HUSBAND DUMPED WIFE AFTER 14 YEARS OF MARRIAGE & WENT MIA TO BE WITH MISTRESS

0

I, 43f, am currently married to my husband, 49m. I have filed for divorce. We have 3 kids together all boys 14, 12, and 9. I have a son, 20 from a previous relationship that my husband also helped raise.

This story actually starts in Aug. On Sunday, my husband very out of character started a fight with me. He’s never done with me. He left. We worked it out and he came back with a list of 10 things he wanted changed to come back. We discussed it and worked it all out.

He told me I could make a list and I did with 4 things on mine. We had lost each other in raising and focusing on the kids.

We were in heaven for two weeks. Happiest we had been for years. I had been noticing he was on his phone a lot and when I would walk by he would quickly switch apps.

I had seen him deleting messages on Facebook and he got a random call. He claims him leaving the first time had nothing to do with another woman. It was about finding himself.

Monday, he was helping our youngest take a shower. He didn’t hear me coming. He jumped when I appeared. (He doesn’t startle easily so that was a shock to me.)

He quickly switched apps. I finally said I wanted to see his phone. He went into a full on panic mode and refused. There was no yelling this time. I pretty much told him it was “them” or the kids.

He left, changing his number, blocking me and our kids from any contact with him, quitting his job, and moving away. He left us with no money, no income, no insurance and all the bills to pay.

After he left, I learned that one night, he made a late night phone call. My 12 year old heard him and when asked about it the next day, my husband shushed him and gave him the death glare to stop him from bringing it up.

I also realized after he left that I was doing everything on his list but he didn’t do any on mine. Was I wrong to ask to look at his phone?

MAN PAID $9 FOR CHICKEN RICE @ SUNTEC, NETIZENS ASK “WHAT POSSESSED YOU TO BUY”

0

A netizen shared a photo of a plate of chicken rice that he bought at a food court at Suntec Basement 1, which he had paid a whopping $9 for it.

He captioned his photo: “Inflation kicking hard. $9 Chicken rice found at Suntec B1 food court.”

The $9 plate of chicken rice comprised a serving of fragrant rice, succulent steamed chicken drizzled with sauce, two slices of cucumber, a small bowl of soup, and two packets of chili sauce.

While these components may seem typical for a plate of chicken rice, the price tag was far from ordinary, as the netizen attributed the astronomical cost to inflation.

One of the most noticeable consequences of inflation is the increase in food prices. Chicken rice, once considered a budget-friendly meal, has now become a symbol of the rising costs of food in Singapore. This phenomenon isn’t unique to a single dish; it’s a reflection of broader economic changes.

The $9 chicken rice plate sparked a lively debate among netizens. Many questioned whether the dish was worth the steep price tag.

Some argued that the quality and portion size should justify the cost, while others believed that chicken rice should remain an accessible meal for all.

Netizens’ comments

  1. “Do you want three meals in a hawker centre, food court or restaurant?”
  2. When I was working in raffles my colleagues budget 15-18 for lunch.
And even yong tau hoo was around that price.
But 9 dollars for chicken rice with that portion is hard to stomach
  3. Wouldn’t pay more than $6 (at max) for that. I get that chicken rice isn’t $3-$3.50 anymore, but that’s not a $9 (even if OP ordered medium size)
  4. to be honest, i wont even pay $9 for a plate of chicken rice with no additional dish. There are so many good stalls out there at food centre that can do much better than this one at a fraction of the price
  5. It looks like you didn’t even get a pricier part… what possessed you to buy this despite the price?
  6. tbh that is probably in the realm of reasonable pricing if that was in suntec – possibly even low. i’ve never understood how hawkers can charge less than that.
i feel like singaporeans have gotten accustomed to prices which have never reflected the reality involving the costs of logistics + raw materials + labor + enough markup to survive, and have been taking subsidised prices for granted.
it’s a bubble that will have to burst at some point. it’s already coming apart at the seams now, just like housing. i think everyone should prepare for even larger mark ups all around. more pain is on the way.

MAN TO BE CHARGED FOR SERIES OF LOANSHARK HARASSMENT

The Police will be charging a 45-year-old man for his suspected involvement in loansharking activities.

Between 22 March and 28 April 2022, the Police received several reports of harassment where debtor notes were sent via post to various government buildings and residential units. The notes contained photographs and personal information of alleged debtors of unlicensed moneylending.

Through follow up investigations, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and the seven Police Land Divisions established the identity of the man and arrested him on 5 May 2022 in the vicinity of Sengkang.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly worked for a loanshark to print and mail debtor notes to multiple addressees island-wide. The man had also allegedly assisted the loanshark to perform banking transactions at Automated Teller Machines.

The man will be charged in court on 15 September 2023 for two counts of assisting in unlicensed moneylending and 22 counts of harassing debtor on behalf of an unlicensed moneylender under Section 19(1)(b)(i) read with Section 19(2)(a) and Section 47(2)(a) read with Section 47(3)(a) of the Moneylenders Act 2008 respectively. First-time offenders found guilty of an offence under Section 19 of the Moneylenders Act 2008 shall be punished with imprisonment of up to four years, a fine between $30,000 and $300,000 and caning of not more than six strokes. First-time offenders found guilty of an offence under Section 47 of the Moneylenders Act 2008 shall be punished with imprisonment of up to five years, a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, and caning of not less than three and not more than six strokes.

The Police will continue to take tough enforcement action against those involved in the unlicensed moneylending business, regardless of their roles, to ensure that they face the full brunt of the law. Members of the public are also advised to stay away from unlicensed moneylenders and not to work with or assist them in any way. Members of the public can call the Police at ‘999’ or the X-Ah Long hotline at 1800-924-5664 if they suspect or know of anyone who could be involved in unlicensed moneylending activities.

SUPERINTENDENT OF S’PORE POLICE COAST GUARD, CHARGED WITH DRINK-DRIVING

0

Superintendent Lim Tswi-Tsen, a 48-year-old commanding officer from the Police Coast Guard’s (PCG) Gul Region, has been charged with one count of drink driving, according to The Straits Times.

This incident occurred on May 27, around 1:40 am when Lim was driving along an East Coast Parkway slip road into Fort Road.

He allegedly had at least 49 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath at the time of his arrest, surpassing the prescribed limit of 35 micrograms.

The Swift Response from the Authorities

The police wasted no time in responding to this incident. Swiftly, they initiated investigations against Lim and took immediate action by transferring him to a non-front-line post within the PCG.

A police spokesperson has commented on this issue, stating, “Officers of the Singapore Police Force are expected to uphold the law and maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity. We deal accordingly with officers who break the law, including charging them in court. We are unable to comment further, as the court case is ongoing.”

Lim’s Upcoming Court Appearance

Lim Tswi-Tsen is scheduled to plead guilty on October 26.

Drink driving is a serious offense in Singapore, as it is in many parts of the world. If Lim is convicted of drink driving, he could face significant penalties.

A first-time offender can be jailed for up to a year and fined up to $10,000. For repeat offenders, the consequences are even more severe, with the possibility of imprisonment for up to two years and fines of up to $20,000.

Conclusion

The case of Lim Tswi-Tsen serves as a reminder that nobody is above the law, regardless of their position or status. It also highlights the seriousness with which the authorities in Singapore treat cases of drink driving. As the legal proceedings unfold, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the PCG commanding officer.

WOMAN PAID EXTRA $2.50 TO ADD PRAWN FOR HER $8.50 LAKSA, ONLY GET HALF PIECE

0

Facebook user Vikko Xinhang Xu shared that she visited Janggut Laksa along Upper Paya Lebar Road and bought a bowl of laksa for $5.50.

She then paid an extra $2.50 for extra prawns and ended up only receiving half a piece of prawn in her add-ons instead.

The Quest for the Perfect Laksa

Vikko shared her complaint on Facebook on 15 September, when she patronised Janggut Laksa, nestled along Upper Paya Lebar Road.

She placed her order, initially costing her $5.50, before adding extra prawns for an additional $2.50 and the takeaway surcharge, which amounted to $0.50.

She ended up only receiving half a prawn for the extra $2.50 that she paid.

Vikko took her concerns to social media, uploading a post on the Facebook group “Complaint Singapore” to express her disappointment. She exclaims in disbelief, “$2.50 for half a small prawn, amazing!”

What added to her disappointment was the fact that this culinary mishap happened at Janggut Laksa, an establishment with a longstanding reputation. Known as Singapore’s original Peranakan-style laksa, Janggut Laksa has been serving its dishes for decades.

A Perspective from Janggut Laksa

In response to Vikko’s post, a spokesperson from Janggut Laksa offered some insight. They explained that the $2.50 add-on typically includes four to five pieces of prawns, the exact number depending on their size.

They also acknowledged that the incident might have arisen due to miscommunication or staff error and assured that they are actively looking into the incident.

The netizen’s post

Janggut Laksa, extra $2.5 for half prawn.

Today I went to Janggut Laksa for laksa. I paid additional $2.5 for extra prawn. But they only gave me half of prawn!!

Regular laksa $5.5 + Prawn $2.5 + Takeaway $0.5

= Totally $8.5

So I paid for $8.5, just got a small portion of laksa with extra half of prawn LMAO. I don’t know when SG living expense becomes so high ah? $2.5 for half of a small prawn, amazing!!

Janggut Laksa, you such a famous laksa hawker since 1950s, see see how do you do your business now??

M’SIAN MOTORCYCLIST TRIED TO STEAL BIKE PARTS TWICE @ S’PORE CONDO, BUT FAILS MISERABLY

In a bizarre yet comical incident captured on CCTV, a Malaysian-plated motorcycle rider’s ill-fated attempt to pilfer motorbike parts has become the talk of the town.

The incident, dated September 14, unfolded in a peculiar sequence of events that left both the motorbike owner and amused onlookers in stitches.

The Mysterious Thief Strikes

The CCTV footage, though not crystal clear, offers a glimpse into the unfolding drama. A shadowy figure is seen lurking near a parked motorcycle, which happens to be a brand-new, eye-catching model adorned with intricate gold embellishments.

The motorbike’s owner, who remains off-camera, can be heard exclaiming, “There! He’s trying to shake my thing! Then cannot.”

The “thing” in question is presumably one of the bike’s side mirrors or another piece of equipment attached to the vehicle. It appears that the thief’s attempt to steal the item ends in failure, prompting a hasty retreat.

He swiftly mounts his own motorcycle and speeds away, leaving the scene with nothing to show for his efforts.

“Cannot, he’s gone already,” the motorbike owner says as he commentates over the video, his voice laced with a mixture of amusement and relief.

Round Two: The Thief’s Return

Just moments after his initial failed attempt, the thief experiences an inexplicable resurgence of determination. With an unexpected u-turn, he heads back to the scene, ready to give it another shot.

“Try one more time sia,” comments the motorbike’s owner, his commentary mirroring the sheer audacity of the would-be thief.

However, much to everyone’s amusement, the second attempt also ends in fiasco. The thief’s mission to dislodge the coveted item once again proves fruitless, and he departs empty-handed, albeit with some unintended scratches on the gleaming new motorbike.

Public Outcry and Words of Caution

The incident quickly gained traction on social media, with comments on the Facebook post expressing disdain for the bungling suspect. Many urged the motorbike owner to report the incident to the police, considering the damage caused.

While it remains undisclosed whether the motorbike owner pursued legal action, he did take the opportunity to issue a passionate public service warning: “Nothing was stolen, but the hassle he left behind cost money. Fellow bikers, please be alert and look out for this idiot!!! Try not to park your fancy bike beside him, or please watch out for him.”

GIRL’S DEAD GRANDMA CAME BACK TO VISIT HER WHILE SHE’S POOPING

0

When I was about 15 my grandmother died. We were really close.. and I took her death pretty hard. She died on the toilet, and to make light of the situation I would joke that she went out like Elvis.

Well a few days after she died, I was on the toilet when the bathroom lights turned off. Not a burned bulb. Something physically flipped the switch.

As I sat there.. I saw a faint blue light look as though it shot out the window. I was kind of spooked. But welcomed all paranormal activity.

When I walked out of the bathroom my 5 year old sister looked at me and said, “grandma was just at the end of the bed, she told me to tell you she said hi and she is sorry for turning off the lights.”

I will never forget that moment. It is one of my favorite memories.

Netizens’ comments

  • I wonder how many times my Grandma has watched me poop. Hopefully she hasn’t watched me do… other things.
  • It’s nice to know she was still with you
  • absolutely lovely story! Nothing spooky, and evidence that she is watching and will keep watching over you girls.

STRAY DOGS THAT ATTACKED & KILLED 50 COMMUNITY CATS, CAUGHT & CAPTURED BY AVS

0

In the early months of 2023, a disturbing trend emerged in various parts of Singapore – a series of cat deaths and injuries that sent shockwaves through the cat-feeding community.

A Disturbing Discovery

It all began in January 2023 when cat feeders in the neighborhoods of Ang Mo Kio, Seletar, and Hougang stumbled upon a grim sight. Carcasses of cats were found with bite or puncture wounds, unmistakably the result of an animal attack. It was a heart-wrenching scene, leaving cat lovers in these areas in distress.

As investigations progressed, it became evident that a pack of dogs was likely responsible for these brutal attacks. The wounds on the cats matched those typically inflicted by canine predators. Alarmed by these findings, cat feeders initiated nighttime patrols to safeguard their feline companions.

The situation escalated when reports started pouring in from Paya Lebar, where the marauding dog pack had extended its reign of terror. Shockingly, they had claimed the lives of approximately 50 cats, according to Channel NewsAsia.

Concerned citizens and animal welfare organizations swiftly alerted the National Parks Board (NParks) and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

AVS Steps In

In response to mounting concerns, the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS), a division of NParks, sprang into action. On September 8th, 2023, AVS received reports of three free-roaming dogs displaying aggressive behavior toward residents at Fernvale Lane. AVS wasted no time and promptly intervened.

Of the three dogs encountered, two were successfully captured and taken into AVS’ care. Subsequent observations indicated that these dogs bore a striking resemblance to the ones implicated in the cat attacks across various locations, particularly in Ang Mo Kio.

Ensuring Safety

Chang Siow Foong, the group director of community animal management at AVS, assured the public that the captured dogs were now under the agency’s care. Plans were set in motion to collaborate with animal welfare groups to find suitable homes for them. AVS also committed to ongoing monitoring of the situation.

Chang shed light on the behavior of dogs, emphasizing their territorial instincts and their natural inclination to chase and catch objects. While some dogs may exhibit such tendencies more strongly than others, not all will confront humans or other animals. It was advised that, in the presence of free-roaming dogs, people should avoid staring at them and instead speak softly while walking away slowly, avoiding sudden movements.

Interestingly, AVS had prior knowledge of stray dogs in Ang Mo Kio, including the three dogs associated with the cat attacks. Chang revealed that these dogs were believed to have wandered from a remote site in the north to Ang Mo Kio. AVS intended to guide them back to their original location through feeding and conditioning, a strategy employed under the nationwide Trap-Neuter-Release-Manage (TNRM) program.

AVS’s Efforts

Despite their best efforts, AVS faced challenges in capturing the elusive dogs. Traps were deployed, but the dogs, accustomed to their nomadic lifestyle, proved evasive. Chang acknowledged the complexity of the situation, emphasizing the need for patience and continued efforts.

In conclusion, the recent wave of cat deaths and injuries in Singapore has prompted swift action from AVS and the wider community. As authorities work to address the issue and protect both cats and dogs, it is essential for residents to remain vigilant and compassionate towards these animals.

CHEATING GF EXPECTS BF TO TAKE CARE OF THE CHILD WHICH IS NOT HIS

0

My girlfriend is cheating on me ! I found her texts with another guy because I had been seeing they were talking for a few weeks. This is the first time I’ve checked her phone since we started dating over 2 years ago.

Yea she’s been seeing this man and talking to him about how much she regrets sharing a place to stay with me. I confront her the first she didn’t say anything, I go the second time she gets mad at me then apologizes shortly after. Couple days go by and she acts like nothing happened, then at the park while we’re with her mother I see his notification pop up. I act like I don’t see it, I check it again and she gives the man our new address. I confront her and she just gives me a million reasons why she can’t talk. There’s so much more I wish I can add for you guys to better understand my situation. Either way I’m not sure what to do now!

She soon got pregnant and I had this gut feeling that it was not mine, I went to the doctor and found out that if I were to do a maternal test before the baby is born there will be some risk involved.

So I waited till she give birth and I refused to marry her even then. So finally after giving birth I decided to do the test and found out that kid is not mine. I was kind of bluffing myself hoping that its not true and I have since gone MIA on her.

She belongs to the streets. I have a Career, school to finish and life to live. She made her own decision it’s time for her to go.

Talked to her this morning again she doesn’t know what she wants apparently and doesn’t seem willing to co-parent and wants to dump the child for me to take care as the guy she slept with has a family.

She won’t really acknowledge or respond with anything so it’s basically talking to a brick wall. I’m just trying to figure out what we do with our during this situation she put us in.

GIRL NOT HAPPY HER SINGLE FATHER WANTS HER TO PAY ELECTRIC BILLS

0

I dont know what to do now

I come from a single-parent family. We are not well-to-do, considered low income, but not poor to the point where we need to scrimp and save and wonder where the next meal will be coming.

My dad earns around $2.5k plus a month?? Me and my sister are living with him at the moment. Both of us are in uni, we are not working now due to school load but have worked pt before and have a bit of savings.

But my dad has been hinting to us to pay for the water and electricity bills, since he feels unfair that we stay home more often than we do and should pay for our portion. It’s not like we leech off him totally, like we buy our own groceries and sometimes even offer to cook for him, but he prefers eating out instead (damn picky).

He keeps insisting that we have the money from our prev jobs to cover the bills, but we are actually saving for the future, I’m planning to get married next yr and my sister and I are not working atm to focus on studies (proj been pretty heavy this sem), so we will be using our savings. And I’m also not willing to pay for electricity since he is the one who uses the ac every night, it’s very unfair. Both of us use utilities responsibly, we dont take long showers or on ac all day, if that’s what you are thinking. I know it’s not a lot a lot of money but it adds up over time. I envy those ppl, whose parents dont expect them to pay bills before they start working.

Sometimes he ‘jokes’ that we should pay him rent too, this is making me so stressed out, I haven’t even started working and I’m already treated like an outsider staying free, maybe he will quit his job and expect a monthly allowance once we start working. He still has housing loans to pay, so he always say how good it would be for us to move out and he can rent out the room. I feel so bad for occupying the space but I really need it, I can’t afford to pay rent now, really.

Then I feel like I’m unfilial, like should I just accept my fate and pay the bills or like what… I will prob move out in 2 yrs time, once I finish my studies. I know we shld help our parents when they are in need (no he is not sick or anything), but I really cant afford it right now, if I can afford rent I would have moved out alrdy. I’m alrdy helping w some groceries and cleaning the house, which btw I’m the only one doing, idk shld I say this but when ppl have kids shouldnt they cover their necessities??

Not like I ask for allowance, just basic stuff like a room, water and electricity, maybe it’s too much to ask for, maybe as someone’s child I’m supposed to help w everything. I’m just too calculative and unfilial.
