SMS FROM UNREGISTERED SENDER IDs WILL BE LABELLED “LIKELY SCAM” FROM 31 JAN

0

To better protect Singaporeans from spoofed SMSes, all organisations that send SMS messages to Singapore mobile users with an alphanumeric Sender ID are required to register their Sender ID with the SMS Sender ID Registry (“SSIR”). They are also required to only use SMS service providers or SMS aggregators (“Aggregators”) that are licensed by IMDA and participating in the SSIR. Registration of the Sender IDs helps to deter scammers and facilitates tracing in the event that a scam SMS is sent to Singapore mobile users.

SMS messages with unregistered Sender IDs will be replaced with the “Likely-SCAM” Sender ID from 31 January 2023. This serves to warn the recipient that the sender has not registered itself with SSIR and that the SMS message may potentially be a scam.

Staying alert against messages in the “Likely-SCAM” SMS thread

Consumers are reminded to stay vigilant against messages carrying the “Likely-SCAM” Sender ID, as these are sent by users who have not registered their Sender IDs with the SSIR. These SMS messages may be a SCAM SMS.

For messages bearing the Sender ID “Likely-SCAM”, consumers are strongly advised –

  • NOT TO CLICK on any links in the SMS messages
  • NOT TO CALL any numbers in the SMS messages

unless they can independently verify the identity of the senders.

  • IGNORE any SMS messages claiming to be from government agencies.

All government agencies in Singapore will use registered Sender IDs in their SMS communications. Their SMS messages will not appear under the “Likely-SCAM” thread.

In certain cases, consumers may have reasons to believe that an SMS message in the “Likely-SCAM” thread is legitimate. For example, a consumer is undertaking an online transaction and is expecting to receive a one-time password (OTP) from the online merchant. Consumers should nonetheless–

  • STAY VIGILANT. In particular, consumers should ensure that they are keying in the OTP on the merchant’s or payment service provider’s official website.
  • When in doubt, consult your family members or contact the merchants via their official website or contact number.

0

Is 30 a high body count ? (27m)

Been active with women since 19yo

One night as me and my friends were playing truth or dare and a guy took the play as the truth being asked “ what is your body count” and it continue the topic

Among the 5 friends, the highest body count is 12 and the lowest is 3, but when is my turn to tell the truth. It shocked them. ( 30 )

From their reaction. It had made me feel uncomfortable.

Making me feel like I’m a “dirty person”.

After doing some calculation. I only slept with 3-4 diff girls in a year average.

Wandering this thought had made me realised that I am just human. I still crave for love and attention. I desire something more than just physical intimacy but at the same time afraid to commit due to past relationship trauma.

  • It’s a bit subjective really, it’s high for some and not for others depending on their own perspective.
The main issue is only that it might indicate to some people that you have a different perspective or value for it than they do, so it might put some people off or others may not care at all, again, it’s about different attitudes and perspectives.
  • Depends on who you ask. Some girls will be turned off and some girls won’t. You just gotta find the ones that don’t care.
  • I’m 29F, and as long as my boyfriend is STD free and capable of being 100% faithful to me, I couldnt care less about the life he had before he met me.
  • Flip the table, would you consider it high from whoever you slept with if they told you that was their number?

The worker (who was being hit) then retaliated and hit him back, as a few other workers also got up and tried to stop the fight, while the lorry came to a stop at a traffic light.

GUY QUITS JOB ON FIRST DAY BECAUSE HE WAS TOLD TO MAKE SALES TO FAMILY & FRIENDS

0

Anyone here who decided to leave their job on the first day? What made you decide to run right away?

  • They wanted us to make our first sales to friends and family members.
F that. If your first option is for me to make money off the people I care about most, there’s really nowhere to go but down (morally).
  • They sent me to a room to do a bunch of on-boarding paperwork and those incredibly dull orientation videos companies love so much. Less than 10 minutes into it the manager comes in and tells me they need to cover the sales floor immediately because I was the only person for the department that day.
No training, no computer logins, no idea where anything in the building was or who any of the dozens of other people wandering around were or even what was really expected of me. Just go and solo a department that usually had between five and eight staff at any time.
I gave it a shot for like 45 minutes, and realized the whole place was staffed by miserable entitled a-holes who went out of their way to avoid work. I just walked out without saying anything.
  • They lowered the rate from what was agreed upon and became upset when I spoke up about it.
  • Was supposed to be an office job, straight salary. Got there the first day and it turned out to be door to door sales, commission only. Not even people who had expressed interest; just literally cold calling but in person at their door instead of on the phone. Didn’t even stay to hear the end of their explanation of how really if you think about it this is the job they advertised and interviewed me for, just better because (I don’t know, some bullshit, as I said, I had left by then).
  • Slowly started changing the terms of employment during the day.
Started off “10 hour days 5 days a week $8/hour”
Shifted to “sometimes you have to work weekends too”
Then “actually it’s crunch season right now so we’re going to expect you to work Saturday and Sunday this week”
Then “actually we’ll need you to stay Saturday and Sunday most weeks”
Then “You’ll be working Saturday and Sunday for the foreseeable future”
Then “We’ll need you to stay a few hours after work today”
Then “Actually you’ll be working 12-14 hours a day 7 days a week for the next 6 months”
    Yeah nope.

MAN WHO GOT LOST AT SEA, SURVIVED 24 DAYS IN THE WATERS BY LIVING ON KETCHUP

0

47-year-old Elvis Francois from the Caribbean island of Dominica got lost at sea and survived for 24 days on ketchup, garlic powder and bouillon cubes.

He was eventually rescued by the Colombian Navy in Colombian waters.

Elvis said in a video released by the Colombian Navy that he had no food while he was lost at sea, and that there was only a bottle of ketchup, some garlic powder and bouillon cubes.

He mixed them up with some water in order to survive 24 days at sea.

He then carved the word “help” on the hull of his boat, and was eventually found about 120 nautical miles northwest of Puerto Bolivar, in La Guajira.

Elvis added that he saw other boats passing him by and tried to flag them down, but they didn’t see him despite him even lighting a fire on his boat.

Then sometime on 15 January, he saw a plane and used a mirror to make some signals, catching the glare of the sun and shining it on the aircraft to draw attention.

The plane then passed over his boat twice and that was when he realised that they had seen him, and he said that he was grateful for being alive today because of them.

The plane then informed the Navy, and Elvis as then rescued with the help of a merchant ship.

He said that he had nobody to talk to and no land for 24 days, and that he didn’t know what to do, and didn’t know where he was.

He had lost hope after a while and thought about his family.

The Colombian Navy said that Elvis was working to repair a sailboat off a harbour in St Maarten in December last year when he was swept out to sea because of the bad weather.

he had no knowledge of navigation and was lost and disoriented at sea, he tried to make calls on his phone but had no signal.

BOSS TOLD EMPLOYEES NO RED PACKET BECAUSE THEY ARE NEVER ON TIME FOR WORK

0

As a recently-hired employee at a multinational corporation, I was looking forward to my first Chinese New Year in the office.

It was a time of giving and receiving red packets filled with money and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one. Little did I know that my boss had other plans.

During the New Year’s celebrations, everyone was gathered in the office, wearing their red and gold outfits, waiting with anticipation for the red packets. That’s when my boss announced that no red packets were to be given out this year. Everyone was shocked and confused.

My boss explained that none of us had been on time for work for the past few months and that this was the reason for his decision. He said that he did not want to reward us for being late and that instead, he wanted us to learn a lesson, and to start being punctual.

I was taken aback by his decision. I had been late for work a few times, but I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. I couldn’t believe he was punishing us all for it. I was embarrassed and felt like I had let my boss down.

The rest of the employees were also feeling the same way. We had all been looking forward to the red packets, and now they were taken away from us. Everyone was grumbling and some were even angry.

My boss, however, was firm in his decision. He said that punctuality was important and that if we were going to be part of his team, we needed to start being on time. He said he would not give out the red packets until we started being punctual.

At first, I was a bit resentful of my boss’s decision. I thought it was unfair and unjust. But then, I realized that he was right. We had been slacking off and it was time for us to start being more responsible.

So, I decided to take my boss’s advice and start being punctual. I made sure to be at work on time every day and to finish my tasks before the deadline. I also made sure I was prepared for meetings and presentations.

After a few weeks, my boss noticed my dedication and rewarded me with a red packet. I was so happy and grateful. My hard work and dedication had paid off!

This experience taught me a valuable lesson. I learned that punctuality is important and that if you want to be successful in the workplace, you need to show up on time. I also learned that sometimes, even if you don’t agree with your boss’s decision, you should still respect it and take it as a learning experience.

My boss’s decision to not give out red packets that year was the best thing he could have done for us. It taught us to be responsible and punctual, and it showed us that our boss cares about us and wants us to be successful in our jobs.

M’SIAN RENTED ROOM IN S’PORE AFTER AGENT LIED THAT HE MUST STATION HERE, FINDS OUT CAN WFH

0

Recruitment agent lied to me that my job has to station in SG, turns out can WFH from anywhere. Already rented a room here, can I sue the agent?

I am from Malaysia and I only found out that the company doesn’t require employees to be stationed in SG on my first day of training, but a few months ago the recruitment agency rep told me otherwise. Our HR said that the agent never try to clarify with them before.

Unfortunately I already rented a room here with a contract and am unable to retract.

Furthermore he tried to introduce me to his property agent friend when I’m trying to look for rooms here, which may benefit him from this lie.

This made me depressed cause I already planned the room renting and to prepare mentally to leave things behind and move into a new country to work here, knowing that it’s for nothing now. Not to mention the rental here is not cheap..

Is there any action I can take against the recruitment agency?

0

A headless and dismembered dead body inside a black suitcase was discovered on 17 January by passers-by at the North-South Expressway in Malaysia.

The body was then picked up by the Malaysian police for post-mortem examination, and the deceased has been revealed to be a male foreigner.

the Sungai Buloh district police chief superintendent Shafa’aton Abu Bakar said that they have taken a statement from a witness on 18 January at 4.30pm.

The cause of death was multiple injuries from multiple blows from sharp objects, and Supt Abu Bakar said that the victim is believed to be a non-Muslim, although she stopped short of mentioning his nationality.

The police are still trying to determine the identity of the deceased.

Recap

A headless body with the torso all chopped up and stored inside a black suitcase was found on the side of the North-South Expressway in Malaysia on 17 January, according to Berita Harian Malaysia.

The identity and gender of the victim are presently unclear, and the Malaysian police are investigating the case as murder (which carries the death penalty).

The Malaysian police said that they were alerted to the bag. which was spotted by passers-by at about 11.45am.

Berita Harian reported that the suitcase contained more body parts; but the head, arms and legs of the torso are still missing and as such, the authorities are unable to identify the body.

There were also no identification documents on the body.

The deceased also didn’t appear to have had a “BCG” injection (which are vaccinations given to all children at birth in Malaysia), implying the possibility that the deceased might’ve been a foreigner.

The Malaysian police, forensic team and K9 unit are presently conducting further investigations into the murder case.

GF THOUGHT BF WILL LIKE IT IF SHE STICK HER FINGER UP HIS BEHIND

0

It was a typical night out with my boyfriend.

We had been dating for several months and were comfortable with each other. We were having a great time and were getting a little frisky. I had heard about a new S act that was said to be pleasurable for both parties involved and thought I’d give it a try.

I suggested it to my boyfriend, who was more than willing to try it out.

We started out with some foreplay, as usual. We were both enjoying ourselves and were getting pretty aroused. Then, I had the idea to take it a step further. I thought of a new way to give him pleasure. I suggested that I stick my finger up his behind. I was a little hesitant at first, but he was open to the idea.

So, I slowly inserted my finger up his butt. I was sure to go slowly, as I didn’t want to cause any discomfort or pain. I was careful not to go too deep, but I was still quite far up. I was expecting him to enjoy it, as it was said to be pleasurable.

However, to my surprise, he screamed in pain. I had gone too deep and too fast, and he was not enjoying it at all. I quickly pulled my finger out and apologized for hurting him. He was not pleased and was quite angry with me.

I felt terrible for causing him pain.

I thought I was being careful and that he would enjoy it, but clearly, I was wrong. I was embarrassed and ashamed of myself for making such a mistake. I apologized profusely and he eventually calmed down.

In the end, we both learned an important lesson. I learned that it’s important to always go slow and be careful when trying something new with someone, especially when it involves sticking a finger up their butt. My boyfriend learned that it’s okay to say no if something doesn’t feel right.

This experience was a huge wake up call for me. I now know that I need to be more careful when experimenting in the bedroom. I know that it’s important to go slow and to always pay attention to my partner’s reactions. If they are not enjoying something, I need to stop immediately and apologize.

WOMAN MADE A LOT OF “ENEMIES” AT WORK, WORRIED ABOUT HER REPUTATION IN THE INDUSTRY

0

Concerned about personal reputation because of job

Am in a job which pays well but is constantly putting me under pressure to perform actions I’m uncomfortable with.

Nothing illegal or wrong, just actions that require me to be the bad guy to protect my organisation and team’s interest.

Have just found out that I made quite a number of “enemies” along the way in the industry and am concerned about the potential repercussions it has on my future career prospects.

It also has left me with constant anxiety about constantly having to front so many of these things.

Not sure if its something that others have experienced before.

  • Somehow I feel that I get how you feel with a similar work role. But if your peers are mature enough they may just see it as business. But I think it’s good to look for friendship outside of your immediate peers
  • Its work, don’t take it personally. I never got along with my boss, argued, but at the end she gave me a promotion for the work I delivered.
  • From a different perspective you’re a good employee for the organisation and able to do the assigned work well no? A good prospective boss should be able to recognise that.
  • if ppl see you as enemy then they are being unprofessional. you’re just doing your work. i have to be a bitch often to protect my team but outside work, i can be friends with ppl.
  • May not be worth the money in the long run especially if your industry is small and has its own network and you intend to stay in it. And what do you think your boss will say if your next employer asks him for a reference check on you.
