DELIVERY MAN SENT PARCEL TO WRONG ADDRESS, THEN SAYS HE CAN’T REMEMBER

0

Facebook user Jenny Bill shared how her parcel was allegedly sent to the wrong address by the deliver person, who took a “proof of delivery” photo without the door number.

Here is what she said

Hi Guys, i would like to ask any one would recognized the block at bukit batok west ave 6 with black window railings.

Apparently the delivery guy has difficulties reading the postal numbers, delivered the parcel to wrong address which is not in my vicinity (my hdb estate all has white window rails),

he took a proof of delivery photo without the door number, so clever, without confirming if the parcel is really the person’s, and the person just accept it,

and now he has Short term memory, can’t remember where he delivered to after less than 2 hours of reporting to singpost.

Not sure what game is he playing but ya, so i took the initiative to help him do his work by asking around in here,

i’m just sad that this household blatantly accepted the parcel without returning. so sad to see this kind of dishonest behavior in Singapore

Update: becus the delivery man screwed up big time, he nvr check the address, unit number is it the same address as mine, i would assumed he just randomly find an address in that area and hand it over to a stranger,

he took this photo as proof of delivery but is obviously not my address and theres no door number in the photo, so is hard for people to track it down,

all unit number in an estate are usually different and able to track down which block with just the unit number. so the only way is for him to remember where he send to or use picture as a guide to find the unit, presumably,

if it’s on the same floor where i am living, but then again i am just so surprise why they dont have some common sense and professionalism in their work, in addition the person who accepted the parcel did not return the parcel so ya i guess they will keep it for themselves

3 M’SIANS ARRESTED, MORE THAN 500 CARTONS OF ILLEGAL CIGGS SEIZED @ YISHUN

Singapore Customs arrests three men and seizes more than 500 cartons and 700 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes

Singapore Customs arrested three male Malaysians, aged 28 to 33, and seized a total of 512 cartons and 759 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes in an operation on 22 November 2022.

Case information

In an operation conducted at an industrial building at Yishun Industrial Street 1, Customs officers checked on three men and two pick-up trucks inside a warehouse unit. They uncovered 259 cartons and 520 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes hidden in one of the trucks and another 253 cartons and 239 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes concealed in the other truck. The duty-unpaid cigarettes were concealed in modified compartments under the cargo bed of the vehicles. The three men were arrested.

In follow-up operations, Customs officers seized two other trucks, parked at separate locations, which were suspected to be also used to smuggle duty-unpaid cigarettes into Singapore earlier. Investigations revealed that the trio were allegedly engaged by unidentified persons in Malaysia to dismantle the trucks and retrieve the duty-unpaid cigarettes in the warehouse unit.

All the duty-unpaid cigarettes and four trucks were seized in the operation. The total duty and Goods and Services tax (GST) evaded amounted to about $50,200 and $3,990 respectively. Investigations are ongoing.

Buying, selling, conveying, delivering, storing, keeping, possessing or dealing with duty-unpaid goods are serious offences under the Customs Act and the GST Act. Offenders can be fined up to 40 times the amount of duty and GST evaded and/or jailed for up to six years. Vehicles used in the commission of such offences are also liable to be forfeited.

Members of public with information on smuggling activities or evasion of duty or GST can call the Singapore Customs hotline on 1800-2330000 or email [email protected] to report these illegal activities.

MAN JUST STARTED AS GRABFOOD RIDER, WAITED FOR 5 HOURS WITH NO ORDERS

0

Just joined grabfood and shocked

Day 2 and ive been waiting for 5 hours straight with no orders at all, and im in a supposed hot zone, what the heck is going on here??

Im by no means lazy but I cant earn anything if I cant get an order at all..this is really demoralising man

Netizens’ comments

  • Too many riders in that area most probably
  • I used to order 5-7 times a week, after grab increased the min order to $15 and increased the avg cost of delivery to $5, I no longer order at all for regular meals. Pretty sure I’m not the only one who decided $20/meal makes no sense whatsoever.
I average around 2 orders a month now when I feel like spending more for a specific craving and it’s too far from my house. Taking that into consideration id say there are a lot less orders on the grab/foodpanda nowadays
  • Sounds like you pissed off the algorithm!
  • Almost 5-year Grab rider/Food delivery rider here. I suspect that your app may be glitched or something, Try running the in-app diagnostic tool to see if anything changes.
Also every Friday at 6pm sharp is when the optional shifts are released for the following week’s Monday-Thursday. Try to snipe them so that you’re at least securing the minimum guarantee if you don’t get any jobs for the 4 hours that the shift is active.
12MN Saturday is when shifts for next Friday release, 12MN Sun for next Sat and 12MN Monday for next Sunday. Jiayou friend, this industry has extremely high highs and demoralising lows, but it’s never bad for too long 🙂

FT STARTS WORK IN S’PORE, CONFUSED ABOUT WORK CULTURE – SAY ONE THING, DO ANOTHER

0

For context, I just moved to Singapore and was accepted to work in an office-related role after months of searching. I have 10+ years experience in this role and it is also a supervisor position. During my interview, I was told that it’s a progressive and modern company, they treat employees like family, and will train me well to be effective in my role. That made me excited to work with them and my only request is that they give me proper feedback so I can do my job effectively.

I’m not sure if it is a cultural thing or I’m just being blur, but the instructions I get don’t seem to match what they really expect me to do. For example, I was invited to come and observe the office and work culture a few days before I started, and I was only happy to do so. I came with the expectation that I’ll quietly look around, ask questions and chitchat a bit, then leave. A little bit later I was called into a meeting and was told that they didn’t seem impressed with me as I came off as someone who’s shy and quiet. I didn’t realise this is an “official” meeting and would have been more outgoing and chatty if I knew.

When I started working, they told me they need an independent worker which is great because I prefer doing things on my own and will ask questions only if I needed help. For my training, I was given a task list and was told to update once everything was finished. By the end of my shift, everything was submitted and properly reported to my trainer. My boss later told me that I seem lazy and should put in more hours so people will respect me. When I asked my trainer for feedback, I was only told everything is well. A few days later, I was apologising for asking too many questions about a certain task and was told that “it’s great you’re asking questions because that means you’re working”. Eh?

I’m grateful for the feedback but I can’t seem to get what they want. I prefer direct instructions and this roundabout way of saying things messes with me. Is this the usual work culture in SG? Pls give me insights on how new trainees are handled.

Help a lost foreigner pls

JOBLESS UNI DROPOUT REFUSES TO GET A JOB, STAYS HOME TO PLAY GAMES ALL DAY

0

So I’ve got this cousin who’s in his late 20s who I play games with pretty often. I’ve always known him to be a cool guy and we’ve been pretty close after years of playing games together despite our age gap. (I’m in my early 40s)

However despite the cool personality he’s got when playing games, he’s actually pretty problematic at home. He has never held a proper job and mostly spends a lot of his time at home playing games. Refuses to get a job and refuses to help out his parent’s business. A couple of years ago he dropped out of SUSS because he said he wasn’t learning anything and wanted to find something else to pursue.

We’re all worried for him and his mother (my aunt) has asked me to talk to him since we’re rather close.

When I asked him about it, he went on about wanting to get rich through cryptocurrency and becoming a full-time streamer and YouTuber. I’ve known this guy for years and I don’t think he’s the creative type, nor have I seen him make any YouTube videos. I also know cryptocurrency is in the dumps right now so I’m unsure about how realistic his goals are.

Maybe I’m getting old, perhaps being a YouTuber is something that’s common with younger folks. I don’t want to dash his dreams but talking to him has made me question if my ‘uncle’ advice from a 40+ year old is any relevant to a young man in his 20s.

Yet, I am also pretty sure he needs to wake up his idea and stop dreaming, but i don’t want to come down on a young man’s dreams too hard.
Any advice I can give him? How would you guys approach this?

SG-BASED CRYPTO LENDER HODLNAUT SUSPECTED OF CHEATING & FRAUD

0

On 23 November 2022, the Commercial Affairs Department (“CAD”) launched an investigation into Hodlnaut Pte. Ltd. (“Hodlnaut”) and its directors for suspected offences under the Penal Code 1871.

Previously, the exchange reported that it had over SGD 18.3 million ($13.3 million) in cryptocurrency stranded on the bankrupt exchange FTX, dealing a further setback to its recovery efforts.

Holdnaut froze withdrawals in August after apparently losing close to $189.7 million owing to the Terra ecosystem’s collapse.

Between August and November 2022, the Police received multiple reports alleging that Hodlnaut and/or its directors had made false representations relating to the company’s exposure to a certain digital token.

Arising from these police reports, the CAD is investigating Hodlnaut and its directors for possible cheating and fraud offences under Sections 417 and 424A of the Penal Code 1871.

If you have deposited digital tokens with Hodlnaut and believe that you may have been defrauded through, among others, false representations made by Hodlnaut, you may wish to lodge a police report at the nearest Neighbourhood Police Centre, or online at https://eservices.police.gov.sg/content/policehubhome/homepage/police-report.html.

To assist us in the review of your complaint, please provide documents relating to your transactions with Hodlnaut. Such documents include the records of the payments made to and received from Hodlnaut as well as relevant correspondence with Hodlnaut.

GIRL WENT OUT WITH GUY WHO CLAIMS TO BE 18, BUT LOOKS LIKE HE IS IN HIS 30S

0

I went out on a date with someone supposedly the same age as me, but they looked MUCH older..

So this was yesterday. I’m 18F and he was 18M. when I saw his photos, I already did think he looked so much older, but I thought that was just the camera and he would look younger in person.

no, he didn’t. he looked like he was 30. I asked him on the date if he really is 18, and he told me his beard and long hair just makes him look older.

the date went well, he was a nice person. But I couldn’t help thinking if he really was 18.

honestly I want to ask him for a photo of his ID where he covers everything except his birth date, but I’m scared that’d be too mean.

update: ok uhm so I asked him for it. he kept questioning why and told me I was weird for pushing it. he told me he wouldn’t lie and he doesnt need to prove anything. So guess who I blocked.

Netizens’ comments

  1. I used to get served in most bars when I was 16/17. 🤷🏻‍♂️ ask him for I.D. He will see the funny side of it if he’s truly 18.
  2. Hello there. Let me just say to you that there is nothing wrong with you asking for ID , the fact is you can be kind and respectful when doing so but this will show him that you are a Confident young lady and have self respect.
I’m afraid that if you don’t do this for yourself at this early stage in your dealings with the opposite gender you may just become easy prey both of your insecurities and other who are out to take advantage of people like you. Please take care of yourself and like anyone else has already said “ Trust your Gut “ ✌️

WOMAN BEING TREATED AS ATM BY FRIEND, TELLS HER “YES! SPEND MONEY ON ME!”

0

I (27F) have this childhood friend (28F) who we met at the playground as kids 17-18 years ago when we were 10/11 years old respectively.

Whenever we hang out, she expects me to pay most of the bills because I’m “rich” which I’m definitely not. I worked hard to get to where I am now and nobody spoon-feeds me anything. I just make a considerable amount more than her. I don’t really mind paying for most of the stuff but it just kinda bugged me that she came to expect it.

Also, this year she forgot my birthday and sent me a belated text message a day later to wish me a happy birthday. But for her birthday, I texted her happy birthday and she just expected me to take her out for a birthday dinner (which I actually didn’t plan to, but made it happen anyway. I spent over $200 on dinner, dessert and drinks) but I didn’t mind it until she made this comment “yes, spend money on me” which she meant as a joke but because her actions really reflect that, it did bug me slightly.

Most recently, I had my wedding and the day before the wedding she texted me to ask if she can be “exempted from giving a red packet hahaha” which really bothered me because it’s my special day and you choose this day to be a cheapskate?! I just told her no, a red packet represents well wishes and to just give any amount she is comfortable with. In case this comes across as a cash grab, my cost per head was $250 and she only gifted me $50 which is totally fine, but the fact that she didn’t even want to gift me anything at all at first, was what annoyed me. (She also didn’t give me anything for my birthday and yet expected to be wined and dined for her birthday which I did for her).

On top of that, she has been frequently borrowing a couple of hundred from me every few months and then just splitting it into instalment packages to her convenience without asking me if I’m okay with it. Eg. I lent her $300 and she just returns me $50 per month on her own accord.

Also, for her previous engagement that was cancelled, she asked me to be her wedding emcee and do her hair and makeup which I was totally fine with, and of course she expects the red packet from me too which I would have given for sure, if the wedding wasn’t called off. Thinking of this and how she still wanted to skimp on the red packet for my wedding, just made me feel very uncomfortable as I felt taken advantage of. PS. I didn’t need her help with anything for my wedding, she just had to attend as a guest.

I feel conflicted as I feel like the relationship is very unbalanced and she’s milking me, but at the same time I feel it’s a shame to let go of the friendship as she’s easily one of my longest friend.

Still keep her as a friend or move on?
