MAN WHO LOST ALL TO CASINO TWICE SAYS HARD EARNED MONEY STILL THE BEST

0

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “The house always wins”. I can say that from personal experience. I’m a man who lost his whole fortune twice at the casino.

Both times I thought I could beat the odds and make a big score, but it didn’t work out that way. I’ve learned the hard way that gambling is a fool’s game and it’s not worth the risk.

Started going to the casino when in school

My first experience with the casino happened when I was in Uni. I was young and naive and thought I could make some easy money playing the slots.

I was wrong. I started small, but as I got more and more into it, I started betting bigger and bigger amounts. Before I knew it, I had lost all my savings and had to take out loans to pay for school.

Lost it all the second time when I was older

The second time I gambled away my fortune was much worse. I was older and should have known better, but I was desperate for money and thought it was my only option.

I had just lost my job and thought I could make a quick buck at the casino. Again, I started small but started betting larger and larger amounts. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was addicted to the thrill of gambling and couldn’t stop.

Before I knew it, I had lost all my money and had to take out more loans to pay my bills.

Hard earned money still the best

My mistakes have taught me a valuable lesson. Hard-earned money is still the best way to build wealth. Gambling is a gamble, and no matter how much you win, you can also lose it all in an instant.

Instead of hoping for a windfall, I now focus on building wealth slowly and steadily. I’ve paid off my loans and am now saving for retirement. I’m also investing in the stock market, which has been much more successful than the casino.

I want to share my story with others so they don’t make the same mistakes I did. Gambling can be a fun pastime, but it should never be seen as a way to get rich quick. You should always remember that the house always wins in the end.

Instead of gambling, focus on building wealth slowly and steadily. It’s the only way to ensure your financial future.

MAN SAYS THAT HIS NEIGHBOURHOOD IN WOODLANDS LOOKS LIKE A DUMP

Garbage piling up in neighbourhoods is a problem that has been around for decades. In some communities, the situation has gotten so bad that the streets look like a giant dump. This kind of problem can cause a variety of issues, from health risks to property devaluation.

The man who posted the photos said:

  • Woodlands 694c
  • Woodlands 694d
  • Admiralty Grove

“Been over a week and not cleared. First World country.”

Another issue is the effect that neighbourhood garbage can have on property values. If a neighbourhood looks like a dump, it’s likely that potential buyers will be turned off. Even if the homes are in good condition, their values will suffer if the neighbourhood looks like a garbage dump.

Finally, neighbourhood garbage can create an eyesore. Even if the garbage isn’t a health hazard, it can still be an eyesore. This can lead to a decrease in quality of life for residents, as well as a decrease in tourism.

Fortunately, there are steps that can be taken to address the issue of neighbourhood garbage. One of the most important is to ensure that garbage is picked up regularly. This can be done through a variety of means, including hiring private garbage collection services or working with the local government to provide regular garbage collection.

Additionally, the community can work together to make sure that garbage is disposed of properly. Educating residents on proper disposal methods, as well as providing garbage bins and recycling options, can help to keep garbage from piling up in the streets.

Finally, the community can work together to make sure that illegal dumping is discouraged. This can include increasing surveillance in the neighbourhood, as well as creating a system of fines and penalties for those who are caught illegally dumping.

CUSTOMER MADE TO STAY AT HOME TO WAIT SHOPEE TO PICK UP REFUND GOODS, BUT NO SHOW

Sharing my experience with Shopee below

Dearest Shopee Team,

I hope you are having a good day because I definitely am not having one thanks to you and the lousy service that I am receiving so far.

Let me share with you the timeline of how I am trying to return a DEFECTED ITEM only to get replied with messages from your customer service colleagues who CLEARLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND ENGLISH.

I ordered a pot which arrived on 17 February (2302165X0CNPBQ). The very same day I raised a return (23021709Q32SCE3) as the pot is not functional when we tested it.

On 22nd February, I was informed that I can return the pot and have the logistics partner pick it up on 23rd February. I spent the whole day at home, only to have no one picking it up. I then wrote to your customer service officer (CS 1) on 24th to inform you on it and I was told that the item would be picked up from 4-6pm on Saturday, 25th.

Once again, I waited on 25th February with nothing done. I wrote to you on 26th again and this time (which is the most classic one), your customer service officer (CS2), first told me that refund is in process and I can expect a refund within 7-14 working days. So can I now expect to see my refund in the next 2-3 weeks since that’s what CS2 said, whether or not you are planning to pick up the item?

I then repeated to CS2 that the item has not been picked up and now CS2 said that a pick up is arranged on 27th morning and she will ensure that the courier partner will pick up as a note was specially left to them. My address was once again requested to confirm that the details are correct.

27th morning came and gone and at about 1.30pm I wrote to your customer service again CS3 assured me that the item will be picked up by 27th.

It’s 28th February today, the item is still sitting patiently in my house, waiting to be collected despite the numerous attempts and promise that it will be collected. How much time must I waste waiting and talking to customer service officers who do not understand English?

The last straw was seriously the email by CS2 last night (please see below). Can you please explain to me what is the item has been delivered and if I want to process the return of the item, please follow the link attached? Haven’t I been talking about the return/ refund of the item all these while? Haven’t I told her that if she don’t understand me, please get someone who do to work on my request?

Please, this is ridiculous that I have to spend time waiting at home and spend even more time teaching your customer service comprehension. If you are not interested in picking up the item, then just give me my refund and I will be more than happy to just dispose the item.

Thank you.

Regards,

Jessica

Update from Shopee:

WOMAN HIRED CLEANING SERVICES TO CLEAN HER HOME, BUT THEY MADE A MESS OF IT

0

Facebook user Shilin Chiu shared how she engaged a cleaning company to help her clean her home, but the cleaning quality was not up to standards.

She said that she hired their weekly cleaners to help clean her home, and her mirrors and glass windows ended up being blurry after the cleaning.

She also added that after the cleaners had mopped her floor, they left her dining chairs messily arranged and didn’t place the chairs back.

Chiu added that she sent feedback to the company but hasn’t received any response from them.

Here is what she said

Luce maintenance group cleaning services.

I tried their weekly cleaners and this was their standard. My mirrors and glass windows were left in blurry state, after mopping the floor my dining chairs were messily arranged and not placed back. Cleaner does not show basic knowledge of cleaning methods.

I sent in a feedback on the standard of cleaning job. It has been more than 24 hours and they have not been able to respond to my query.

Use their services with caution. There are many other cleaning agencies out there.

Netizens’ comments

MAN PAID $10 FOR CAI PNG WITH 1 FISH & 3 VEGETABLES, SAYS ALWAYS GET CHARGE DIFF PRICES

0

Kimly Mixed Rice stall @ Kimly coffeeshop

— Pasir Ris Drive 6, Blk 444

Dropped by stall operated by Kimly Group today, 21st FEB 2023 (TUE), to buy a packet of Cai Fan for dinner.

Added the following to plain rice:

• 1 slice of fish

• bok choy (小白菜)

• long beans

• tofu strips

Was charged $10.20!

I understand inflation is high & the 1% GST hike has kicked in. But $10.20 for 1 fish + 3 veggies????

That’s like Ion Orchard or Taka’s foodcourt prices!

Ohh, I forgot to mention: I found 1 tiny prawn (refer to pic)

After my initial disbelief, I returned to the stall to ask for a receipt. Guy I approached opened up packet & stared at food for some time before asking a colleague if I was charged correctly. This colleague then started shouting at the top of his lungs the breakdown at the very crowded coffeeshop. I promptly told him that I just wanted a receipt.

I’ve patronised this stall for awhile now & this is what I’ve discovered: I could be charged $5 on Day 1 & $9 the next day for ordering the same food.

It all depends on which guy is taking my order!

I also like to add that prices at coffeeshops/foodcourts/hawker centre in PASIR RIS is arguably the most expensive (if not the MOST expensive) among heartland neighbourhoods in SG. I can attest to that as I travel around our island on a constant basis due to the nature of my job.

Shame on Kimly & some of their staff.

MAN CELEBRATES HIS $100K SALARY AFTER JOB HOPPING FOR 4 YEARS

0

Is a 100K p.a salary considered a lot for a young person?

After more than 4 years in the workforce, a couple of job changes, countless hours of overtime and sacrificing social and family time, I have finally reached the magical 6 figure salary.

Initially I thought it was something worth celebrating. But then reality sets in when I realize that it may not be a lot as I thought. Some fresh grads can easily get this in their first jobs out of school.

It’ll need more than 10 years of my salary to afford a small condo or at least 8-9 years salary to get a good centrally located resale flat, not even counting interest charges and expenses to support a family, get a car etc.

Here are what netizens think:

  • That’s too low. Always ask for salaries that match cost of living and more. Also depends on job. If you have to put up with a lot of crap from different people, make sure you get a lot more money to make up for this.
  • Also, I’ve used my example because the UK is already considered a first world country with high prices being a big problem. Almost everywhere else even in Europe people scream when they hear how expensive houses are in the UK, yet the average suburban property is cheaper than a hdb pigeon hole. I know it’s not the size of the house that matters, but I’m just saying that I’m not living on this world just for making more money for a house I don’t have time to be in. If I have to work overtime year round and lose my life just to be fit to live in the ‘really nice and safe’ place, effectively that car and house price IS the safety tax. I left not because I gave up on SG, but because Singapore gave up on people who have priorities like mine. And given the size of the island and the needs of the well-off, I don’t blame them.
  • How well-off someone is depends on the context of society. I earn less than half of your wage level in the UK on the first year of my first job. I’d only need to save up about 40-60k sgd down payment to get a condo flat, slightly more for landed. So I can buy a house in a couple of years working a fresh grad job funding it alone.
  • That amount earn in one year convert to RM can get a very decent landed property in JB.

WOMAN GIVEN DIRTY CUTLERY @ TAMPINES SWENSEN’S, LATER GETS DIARRHEA AT HOME

0

Facebook user Catherine Ang Seow Leng shared how she visited a Swensen’s outlet at Tampines mall for lunch and received a tray of dirty cutleries.

She noticed that the tray of cutleries were dirty was she received it, and she was “extremely put off by this disgusting sight.”

There were visible grimy food stains on the forks, and some dried up stains on the spoons.

Ang revealed that she asked to exchange the dirty tray of cutleries for a new one, and she ended up receiving cutleries that were even dirtier.

She added that when she returned home later that day, she had diarrhea and was pooping her “brains out”, adding that she assumes it was because of the food that she ate there.

Here is what she said

Swensen’s Tampines Mall

23/02, 1pm

Received this cutlery tray today at Swensen’s. I was extremely put off by this disgusting sight. Went to exchange it for a new cutlery tray and I received more dirty cutlery (4th pic, spoon)

Now it’s 4pm and I am at home sh*tting my brains out, not sure if it is because of the food we ate there but I assume so.”

Netizens’ comments

  1. Swensens standard has dropped terribly! Had a bad experience over at Causewaypoint’s oulet and service was terrible at Plaza Sing
  2. Could be when they stack the cutlery basket on top and the basket on the top has sauce/food residue at the bottom. Baskets need to be checked daily and washed weekly.
  3. I think it is high time now to display the phone nos of the govt dept in charge on this matters on the wall of all restaurants .
  4. Nowadays we bring our own plastic forks and spoons because I have encountered many times of dirty cutleries.
  5. Yeah. Went to swensens causeway point too. My god. The ipad to order was sooooooooo dirty with fingerprints of 50 customers before me. Had to tell the servers please help to clean up the ipad. Still didn’t make much difference. LOL. Oh well. But those cutleries are another level.

S’PORE TEACHER INTRODUCED AV VIDEOS TO STUDENT TO HELP HIM DE-STRESS, OFFERS ALCOHOL

0

A 49-year-old former teacher from a “top school” in Singapore pleaded guilty on 28 February to showing explicit adult videos to his 17-year-old ex-student, according to The Straits Times.

He had heard that the student was hurting himself to cope with stress, and he introduced the adult videos to him as a form of coping mechanism to help him de-stress.

He is set to return to court on 28 March for his sentencing, and faces up to 1 year of imprisonment and/or a fine if he’s convicted.

Background

The teacher was tutoring the victim at the time of the offence, helping him with the subject “civics”.

He received an email from the student’s mother on 28 January 2021, who told him about her son struggling with his negative thoughts and emotions.

The teacher then reached out to the mother and told her that the boy was also falling behind in class, and he also went to speak to the boy personally.

The victim revealed to the teacher that he was hurting himself as a way to cope with his stress, and the teacher then gave his phone number to the boy and told him to save it under a different name, saying that it was because their conversation was “not exactly legit”.

The boy trust the teacher and told his mother that he was thankful to have an adult that he could trust (referring to the teacher), to speak to about his problems.

On 2 February 2021, the man gave the victim a self-help book and asked him why was he hurting himself, to which the boy said that he needed a coping mechanism.

The man then told the boy that males of his age only have 2 ways to de-stress, taking medication or “stimulating” themselves.

He then asked the boy if he had ever watched adult videos, and introduced him to some websites.

On 6 February 2021, the teacher invited the boy over to his home for dinner and before eating, he complained about the heat and asked the boy if he wanted to take off his shirt.

The boy then changed into a singlet that the teacher offered him, as the latter watched him change.

He then kept pressuring the boy to drink alcohol with him during dinner, as he shared his personal experiences with intercourse.

He soon got himself drunk and started crying, placing his hands on the boy’s arm and chest, and moving them around for about 10 minutes.

He also showed the victim 3 adult videos on his mobile phone.

The next day (7 February 2021) the boy told his mother about what happened, and she then immediately told the school about it as well as filed a police report.

The teacher then resigned from his job that same month.

MAN PRAISES FOREIGN WORKER WHO HELPED ELDERLY WOMAN WHO WAS STUCK IN RAIN

0

I hope that the admin approves this post here despite it not being a post about complains of any sort.

Helpful man

I believe that the raining season is here again & sometimes the rain keep pouring throughout the day just like it did today.

I was waiting for my ride at the void deck when I saw this scene. A foreign worker who assisted an elderly lady to cross from one block to another during a heavy downpour.

The worker in the picture was having his lunch break at the void deck when he saw the elderly lady standing at the edge of the void deck. He then asked the elderly lady if she wanted to get to the other block before taking his umbrella and walking the elderly lady over to the next block.

I think it is very courteous and thoughtful of the worker to offer his help to the elderly lady.

Let the picture speak for itself.

Here are what netizens think:

  • God bless him as well as you bro for sharing a good side of ppl who need to be appreciated
  • Thank you sir for the kindness, contribute a simple thoughts do make a lot of different, to the lady who appears to be having some difficulty despite having to wait to get home sooner’. I wished you well and you really make our day!
  • Most of them are good, it is just one of the rotten apples that are in the basket that destroys their image.

RESIDENTS CREEPED OUT BY TAMPINES BTO BLOCK, WITH DIM RED WALLS, CEILINGS & FLOOR

0

Photos of a block of Build-To-Order (BTO) flats in Tampines have been circulating on social media, with many netizens being creeped out by the fully-red paint job.

The walls, ceiling, floors and even the letterboxes of the estate were painted blood red, accompanied by dim lighting all around.

The development of the BTO flats, Tampines GreenVines, is a block newly built in Tampines North, with its TOP (temporary operation permit) being issued back in 1 June 2022.

The eerie-looking Block 640B which was painted red, stands out from the other block lobbies that were painted yellow and blue, and looks like it’s dripping with blood when viewed from afar.

The block looks warm and vibrant enough in the day, but come nightfall, the eeriness of the red walls and ceiling come to life, looking like a scene from a horror film.

The letterbox area was also seen to be painted in a similar red theme, although the incomplete paintwork on the floors made it look like a bloodstained murder crime scene.

Netizens’ comments

  • New red light district 😂
  • My block is the one in yellow. When i saw the red one, i was like “you’ve got to be kidding me”
  • @Desmond_Lee_SG @Baeyyamkeng Hello sirs, hope you’ll have a look and have HDB review this. It’s really scary, how will residents go home every night..
  • Going home late at night is so damn spooky
  • If you look at basic colour theory, red has more positive connotations than negative ones
    • Colour theory your grandfather head ah
