PILOT DIED FROM CARDIAC ARREST, CO-PILOT THOUGHT HE WAS JOKING, CONTINUED FLYING

0

An aircraft pilot in the UK had reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest while on a flight and subsequently died, but the co-pilot thought that he was joking and continued flying.

According to the BBC, the 57-year-old pilot had passed a medical test 4 months before his flight on a Piper-PA-28-161 light aircraft with a co-pilot on 29 June 2022, around Blackpool Airport.

He was asked to join the flight because of safety reasons, due to the windy conditions, according to a safety report by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.

What happened on the flight

The two pilots were having a normal conversation with each other while the plane was still taxiing on the runway.

The pilot who died told his co-pilot during the conversation “looks good, there is nothing behind you,” before he rolled his head backwards.

The co-pilot thought that his friend was pretending to nap and joking with him, as they were familiar and knew each other well.

The plane then took a turn and the pilot slumped over, with his head resting on his co-pilot’s shoulder, but the latter still thought that his friend was joking around, and he continued on his route.

He only realised that something was wrong during landing when the pilot remained unresponsive, and emergency services were then called.

But he was unable to be resuscitated by medical personnel and died.

The deceased had almost 9,000 hours of flight experience and had been in good spirits before the flight, and those who spoke to him on the morning of his death said that he was his normal cheerful self, with no indication that he was unwell.

The UK Civil Aviation Authority’s medical department reviewed the incident and concluded that the deceased had suffered an acute cardiac arrest and died.

MAN WHO WAS JAILED FOR FATAL ACCIDENT THAT KILLED 2, BACK IN JAIL FOR DRIVING DANGEROUSLY

0

41-year-old Mohamed Mahadisyah Mohamed Rasid was sentenced on 22 February to 6 weeks imprisonment, fined $13,600 and banned from driving for 4 years after his prison release.

If he cannot pay the fine, he will serve another 47 days in prison.

He was previously jailed for 23 weeks and banned from driving in 2015 for an accident that killed 2 foreign workers and is now back in jail for dangerous driving in 2021.

What happened?

Mahadisyah was driving a car along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) on 2 September 2021 at about 10.30pm, and other motorists say that he was driving in a “swaying manner”.

His actions resulted in a near collision with a lorry, and he was also braking intermittently and causing the other vehicles to slow down because of his actions.

The police were alerted and when officers arrived at the scene, they noticed that Mahadisyah was reeking of alcohol.

A breathalyser test was then conducted and he was found to have 101 micrograms of alcohol in every 100 millilitres of breath, with the legal limit being 35 micrograms of alcohol for every 100 millilitres of breath.

Previous conviction

He was previously convicted for an accident that happened on 12 January 2013, along New Upper Changi Road.

He was feeling sleepy while driving his van and crashed into a stationary lorry and three workers who were unloading equipment.

One of the victims was flung into the lorry’s rear compartment and another victim was crushed between the lorry and Mahadisyah’s van.

The sole survivor of the accident escaped death with a broken hip.

Mahadisyah then fled the scene of the accident, before being arrested at a hotel in Geylang the following day.

19 Y.O ASSAULTED OWN MUM, THREATENED TO KILL HER & TAKE OUT HER INTESTINES

0

19-year-old Naydhan Subhash, who assaulted his mother back in October last year and threatened to remove her intestines, was sentenced to at least 6 months of informative training on 23 February.

The youth, who is currently in remand, will be detained in a reformation centre where he will be made to follow a strict regimen that included counselling and foot drills.

He pleaded guilty back in December 2022 to charges including harassment and assault.

What happened?

Naydhan was with his mother at their home in Sengkang on 24 October 2022 at about 5pm when he threw a tissue box at her, hitting her on the shoulder.

He then used a “needle-shaped prayer object” to poke his mother’s body.

She then applied for an expedited order against him, to refrain from using violence against her, and it was issued on 24 October 2022 by a district judge.

In the last week of October, Naydhan then got into an argument with his mother and threatened to kill her.

He then got into another dispute with her on 9 November 2022, and also threatened to take out the victim’s intestines.

The police were alerted on the same evening and Naydhan was subsequently charged in court; he appeared in court via video link earlier today and chose to say nothing during his mitigation plea.

GUY FAINTED AFTER FINDING HIMSELF IN EXAM HALL WITH 500 GIRLS, OVERWHELMED

0

A 17-year-old Grade 12 student in Bihar, India, fainted during his board examinations (the equivalent of Singapore’s A-Levels).

17-year-old Manish Shankar Prasad from Allama Iqbal College, had showed up at the Brilliant Convention School in Sundergarh for his mathematics examinations earlier in February.

He later realised that he was the only guy inside the examination hall, which was full with 500 girls, and he then blacked out and fainted, according to Asia News International.

Manish was rushed to the Sadar hospital where he also suffered from a fever, although he is currently in stable condition.

Manish’s aunt spoke to ANI and said that he had fainted because he was too nervous from seeing so many girls in the examination hall.

He was seen being asked what happened but didn’t say or mutter a single word throughout the interview even after being asked several times.

The trauma of seeing so many girls appeared to be too much for the guy.

Students in India are sometimes segregated by their gender in come co-ed schools, where boys and girls sit separately in class.

This could be one of the reasons why Manish was not conditioned to being in the presence of so many girls all at once.

Netizens’ comments

  1. If I’m the only female student with 500 guys in an exam room I would probably also faint.
  2. After you get married, you will realise just 1 can make you faint or die
  3. In heaven also faint
  4. One in a million! You are so lucky! What a pity!

SIAMBU BOUGHT CASH BOUQUET OF $2K FOR HER BF, BUT IT GOT STOLEN BY DELIVERYMAN

0

A woman in Thailand bought a cash bouquet adorned with money worth about 53,550 baht (or SGD $2,000) for her boyfriend as a gift to celebrate his graduation.

However, her boyfriend never received the gift because it got stolen by the delivery driver.

25-year-old Ms Sunitra Boonyaem bought a cash bouquet, which consisted of a bouquet of flowers adorned with about $2,000 in cash.

The cash bouquet was scheduled to be delivered to her home in Samut Prakan on 20 February at about 8.30am, and the flower boutique sent her a notification that it had been picked up by a taxi driver.

She also received a link to track the delivery of the bouquet.

Things were going well and all appeared to be fine, as the delivery taxi approached her home, but the delivery was then marked delivered but she didn’t receive her item yet.

Sunitra then called the taxi driver, who claimed that someone else had picked up her parcel.

She asked the driver for a photo as proof of delivery, but the driver said that he didn’t take any photos before hanging up on her.

Sunitra’s boyfriend said that he didn’t know is girlfriend was going to surprise him with the cash bouquet and thought that he would be the only one surprising her that day as he was planning to propose to her.

When he proposed to her, she started crying and he thought she was crying because she was happy, but she later told him that the cash bouquet that she bought for him had been stolen.

A police report was then lodged but as there was no progress or developments in the case, Sunitra turned to social media for help.

The only information available about the taxi driver is that he is a 45-year-old man driving for Grab.

WP MP ASKS IF CAN RAISE NSF ALLOWANCE FOR INFLATION, HENG CHEE HOW: NSF’S FOOD & LODGING ARE PROVIDED”

0

Workers’ Party (WP) Member of Parliament (MP) Gerald Giam asked during the parliament sitting on 22 February about raising the allowances of full-time National Servicemen (NSFs) in view of inflation and rise of living costs.

The Senior Minister of State for Defence, Heng Chee How, responded by saying that full-time NSFs receive an allowance for their basic personal upkeep.

He added that the allowance takes into account that NSFs’ food, lodging, clothing, and medical care are provided, given that most of them stay in camp.

Heng also further added that allowances are regularly reviewed and adjusted by Mindef, and highlighted how three adjustments have been made love the last 10 years and that the latest adjustment was in March 2020.

Giam then followed up and highlighted to Heng that the last review was in March 2020, and cited how the cost of basic upkeep has increased significantly due to high inflation from mid-2021.

He asked if NSF allowances could be pegged to the increase in Consumer Price Index or the MAS core inflation measure to minimise the lag time between the increases in living costs and adjustment to NS allowances.

Giam also asked when is the next review and if it could be brought forward due to the situation.

Heng then responded by saying that when the allowances are calibrated, the overall price levels in the country are taken into account.

He added that it is not the general cost of living that applies to the upkeep of the NSF because the items that impact overall living costs like lodging, food, clothing and medical care are taken care of and paid for by the SAF and Home Team.

CAT KENA CHASE BY RAT @ HOUGANG HDB VOID DECK, LIKE TOM & JERRY IN REAL LIFE

0

A video emerged online showing by TikTok user @floracindy1, showing a role reversal between a cat and a rat at a HDB void deck in Hougang.

Just like a scene out of the Tom and Jerry cartoons, a rat was seen in the video giving chase to a cat instead of the other way around.

The cat was seen at the start of the video watching and observing the rat beside a pillar at the void deck, as the rat slowly inched closer to the feline.

The rat then suddenly charges towards the cat, catching the cat off guard and the cat then took off and ran away from the rodent.

And just like in the cartoons, the rat chased the cat around a pillar, and as the cat turned back to see if the rat was still chasing him, it saw the rat still hot on its tail, and the cat then continued running away.

Netizens’ comments
