, running away towards the left.

The traffic police officer then got off his bike quickly as well and gave chase to the fleeing motorcyclist, with another traffic police officer pulling up next to the first officer, before getting off his bike too and giving chase as well.

MAN SAID GETTING A TAXI, GRAB, TADA OR GOJEK IS A NIGHTMARE AT BOAT QUAY

0

I am a regular patron at Boat Quay, a popular area in Singapore for bars and restaurants.

For years, I have been relying on the traditional taxi booking system to get around the area in the evenings. Unfortunately, over the last few years, I have found getting a taxi at Boat Quay to be a nightmare.

I remember the good old days when I could just stand on the street corner and get a taxi in no time. I could even book a taxi in advance by calling a taxi company. But these days, getting a taxi at Boat Quay is almost impossible. The street corners are always crowded with people waiting for taxis and the taxi companies don’t pick up the phone.

The reason for this is the rise of ride-hailing apps like Grab, Tada, and Gojek. These apps have made it much easier for people to get around the area. Instead of having to wait for a taxi to come, you can simply open up the app and book a ride in a few taps. This has made it much easier for people to get around, but it has also made it much harder to get a taxi at Boat Quay.

The drivers of ride-hailing services have more freedom to choose where they want to go. They can choose to go where the demand is higher and the fares are better. As a result, there are fewer taxis and private hire edrivers around Boat Quay as the drivers prefer to go to other areas where they can get better fares.

There was once I tried to book a Grab or Tada ride from Boat Quay to the north and it was over $60!

If I top up a bit more I can get a plane ride to Kuala Lumpur.

On top of that, the surge pricing that is implemented by the ride-hailing apps can make it even more expensive to get a taxi at Boat Quay. During peak hours, the fares can go up to twice the normal price, making it even more expensive to get a taxi. This can really add up over the course of a night and make it much harder to get a taxi.

Overall, getting a taxi, Grab, Tada, or Gojek at Boat Quay has become a nightmare. The drivers prefer to go to other areas to get better fares and the surge pricing can make it even more expensive to get a taxi.

This has made it much harder to get around the area in the evenings.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a statement that a 51-year-old Singaporean man was arrested along with 9 others during an operation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducted against a syndicate that ran remote gambling services for lottery, soccer and horse betting.

Singapore Police Force’s press release

CONFISCATION OF UNEXPLAINED WEALTH FROM ILLEGAL 4D/TOTO OPERATOR OF REMOTE GAMBLING SYNDICATE

In an operation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against a syndicate that operated remote gambling services facilitating lottery, soccer and horse betting since 2014, Gan Chin Huat (Gan), a 51-year-old Singaporean man, was arrested along with nine others.

Police investigations revealed that Gan was the upstream agent in-charge of creating and issuing online betting accounts for six co-offenders on various illegal remote gambling websites that facilitate lottery, soccer, and horse betting. This includes the collection of illegal 4D/TOTO bets and settling of illegal 4D/TOTO monies.

On 12 July 2018, Gan was sentenced to an imprisonment term of 26 months and a fine of S$160,000 for providing a Singapore-based remote gambling service and receiving illegal 4D and TOTO bets under the Remote Gambling Act 2014.

Following his conviction, the Police had sought a confiscation order against Gan to forfeit the benefits derived by him from criminal conduct. Based on financial investigations conducted by the Police, Gan was found to have accumulated unexplained wealth through his illegal activities over the years. This amount was disproportionate to his known sources of income. On 13 March 2023, the High Court made a confiscation order against Gan, with the amount to be recovered under the order to be a total sum of approximately S$110,332.67.

Under Section 7(1) of the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act 1992, any person who is convicted of a serious offence is subjected to having the benefits derived by him from criminal conduct confiscated.

MAN ASK MASSEUSE FOR ‘PIAK’, SHE PULL DOWN PANTS SHOW HIM SHE WEARING PAD

0

I still can remember the first time I explored the world of massage and extra services.

I wanted to try something exciting during the pandemic because life was quite sian at that time

I was feeling desperate and alone. Had been feeling like this for months now, ever since the pandemic started and made it impossible to go out and meet people.

I had been looking for an escape, something exciting/thrilling to make me feel alive again. So when I saw an ad online advertising a massage parlor, I thought it was the perfect opportunity.

I made a call and asked for ‘Lele’ (not her real name) to service me and the receptionist booked the appointment for me.

I walked into the massage parlor, not quite knowing what to expect. The masseuse was friendly and professional, and I soon found myself enjoying the massage.

When she pointed at my lil bro and asked if I wanted any special services, I hesitated for a moment before finally gathering the courage to ask her for s-.

She pulled down her pants and revealed that she was wearing a pad. I felt my heart sink with disappointment. She told me that today was not a good day for her and that she could not offer me what I wanted but could do anything that I wanted from the waist up.

In the end, I opted for mouth and paid her the tips for the services before leaving the place.

It was shiok to be honest but I cannot help but feel a little disappointed that I did not get to ‘poke’ her that day due to her time of the month.

I called a few times after that day to try and book her again but she was always occupied at the time where I was free and I gave up trying after a while.

HUSBAND REFUSED TO LET WIFE DRIVE CAUSE CAR ALWAYS GET NEW SCRATCHES

0

I’ve been married for 12 years now and my wife has always been adamant about wanting to drive. I, however, have never let her behind the wheel of my car.

Why? Well, it’s pretty simple — she’s a terrible driver.

I’m not sexist, but statistically speaking, women are more likely to get into an accident than men. In fact, according to the latest statistics available, women are twice as likely to get into a car accident than men. That’s why I’ve always been so adamant about not letting her drive.

Not only is she more likely to get into an accident, but she also tends to scratch up the car. To put it bluntly, she’s just not all that careful when it comes to driving. She’s always in a rush and tends to take corners too tight or go too fast. This has resulted in the car getting scratches and dents on a regular basis.

My wife is always asking me why I don’t let her drive, and I always tell her the same thing — because I don’t want her to get into an accident and because I don’t want her to scratch up the car. She doesn’t like hearing it, but it’s the truth.

I always tell her that if she’s really that desperate to drive, then she should get her own car. But she always says that she doesn’t have the money to buy a car and that it’s too much of a hassle. I understand where she’s coming from, but I still don’t think it’s worth the risk of letting her drive my car.

So, for the past 12 years, I’ve been the sole driver of our car. It’s a huge hassle at times, as I’m always the one having to drive her places. But I’d rather be the one to drive than to risk her getting into an accident or scratching up the car.

I know there are some people who think I’m being sexist by not letting her drive, but I don’t think that’s the case at all. I’m simply trying to protect our car and keep us both safe. I think any responsible husband would do the same.

’m just trying to do what’s best for my wife and myself. I love her and I want to keep her safe. I don’t want her to get into an accident or to scratch up the car. That’s why I refuse to let her drive — and I’m not going to change my mind anytime soon.

WOMAN FOUND A LUMP OF TISSUE INSIDE HER DRINK FROM BALESTIER HAWKER STALL

0

A netizen shared in a TikTok post on 29 March that her mother found a lump of tissue paper inside her sugarcane juice drink that they bought from a Balestier hawker stall.

Her mother then subsequently fell sick the next day, and they lodged a report to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), as well as the police.

The netizen said in the TikTok post that they bought an iced sugarcane juice drink from a hawker stall in Balestier when they found the disgusting tissue inside.

At the time, they didn’t know that their drink was contaminated because the cup was opaque, and they only saw the lump of tissue when the older woman was almost finished with her beverage.

The mother had initially thought that it was a slice of lemon because the tissue was at the bottom of the cup, under the cubes of ice.

She even asked the netizen’s father if he had mistakenly ordered a cup of lemon sugarcane juice instead for her.

She then used a pair of chopsticks to pick out the “lemon slice” from the bottom of the cup and realised that it was actually a lump of tissue paper.

The horrified family then immediately informed the stall owner, before lodging a report with the police and the SFA.

It was not revealed how the tissue managed to get inside the cup or if the cup had been used previously by someone else, but the netizen’s mother fell sick the next day with diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach cramps.

The netizen warned other consumers to be careful when they are eating out so that other people won’t suffer the same fate as them and find foreign ingredients inside their food.

They also urged stall owners to be more careful when preparing their customer’s food and/or drinks.

GF TELLS BF “YOU ARE TOO GOOD FOR ME” THEN BREAKS UP WITH HIM & SLEEPS AROUND

0

Can anyone, especially the girls, explain this?

I know it’s an old topic but it seems to be more and more relevant as days passed by. But this time it happened to me so I need help from any of you to explain.

In short, my gf broke up with me few years ago. When I asked why she wants to leave, she said “You’re too nice and too good for me”. Thing is, I’m not being like “creepy” nice. I’m just being me. And I treated her well. We didn’t argue or fight for any small reasons. I never raise my voice towards her, and whatever other qualities that is deemed “nice”. You know like care for her, cooked for her, supported her emotionally, mentally, financially, etc.

I didn’t want to force someone to stay when they don’t want to, so I let her go. I did fought for her but I stopped when I know she made up her mind.

So basically…what exactly do girls like this actually want? They want us to cheat? Want us to start being abusive? Want us to spit on their face? What is it? And if we did, do they actually feel loved more?

Also, she ended up being together with someone who’s actually abusive. She came to me and I saw blue black marks on her face and hands. Pretty sure there’s more on her body as well. She complained that her new bf didn’t treat her with respect. But…when she was with me… That’s what I gave to her…and she didn’t want that? I don’t get it.

Anyways, it’s not about me trying to be with my ex. I’m okay with her really. I’m together with someone else who appreciates me now. But I’m just posting here asking about the kind of girl my ex is cause nowadays, her kind is appearing more and more. And it makes me curious really.

Would appreciate any answers from anyone here. Thank you for reading.

It was previously reported that a dead baby was found at the foot of an HDB block earlier this week on 29 March, at Block 166 Hougang Avenue 1, and that an 18-year-old girl is assisting the police with their investigations.

Shin Min Daily News reported that the baby was believed to have been stillborn and that the body was reportedly found with its umbilical cord still attached to the foetus.

The Singapore Police Force said that they were alerted to the case of unnatural death on 29 March at about 11.32 am.

Speaking to SMDN, one of the residents living there shared that initially, they heard many different accounts of what had actually happened, with some people initially speculating that an elderly person had fallen by accident.

The neighbours of the family involved also told the Chinese paper that they didn’t know that the 18-year-old girl was pregnant at the time.

They had seen her a few times walking past their unit but never spoke to each other, and another neighbour also added that he saw the bottom half of the 18-year-old girl’s body covered in blood.

According to SMDN, the authorities have not ruled out the possibility that the baby had already died when it was birthed, and that the woman was believed to have given birth at home.

When the body of the baby was discovered, it still had its umbilical cord attached; however, it was not revealed what happened between the time of delivery and the discovery of the body.

An elderly woman was also seen being interviewed by the police at the void deck of the block, as well as being on her phone before a young man showed up and accompanied her – they declined to comment on the incident and returned to the unit.

Police officers were also seen rummaging through the rubbish bins in search of clues and leads, remaining there for about 5 hours before leaving.
